There was an attack on Gudunbali, Borno State this morning and some weapons were captured from the battalion. Two officers and 105 soldiers are still missing. As been military been reported by a military source on Wednesday November 18, almost 105 soldiers of the 157 Battalion, including their commanding officer, are feared missing after they came under powerful attack from Boko Haram insurgents at Gudunbali, Borno State. Rendering a source, the terrorists also captured a T-72 tank as well as several artillery weapons from the unit. As been reported by a source : “Gudunbali was attacked this morning and some weapons were captured from the battalion. Two officers and 105 soldiers are still missing,” “They captured a T-72 tank from the unit and some artillery weapons were also captured. The commanding Officer (CO) of the battalion is yet to be seen but no one has been confirmed dead yet,” the source added. One more source however said the T-72 tank was recovered after a prolonged fight with Boko Haram insurgents. The gunner and tank commander were injured in the process, he said. Also allegedly captured by the insurgents were eight vehicles, a truck loaded with 60,000 rounds of AA ammunition and three artillery pieces. Similarly, soldiers of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) stationed at Baga, Borno State also recently came under attack. The attack occurred in Geringiwa at about four kilometres to the headquarters. According to a source, the military has been unable to completely clear the insurgents from Baga and nearby towns due to inadequate equipment. The source explained that the equipment recently provided by the military hierarchy were inadequate and were not enough to go round to all units involved in the war against the insurgents. Boko Haram carried out a series of mass killings in Baga between January 3 and January 7, 2015, after the army headquarters there was sacked by the insurgents. Although the military later liberated the town, soldiers stationed in the area have come under constant attacks from the insurgents. Also on Sunday, Boko Haram insurgents attacked advancing soldiers about four hours drive to Damasak, in Borno state. But the spokesperson of the Army’s 7 Division,Tukur Gusau, also wouldn’t comment on the matter, saying the commander of the division would hold a press conference on the issue today (Thursday) and that it was not proper for him to pre-empt his commanding officer. The attacks on the military came on the heels of the suicide attacks on Yola and Kano respectively. After a lull of several weeks, the recent spike in attacks on military and civilian targets suggests the insurgents might have regrouped after coming under heightened attacks from the Nigerian military. The Nigerian military has claimed series of victories over the militants in recent weeks. On Monday, the army claimed that it captured and destroyed a factory where the group makes rockets and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). President of Barcelona Josep Maria Bartomeu has lastly reacted to the unbelievable news on likely exit of Lionel Messi to EPL. The Argentinian frontward is tangled in one of the extreme disgraces. Rumors specify that the Argentine desires to have a touch of the English Premier League (EPL) where Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City have all revealed interest to house the four time best player. Nevertheless, the president of barcelona has responded furiously to the rumors about the transfer saying: “People who say Messi is leaving Barcelona should be embarrassed. Messi is recovering for the Madrid-Barcelona game. He is hoping to play El Clasico, but injuries have their process. Leo and his father said they don’t imagine playing at another club. The relationship with the family is very good. We are not in the negotiation phase yet, when the time comes it will be presented. He has a contract for the next three seasons. Messi is very angry about the Spanish taxation. It is not normal, the information published on Leo Messi. If his tax advisers have made a mistake they have to pay like everyone else. Messi deserves respect as all do.” Talking about Neymar’s contract condition, the director furthermore added that: “On the renewal of Neymar, this is the season of his renewal, yes. But of course we try not to relay the negotiations and work quietly to be able to announce the extension of his contract.” Messi is presently suspended with a knee injury. As the screening of President Muhammadu Buhari ministers continue, some appointees have reportedly failed to pass anti-corruption test. The Department of State Service (DSS) recently received a much awaited list of 36 ministerial nominees for security screening. While DSS carries on the screening indications appeared that three immediate past governors, Babatunde Fashola, Rotimi Amaechi and Kayode Fayemi, have supposedly failed.Three former governors worked hard for Buhari’s presidential campaign to and were seen as top candidates for positions in the government. Nigerian Pilot reports that the DSS did not clear three ministerial appointees based on claims of corruption brought against them before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC). The source said that the security agency supposedly denied to clear Amaechi, Fashola, Fayemi because of a series of petitions written against them over accusations bordering on money laundering, fraud and misuse. The insider further added that when the trio appeared before the screening committee, they were opposed with the appeals and other related documents attached to the petitions. They reportedly have received orders from Buhari that any of the appointees with any harmful and fraud related issues should not be cleared by the security agency.Festus Odimegwu, a former managing director of Nigerian Breweries Limited, and a former presidential candidate, Pat Utomi, are also among the ministerial appointees that have been screened. Those already said to have been screened as nominees for President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet also include a former Governor of Osun State, Olagunsoye Oyinlola; and a Lagos-lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN). Also on the list are a former Chief of Army, Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazu (retd.); an ex-chief executive of the Federal Inland Revenue, Mrs. Ifueko Omoigui-Okaru; a former finance commissioner in Lagos State, Mr. Wale Edun; and a former National Legal Adviser to the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, Abubakar Malami (SAN). According to some sources Falana was favoured by a camp in the party to emerge as the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation. A top APC chieftain said the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and the national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, had persuaded Buhari to appoint Falana. Tinubu and Osinbajo were said to have told Buhari that appointing Falana, who he jailed over 30 years ago, would boost his image as a ‘converted democrat.’ It was, however, learnt that Malami was being favoured by the President. The APC has three former governors in Ekiti State: Niyi Adebayo, Segun Oni and Kayode Fayemi.“Falana has already been screened by the DSS. However, Buhari is closer to Malami who is from the North,” a source from APC said. Utomi, a famous economist and former presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, had been screened by the DSS and the police. Edun, who served under former Tinubu as Lagos state governor, had also been screened by security agencies. Odimegwu, nominated by the president, fell out with former president Goodluck Jonathan when he openly criticised the federal government. Odimegwu is also close to former President Olusegun Obasanjo. Oyinlola, a one-time secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, defected to the APC shortly before the Osun State governorship election and he is a close associate of Obasanjo. Another appointee, who asked not to be named, said: “Although I have met the director-general of the DSS twice, I don’t think such visits could be regarded as screening. “I understand the service has done its research on ministerial nominees. For now, nobody is sure of anything until the names are announced.” See full list below: 1. Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, former Osun State governor and ousted PDP national secretary. 2. Chief Bode Mustapha, former PDP National Auditor and an APC chieftain from Ogun state 3. Engineer Segun Oni, former Ekiti state governor and APC deputy national chairman (South West) 4. Kayode Fayemi, the immediate past governor of Ekiti state 5. Abba Ruma, a former Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources 6. Chief Kanu Agabi, a former Minister of Justice. 7. Donald Duke, a former Governor of Cross River state 8. Babatunde Fashola, the immediate past governor of Lagos state 9. Yinka Folashade Oredola 10. Chief Bayo Ojo (SAN), former Minster of Justice President Buhari had in Ghana reassured Nigerians and the international community that his cabinet is a must in September. In the lists of supposed ministers, which were circulating in the media, Fashola was predicted as AGF/Minister of Justice, while earlier he was supposed as minister of works and housing. Under the former governor state administration beholden $1.02bn which signifies 33.86 % of the country’s total sub-national external debts. Ex-governor of Rivers state was set to become new secretary to the government. Amaechi was also accused of dropping state into massive external indebtedness by a coalition of non-governmental organisations interested in transparency and responsibility in governance. Former governor of Ekiti state was also expected to play a key role in Buhari’s cabinet. |

A 66-year-old man, Eduardo Oviedo, allegedly tied his wife 61, and son 32, with chains and ropes. He kept them in a metal bar cage. Authorities in Argentina have reported the arrest of a man who not only locked his wife and autistic son in a cage for years, but went on to feed his child with dog food and fuel. Medical reports showed that Eduardo’s son could barely speak and his wife had developed psychiatric problems. According to Spanish newspaper La Nacion, Eduardo forced his son to eat animal food and drink fuel, which police found in the cage. The former construction worker allegedly fed his wife and son through the bars of the cage. Police has revealed that Eduardo will be charged with kidnapping and keeping his family in conditions of servitude, sources say he will also undergo a psychiatric evaluation. A conviction for the accused will mean he spends 15 years of his life behind bars. As of the time when this report was compiled, the victims were still at a hospital were they were being examined. It is yet to be verified, how many years Eduardo had kept his wife and child in the cage, as the police are still investigating crime. Analysts have tried to come up with reasons why Eduardo would commit such a crime. One of his daughters-in-law described him as a violent man who often made threats. One plausible explanation though is the fact that the 66-year-old was not proud of his son due to his autistic tendencies and probably felt shamed by his wife’s mental disability. President Goodluck Jonathan and his Chief Security Officer and the former Petroluem Minister spent $6.9 million dollars to buy three 40-feet mobile stages for use during mass public speaking events, investigations have now revealed. Federal government investigators and security agencies say this is just one of the tons of allegedly corrupt practices frequently engaged and condoned under the presidency of the immediate past president. Besides the fact that the sum for the stages have been incredibly inflated according to mobile stages industry experts, government investigators say there is no evidence as yet that any stage was purchased at all. While the cost of mobile stages range in size and designs, only outlandish rock star musicians in Europe and the U.S. spend hundreds of thousands on their huge stages way bigger than the 40-feet stages. Even then, those musicians and super stars would not pay over $2m per stage, according to industry sources. The process of procurement of the three mobile stages was neither known to extant Nigerian laws and due process regulations, nor were the offices of the Auditor-General and the Accountant-General in the know, according to investigators. “There are no records of this purchase which was carried out in late 2011,” says an authoritative source. This purchase was carried out only few months after Mr. Jonathan won a general election for a full term after having completed the term of late President Umaru Yar’adua. A competent source said that at the centre of the fraudulent financial ring was the former Chief Security Officer (CSO) to President Jonathan, Gordon Obuah, who initiated a memo to the former president on October 17, 2011 asking for the purchase of three mobile stages. He said in that memo to the former president that this is regarding “my earlier discussion with Your Excellency on the security implication of your public appearances and your subsequent directive on the need to procure a secured presidential platform”. And on the same day, without any financial advise or purchase order reviews, the former president minuted an approval of the request to buy the three stages to the then Minister for Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke. In his minute, the president said “we have discussed this, please deal.” Right after that okay from the president, on the same October 17, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Administrative Matters, Matt Aikhionbere did another letter on the strength of the president’s approval requesting the Petroluem Minister to take action on the request to purchase the stages for $6.9m. By the next month, an NNPC payment voucher number 3840336 was already in place revealing that the money was released. The NNPC directed that the money be taken from one of its accounts in New York CITIBANK with sort code CITIUS 33, and Routing number 021000089. It was first routed from the US bank to an NNPC account in Zenith Bank account number 5000026593, Maitama branch in Abuja, from where the money was sent to a private account. The sum of $6.9m was then credited to a Sterling Bank account of one J. Marine Logistics Limited, Abuja, a company investigators say was registered by Obuah. The CSO himself according to investigators have not been able to show proof of the purchase and his memo irked his bosses at the SSS that he took the initiative to write requesting for the stages, an action officials say was way above his pay grade. Said an official of one of the security agencies conducting the investigation, “it is not the duty or responsibility of the CSO to make the determination on that purchase. He was meant to have informed the service, which will then review the situation and act accordingly.” The source continued: “What has happened here is that the former president and the former minister with the collusion of the CSO decided to dip their hands into the public till and steal public funds for other purposes since no one has found the stages as we speak.” The source said specifically that the $6.9miilion in question was promptly paid on November 29, 2011 into a private account belonging to the former CSO. “The former president approved the procurement of the mobile platforms without due process, bypassing the Procurement Act. “There was also no appropriation in the 2011 budget for such facility,” investigators said. The source added that neither the minister of Finance nor the Director-General of the Budget Office was aware of the deal. Investigators say this is just one of the several instances where the Jonathan administration used secret NNPC accounts to fund many questionable projects and for alleged personal financial aggrandizement. Already the CSO has been questioned over his role and activities in the Jonathan presidency. It would be recalled that he was arrested, detained, questioned and later released. Former President Jonathan and Mrs. Alison-Madueke could not be reached for comments. But when contacted by PREMIUM TIMES, Mr. Obuah denied initiating or engaging in any such transaction. “The allegation is totally false and baseless,” the former CSO said through his lawyer, Andrew Itsekiri. “There was nothing like that. No such memo was initiated and no such money was released to him. They are just levying allegations they cannot substantiate against him. “It is one of the allegations he was confronted with by the SSS, and it was found that they were pack of lies. Let NNPC come out with the records that any such funds were released to him.” There has been considerable pressure mounted on the Buhari administration regarding its determination to probe allegations of corruption in the past, including from the National Peace Committee headed by the former Head of State, General Abdusalami Abubakar. A member of that committee, Bishop Mathew Kukah, is also known alongside Mr. Abubakar and others in the Committee to have been involved in attempts to mellow-out the resolve of President Buhari in his determination to probe and deal decisively with tremendous corrupt practices especially during the last six to eight years. Reecall that at the June 29 meeting of the National Economic Council at the state House, the council raised questions over the non- remittance of the finances generated by the NNPC into the federation account. NEC found that whereas the NNPC claimed to have earned about N8.1trillion in the last two years, what NNPC paid into the Federation Account during the same period was about N4.3 trillion, keeping the balance in its several secret accounts, allowing the former president and his cronies access to such unknown accounts to do as they please. Consequently, NEC set up a four-man committee to investigate the missing money. The committee, made up of Governors of Edo, Kaduna, Akwa Ibom and Gombe, submitted an interim report to NEC but in addition appointed financial experts to conduct forensic audit of the accruals into the federation account and the withdrawals from the excess crude account. Its becoming or will i say the undefined power supply in Nigeria has now been improved, those this signifies nigeria becoming a better country or that we now have a good government. Well here are reason to which Power Supply in the nation has now been improved. The anti-corruption disposition of President Muhammadu Buhari has been matched to the improved gas supply and relative stability in power supply across the nation. Baba Umar Mustapha the acting Managing Director of Yola Electricity Distribution Company, YEDC stated this in his maiden interaction with journalists at the headquarters of Yola DISCO. Baba Umar Mustapha who debunked insinuations linking improvement in power supply experienced across the nation to the rainy season, said the notion while incorrect, had gained currency because most people think power generation often peaks during rainy season due to power generation from the hydro-electric power stations in the country. Relatively, he said the improvement in power supply, which is being witnessed across the nation, was due to anti- corruption disposition of the Muhammadu Buhari presidency as well as improvement in gas supply to the various thermal generating plants. Mustapha noted that the investors had been told to either shape up or ship out. Also the new acting managing director also informed that with the improvement of power supply, Mubi Town has been reconnected to national grid after several months of being in the dark. Furthermore also canvassed the assistance of the Federal Government to allow the restoration of power supply to some Borno towns following the reconnection of Mubi Town in Adamawa State to the national grid. Mubi twn owhich fell to Boko Haram at the height of the onslaught of the insurgency has been in blackout since October last year following the destruction of key power installations as a result of the war waged by the military to retake the captured town renamed Madinatul Islam by the insurgents. “They could have said there is gas supply improvement to the thermal power generation plants because the hydro-electric power stations do not contribute up to 25% of our demands for now, though they are more reliable. “The bottom line is that there’s a gas supply improvement in the system and partly also because of the zero tolerance for corruption by the present government has also contributed. Because it is no longer business as usual, whether you generate and make your money or you pack and go,” Mustapha stated. He also noted that the Yola DISCO was privately owned and not unlike other privately-owned entities does not get subvention from the Federal Government, hence was responsible for paying the emoluments of its employees through the revenues it generates. Moreso he revealed plans to take YEDC to greater heights even as he debunked insinuation that the company had been returned to the government. He had also warned staff against corrupt practices, saying any staff found guilty of sharp practices would be fired. READ MORE : http://naijatroller.com/see-reasons-for-the-improved-power-supply/ |
Bukola Saraki after hijacking the key positions in the Senate from the APC-appointed candidates for himself with the PDP’s help is trying to reconcile with the APC leadership and personally Muhammadu Buhari . But it turned out that Buhari and the APC leadership refuse to accept Saraki’s apologies. Recent reports have shown that Bukola Saraki is trying to find the ways to bury the hatchet of cold war with the APC leadership and Muhammadu Buhari after he hijacked the key positions in the Senate on June 9 with help of some PDP members. But it turned out that Buhari and the APC leaders refuse to accept Saraki’s apologies. According to these reports, a group of senators loyal to Bukola Saraki have met Muhammadu Buhari this week with the purpose of finding ways of reconciliation with him and the leadership of the APC party. The group included the Senate leader, Ali Ndume, accompanied by Senators Abdullahi Adamu, Adamu Aliero, Danjuma Goje and Kabiru Gaya. Earlier Bukola Saraki reportedly arranged meetings with Olusegun Obasanjo and the Emir of Kano Lamido Sanusi with the same purpose of reconciliation. According to some reports, Ndume also made a trip to Lagos to meet Bola Tinubu and the APC leadership on the same matter. However, these reports haven’t been verified by Ndume. The press gathered evidence that the meeting of the group of Saraki’s loyalists with Buhari, which took place a couple of days ago at presidential villa in Abuja wasn’t successful. It was reported previously that Muhammadu Buhari refused to host Bukola Saraki at Aso Rock since he emerged as the President of the Senate in the controversial election on June 9. It seems like Saraki’s peace group wasn’t able to change Buhari’s point of view about that despite Saraki’s emissaries reportedly apologised for their own roles in the NASS crisis. A source close to Ahmed Lawan who was supposed by Buhari and the APC to embrace the senate presidency, has told the press that “we were aware of the meeting between the President and the affected Senators,” adding that “they [Saraki’s loyalists] said they are after peace, but without putting options on the table.” Another source in the APC party told the press that “Saraki’s loyalists stuck to their script which has put the Senate on the edge and created mutual distrust between the President and the Senate President.” At the same time Lai Mohammed, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, said that while he can’t comment on the issue of the meeting between Buhari and Saraki’s emissaries, “the APC has made its position on party supremacy known.” A source in Tinubu’s camp confirmed that “Tinubu’s take is that the senate should toe the party line. It is not a personal problem at all. If it were a personal problem, the President won’t be reacting the same way.” A source at the meeting with Buhari, who pleaded anonymity, reportedly said: “It was actually a family affair thing. When you see a threat coming, you do not need to wait till it becomes a bigger challenge.“ READ MORE : http://naijatroller.com/buhari-and-his-faithful-caucus-refuse-sarakis-apologies/ CC: LALASTICLALA CC: ISHILOVE

Following the news, the Vice-Chancellor of OAU, Prof. Bamitale Omole, said this was the first time in the history of higher education in Nigeria where one university “would maintain its position the first and the best in the country for more than four consecutive times.” Omole commended the ranking, while attributing the feat to years of the hard work and dedication to duty of the academic, administrative and technical staff “whose contributions have placed the university far and above more than 100 other universities in Nigeria.” His statement read, “Prof. Omole emphasised his determination to make training and retraining of staff, on a regular basis, his topmost priority, adding that he would not rest on his oars until OAU becomes the best in Africa and one of the top ten in the world.” Omole called on the Federal government to invest more funds into the university education in the country in order to achieve more. Vice-chancellor also called on the alumni of the university to assist the school in the overall development of the institution “so that the OAU would grow more in leaps and bounds in the realisation of the dreams of the founding fathers.” more : http://naijatroller.com/obafemi-awolowo-university-ranks-best-varsity-in-nigeria-institute/ cc: lalasticlala cc: ishiluv |

Windows 10 comes with new features that make it an attractive upgrade. Whether you're looking to try the new Start experience or if you just want to talk to your new assistant, Cortana, there are a few things you should do before you upgrade. To ensure that your system can handle Windows 10, you should check the Windows 10 Upgrade Advisor. When you get a notification in your taskbar to reserve your free copy of Windows 10, you can click the hamburger menu on the top left, navigate to Check Your PC and run the Advisor to ensure that your hardware and software will work with the latest version of Windows. Microsoft will run a check, and you'll get feedback on whether your installed software or hardware is compatible with Windows 10. Once you know how upgrade-ready your system is, here are a few things to do before you actually take the Windows 10 plunge: Create a recovery disk or drive with your current OS You have a full month to test drive Windows 10, and if you don't like it, Microsoft will let you go back to your original OS before you upgrade. But what if you found an issue in the second month? At this point, the only way to downgrade is to use your own Windows recovery discs to reinstall your old version of Windows. If you own a newer system that didn't come with a recovery disc, you'll want to create your own recovery media, either on a DVD or USB stick. Some manufacturers ship machines with special backup and recovery software that allows you to create your own backup of the Windows install. If your system doesn't have any special software, you can use the Recovery Tool that ships with Windows. The recovery media that you create will contain the Windows installation files along with any special drivers and preloaded third-party software that shipped with your machine. Back up your files When you upgrade to Windows 10 from a system running Windows 7, 8 or 8.1, you'll be presented with three options. You can keep everything, just your files or nothing at all and start fresh. If you choose the first option, your files, settings and any installed apps will be kept and you'll migrate to Windows 10 with everything intact. The second option retains just your files, but any apps you installed or settings you may have tweaked will be removed. Even though the process is seamless, you should back up any important files before the transition. You can choose to back up files by copying them to an external hard drive or USB flash drive, or you can upload them to the cloud. If you're forced to start from scratch, you'll at least have your important files, photos and documents backed up. Associate your Microsoft ID before you upgrade Microsoft says that a Microsoft ID is not a requirement to upgrade to Windows 10, and I haven't heard of any issues resulting in botched Windows 10 upgrades as a result of not having having a Microsoft ID associated with your current version of Windows. However, I did encounter issues on a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Third Generation that Microsoft sent with Windows 10 preloaded with no associated Microsoft ID. When I tried the upgrade process again with a Microsoft ID, I had no issues at all with Windows 10. To associate your Microsoft ID to your PC, you'll need to swipe in from the right edge of the screen if you're on Windows 8 or 8.1 and tap on Settings. You'll want to go to tap on Change My PC Settings, click Accounts and select Your Accounts. From there, you can either associate an existing Microsoft ID or create a new one. Having an associated Microsoft ID is also beneficial if you're upgrading machines. When you buy a new PC and sign in, your desktop and settings can automatically synchronize from your old system to your new one when you're connected to the internet Software compatibility If you chose to upgrade and retain all your files, settings and apps, most of the programs that you had installed on Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 will run fine on Windows 10, but there will be some exceptions. In my case, I found that Office 2013 Professional, Adobe Creative Suite 6 and a few other titles ran just as smoothly as they did prior to the upgrade. Should you encounter issues, sometimes uninstalling and reinstalling may fix compatibility issues. If you do this, you'll want to make sure you have your license keys available to reinstall your software. If this doesn't work, you may have to reach out to your software's creators to see if an update is ready for Windows 10 compatibility. Additionally, you may need to reinstall drivers or upgrade existing drivers for compatibility. Windows 10 runs a compatibility scan during the upgrade process, and it will warn you if there are any conflicts. If you have driver issues, you can visit your computer manufacturer's website and navigate to the support page. Usually, downloadable files for divers are found there. Be secure about Windows If your system comes with a compatible Intel RealSense 3D camera or a fingerprint scanner, you can gain security and convenience with Windows Hello. see more: http://naijatroller.com/ways-to-prepare-for-windows-10-upgrade/ c.c lalasticlala c.c ishiluv |
For the registration of the Bank Verification Number, as directed by the Central Bank of Nigeria, Nigerians in London, United Kingdom, have expressed frustration over the Obligatory payment of £30 (about N10, 000). Some of them went to the Nigeria High Commission in London to protest against the directive of the apex bank during the week . Others took to the social media to vent their anger. CBN had prolonged the deadline for the BVN registration from June 30 to October 31, 2015 as disclosed in a circular issued to all deposit money banks operating in the country. Mr. Dipo Fatokun the Director, Banking and Payment Systems Department of the CBN, , said the extension became imperative in order to give bank customers more time to participate in the enrollment exercise. “It has come to our notice that the BVN registration has elicited tremendous interest from the Nigerian banks’ customers who crowded the banking halls in order to beat the deadline. “More so, there is the need to give Nigerian banks’ customers in the Diaspora ample time to enrol on the programme. The guideline for their enrolment is being finalised and will be released soon.” Though the BVN registration in Nigeria is free, Nigerians living in London have had to part with N10, 000 to enrol on the exercise. The directive was said to have been issued by the apex bank, as confirmed by the UK chapter of the All Progressives Congress and Zenith Bank. The APC, UK chapter, had asked the bank on Twitter about the authenticity of the directive and the bank replied, saying, “The letter is genuine. The fee is as communicated by CBN and the enrolment company was contracted by the CBN. We trust this helps.” Meanwhile, a user on Nairaland, by the name klem93, said he was shocked to have seen photos of Nigerians thronging the Nigeria High Commission in London in frustration. He wrote, “I thought it is going to be smooth sailing as I read that BVN for Nigerians in London had begun. I didn’t know it is going to be the same way as it went in Nigeria. A reader of my blog who lives in London wrote me an email: ‘The Nigeria High Commission in London needs an urgent overhaul. This afternoon, we Nigerians were treated like animals in Fleet Street, London, all because we wanted to do BVN for those of us who have accounts in Nigeria. “Soon things became chaotic and someone called police on us. They allowed us to converge on the street and then locked us out. We were also being forced to pay £30.00 each, but none of the officials or the website could explain what the money was meant for. Is it not free in Nigeria?” Eleojoe23, another user of the Nairaland, protested, “£30? What for? They truly deserve an explanation. Maybe the high commission thinks that since they live in London, they should have enough money to spare. Do they think people just go out and pick money on the streets in London?” Julioralph, said, “30 pounds for what? Members of staff at the high commission should be changed. Even the CBN is at fault as well; they don’t have proper plans for those abroad concerning this BVN stuff.” Trying to get the comment of the ministry’s spokesperson, Ogbole Ahmedu-Ode, were not successful as he could not be reached on the phone. He also did not respond to a text message that was sent to him. Finding at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs showed that the ministry was not involved in the BVN registration held in the UK. more on : http://naijatroller.com/nigerians-pay-n10-000-for-bvn-in-uk/ |

He said "So you can go to any length of speculation that you might want, I have not responded to all of that because I understand the president and the president understands me clearly.”He also said he’s behind Buhari over NASS crisis and that the party is supreme. “That is an area where I am very cautious of my position and my utterances. Bayelsa State Governor paid 100 million Naira to Hacking Team, To Hack Computers and Phones In Nigeria is currently under case by the office of the National Security Adviser by allegation forging sensitive national documents in the process of purchase hacking solutions for the Italian firm, Premium Times investigation has revealed. Mr Dickson is said to have not only hacked phones in Nigeria, but equally imported high types cyber attack tools without an End User Certificate, a prerequisite for the purchase of international defense tools including cyber defense and warfare, according to the report said. The hacking Team itself hacked recently with 415GB of client files, contracts, financial documents, and internal emails, some as recent as 2015, publicly made available for download. “There is no way the National Security Adviser officials would have issued an End User Certificate for Bayelsa governor to purchase such cyber war tools. He will need to explain how he obtained the Certificate with which he bought the tools and what laws empowered him to embark on hacking of citizens’ computers and phones,” an official told the investigative newspaper stating conditions for importation and use of such weapons. The National Security Adviser officials also said it would have turned down the request if it were approached citing the case of former Akwa Ibom state governor, Godswill Akpabio who made a similar request. “Only federal security agencies are allowed to acquire such cyber defence tools. Mr. Dickson’s hacking activities are illegal,” the officials at the National Security Adviser officials told PREMIUM TIMES. Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made up a section to investigate a music video by a Nigerian popular artiste, Davido, in which he displayed a substance suspected to be hard drugs. The video titled, ‘Fans mi’, in which he featured an American rapper and member of the Maybach Group, Meek Mill, portrayed Davido with a briefcase filled with dollars with another bag filled with package of a substance suspected to be hard drugs. Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju the director of Public Affairs of the NDLEA told SUNDAY PUNCH on Saturday that the investigative section might invite the hip-hop artiste for questioning if the need arose. The director said: “I am aware that a section is working on it (the video). The section was set up soon after the video was released few weeks ago. When our attention was drawn to it, we viewed it and we discovered that it was improper. There is no virtual lesson in the video but advertisement of drug trafficking. In the video, he exchanged a brief case supposedly containing narcotics for dollars. He was showing an indigence in the video. If it had point of grate force in an arrest and possible detention, we would have congratulated him for partnering with us. But the way he portrayed drug trafficking in the video was a means to an end, which the end is a life of influx which we disagree with.” Ofoyeju said the anti-drug agency would conduct a full-scale investigation into the making of the video and to confirm whether it was censored before its release. The NDLEA spokesperson further said,: “We are looking at the issue holistically. We believe that there should be a body that was supposed to censor videos before they go out. Those are the things we want to investigate and verify. Was the video submitted for approval? If it was submitted, why was it approved, with such content?” NDLEA had in June 2013 said controversial Nigerian actress, Tonto Dikeh, risked a minimum of 15 years in jail for encouraging the consumption of hemp. Dikeh had on June 28, 2013, posted photographs of a wrap of hemp and grains of the weed formed into the letters, ‘Happy birthday POKO.’ read more :http://naijatroller.com/davido-on-trail-by-ndlea-for-act-in-his-fans-mi-video/

Story highlights: – “Many people do not feel safe, especially in the North“. – “Government must not negotiate with terrorists“. – “Boko Haram apparently is not interested in making a deal with the government”. There have been a lot of deadly boko haram attacks in the north for two months now and more than 400 Nigerians have been killed within this time. This is a ‘disaster’ A lot of people in the north do not feel safe in their worship places. They don’t feel safe at home or at work and they don’t even feel safe when they go out to the streets. For how long will people keep living this way and what is government doing to stop this massacre? President Buhari’s spokesman Femi Adesina, said last week that the government will consider negotiating with the terrorists in order to end the attacks. He said: “Most wars, however furious or vicious, often end around the negotiation table. So if boko haram opts for negotiation, the government will not be averse to it. Government will, however, not be negotiating from a position of weakness but that of strength”. Is this the way to go about solving this problem? Should the government negotiate with the boko haram and will this stop the bloodshed? A case in point is the Niger Delta militancy that happened about 10 years ago. A group rose up and started to kidnap expatriates and bomb oil facilities to provoke government to address the problems in the region. The crisis cost the government a lot of money because it disrupted oil supply, and although the government fought the militants at first under Obasanjo, it backed down and sued for peace later when Late Yar’Adua was president. Yar’Adua offered the militants an amnesty deal and they surrendered, and soon the crisis was finished. That crisis is pretty different from what is happening now in the north, because the Delta militants were apparently fighting for a cause that people believed in. But boko haram is not like that. These terrorists are killing people to destabilise the government and seize control so they can cause more ruin. People are getting killed in the north because the government has not been able to win its fight against the insurgents. So if a peace talk will end this frequent bloodshed, a lot of Nigerians (especially those in the danger zones) will be happy with the government on that. Boko Haram has killed over 20,000 Nigerians till date and it still keeps killing people. Negotiating with these criminals will be a disappointment to many Nigerians who voted for this current president, because they believed he would lead the army to crush the boko haram. More so, last year, reports came up that the boko haram had decided to negotiate with the government and hammer out a deal. The so called peace talk received some hype and there were positive expectations while it presumably lasted. But it turned to be a complete sham. There were no peace talks and the terrorists began pounding the north again soon after the whole thing ended. Nigerians will be gutted to see a repeat of that under President Buhari. They have put too much faith in this administration to accept anything short of victory against these rouges. The boko haram apparently is not interested in making a deal with the government anyway, so the president’s spokesman was just being hypothetical. However, what we now know is that these terrorists are not out to negotiate peace. They just want to go on killing and destroying. Reportedly the dreaded sect has offered to release the kidnapped Chibok girls in exchange for the militant leaders held by the government.
