Following the sudden death of its former president, Professor Festus Iyayi, who died yesterday afternoon in a fatal auto crash that occurred in Lokoja while travelling to Kano for the Union's Executive meeting slated for today Wednesday 13th of November 2013 in which the decision to call off or continue the four months old strike embarked upon by the University lecturers is expected to be made, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has hereby postponed its today's decider meeting to a later date.

May his soul rest in peace.

As part of reactions that trail the Nigerian music producer Don Jazzy taking to twitter the disagreement between himself and singer Wande Ojosipe popularly known as Wande Cole, I found this write up on line, written by Udak Oduak in which she described Don Jazzy's decision as nothing but absolute foolishness, and I've brought it to you readers of TLB to share your opinions if you really agree with Oduak.

So, I decided to dedicate a post to discuss the industry foolishness. This is about getting our house in order or else we really will have no industry to talk about; or one anybody can respect both within and outside the industry within the next 2-3years, if we can make it that far.

Eyin Nigerian artists eti su mi, really (you Nigerian artists make me weary, really). Sheesh. Y’all can be off the hook, many times. You’ve got a grown man and so called boss for that matter such as Don Jazzy displaying foolish behavior of the highest order on twitter; and crying about a problem he created in the first place.

What are we supposed to do Don Jazzy? You are the business man, you also should have some scars to show from the epic Mo’Hits fallout/ dissolution that you “get it.” Didn’t you at least learn something from that? What’s good? I really tiyah, for real.

ON A DAY THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ALL ABOUT TIWA SAVAGE’S RELEASE OF HER SONG ‘EMINADO’(Goodluck charm) featuring Don Jazzy, Don Jazzy totally pooped on that parade and brought the bad luck charm by undermining Tiwa Savage’s shine with his silly cries on twitter about an alleged theft by his former artist.

Are Wande Coal and Don Jazzy mates? What rubbish?! Why is Don Jazzy, the egbon (older one and adult) and most importantly the boss getting on twitter and stooping down to this kind of level as a business owner and leader in the industry? According to 8 News, the King of R&B, R. Kelly was nowhere to be found at the R.Kelly Live In Concert in Louisiana last weekend as fans waited for three hours after buying tickets to the show. Instead, a fake R. Kelly showed up late and lip sung throughout the concert.


Reports say fans haven’t stopped complaining bitterly after paying good money [$150] only to get a lip-synching impostor perform in the same concert at the Monroe Civic Center,La. Organizers apparently advertised the singer Saturday night [Oct.26] but once a performer finally took the stage, it wasn’t the real R.Kelly. Continue........
According to an eye witness, the same guy was spotted in a local restaurant earlier that day and when fans ran to him for pictures and autograph, he shunned them and took off almost immediately. It was the same guy who rocked the stage R. Kelly was suppose to perform, hours later.
Now, those in attendance want their $150 back!
The promoter of the show, Cedric Johnson [for Ced’s Black Tie Affair] had earlier said [through a text message to KNOE media] he would honor refunds but later, he claims he didn’t send any text message and wouldn’t refund a dime to anyone.

Nollywood super star actress and screen goddess, Mercy Johnson Okojie in a recent interview, talked about her life as a child, an actress, a wife, a mother, challenges, scandals among other issues discussed. Read the full interview below:

I am Mercy Johnson, an actress. I was born 29 years ago and I am the fourth child in a family of seven. My father is an ex-military officer and I left my mother at the age of two to live with him. Due to the nature of his job, he was constantly transferred from one station to another. I am proud of him because he taught me all I needed to know from childhood to adulthood.

Movie industry
I have grown with time and there have been good and bad times. There have been rumours and scandals. Sometimes, when I cry in movies, it wasn’t the script that made me cry. Rather, I reflect on my humble beginning and the height I’ve attained now. This makes me cry.
Journey into acting

After my secondary school education, I approached a friend for assistance to feature in a movie. He took me to the National Theatre, Lagos, but a role did not come until a year later. My first lead role was in a film titled, ‘The Maid.’ It was quite challenging to interprete because it was my first movie. When I saw the veterans on set, I fidgeted.

A star actress
Life is in phases and I cannot say I have reached the peak of my profession. I have not even won an Oscar yet! There is always a higher mountain to climb, a new vision to fulfill and I am at that point. I want to achieve new and greater dreams.

Fulfillment
The greatest fulfillment is the ability to influence people positively through my acting.

Challenges
Life is not a bed of roses; it comes with challenges which make me stronger and who I am.

Nollywood: Then and now
We have achieved feats which the old Nollywood did not achieve. It is all about progression and I am sure that in the future, Nollywood will achieve a greater feat than it is doing currently.

Relationship
My husband is loving and he is an understanding man. I am so happy to be married to him. I acted a movie, ‘Baby Oku in America’ when I was heavily pregnant and he didn’t feel bad about it. He understands that I am an actor and sometimes, we need real life situations, like the pregnancy, to interpret a role. Not many men would allow their wife do that.

Scandals
They are all lies. I just think the media needs to do their verification well before they put any story out. Whenever I read all manner of lies about me in the media, I wonder where all of these came from and regret being an actress. But in all, I move on and take it as one of the hazards of the job. I am fulfilled as an actor.

Mercy Johnson Foundation
I floated the foundation because of my love for the less privileged. One of my greatest joys is to see other people happy. I want to make lasting impact in my society. The objective is to identify the needs of the less privilege, evaluate them and help in our own little way. I strongly believe that as movie stars, we should live beyond the euphoria of stardom.

A sexy woman
It is inbuilt. It’s just how you feel about yourself. For me, being sexy is confidence. It mustn’t be about the hairstyle or the accessories or the big buttocks. It’s about you, liking yourself just the way you are.

Motherhood
My husband is a wonderful man. He makes my job easier and helps carry our daughter, Purity. He feeds her and she misses him whenever he is not around. As a family, we understand one another and we make whatever adjustments we have to make in order to have a good home.

Success
The challenges I faced have yielded results and I am reaping the fruits of all my efforts. I have grown from nobody in the industry to becoming a top actress from Africa. To God be all the glory.

To be an actress
Talent is never enough you must constantly brush up your talent but training can come in different form. You only need to ensure that in whatever form, you are not just relying on your inborn talent.

Projects
There are many but I’m not permitted to disclose them yet. They will start unfolding soon.

Fear
My worst fear will be to leave this earth without making a huge impact.

Fashion
I don’t wear what is in vogue or what everybody is wearing, I just wear what suits me and I’m lucky to have a physique that encourages everything I wear. My husband is a huge critic, so when he pays compliments to my dressing, I feel so good. He doesn’t believe that exposing anything makes you look better. He feels when you cover up, you look real nice.

To upcoming actors
Be yourself and let your talent speak for you. Don’t come into the industry because you want to be famous, but because you love the art of acting. Then try to appreciate those who were there before you.

“Having a kid has a lot to do with my change of character. Sometimes you see life in a different way. You perceive it in another way another time. When I had a kid, I saw so much value in my life and the future. I became humbled and developed the mindset that anything that has to do with my future must automatically involve my son as well. I started changing a lot of things and it actually scared a lot of negative friends from me. It helped me resolve and re-organise myself again. In the past, some children appeared scared to come close to me, but all that has changed. Fatherhood has been awesome, amazing and a miracle to me. My son is my replica.”

Two suspected gay pastors, Prince Ejimole, 26, and Lawrence Udo, 25, have been arrested and charged to court after they were allegedly caught having sex in a hotel room at Ijeshatedo, Lagos.


They are facing charges of having carnal knowledge of each other against the order of nature before the presiding Magistrate, Mrs A. O. Awogboro. The pastors were arrested at a popular hotel at Ijeshatedo where was alleged to be their usual lodge to have sex with each other.

Sources at the hotel said the duo usually lodged in the hotel under the guise of praying.
They were arrested after Pastor Ejimole and Udo allegedly lured another member of the congregation, Chidiebere Mozie, who needed prayers to the hotel. But they allegedly forced him to have sex with them.
Mozie alleged that when they got into the hotel room, Pastor Ejimole started sucking his breast and was pulling out his penis as well to penetrate into his anus.

He raised the alarm that attracted the hotel management who had allegedly been suspicious of their activities.
The management contacted the police at Ijeshatedo division who arrested them and took them to the station.
A four-count charge of conspiracy, unlawful carnal knowledge, etc. was slammed on them.

The first count reads: “That you, Prince Ejimole and Lawrence Udo on the same date, time and place did have carnal knowledge of each other against the order of nature.”
The second count reads: “That you, Pastor Prince Ejimole on the same date, place and time did gross indecency by sucking Chidiebere Mozie’s breast, attempting to suck his penis and having carnal knowledge of him.”

The police said the offence the defendants committed was contrary to sections 516, 214 and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2004.
They pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs Awogboro, granted Ejimole bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties, while Udo was granted bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety.

Nigerian gospel "Tungba" musician, Yinka Ayefele is one of the most sought after gospel highlife act. In a recent interview, Yinka bares it all. He talks about his marriage, his education and the accident that landed him on a wheel chair as a result of spinal cord injury.
Yinka was one of the major entertainers at the elaborate dinner party held by Patience Jonathan sometime in August. He therefore, cleared the air on why he sang at the first lady’s rally in Abuja and his relationship with her.

According to him, it's his profession, so he can't reject an invitation to perform and entertain.

Towards ending the ongoing ASUU strike, the Federal Government has committed to spending N200 billion in the 2014 budget on the universities as well as on each of the next three-four years until the universities are brought to world-class standard. This is in addition to the N100 billion dedicated and already made available for 2013. The government has also increased to N40 billion as a first installment, funds for the payment of earned allowances to the striking lecturers, an improvement from the N30 billion previously released.

This information is contained in an internal Federal University of Otuoke statement by Professor Bolaji Aluko, its Vice-Chancellor, seen on Wednesday night by SaharaReporters. On the earned allowances, he explained, “Government will top it up with further releases once universities are through with the disbursement of this new figure of N40 million, so Vice-Chancellors are urged to expedite this disbursement within the shortest possible time using guiding templates that have been sent by the CVC,” the circular said.

Professor Aluko said the development followed meetings on September 19 and Oct 11 of representatives of the Association of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities, led by CVC Chairman, Prof. Hamisu of ATBU and ASUU Representatives led by its President, Dr. N. Fagge with the Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Arc. Namadi. Sambo, Minister of Education Barr. N. Wike and others.

Of great interest to stakeholders, Vice-President Sambo, appealing to ASUU to call off the strike, apologized for the "take-it-or-leave-it" comments credited to the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala at the onset of the strike. The Minister did not seem to have been involved in either meeting, perhaps as the government’s way of soothing the feelings of the university teachers.

Other points of agreement at the meetings include the following:
Project Prioritization: Universities will now be allowed to determine their priorities and not be “rail-roaded” into implementing a pre-determined set of projects with respect to the NEEDS assessment. Decisions are not to be centralized.
TETFund Intervention: Government assured that the operations of the TETFund will not be impaired, and that the regular TETFund intervention disbursement to Universities will continue, unaffected. So the NEEDS assessment capital outlays are in addition to regular TETFund intervention.
Project Monitoring: A new Implementation Monitoring Committee (IMC) for the NEEDS Assessment intervention for universities has been set up to take over from the Suswan Committee. The new one is under the Federal Ministry of Education and chaired by the Honorable Minister of Education. In addition, to build confidence and ensure faithful implementation and prevent any relapse as before, the Vice President will meet quarterly with the IMC to monitor progress.
Blueprint: ASUU was mandated to submit a blue print for revitalizing the Universities to the Vice President.
Prof. Aluko further stated that a signed document will soon be issued to itemize the full issues on which the consensus he had outlined here, as brokered by AVCNU, was reached.

The teenage daughter of Czech president, Milos Zeman is currently involved in a sex scandal as footage of her being at a 'porn party' cheering on gyrating naked men emerged in a local newspaper.
Zeaman was allegedly pictured (dressed in a white blouse and short black skirt) with friends at the event on Prague.

The 19-year-old girl has denied the allegation that she was a part of the sex party. She insisted that the pictures of her are fake. Speaking through a spokesman the president's daughter said: 'This was not me. The photos are a hoax or some sort of fake.'

But the editor of Extra.cz which initially published the photos, Pawel Nowotny, has now released the footage saying: 'This is viral on the Czech internet.
'And it is clearly her and not some look-a-like. She even has the same freckles. It is believed the party took place last October, just before the presidential campaign.

A 47-year-old man hacked off his own leg using only a metal saw, a small fruit knife and a back scratcher wrapped with a towel because he couldn't afford hospital bills.

Zheng Yanliang, from Boading city, China, began to experience bouts of pain in his abdomen that traveled to both of his legs. He was diagnosed with massive arterial thrombosis in both legs. As the pain worsened, he decided to remove the infected limb himself using a metal saw, a small fruit knife and a back scratcher wrapped with a towel because he couldn't afford hospital bills.

According to Shanghaiist.com, doctors told Mr Yanliang the disease was very rarely seen, and he wasn't likely to live more than a month. For three months, Mr Yanliang was tormented by pain to the point of fuzzy consciousness, screaming so loud that his neighbors could not sleep.

'It was very painful and they gave me medication but it didn't help. Sometimes the pain was so intense I would pass out, then after three months when it was really bad, they told me that an infection had set in, that I had gangrene, and that I might lose the limb. Ideally I needed it to be operated on, but I could not afford it. They just gave me medication. They sent me home to die.

One night, after his wife had gone to bed, Mr Yanliang found a fruit knife, a metal saw and a towel-wrapped back scratcher and began amputating his own leg. Fortunately, because of the thrombosis, there wasn’t much blood during the amputation.

The operation saved his life, but now the open wound that still shows a stump of bone has led to a fresh infection, this time in his left leg.

His wife suffers diabetes and heart disease. The family's only financial support comes from their 17-year-old daughter, who dropped out of school to take a job.

*So pathetic, I used to think poverty of this kind only exist in this our own part of the world.. God have mercy.

According to the latest info I received, it is most likely that Nollywood star actor Jim Iyke, will be getting married in the month of December this year. Jim who a few days ago was delivered from demons preventing him from getting married at Pastor T.B Joshua's Synagogue Church of All Nations. The wedding rumour is linked to no other but his Ghanaian actress girlfriend, Nadia Buari. However, the wedding date has not been officially announced by either Jim or Nadia.

It appears the actor has made a perfect U-turn from his old odd ways as report claims he was recently seen in Accra, leaving a church after a night vigil with his girlfriend, Nadia. *Hehe.. this is getting interesting, lets wait and see.

It is surely a sad moment for Nollywood star actor, Tony Umez, as he has joined the league of motherless children, with the demise of his beloved mother on Tuesday.
Tony was full of grief as he took to his Facebook page yesterday morning to announced to his friends and fans that he has lost his mother.
In his words, Tony said:
“I lost my dearest mum at 5 minutes to midnight on the 1st of October, 2013. Adieu Mum. Rest in perfect peace in d bosom of d Lord. U were d greatest. We miss u dearly. God will keep u safe & warm in His bosom. With a heavy heart, I say, ADIEU, to d best mum ever.”

The suspects identified as Fatai Balogun, Wale Akinjobi and Gbenga Kolawole during interrogation, confessed to have come all the way from Ogun state to operate.

A source, who craved anonymity told Crime Alert that the police launched a manhunt for the gang after Pasuma’s encounter, during which they were intercepted.

The gang, as gathered, also attacked a wealthy man in Iju Ishaga area of Lagos, where they robbed him of N500,000, his mobile phones and other valuables. After the operation, one of them, Wale who resides around the area reportedly dug a hole at the back of his compound where he buried his weapon.

But unknown to him, a resident said to have sighted him, alerted the police who quickly arrested him and transferred him to the SARS.During interrogation, Wale reportedly confessed that his gang robbed Pasuma of his Range Rover Sport Utility Vehicle, SUV, and an unspecified amount of money, four months ago in Lagos. His confessional statement, as gathered, led to the arrest of other suspected members.

Fatai Balogun, told Crime Alert that leader of the gang, Ade, got the highest share from Pasuma’s loot.

“He was the one who searched Pasuma and collected money from him. But nobody knew the amount he got. Few days later, he bought a Toyota Camry car with the loot but gave us peanuts. I have gone on several operations with Ade. One of them was at Ajah area where we snatched a car at gun point along Epe road.

We did that operation with Ade’s car but we had a little problem on the road after Ade ran into a ditch. We had to abandon the car when policemen came looking for us but Ade later sent a towing vehicle to retrieve the car.

Wale brought the job that landed me in trouble. He told me there was a rich man who lives in his area, that he would want me to follow him execute the job because he does not have the expertise to do it. I accepted because the job was an easy one, as there won’t be much huddles getting inside. We were three in number that went for the operation.

I took N120,000 and gave Wale and Gbenga their share. I sold the laptops we took from the man for N40,000 each and at the end, I relocated to my base in Abeokuta, Ogun State. I don’t know how Wale mishandled the gun he used for the operation, which led to his being sighted by one of his neighbors,”he stated.

The picture of the iPhone on the left above went viral on social media yesterday and early hours of today with a few blogs claiming that the Federal Government has taken delivery of the 53 gold plated iPhones to celebrate Nigeria's 53rd anniversary tomorrow.

However, the federal government has denied ordering these phones and the UK company, Gold and Co of London, also denied and denounced the story. Look at the original photo on the right above and the Photoshopped which circulated online on the left.

It is a disservice to all of us if we sit back while these disgruntled elements get away with lies without exposing them and their cohorts.

Nigeria’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Friday discovered a 600-acre hemp farm at Ode-Ekiti in the Gbonyin Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ado-Ekiti, Commandant of the NDLEA in Ekiti, Mr Dele Akingbade said the hemp farm was the largest individually-owned hemp farm in Ekiti.

According to him, the cost of the hemp farm was too huge to be determined immediately. He described the discovery of the farm as one of the `biggest feats’ of the agency in the state.


Akingbade said the agency made the discovery on a vast expanse of land on July 24, following a tip-off by concerned members of the public.

The NDLEA chief said that four suspects in the matter, all men, were arrested while working on the farm. He said that the suspects, who confessed to being labourers, disclosed that the owner of the farm paid them N1,000 per day as wage.

Akingbade said that the agency had been making efforts to arrest the owner of the farm through a 24-hour surveillance mounted by men of the agency. He said that the suspects, who were still in the agency’s custody, would be prosecuted soon.

The commandant said that the size of the farm has drawn international attention, as officials of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime from Vienna had visited the farm.

"Back To School " is a project of BEYOND THE CLASSROOM FOUNDATION, with the aim of changing lives and building the minds of the needy, even without boarders. They have embarked upon this project to address some negative effects of poverty on the education and lives of innocent and helpless young children in the country, by providing for their basic needs and thereby set their feet on the path towards achieving their various dreams and goals in life.

In Lagos for example, where school is year round, a law was passed a few years ago making primary education free. But even “free” doesn't allow all children to attend school because they aren't able to afford uniforms, books, and school supplies. Many families whose children are living in the slums of Lagos consider “free” primary education impossible.

Most of the poor children never attend school because they do not have the basic supplies that they need. The majority of children cannot afford to buy their own notebooks and as a result, classrooms often have fewer kids. Unlike some good school children, children in slums are enthusiastic about learning, even though they don’t eat everyday and some are malnourished.

Some children even have to stay at home to work and take care of their younger siblings rather than attend school. Despite hunger, disease and the likes, the children long for an education and remain enthusiastic about achieving one. Support the Back to School Project as we provide free school supplies to 500 children this term.

A ‘back to school’ pack for a child will cost us N500. This includes;
A pair of sandal, 2pairs of white socks, 5 exercise books and a pencil or pen with ruler or eraser and N1,500 which includes a school bag.

There are different ways to support this project;
1. Sponsor a child with at least N500 (Please do more if you can)
2. Volunteer and join the distribution team on the day of the event.
3. Share this message
4. Donate old or new story books, textbooks, school bags, socks, notebooks, etc

Please, support these poor children with the little you have and together let's make their dreams a reality and safe our society from resulting Social-vices, Thanks.
