You have to understand the reading and learning method that best work for you. Stop following others. For me I am not a marathon reader, but my friends will read for hours to understand. At a time I felt I wasn't doing enough, I joined them to go to night classes but it didn't pay at all. After reading for about an hour, I will get tired. So I have to stop and assess my performance, I always do better than them in discussion classes, quizzes, and even in exams.
So the high point is understanding hour you are wired.
