I hope that what you are telling me is the case. Since the dealer said he has an agent to do the clearing and that he has sent the BOL to the agent, I was just inquiring to get a clear picture of the possible date of arrival in Lagos as am not in a position to call the dealer right now. A few days later I took some friends out for a jolly good time and that was it. Now here is the twist, subsequent cars I bought (I'm now driving my 7th) over the years has got me more excited than the first because I now know what I want in a car before buying it. The excitement keeps increasing with every car I buy.

Ok and thanks for the info. I asked because a dealer told me that he got a mail from the shipping line that my car has sailed. The mail he did to me was on the 1st of July and so I guess the ship might have sailed within the time frame I quoted. It could be the ship sailed earlier. It has been four months now and I keep on expecting my car from this guy

I've gone thru all your comments on this issue and am tempted to ask some few questions. First, on the average, how long does it really take for a car shipped from NY to come into Lagos on Grimaldi. Secondly does any one have an idea of which of their vessels ( I mean Grimaldi) that left NY between 28th June and 1st July.

I took it to the car wash, told the attendant to wash everything and everything, including the ENGINE.
Then I called a few friends and we shacked up properly while at the same time blasting music from the car. The music only died down when the washman decided to give the car a befitting ENGINE wash.
Jet propelled flush of water straight to the engine meant i got a good car wash and a thoroughly useless car that refused to start when it mattered most. Brain box and battery damage on the first day. Well, lesson learnt. But,
I was thoroughly shamed.

This is a true and pathetic story. I am working offshore and we saw the bodies. Its misleading to say that the two people who survived were rescued by fishermen. It was the coy patrol boats that picked up the survivors as well as the dead and got them transferred to Calabar. The people boarded the boat without any safety gears and unfortunately for them the incidence happened. What always baffles me is that tomorrow the next set of people will make the same mistake and found themselves in this same situation. Dead bodies on the high sea has been a quarterly sight for us here. God save us.
