No doubt, Abeokuta will be a mecca of sort to dignitaries; from the presidency to governors of PDP states and other ruling party stalwarts on the day of the burial...I'm sure flying in helicopter would be a NO, NO for most of them having witnessed the crash that claimed the lives of Andrew Azazi and Patrick Yakowa on the day of Oronto Douglas' (one of GEJ's aides) father's burial in Bayelsa. #who wan die!# |

@op:Thank God she admits she's not a bimbo...calling herself one would have been an abuse of the word...she's simply a NON DESCRIPT.. |
@op, did you say she repped 9ja? As far as i'm concerned, she didn't...she can't wear that dress better than the 'oyinbos', her 'self-created' style with any of our natives would have made her repped better. |

If there is one Nigerian footballer who refuses to go with time, it is Segun (Mathematical) Odegbami. The Ogun State born ace soccer star recently wrote a book, ME, FOOTBALL AND MORE on his career and his love for the round leather game. Here are pictures of the presentation of the book to the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

I still don't know why people are ranting over what is not. Nairaland is a reflection of the larger Nigerian society, what we have here is quasi and not absolute democracy. Seun is only being careful since he'll be the one to pay for the sins of faceless members in this forum. To me, he has not committed any crime for coming up with these rules as that is the only way most nairaland commentators can be put to check especially when sensitive issues are been discussed. If nairaland were to be an open forum (where members data are known), I'm very sure nobody will dare pull any senseless stunt knowing that he/she can be traced. But as faceless as this forum is, some people still maintain their moral uprightness. Some of us may find these rules ridiculous but, they are inevitable because, we live in a society where the only language we understand is 'force' (no thanks to the long tyrannical rule of the military). Mark Zuckerberg would walk freely on the streets of America because facebook is never a faceless social network and the society in which his business operates throws much weight behind human rights. Having said this, moderators should be fair in their choice of posts that will grace the front page and such posts must be educative and informative because a lot of people don't have time to explore other sections of the forum. Also, hiding of post(s) should be done without bias and personal grudge against the commentator. Thanks Tunjman |

That is what is called brand loyalty in advert...there are a number of brand of cube sugar in the market but since the name 'st louis' has been registered in people's mind, they ask for st louis when they get to the market and some would not even check the product's name as long as it comes with same packaging with st louis....same with geisha and some other sundry products too...you wonder why people refer to every toothpaste as maclean? Why noodles are called indomie? And why soft drinks (soda) are called coke? These products have swept people off their feet and their generic names have given way to brand name. In advertising, there is what we call advertising spiral and this has to do with stages products pass through to have a share in the already saturated market. We have the Pioneering stage, Competitive stage and Retentive stage. Most of these products are in their retentive stage i.e they have come to stay, little or no advertising is required at this stage of a product's life cycle. NB: salt and garri ijebu in corporate world have grades (we all know the salt scientists say aid good memory) and anything that fall short of that cannot make good sales in a corporate world no matter the amount of advertisement. |

Some people are here justifying what the guy did with an excuse that those in the helm of affairs steal more than what the guy stole...fine! we all know there is inequality in the land and the judicial system isn't fair to the 'commoners' but, doing the same thing (stealing) we accuse our leaders of doing is not the way out. If all masses resort to stealing, I'm sure we all will be sleeping with our eyes half-closed because, we'll always be our own prey. What I'm saying in essence is that the guy's condition can never be as worse as some people's condition and yet, they still work very hard to make ends meet. Our leaders' kleptomaniac nature isn't an excuse for us to see spade and call it a tool for digging instead its real name. The guy deserves the jail term if not for anything at least for going back to crime after serving a jail term earlier. |
I don't know the appropriate section to post this but,the mods in this section should help me put it in the appropriate section and also put it on the front page...the information here might be useful to someone...thanks Federal Road Safety Commission has just come out with the concept of “ICE”..Please read carefully, it may save your life or that of someone you know "We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory. If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending to us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this 'ICE' (In Case of Emergency) Campaign. The concept of 'ICE' is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As mobile phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name 'ICE' ( In Case Of Emergency). The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents there were always mobile phones with patients but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as 'ICE'. Please forward this. It won't take too many 'forwards' before everybody will know about this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest. For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc |
