Stargurl20:Ok. I think I'm starting to get the picture. To give you some context, I'm presently single, and no -- I'm not searching. I'm sort of ambiverted in the sense that I like people enough to interact with them for long periods of time. But ultimately, I value my personal space, my personal taste, interests and objectives above all else. As a result, I'm the typical example of a non-conformist. A lot of men I know often consider me proud and egotistical, and they believe I should be lonely and frustrated -- which is far from the truth. I usually scoff at their attempts to label me and categorize me, trying to tell me what to think. It's one of the reasons I think the Red Pill is a joke, just like radical feminists. The two sides make a lot of unjustified presumptions about the opposing gender without bothering to present any empirical evidence. If there's one thing I've learnt in my life, it's to not let others have agency over my life and control my decisions. They don't have to do it directly. It's easy to feel pressured to do something when you find that your peers are doing it, but as I said earlier, we're all wired different. When you eventually accomplish what you think you want, you may eventually find that it wasn't worth the effort, not because it's pointless, but because it's not what YOU really wanted. Marriage isn't a casual affair. It's deeply serious and it will affect your life forever. If you're sure that you're not prepared, don't do it. Don't allow your ego to fool you. Society has created this erroneous thought in young people that if they do not get married on time, then they're failures. This is predicated on the false assumption that ALL OF US in this blue sphere called earth share the same interests, intents and purpose. It's a subtle form of psychological projection. They're essentially trying to speak for you and tell you what you need. They (perhaps innocently) want to impose their thoughts and belief system on you. Your happiness should be the most important factor for you. And anyone who truly cares for you will want you to be happy. |
chiboyo:Hans Niemann has a history of cheating though. And he lied in an interview that he had only cheated on two occasions in the past - once when he was 12 and the other at age 16. That was until Chess.com published evidence contradicting his story and it was discovered that he has cheated in a large number of online games, some as recent as 2020. Some were even tournaments with a cash prize at stake. Personally I think this already indicts Hans as a dishonest person. That being said, there is no empirical evidence that Hans cheated over the board. His rise in ELO ratings has been considered abnormal, to say the least - growing at astronomical rates even faster than Magnus Carlsen and Bobby Fischer. Considering his cheating past, it's understandable that people are suspicious. As for the lawsuit, I'm not really sure what to think of it. There's always the possibility that Magnus and Chess.com are withholding further evidence that Hans truly cheated over the board at the Sinquefield Cup, anticipating Hans making this kind of move. If that's the case, then this lawsuit could actually turn around to bite him in ass. |
Baddestguyp:It's the first manga I ever read too . Although I only read it when I saw comments online saying the anime butchered the second half of the series by excluding many chapters from the manga which happens to be the source material. So I had to take a look, and I honestly enjoyed it more than the anime. As someone who wasn't exactly a fan of anime, even till now, Death Note was a big deal for me. |
Stargurl20:Reading your posts, you strike me as an emotional and/or romantic individual. You don't involve yourself with guys you have no passion for. You really shouldn't be made to feel guilty about this. Everybody is wired different. Most of the people who have engaged you on this thread appear to be more pragmatic in nature and thus, to them, security and status takes preponderance over feelings such as love. Do you see yourself as someone who won't be happy in the long term marrying a guy you don't love? Perhaps you may fall into depression after a couple of years because you feel you can't escape a loveless relationship? In that case, I prescribe that you actually take love serious in your decision. Although, I always tend to think that someone who values love above all else won't mind being alone. Being alone to such a person is better than being with the wrong partner. In light of this, it may seem quite paradoxical that you're not satisfied being alone. Is it family pressure? Concerns about social status? Or perhaps you are overestimating the relevance of love (feelings) in your mating decisions? Something has to give. |
DEATH NOTE "An intelligent high school student goes on a secret crusade to eliminate criminals from the world after discovering a notebook capable of killing anyone whose name is written into it." Re-watching it for the umpteenth time because it was a brilliant masterpiece. One of the reasons I fell in love with anime back then.

For anyone following the Magnus Carlsen vs Hans Niemann drama, the latest update this morning is that Hans has sued Carlsen. I already created a thread to discuss this before I found out there was a Chess thread on this forum https://www.nairaland.com/7394813/chess-news-magnus-carlsen-sued |
I wonder if any chess enthusiast here is following the present drama ongoing in the chess world. Apparently, Magnus Carlsen, who is presently the World Chess Champion, has being sued to court by 19 year old chess grandmaster Hans Niemann for defamation of character after Magnus "accused" him of cheating in a game they played in a chess tournament where Hans beat him. ^^^ I put the word accused in quotation marks above because Magnus didn't exactly make any direct accusations of cheating towards Hans. After the game, he only published a tweet with a Jose Mourinho clip saying "if I speak up, I'll be in trouble. This was after he withdrew from the tournament after his loss to Hans Niemann. Of course, people interpreted the cryptic tweet to mean that Magnus was accusing Hans of cheating in their game, despite the fact that they played classical, face-to-face, over-the-board chess where it would be harder to catch someone in act of cheating due to the strict security measures taken by officials to limit fair play violations. |
Nyamuri:Lol, that's an outrageous asssumption. Ironically, and contrary to your claims, the U17 Nigerian women football squad includes women mostly from other tribes besides Igbo .(In fact, the most represented ethnic group in the squad seems to be Yoruba).

VEHINTOLAR:It went to extra time. Then penalties. Nigeria won in penalties 4-3. |
uche40:It seems they couldn't maintain the momentum afterall. A. M. Villarreal scores for the US in the 40th minute. Nigeria 1-1 United States is the present score. |

Diamond by Rihanna isn't a new single. Lol. |
Hmmmm... Nice placement from Edafe. Hopefully they can maintain the momentum after the early goal. The game is still very young. |
