Dear student, I would like to welcome you to Royal Roads University. This email contains important information that will make your transition and move as smooth as possible. It will also provide you with details regarding what you can expect during the first few days in your program. The first document enclosed is the Pre-Arrival Guide. This guide provides you with useful information and is considered a must-have for every international student. On page 18 of the guide, you will find a “packing checklist” that you are encouraged to review prior to your departure. The second document is the “Homestay Guide for International Students. If you are participating in the Homestay program, it is important that you read this guide prior to your arrival. The remaining attachments include the “Orientation Schedule” for 3,4 and 5 September 2013 as well as a map of RRU. All 3 days of the Orientation are considered mandatory. You will note that on Day 1, on 3 September 2013 there are two groups that will be doing an English Skills Assessment (this is mostly for our own purposes and to make sure we understand the support you need). You will be in Group B, starting with a “Homestay” briefing in the Mews building at 9:00am. This will be followed by the English Skills Assessment at 10:00am and ending at 12:30pm in Room 108 of the Learning Innovation Centre (LIC). Should you arrive before September 3rd, you are asked to present yourself at the International Study Centre that is located in the Grant building (first level, Room 131). To help us best prepare for your arrival, please reply to this email with the answers to the following 3 questions: 1) Study Permit Have you received your study permit? 2) Accommodation Do you know where you will be staying?
