I read the book about 3 months ago.It is excellent.Eventually each generation finds their literary voice in my opinion the leading literary lights of Nigerians born post independence are Adichie, Ike Oguine and Helon Habila. The sad thing is that they in most cases have to leave Nigeria for better success in their craft. I am however not aware of any upcoming poet who is as good as Osundare or Odia Ofeimun in this generation. Nice book she got there is really good for our generation. I am proud to be a Nigerian |
waaoo this really cool and good idea |
Plz Lets Stop Eliminating Children Who Are Suff From Aids Or Whose Parents Had Died Of The Disease They Need Your Love And Care.kenyans Be Warn On This Issue. Should the children be included in the fight, I believe they will be given a sense of responsibility and come to contact with the nature of what has been and the devasting effects of AIDS. The world body make the talkings and come to the children for help. Can a man represent the man better than the man? Children should be the center of the planning of the fight against AIDS. Let us all unite for Children, Uniting against AIDS! I hope to see a world free of AIDS soon. That is hope. Thanks for reading. Reply Reply With Quote |

I think celebrities can adobt children out of their good will but that happens less often. You can tell when its more for publicity, because the children are all over the media, and outspokenly lavished with expensive clothes etc. If a celebrity is adobting to help a cause, typically the child will be raised as normal as possible and probably will be kept out of the spot light so they can have a normal stable childhood. |
i think it really depends on who adopt them. Take the example of Angelina Jolie, she's an Ambassador at the UNHCR and is really invovlved in human rights and so on, so i don't think that she adopted her kids for publicity but simply because she is someone involved in that kinda things, I don't think someone who just want publicity with his kids would go all over the world to speak up and help poor people, someone who want just publicity isnt that much courageous !! Then there are some people who adopt just because "it's cool to save a kid from his harsh life" , but i don't think it fair, some people are really ready to adopt kids, they would love them and bring them up very well but unfortunatly they dnt have enough money, and those mega rich people can adopt kids whenever they want and don't have to wait years jst ebcause they are famous and have money. Plus i don't think that bringing up a kid under all the fame of his parent is something really good, not all do that though !! We cant generalize |
Arranged marriages are very tough to deal with and you have to stand up to you, your parents and give out your rights. You DON'T have to get an arranged marriage but the only reason why you are getting an arranged marriage is because you want to respect your family. Don't just respect your family, respect you instincts and yourself. Don't let anyone take over you. You have a brain. Lots of children that are only about 12-16 years old have to go through an arranged marriage. It is ver tough and hard to go through. You have rights and you only marry for love. Remember, love is only the true thing in life. It keeps you living. Marry someone YOU love. Don't let anyone else get in the way. That is just my opinion. What do you think about an arranged marriage?? How would you feel if this happened to you and you had to make the decision to stand up to your rights our just bare with it?? What would your deicision be to you and your family? |

Celebrities Adopting Children: Is It For Publicity Or From The Purest Heart? Celebrities are flocked by the medias about the adoption of unfortunate chidren. Was it for the publicity or neccesity? Do they adopt them to ease their pain or the children adopted were merely tools of greater publicity? I see many more are following their predecessor's foot steps, it looks beautiful on the surface, but are the children being provided with the required care for a child? Should they be evaluated first before being allowed to adopt a child? Financial privilege does not ensure a child's proper upbringing. Please, post your views. |

The Hotel New Hampshire, The Cider House Rules and A Prayer for Owen Meany. In these novels his originality and striking vision came brilliantly to the fore, along with his trademark subjects – as wide-ranging as feminism, religion, wrestling, sex and New England life. More recent novels include the complex bestseller A Son of the Circus, the dark and funny novel A Widow for One Year and The Fourth Hand, a black comedy that was another popular success. I have been looking for them but i can,t really get them here in Lagos. The one i like most is Until I Find You A melancholy tale of deception, Until I Find You is also a swaggering comic novel, a giant tapestry of life’s hopes. It is a masterpiece to compare with John Irving’s great novels, and restates the author’s claim to be considered the most glorious, comic, moving novelist at work today. |
