All praises are due to Allah alone. May His blessings be upon the holy Prophet Muhammad, his household and the generality of Muslims till the Day of Judgment. It is a fundamental belief in Islam that all souls will return to Allah, their Creator. It is not surprising, therefore, that significant number of verses and chapters of the Qur’an teach human beings especially on what provisions to take along for that long journey to accountability. “Everyone shall taste death, and unto us (Allah) you shall be returned” Suratul Ankabut (Q29: 57). What a favour from the Lord of the worlds who would test man on his actions and yet has provided him with answers to the quiz! A mercy and honour it is, again, from this Lord that He made for us in this world, stations at which we are able to halt and pick up our breath, assess ourselves, re-arrange our provisions and come up with new spirit and higher ambitions that would assist us to have a soft landing before Him. One of these stations is the month of Ramadan. The most valuable of the provisions to take along to the hereafter is taqwa (piety), and that is the goal of Ramadan. “O you who believe! Fasting (in Ramadan) is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you that you may become pious’’ Suratu Baqarah (Q2: 197). Taqwa in Islam is that righteousness which leads to perfect relationship with Allah, the manifestation of which is a perfect relationship with the creatures of Allah. One cannot suffice without the other. “And who is better in religion than the one who submits his face (himself) to Allah, while he is also of the best deeds’’ Suratu Nisai (Q4: 125). One of the errors people fall into is to concentrate on one aspect to the detriment of the other. The relationship is clear - increase in level of piety in a person increases his level of good deeds and vice versa. That is why the month of Ramadan has been regarded as the month of work, full of initiatives that are geared towards strengthening affinity with the Creator and better relationship with the creatures. For those activities that can assist man to move closer to Allah, here are some tips: As-Siyam (fasting) The soul is the greatest obstacle in the journey to Allah, and only he who takes his soul away from lust and other inherent weaknesses will be saved. One of the greatest means to achieve this is fasting. Therefore, brothers and sisters, seize this opportunity and observe the 29 or 30 days fast of Ramadan, no matter what it costs you (except in circumstances that are beyond your control). Qur’an A light to the hearts of the believers, a healing to the diseases of the heart and guidance from the Lord of the worlds: “We have revealed the Qur’an, as a cure (for the heart) and mercy for the believers, and it adds nothing to the unjust but loss” - Suratu Israi (Q17: 82). Ibn Qayyim said: “The reader would benefit from the Qur’an only when his tongue, his intellect and the heart jointly participate in the process.” The tongue involves in correct pronunciation, the intellect does the interpretation of the message while the heart of the believer receives the admonition wherefrom. Therefore, do not make your recitation a mere mechanical exercise, strive to benefit from it. Sodaqah (charity) Unlike in man-made postulations, the more you spend in Islam, the more you earn. Giving charity clears the heart of egoism, repels calamities, makes affairs easy, protects from evil and removes the anger of the Lord. Those who wish to meet their Lord as favoured servants should spend from what Allah has provided for them. ‘’So, give to the kinsmen their right, and to the needy and the wayfarer. That is better for those who seek Allah’s pleasure -Suratu Rum (Q30: 38). The mosque The heart of the believer waivers from one state to another as a result of a continuous strife between inclinations of faith and those of desires. The mosque is that link that can tie the heart firmly to the state of faith. O Muslims, make the mosque your second home in Ramadan and gain the favours of your Lord. Ad-Du’a (Supplication) In Ramadan, the gates of Heaven are opened and that of hell are closed. Shayateen (evils) are chained and the Lord is more ready to accept the requests of His servants. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: “Know that Allah does not answer a supplication of a heedless heart.” Therefore, let your tongue and your heart participate in your supplications. Qiyamul Lael (night prayer) When the day disappears and people lie in their beds after the day’s struggle, wake up to glorify your Lord, ask Him for forgiveness of your sins, submit yourself in humility and present your requests to the Lord of the worlds. Through this, your heart is purified and tranquility from your Lord descends unto you. Maximise virtuous moments Allah, in His wisdom, honours some moments over others and deeds in such periods fetch greater rewards. The last part of the night, the beginning of the day, last part of the day, the day of Jumah and the night of destiny (laelatul qadr) are some of those moments. Strive to be among the successful ones who seize the advantage of these virtous periods to get closer to their Lord, by involving in acts of worship, thereby gaining His honour and mercy. I’tikaf Ibn Rajab said: “The reality of I’tikaf is to cut relationship with creatures in order to have connection with the Creator.” O you Muslim, create time to seclude yourself in the mosque, even if for a brief period. Try to make it especially in the nights of the last 10 days of this month. Perhaps you will be blessed with the Night of Majesty (Laelatul Qadr). For those tools to enhance relationships with fellow human beings, the following activities would benefit you greatly: Goodness to wife and children It is a commandment from your Lord. “O you who believe, save yourself and your families from a fire, the fuel of which is human beings and stones.’’ -Suratu Tahrim (Q66: 6). In this coming month of Ramadan, carry members of your household along in your activities. Draw a programme that would allow you to spend more time with them. Pray together, break fast together, study the Qur’an together and make joint supplications. Joining family ties The prophet of Allah (SAW) said: “There is no sin that is more deserving that Allah hastens the punishment for the one who commits it in this world, in addition to what is in stock for him in the hereafter than cutting family ties, betrayal and lies. “O Muslim, use this season to visit relations, or contact them through phones and letters. Settle all differences that have existed between you and any of them. Giving food It is one of the doors to Allah’s mercy. The messenger of Allah said: “Whoever feeds one who is fasting has the reward like that of the one he has fed without reducing the reward of the one who is fasting.’’ Solving other people’s problems The prophet (SAW) said: “The most beloved of people to Allah are those who are beneficial. And the most beloved deed to Allah is the joy that you put in the heart of a Muslim or the worry you take away from him or the debt you pay for him or the hunger you remove from him. And for me to walk with my Muslim brother over his need is more beloved to me than to engage in I’tikaf in the mosque for a month. Whoever holds his anger, Allah will cover his defects, and whoever conceals his rage-which if he had wanted to display it he can do-Allah will fill his heart with pleasure on the day of resurrection. Whoever walks with a Muslim brother to take care of his need till it is fully done, Allah will make his feet firm on the day feet would be slipping. Bad character destroys deed just like vinegar destroys honey.” There are others like reconciling people who are in feud, showing mercy and magnanimity. To achieve your aim, organise your programme, avoid time wasting, shun excessive sleeping, eat less, talk less and work the more. O Muslim bothers and sisters, remember that all activities you do in Ramadan are not ends in themselves, but means to achieve a sole objective-piety. Therefore, let your limbs, your intellect and heart participate in each of them. Some Muslims view Ramadan as a burden, and wish that it disappears quickly. What an irony! How possible is it for the One who creates and nourishes you and wishes a soft landing for you in paradise by sending messengers and holy books to ever wish evil for you? The best time to reciprocate the gestures of your Lord is now. Seize this Ramadan period to seek His forgiveness and favour. You may not live to witness another. Dnt forget to check back for more. May Almighty ALLAH accept our IBADAH. Ameeeeen RAMADAN MUBARAQ SOURCE: http://naijatroller.com/ways-to-achieve-the-goal-of-ramadan/ |

Nigeria’s Super Eagles won her first match against Chad in their first match at the ongoing 2017 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) qualifier in Kaduna, northern Nigeria. Gbolahan Salami scored in the 63rd minute while Odion Ighalo’s introduction in the second half ensured a wrap for the Nigerian team. The talking point pf the game was when Ogenyi Onazi was given his marching orders in the 79th minute for needlessly shoving aside a Chadian player after Nigeria had won a penalty against their west African neighbour. Nigeria’s next match is away to Tanzania on September 6, 2015 in the group which also has seven-time African Champions, Egypt. 90’+3 Full Time at the Ahmadu Bello, Kaduna. The Okoye brothers, P Square In a recent chat with Nigerian Camera cleared the air on why they have not been to church for eight years. In as much as they gave good reasons, fans did not find them as genuine reasons. In their words: “Each time we attend, other worshipers would not listen to the Pastor’s sermon again. All eyes will just be on us. Instead of praying, some people will even decide to be starring at us. We were not comfortable with that and thought we were distracting a lot of people from serving their God, so we said to ourselves that we should stop going. All men are equal before God, so we don’t encourage people to abandon their primary purpose of being in church because of us” source: http://naijatroller.com/why-psquare-havent-been-to-church-for-8years/ |

The Presidency has released a statement saying that President Buhari has noted the outcome of the elections of Senator Bukola Saraki and Hon Yakubu Dogara as Senate President and Speaker House of Representatives respectively. President Buhari in the statement reiterated his earlier position that he doesn’t wants to be drawn into the politics of the National Assembly but will work with whoever the lawmakers elect as their leaders. The statement made available to journalists by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina reads in part; “President Buhari had said in an earlier statement that he did not have any preferred candidate for the Senate and the House of Representatives, and that he was willing to work with whoever the lawmakers elected. That sentiment still stands. Though he would have preferred the new leaders to have emerged through the process established by the party.” source: http://naijatroller.com/buhari-promises-to-work-with-bukola-saraki/ |
Reports say President Muhammadu Buhari, may have boycotted the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in reaching decisions on ministerial appointments. According to Sundiata Post, Buhari has been in regular discussions with the immediate past president, Goodluck Jonathan and other former Nigerian leaders including Ibrahim Babangida, Abdulsalami Abubakar, Olusegun Obasanjo, Yakubu Gowon and Shehu Sagari on whom to appoint as members of the next Federal Executive Council (FEC). The president’s action, it was revealed, was due to some unrealistic demands of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, national leader of the APC, alongside other chieftains of the party. The revelation was made last weekend among some friends of Femi Adesina, the special adviser on media and publicity to the president, during a ‘thank you’ visit to Buhari at the defence house in Abuja. It was suggested that this may have also been the reason president Buhari has kept the APC leaders in the dark concerning major and crucial decisions of government. After the meeting, the president said that he would run an all-inclusive government against the thoughts of Tinubu and some APC caucuses, adding that Nigeria is an aircraft while Tinubu and the APC are its pilots. An anonymous source within the Defence house said: “Nigerians will be shocked when President Buhari completes the list of who becomes ministers, advisers and all other key positions in a few weeks. source: http://naijatroller.com/buhari-snubs-tinubu-as-apc-consults-jonathan/ |
President Muhammadu Buhari’s determination to reduce corruption in governance seem to have begun. The president has issued a warning to his incoming ministers to stay away from approving payments for contractors. The ministers are expected to be appointed in the coming weeks. The government new policy clearly states that only the heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies are saddled with such responsibilities. According to the Head of Service of the Federation (HoSF), Danladi Kifasi, the Buhari government wants to keep the political class away from issues of finance. He made the disclosure recently at a media briefing in Abuja. He said: “If a minister travels out and payment is due, we cannot afford to wait for the ministers to come back before we pay.” Findings by Saturday Vanguard revealed that the HoSF was instructed to make the statement following a constant clash between permanent secretaries of major Federal Government ministries and former ministers in the Jonathan government over the payment of contractors. Most permanent secretaries and directors of accounts in the ministries fell out with many of the former ministers following their refusal to pay contractors favoured by them. The Buhari government has however reversed the trend, warning that henceforth, no permanent secretary should allow any minister handle the award and payment for contracts. The HoSF made it clear that approval of payments for contracts are to be handled by directors of the major ministries and accounting officers. He said, “The President has said that his administration will concentrate on policy issues and so we civil servants are re-directing our efforts and minds towards achieving or aligning with the president’s directive. “Payments are normally approved by the accounting officers. In a parastatal, it is either the managing director or the director-general. In the ministry it is the permanent secretary and not the minster. “In the procurement process, ministers do not approve either. It is the Ministerial Tenders Board that sits to consider and approve contracts within their approval threshold. If it is beyond the Board, it goes to the Federal Executive Council. “The only thing a minister does is that he signs the council memo for the procurement that goes to the Federal Executive Council. For the Ministerial Tenders Board which is usually chaired by the Permanent Secretary; the Permanent Secretary sends his report and the minutes of the tenders board to the minister for his concurrence and endorsement. That is their role “For instance, if ministers were asked to be approving payments, now that there are no ministers will work then stop? So it is actually a misinformation.” “Consequently, permanent secretaries, Directors, Chief executives of parastatals and agencies are to take appropriate steps to address this situation. All public servants are to note that measures as enshrined in the Public Service Rules will be enforced on erring officers,” he concluded. source: http://naijatroller.com/buhari-stop-ministers-from-approving-payments-for-contracts/ |

A report on Technology Times suggests there are discrepancies in the“digital dividend” frequency spectrum secretly issued to the chairman of Visafone and Zenith Bank, Jim Ovia and Globacom’s Mike Adenuga. The newspaper had recently reported that the spectrum was given to them based on the relationship they have with former president, Goodluck Jonathan. Ovia, owner of an IT company called Cyber Space recently wrote to the regulatory body of the Telecoms sector , Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), offering to return the spectrum. His request was granted and his N3 billion payment refunded immediately. The frequency is likely to be open for another round of bidding and expected to cost even more. “Digital dividend” is on high demand coveted by telecoms companies across the world as it enables them to launch a faster mobile broadband service, The Cable reports. The spectrum is available after the migration of broadcasting from analogue to digital, thereby freeing part of the electromagnetic spectrum previously used for broadcasting. Meanwhile, Nigerians have been reacting to the orders of President Muhammadu Buhari to the top echelons in the Nigerian military to immediately move its headquarters to Maidugiri, the capital of Borno State. source: http://naijatroller.com/how-jim-ovia-disgrace-jonathan-due-to-fear-of-buhari/ |

The father of your children had an accident, what actually led to the break up? Hmm… I want to say something today, I don’t really want to talk about my relationship with my children’s father. It is a thing of the past and I don’t really want to talk about it. Saidi and I are best friends, and it is going to be like that. Aisha Buhari Wore Very Expensive Wristwatch On the side of the case is an octagonal crown set with a diamond. The case is 44mm high, 35mm wide and 10mm thick and is covered by glare-proof sapphire crystal glass. President Buhari is known to be the strong anti-corruption, integrity and pro-masses man. This scandalous expensive watch of his wife runs contrary to previous signs that family is modest and the president is a pastoral farmer with 150 cows from small village Daura, hardly raised the money to pay for his presidential nomination form. Many Nigerians have expressed sureness in the ability of Buhari to fight corruption by cutting administration waste and running a lean government. There were speculations that the President Buhari has broken one of his electoral promises as the official portrait for the First Lady has been released hours after his inauguration. The president recently said that there was no official role for presidents’ wives described in the constitution of the country. Again, Buhari’s nomination on May 31, Sunday of two Spokesmen has drawn criticisms from some Nigerians who say one spokesperson is enough for a Government that is seeking change and a radical departure from the supposed wastage of past governments. President Goodluck Jonathan has appealed to his fellow Nigerian compatriots to forgive him for all his transgressions. He also pleaded for their understanding. Jonathan spoke today at the Aso Villa Chapel, where a valedictory service was held for him, to mark the end of his five year reign in Nigeria. Jonathan who noted that no system including his administration is perfect, urged Nigerians to forgive him in any way he has erred. He said since nobody was perfect, there was no way he would not have done some things that some people would found annoying, saying he did not do such things deliberately. He observed that there are times one would take a decision in the best interest of all but even friends would misunderstand the situation. Buhari’s And Nigerians May Not Last Long Editor’s note: Ben Murray-Bruce, the Chairman of Silverbird Group, advises Muhammadu Buhari how to move the country forward, stressing that the president-elect must think of what is best for Nigeria rather than what is best for his party and its chieftains. Murray-Bruce warns Buhari that he will soon wish he didn’t win the presidential elections if he does not take serious measures to improve Nigeria’s economy. Story highlights: – Politics is war, therefore, many of the rules of war and peace apply to politics. – Nigerians people voted for Muhammadu Buhari, not his party and he should serve the people the dish they are angling for. – Buhari’s period with Nigerians may not last very long. – Nigeria and other nations should look to China for oil markets. – Austerity measures must start from Aso Rock. (This day) – Now that Major General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) has been chosen by the Nigerian people, it is my duty as a patriotic Nigerian to help him succeed even though my candidate was President Goodluck Jonathan, a man to whom I will always be loyal and appreciative. General Buhari is about to mount the saddle and I for one am in a very good position to tell him some home truths because as a senator-elect, I have a very fulfilling job awaiting me and I do not need a job or favours from Buhari so I do not have to play nice. Looking at the personalities he has appointed to his transition council, I am wont to believe that General Buhari needs to expand his circle of friends and advisers. As a military strategist, the president-elect must be familiar with the principle that the people you use in subduing an opponent are not necessarily the same persons you will need in rebuilding the territories you took. I may be using military terms, but I am sure General Buhari is aware that politics is war by other means and therefore many of the rules of war and peace apply to politics. The General will be best served if he thinks of what is best for Nigeria rather than what is best for his party, the All Progressive Congress (APC), and its chieftains. He must remember that in Nigeria’s subjective politics, it was his person that the people voted for not his party and he should therefore serve the people the dish they are angling for. And what are the expectations of Nigerians from General Buhari? Definitely not business as usual. The president-elect ran on a promise of change and while that change was not really defined by its chanters, Nigerians defined it as a change in their situation. To borrow from the famously potent prayers of Mountain of Fire and Miracle members, the Nigerian masses defined change as a situation where wealth and power must change hands from the elite to the masses by fire by force and they see General Buhari as the enforcer angel that will bring about this change. With this type of expectation, Buhari’s honeymoon period with Nigerians will not last very long if he does not take drastic steps to adjust Nigeria’s economy to the realities of falling oil prices and a dearth of buyers for the Bonny Light Sweet Crude. To put things into perspective, when the United States started buying less and less of Nigeria’s oil, we looked to China as an alternative buyer of oil but it has since come to light that whereas America spent $101 billion on clean energy between 2012-13, China spent $125 billion within the same time frame. The above data should alert Nigeria and other nations that look to China for oil markets to the fact that China is even ahead of the West in the search for alternative to fossil fuels as a source of energy. Buhari may wish he did not win the 2015 elections when the reality of our economic situation sets in. In his December 2014 Channels Television interview, Buhari said he was going to “stabilise the oil market”. The General will learn soon enough that today’s oil market is a buyers’ market. And the General’s choices are limited because he cannot (unless he is extraordinarily brave and politically callous) do the obvious and sack civil servants. Yes, he will eventually have to reduce the over bloated federal civil service, but before he can do that, he has to build up political capital by reducing the overhead of the Executive and persuade the Legislature to follow suit. Austerity measures must start from Aso Rock. This means that luxurious multi car convoys must be reduced. The presidential air fleet has to go, by way of being auctioned off or sold to local airlines. Estacode allowances must be slashed and the president’s entourages should be lean while non-essential foreign travels should be banned. The president-elect should not underestimate the big difference these small changes can make and their capacity to buy him enough credibility with the labour unions, the kind of credibility that will see them accepting cuts in the federal workforce and reduction in pay and entitlements. A small change like flying commercial instead of by private jet saved Britain a whopping £200,000 when the thrifty British Prime Minister, David Cameron, flew to America to meet President Barack Obama on a regular BA flight. Nigeria is in for very desperate times if we do not tighten our belts while our major foreign exchange earner is facing global challenges. Russia, a nation that many will say is more prepared than Nigeria for the shocks occasioned by the drop in the price of oil devalued its currency by 11 per cent in just one day. While Russia is taking these steps, the world is watching to see if Nigeria will continue to spend hundreds of billions annually sponsoring its elite on pilgrimages to Mecca and Jerusalem. I mean, no economist will get why a nation with over 60 per cent of its people living in poverty at the best of times, will spend almost 1 per cent of its annual budget sponsoring pilgrimages for its elite who can afford to go to the Holy Land on their own dime. I for one do not get it. A pilgrimage is meant to be a sacrifice of a believer. How is a pilgrimage still a sacrifice when someone pays for you to go? The Nigerian government is sending people on holidays not pilgrimages! I daresay that the money being spent by the Nigerian government to airlift pilgrims to both Holy Lands is enough to educate all the almajiri in Northern Nigeria. Wouldn’t God and humanity be better served if we looked after the less privileged in our midst? General Buhari has his work cut out for him and he does not have time to be bitter about who said what, when and where. He must let go of any desire to pay any of his traducers back whether they be from the last 16 years or as far back as 1985. Four years is only enough time to fix Nigeria. Any time spent on other ventures is time taken from this most important of assignments. And let me say that General Buhari should not allow himself to be pigeon holed by people who dangle ideologies instead of realities. Yes, the APC may have styled itself as a progressive party, which in itself is a contradiction because Buhari is a conservative, but Buhari should not bother about that. Whether the philosophy is progressive or conservative or liberal or free market, he should go with what works because as Deng Xiaoping once noted: “It doesn’t matter whether a cat is black or white, if it catches mice it is a good cat.” And it is fitting for me to end with a mention of Xiaoping. No other contemporary world leader, in my opinion, closely mirrors Buhari as does Xiaoping. In 1966, Xiaoping was dethroned from his powerful party positions by loyalists of Chairman Mao as was Buhari in 1985 by loyalists of his Chief of Army staff. Xiaoping suffered house arrest, loss of earned privileges and was consigned to political limbo for almost a decade as was Buhari. But then Xiaoping bounced back into favour and became China’s leader in 1976 and thereafter jettisoned his life long belief in Mao’s Cultural Revolution and introduced the “one country, two systems” policy that allowed communism and capitalism to coexist in China. party administration’, PDP warns Pres. Jonathan’s aides, associates PDP is threatening sanction on president Jonathan's aides and associates who are putting their mouth in what does not concern them. Read below... The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a very strong warning to some ambitious aides and associates of President Goodluck Jonathan trying to use their closeness to him to cause crisis in the party and pave way for more defection to other parties. The PDP said it would expose such individuals and make them face the full weight of the party disciplinary measures if they fail to immediately retrace their steps. The NWC in a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh said it is “aware of the clandestine activities of such aides and associates of the President including their unholy alliance with some elements in other parties to undermine and weaken the PDP by attacking its leadership. “The NWC is aware that these same individuals who mismanaged the presidential campaigns are now desperately seeking to cause crisis in the PDP with a view not only to divert attention from their misdeeds but also to ensure that they remained politically relevant by hijacking the party structure for their selfish purposes. “We are aware that these individuals have been trying to arm-twist the President to summon a meeting of party leaders at the Presidential Villa in the coming days where the NWC members would be put under pressure to resign thereby triggering a crisis in the leadership at the national level. “The party is aware that the same group has been sponsoring series of amorphous bodies and negative publications in a section of the media to peddle false allegations against the NWC to back their heinous and unconstitutional demands that the President should sack the NWC before the handover date of May 29, 2015. “However, for the purposes of clarity, especially for those making uninformed demands on the President, the PDP National Working Committee is duly elected and its tenure ends in March 2016 in line with the provisions of the party’s constitution. The PDP is a party built on the rule of law and democratic ethos. Its NWC is elected and not appointed and as such cannot be sacked at will or by an executive fiat. Besides, no section of the party constitution prescribes that the NWC should quit if the party loses in a general election. “Furthermore, the PDP constitution is clear on the process of summoning a meeting of party leaders and the role of the NWC in that regard is well-defined. Anything outside the laid down rules and the provisions of the constitution in this respect is completely of no effect. “Moreover, President Goodluck Jonathan has amply demonstrated his strict adherence to the rule of law and the tenets of democracy even on issues of ..................... Presidential Election 2015: Jonathan Questions Buhari’s Victory President Goodluck Jonathan has, for the first time, questioned the results of the March 28 presidential election, maintaining that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is still the dominant party in Nigeria. Jonathan had congratulated Muhammadu Buhari, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), before the final result was announced but has now said he only did it for the unity of Nigeria. He said the PDP could not have recorded the low scores recorded for him in some areas, and attributed the loss in Benue and Kogi to infighting. The president was speaking on Thursday at the submission of the report of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation (PPCO) at the new banquet hall of the presidential villa. Jonathan said: “PDP is still the dominant party. If you look at the result, the difference is just over two million votes. And if you look at the areas where it is perceived that PDP scored so low, PDP couldn’t have gotten those kinds of scores.” He said now that the elections are over, “I put the country first”. That Nigeria is at peace is worth celebrating, Jonathan said, appearing to confirm reports that some western countries had put ships on standby to evacuate their citizens in preparation for a post-election crisis in Nigeria. He said: “The countries that brought ships, everything around us, waiting to evacuate their citizens are happy because there was nobody to evacuate. The country was so tensed but everything has gone down now and I think that is the most important thing because the conviction is that you must have a country before you can run for an office. “Nigeria is a very complex country and you must manage it with care. Yes, I did not consult anybody before I made that phone call but I made that phone call on behalf of all you and on behalf of the PDP.” Jonathan said the PDP remains “the most organized party” and one that is not owned by “anybody”, urging them to put the loss in the 2015 elections behind and bounce back in 2019. “The key thing isn’t whether we lost or won but that Nigeria as a nation must move forward. Political parties can only thrive when there is peace and stability in the country. If there is military intervention, all the parties will disappear,” he said. ”And for PDP whatever happened now is like a slip, you don’t need to go to America to know how power goes from the Democrats to the Republicans… it has almost stabilised. It is like once you serve eight years you are ready to hand over to either the Republicans or the Democrats. So theirs is almost an established setting. But our neighbour Ghana, the present ruling party lost some eight years back and, of course, they came back and won the elections. “So the problem is not whether we lost the elections. That is history now but how do we consolidate our party and move forward? If we are committed and if we work very hard, definitely PDP will bounce back. “PDP is still the dominant party. If you look at the result, the difference is just over two million votes and if you look at the areas where it is perceived that PDP scored so low, PDP couldn’t have gotten those kinds of scores but the elections are over, we put the country first. ”It is not as if Jonathan alone made the sacrifice. It’s all of us. I made the pronouncement but some of us are paying the price. Some people pay more price than I do. I know how some of you are already being persecuted and the kind of situation facing you. The key thing is that we must continue to unite. As a party, we must continue to work hard so that as we go into subsequent elections in 2019, 2023 and so on and so forth, PDP will continue to come up strong. “Even in the interest of the nation, we need PDP. I still believe though we have lost presidential election, some national assembly elections, governorship elections especially in the north, PDP is still the dominant party. Let us not judge PDP by the results of the presidential election. “Our duty is to go back and identify areas of challenges so that the party will come up strong and play the role as a very strong party. PDP is still the most organised party, it is still the party that is not owned by anybody, it is still the party that whatever you are you can get to any level with your competences and so on. “I encourage members of our party to remain loyal to the party, not to be so disillusioned because we lost presidential election and decide to go where they think they will fill their stomachs or something. It is not easy. I have been here for five years plus, you hardly satisfy even 50 per cent of those who work for you. “So those people running and those already cross-carpeting, they will come back on an empty stomach because they (APC) will first touch the primary members of their party, before they get to you, they know you are coming because you are hungry. The call was received by Nasir Al-Rufai at 3pm in Nigeria, and occured before INEC offically called the gubernatorial contest. That Governor Mukhtar Yero called now Governor-Elect Nasir Al-Rufai ahead of the INEC announcement stands in contrast to President Jonathan's consession to Buhari, which dragged on for several days before INEC declared Buhari the victor. read more @ http://naijatroller.com/ramalan-yero-accept-lost-to-nasir-al-rufai-in-kaduna-race/

Buhari stated that ruling Nigeria would be a challenge due to the “colossal rape of its economy and leadership deficit by the outgoing ruling party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).” President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari had promised to run a transparent government when elected into office. Buhari also stated that ruling Nigeria would be a challenge due to the “colossal rape of its economy and leadership deficit by the outgoing ruling party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).” The President-elect made the statement on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, while speaking at a town hall meeting in Yola, Adamawa State. “For Nigeria to get out of the woods, there should be commitment and perseverance on the part of the leadership of the country, but, the new government will do its best to put things in the right perspective,’’ Buhari said. “But, unfortunately, the resources were mismanaged and squandered, leading to the present situation being experienced in the land. Although, many expect that things will change in a day, it’s not so, because it will take us some years to make changes,” he added. "Nigerians are in a haste, people should not see the change, that we are championing, in a twinkle of an eye, we need patience and prayers for us to succeed," the President-elect said. Buhari also said that his government wouldn’t favour anyone, not even his family members. “We need to fight corruption squarely, for Nigeria to move forward. We will run a transparent government, in doing so, I will not favour my family”, he said. Read More @ http://naijatroller.com/pdp-has-raped-our-economy-says-buhari/

The president-elect, Rtd. General Muhammadu Buhari has urged the Ndigbos and other non-indigenes residing in Lagos state to overlook the anti-tribal comments of Oba of Lagos, Akiolu Rilwan. Punch reports that the former Head of State pleaded with all Igbos in Lagos state to move on and forgive all that has been said against them for the sake of peace. Buhari made the call during a rally held on Tuesday in Lagos to address the comments made by the Oba. Recall that Akiolu has been under fire since Monday when he reportedly threatened the Ndigbo in Lagos to either vote for the APC governorship candidate, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, or perish in the lagoon. The Peoples Democratic Party on Tuesday asked Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola to suspend Akiolu forthwith. However, the President-elect described Lagos as home for all, adding that the time had come for Nigerians to look past ethnicity in the general interest of peace and unity. He said, “I admire what your governor has done in terms of mobilizing revenue to sustain Lagos development. I have a lot of respect for Governor Fashola for his hard work, commitment to the state and the country. There is no doubt that Lagos is a mini-Nigeria. We are all here and it has been mentioned by previous speakers that everybody (tribe) is adequately represented in Lagos. So, I assure you. If you vote for the continuity of APC in Lagos, you stand to gain more. It is in your interest that you vote for the APC. “Please when you go home tell your neighbors, relatives and even the opposition to please bury the hatchet. Let them fall in line and vote the APC. When we were coming in our bus, Fashola told me how Lagos State had been spending to maintain the federal infrastructure here such as buildings, roads and other institutions. I had promised before that if I won the election and became the President, I would make Lagos my priority. Governor Fashola is already holding to me to that promise so I would like the incoming governor to listen carefully and make sure he makes me honor my undertaking.” On his part, the National chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, said Lagos was responsible for building the opposition and ensuring that it finally took control of the centre. He said it would be a great injustice for Lagos to become an opposition state after working so hard to build a bright future. Also speaking, a former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, said Akiolu was not a member of the APC and could not speak on behalf of the party. Tinubu, who noted that he was the first Yoruba governor to ever appoint an Igbo commissioner, said the Peoples Democratic Party, having failed to win last week’s presidential elections, had been desperately trying to pull the APC into the Akiolu controversy. He said the coordinator of the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria, Ifeanyi Ubah, and the PDP leader, Bode George, were only making baseless accusations against the APC. Tinubu said, “The Oba is not a politician. His job is to accommodate all political parties whether PDP, APC or SDP. So, what did he (Ubah) go and do at the palace? Is the Oba a politician? “To you Igbo, don’t we pay your children’s school fees like others? Or is it the palace that pays for it? When we conducted an exam and a spelling competition, an Igbo boy, Ebuka, from Anambra, came first and he became the governor for one day. “Those that won the competition three times in a row were Igbo. Ebuka was sent to Switzerland computer school and then Obafemi Awolowo University. We did not say he was an Igbo boy and he would not enjoy. He became an executive in Oando and he is now in Canada. Another boy, Felix, won and went to Switzerland and OAU. We paid his scholarship; we did not deny him because he is Igbo.” However, in a statement issued yesterday by the Lagos state PDP Publicity Secretary, Mr Taofik Gani, the party said it had also alerted the security agencies to hold the monarch responsible for any attack on non-indigenes or PDP members in Lagos. The PDP also reiterated the need for the Lagos monarch to be suspended till after Saturday’s governorship and state House of Assembly elections in order to guarantee free, fair and credible elections in the state. The statement read in part, “The governor is thus a conspirator in this threat to life and must also be held accountable for any violence in these elections. We have at this point been vindicated about the desperation of the APC to retain Lagos State at all cost, including the All Progressives Congress’ plan not to concede the imminent defeat on April 11. The positions of the PDP are coming on the heels of the now viral threat issued by the Oba of Lagos to Ndigbo that they must vote for the APC governorship candidate, Akinwunmi Ambode, or be drowned in Lagos water.” READ MORE @ http://naijatroller.com/buhari-reacts-to-ndigbo-and-oba-akiolu-of-lagos-matter/

As it is Jimi Agbaje, fondly called JK is a far more popular candidate than Ambode, Loved by Lagosians and myself particularly. Recently helped by the Oba’s shocking comment meant to favour Ambode, it is apparent now that come May 29th Alausa shall be the abode of Mr. Jimi Agbaje. Not asking too much, these are 5 things I and many other lagosians demand of him; i. Health Care The deplorable state of healthcare service and quality needs to be reversed… and fast too. The good news is JK, the moniker that has become so synonymous with Jimi Agbaje is also the name of a pharmaceutical company. Both pharmacy and its proprietor boast an illustrious track record in the pharmaceutical field which has seen him head a number of renowned pharmaceutical companies. ii. Land Costs Lagos as a mega city needs continuous real estate development and thankfully, there are pockets of such developments across the state. Mr. Agbaje needs to continue this as soon as he assumes the office of governor and to do this, he must tackle the issue of rising land costs as well as run the “omo nile” or land touts out of business. This will encourage realtors, developers and other investors to bring more business to Lagos. iii. Football We need at least 2 teams in the Nigerian Premier League seeing as there’s many standard football pitches in Lagos. There’s the National Stadium, Surulere opposite the Teslim Balogun Stadium and there’s Onikan Stadium too. Why aren’t the millions of soccer loving Lagosians being entertained by a “Lagos football derby”? READ MORE : http://naijatroller.com/things-jimi-agbaje-should-do-to-do-adeola-phillips/
