This is very shameful coming from a woman. If the deceased thought it wise to stay with the man for 15 years and had 3 kids with him, who are you to invalidate that because some oil and yams didnt exchange hands?

Imagine if the man after 15 years was telling everybody that she is not his wife? Imagine if the man became and governor and refused her to be first lady saying she's not his wife? You would be the first to come and cry and complain. See you claiming dead body? Like this person is dead...which yeye claiming are you claiming? Even if its the culture, the culture was made by human beings like you, from time to time human beings should be able to review these culture and tradition for their best interest.

Of course I'm not against a proper marriage in any way, but in cases as these, let commonsense prevail. Insisting that a woman who has given her best years to a man after 15years is just a live in lover shortchanges women and empowers the men to treat such women less.

In the US, if an unmarried man, in the absence of any kids, his "live in lover" (provided they've been together for sometime) gets his estate. Live in lovers are not worthless and married woman are not only worthy because yam and oil exchanged hands.

When you finish barking go and collect her body and give to the man for burial.Maybe you did not see the part of the story that says she died in Africa

That aside I have experienced two strong cases similar to the man's situation in real life .I wasn't writing because I want to write .I wrote from a place of knowledge.If she is from my state they will take those children she had for him.
