FASHOLA TO APC PUBLICITY SECRETARIES: STAY WITH THE ISSUES, REINFORCE HOW APC IS CLEARLY DIFFERENT FROM OTHERS …As Governor receives State Publicity Secretaries of APC during Summit in Lagos Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola, SAN on Tuesday received the Publicity Secretaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from various States in the country, charging them to continue to reinforce the differences and ideas that drive the party. Describing that inaugural Summit of the Publicity Secretaries held in Lagos as a defining historic initiative, Governor Fashola said the party image makers should proceed to articulate more clearly issues in their respective states. Noting that the All Progressives Congress has shown the difference between it and the other parties by its unique approach to issues, Governor Fashola identified the two broad categories of States in which the Publicity Secretaries operate adding that they must continue to stay with the issues in both cases. According to the Governor, the kind of politics being played by the APC is one that has changed the game because the people had expected the party to do the traditional things but are seeing the party that is organizing periodic lectures on topical national issues which is a departure from the past. He reiterated that the responsibility to detail what is different will rest with each and every one of the party publicity secretaries in terms of reinforcing the difference and escalating the ideas that drives the Party. According to the Governor, the APC would hold other parties to the issues as every election should be about the issues that affect the people which should be discussed frontally and openly. “For those who already understand the caliber of men and women who make up APC and who know that they are long distance runners, there are lots of expectations from us. There are some people in our party and they are quite a number and people know them that when they set on a course, they will give everything that it takes. The short distance runners will find their levels as we go on. So that put a lot of expectations on this party and it brings a lot of responsibilities, the responsibilities that am sure that we can discharge it would be your duty to more clearly now articulate issues in your States”, he stated. He explained that by comparison the APC States have shown clearly more developmental capacity adding that even in those states that it does not have a government, whatever the government of the day is doing there with the APC ideas, given the same resources, the APC would do better. Citing specific examples, Fashola explained that as Publicity Secretaries they must help people make the necessary connection that poverty cannot be eradicated without electricity and that if there is no power, factories would not run, if factories do not run, there would be no jobs and if there are no jobs the people would be poor. “You would not be saying anything that is manufactured. You would only be taking them through a logical sequence and that is only one sequence. The other sequence is that without power the locally produced goods would be very expensive than imported ones, so anybody who is producing here locally is at a disadvantage. His prices cannot compete. Inevitably what happens is that he shuts down, he down sizes resulting in unemployment and poverty”. “These are the dots that you must connect for people who cannot make the connections. Our party does not run the government that controls the critical indices of survival here. We do not control the price of fuel, we do not raise the price of fuel, we do not control the exchange rates and we do not control the index rates”, he said Continuing, the Governor noted that such indices have weighty implications for the production process and eventually the well being of the people. “Those are the rates that affects whether or not companies can produce, how much they can produce at, how effectively they can produce if their prices are not competitive, if what should cost N5 is costing N10, if you have only N10 you can only buy one, but if it is produced at the appropriate price you can buy two, if you buy two it means your demand has increased, if it is increased, it means that the producer must employ more people to meet that demand, these are the very simple and challenging issues”, the Governor explained. Governor Fashola also stressed that the APC is not the party responsible for managing income from oil, asking why the income is disappearing, adding that if the party in control cannot do it then it should let the APC show them how to do it. He added that for him the serious day to day issues that the people of Nigeria must connect with concerns connecting with education, connecting with healthcare, connecting with housing and connecting with security people. According to him: “A man who has no work has a very low threshold for temptation, the person that has work, that has money, after a hard day’s job is going to look for where to enjoy his money in the evening, he is not going to look for trouble. It is natural human behaviour. So you can connect that electricity to so many things and until we have it, things are going to be extremely challenging”. Speaking earlier, the Publicity Secretary of the Lagos Chapter of APC, Mr Joe Igbokwe said the Publicity Secretaries came together because of the need to compare notes, to synergize, understand themselves and share progress and challenges. He added that the Publicity Secretaries have held discussions on the way forward because they believe there is no reason why the APC should not form the government at the federal level in 2015 and are preparing themselves for the change that is coming. https://www.facebook.com/followlasg/posts/793375800683688 |
Mimiko's dad (PDP) is a wealthy man, he owns many estates (PDP States), he controls some through proxies (LP, APGA et al). One day, Mimiko fell out of favour from his dad, he left his dad's mansion and took refuge in one of his dad's outsourced bungalows (Ondo). He tried all within his might to take over the property from the third party having known that it could be his only bequeathed property at the eventual death of his father. His father however, blocked all possible ways he could realize that dream.Meanwhile, a neighbour (Tinubu/ACN) who had been watching the power tussle between father and child offered to help when it appeared the child could end up not getting a dime from his wealthy father. Legal Luminaries were hired to see the case to its very end. Fortunately for Mimiko, the case went in his favour and the ownership of the bungalow was taken over by him. When it was time to say thank you to the neighbour who gave him a helping hand, Mimiko thought it was unnecessary and moved on. The neighbour felt pained and called him unprintable names but Mimiko wouldn't feel moved. Having taken over, the bungalow, he vowed to be loyal to his benefactor (LP) who came to his rescue when he left his father's mansion...But can a child ever be loyal to anybody than his biological parents? Today, Mimiko the prodigal son has gone back to his father. |
I'm allergic to following the crowd hence, I found the popular castigation of Nigerian celebrities doing the #Ice #Bucket #Challenge undeserving and myopic after researching what the challenge is all about. There is no gainsaying the fact that some of our celebrities have failed us by not discharging their social leadership roles as expected especially when we consider their lackadaisical attitude on issues of social importance in their immediate society but nonetheless, a handful of them still lay bare their minds not minding whose ox is gored. Stella Damasus for example, is always at the fore front of social campaigns and the role she played during the legislation against same sex marriage cannot be over emphasized. She also lent her voice to kick against girl child marriage when the senate was considering its legislation. Her voice, among other nollywood acts was also loud in the call for rescue of the abducted Chibok girls. To many of us, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) ( a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord) which is why the challenge was initiated to raise funds for sufferers, is an American ailment which should have its awareness restricted to America forgetting that Ebola was once restricted to three West African countries before the deadly virus found its way into the most populous African nation. Bill Gates isn't an African yet, he donates millions of dollars annually to fight one of the deadly dieases (Polio) ravaging the continent especially Nigeria; Celebrities around the world do not have stake in Nigeria but they all joined in the #BringBackOurGirls campaign. If there is anybody doing "follow follow", it's definitely not those doing the awareness but those who'll wait to be struck by ALS in order to blame it on poor health care delivery system in the country or witches in their villages. |

…Urges Lagosians to shun deceitful parties as genuine development can come when citizens pay their taxes Defying an early morning downpour, Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola SAN, on Tuesday formally handed over two new schools constructed by the State Government in the Iju- Ishaga and Ifako-Ijaiye area of the State, saying it is another step towards improving the learning environment of the pupils. The Governor who spoke at both Sonmori Comprehensive Senior High School, College Road, Ifako- Ijaiye and the First African Church Mission Primary School, Iju-Ishaga before cutting the ribbons to formally commission both added that government hopes the new structures will inspire the children to greater heights. Noting that provision of new structures is an on-going effort to rebuild new school, and renovate existing ones during the vacation, the Governor said it is expected to also inspire teachers to produce better results adding that the purpose was to ensure that when the children resume from their long vacation, they would resume into a better learning environment than they left while proceeding on the vacation. Governor Fashola reiterated his commitment to give his best to the state adding that if the residents could defy the rain or the sun to come and vote for the APC in the last general election, nothing would also stop him from serving the people of Lagos in the rain or the sunshine. He urged the people not to be deceived by some desperate politicians who may in seeking their votes promise not to collect taxes from the residents once they are voted into office, maintaining that they are liars. He said the two new structures and several others that have been embarked upon by the present administration in its quest to redress the infrastructure deficit in the state are all products of the taxes paid by compliant residents. “Please ask them what they have done with our crude oil money that they have collected. The states and local governments have even had their allocations reduced and the reasons why you have not felt this is because you pay your taxes in Lagos. The most tangible thing for everyone of you to do to ensure the continuity of these projects is by voting for the APC in the next elections”, he added. Speaking earlier, the State Commissioner for Education, Mrs Olayinka Oladunjoye stated that with the new schools being handed over, the emphasis of the present administration on quality education cannot be over emphasized. She added that every investment made by the Government represent the strongest building blocks of securing a brighter and rewarding future for the children, imploring all stakeholders to preserve all the assets bearing in mind that government has expended a lot into its provision. Mrs Oladunjoye also urged the students to justify the huge investment of the State Government on them while asking the teachers to take full charge of the structures and ensure that they do their work diligently to repay government’s huge investment in them. Messages of goodwill which commended the present administration in the State for fulfilling all its electioneering promises to the people of Ifako- Ijaiye were delivered by the Chairman of Ifako- Ijaiye Local Government Area, Hon Oloruntoba Oke and member of the House Assembly representing Ifako Ijaiye Constituency, Hon Dayo Fafunmi. The Governor later cut the tape at the two different locations to formally hand the new schools made up 18 classrooms in one block at Sonmori Comprehensive Senior High School, College Road, Ifako and 13 classrooms in one block at the First African Church Mission Primary School, Iju Ishaga. The Governor was accompanied to the handing over ceremonies by members of the State Executive including the Commissioners for Commerce and Industry, Mrs Sola Oworu, Youth, Sports and Social Development, Hon Enitan Oshodi, Information and Strategy, Mr Lateef Ibirogba and traditional rulers from the area.

Don't tell me you're still crying over the result of the August 9 election...Boy, get over it, that was just a slight of what will happen to the killer party in 2015. Get ready for the greatest shock of your life when your Principal's ass is kicked out of Aso Rock. Just make sure your shock absorber is good'cos, the resultant effect might not be too pleasant for you to handle. By the way, I hope your BP has not risen above normal. |
BishopMagic: 1. The Population of Lagos is why Federal allocations to Lagos are second to that of Kano. And you forgot to mention that nuisance like you in Lagos are what is causing the state to tap fully its potentials? |
BishopMagic: Progressive nonsense.Bros, stop being sentimental! Does Akwa Ibom have the same population with Lagos? Is the Federal government presence felt more in Lagos than Akwa Ibom? And why are PDP apologists always quick to compare Lagos with Akwa Ibom and not Delta which also enjoys huge allocation as an oil producing state? Is Bayelsa also fairing better in terms of development? Your comments smack of bitterness towards APC whereas, the party you support should be held responsible for your woes. |
BishopMagic: rubbish. You refute any concrete and glaring true nonsense by your APC masters but are quick to run to the rumour mill over any outlandish lie coming from the tables of lair mohammedWhat has this post got to do with Lai Mohammed Mr.? Why do you always develop headache at the mention of the opposition? |
Bros., I grew up in Surulere, Ojuelegba to be precise and so you are not more Surulere person than I am. Your tale of organized arson is nothing but the usual talk when a government institution is gutted by fire and these accusations don't usually have concrete proves but are just fabrications by people. |

Abariwiseman: Nonsense!Do you have proves that support your claims or your submission is just another "dem say" being passed to you by your progenitors who didn't have access to good education? Man, don't let your hatred for the man blindfold you to see his good works...Get up from your comfort zone and visit public schools in Lagos to see how they are been transformed. Stop hating on someone who doesn't know you exist! |
