Whenever I asked an adult a question back then, I expected an informed answer - or failing that, then a truthful one at least. Take for instance, if it was me asked you if sugar will be sweet in food and you replied "of course dear", I'll be very likely to sneak out a few cubes and put em in my soup that night.
