congrats. I actually selected hungary during my application and was asked to change it on the day of the test, that there is no hungary for msc. how were you able to do it, and what state of origin please.

I wonder too because I know Nigeria did not renew there agreement with Hungary this year. That was my 1st choice too. On their website we couldn't even apply. We could just register our email but couldn't move further.I kept checking the website till the deadline.

I also got the China MOFCOM nomination for PhD and have since filled the online form. I was also at the board headquarters at Abuja on Tuesday. They said we should hold on to our forms till they call us again soon, probably this week or next after their meeting with the Chinese Embasy today Friday.

I received the sms on 25th of April and I filled the form on 27th. The deadline was 30th. They called and said that I should prepare the hard copy and also scan them as a document. I'm from Ebonyi state.

Ebonyi. We applied on the Chinese scholarship website and the deadline was on 30th April. We will be called later to submit the hard copy of the form we filled online. That is what we are waiting for now.

My second choice. Hungary was my first choice but Nigeria didn't finalise our deal or so with them so we were no longer qualified to apply this year. I was surprised that I was nominated for my second choice. I just forgot about it when Hungary was out for me. What about you?

P.S. I applied for masters.

What might have been the cause of this delay? Should it be the list is not yet ready or they are planning to remove some peoples names or they are expecting more names from high profile politicians or the web developer/programmers are finding it difficulty in uploading the list. or the chairman is not around to sign the lists or what........

As this list is been delayed it is really affecting me now because don't want to loose two opportunities at the same time.

Exactly, you know this is the last and final list. So I think the politicans factor is the major issue. I also think that they have been adding and removing names. Let us just hope and pray for the best.

MFA Interview Monday and Tuesday

But now the story have changed.

This is quite serious oo and this particular issue is not new because MFA had this kind of issue in 1 or 2 recruitments in the past (I can't remember the exact one). However, we hope for the best. I just hope that the batch b list should come out soon. This whole stuff should just end let us all rest. Good luck everyone.

I'm sorry about your experience with the FCSC. And yes I also agree with your assessment of our messed-up system. But having sat on different job interview panels, I know for sure that a university degree is often overrated. What the right-thinking employer is looking for is not a boring quipp that one had a first-class...but the demonstration of a sound intellect. Yes man-no-man is rife, but then a firstclass graduate should be able to distinguish himself/herself at interviews... I had once been on a panel that interviewed more than 60 candidates for openings at my establishment, and in came in this young woman with a firstclass degree. We all were pleasantly shocked how good she was. At some point I had to wade in to ask her questions beyond her immediate area of training and she was ready for me. It was simply impossible not to hire a talent like that.

And as for you, the loss is the FCSC's: an institution that closes its doors to bright candidates will soon start dying from within, because the ideas by which it should have thrived will be a scarce commodity for them.

Nice write up. I just pray this status quo will become a history one day.

Finally we are taking about the corrupt practices in the country. So if you don't have anything to contribute or say about the system then close your mouth.

Lolz. It is well. Just keeping developing yourself. Have you applied for any scholarship. Try Commonwealth Shared Scholarship. Nigeria has no say in this one unlike others. So no matter the outcome, you are assured that it is based on merit. Good luck in all your endeavours.

Let people come for interview and then listen to how they talk and reason...that's how you get the right man for the job

You guys never come out here to tell us when such man-no-man moves pay you. Who knows if you didn't bag a first class via the same means. Don't get me wrong, just letting you know that in Nigeria everything is up for sale--first class degrees, jobs...etc.

University degree isn't the only thing employers consider. For instance, what pains did you take to create a killer CV? How much effort did you invest in your statement of purpose?

First class is not in university degrees alone, your job application must also be of first class standard to be considered. And yes, you may have a third class degree but put forward a first class application. So, you get the job.

This is a very good and holistic write up. But FCSC didn't give people the chance to proof any thing you wrote here. That is the problem.

PS. I didn't get it the wrong way Lolz. I'm also involved in other talent development stuffs etc. For CV I know different CV methods and use the one that best suits the job or counrty. My only problem and the reason I commented on this post is just to throw more light on our messed up system. All the same I like your level of thinking. Some people are just going so off.

It is a pity that some people do not understand the point of discussion and you are one of them. We are discussing the ill practices in the country and you are busy going off point. Who told you am making mouth with first class or not. I know very smart people of differnt classes. You don't even know me, my skills, name, or what am into. So what does what you said now have to do with the fact that the system is corrupted and people like you are supporting it. I have handled recruitment processes in some organizations I have work with and I know that other things are considered in addition with grades too. That is why other methods like aptitude test etc are involved. But the FCSC cannot boast of going through these processes. Or did they give the 1st class, 2.1, 2.2, 3rd and pass candidate any chance to proof themselves?? NO!!! They didn't. If they did anybody can bypass others even 1st class or 2.1 candidates by doing well in other areas.

Neoclassical and I are not saying that others shouldn't be recruited. Off course not. But due processes should be followed and ill practices must be stopped. The truth remains there is an error and no matter how we try to close our eyes, one day it will affect you directly or indirectly. So Stevealibi what then is your case if I have what you wrote above?? (which is not even the point of discussion).

My dear it is a shame. I graduated with a first class and have all the documents needed for this recruitment. To my greatest suprise my name did not come out too. In fact only 2 first class candidates where successful in my state out of over 70 shortlisted names. I weep for the country. This is a big time blow!!!
