@ Ilish What was your experience with the 109p software for SRT 4930 as compared to 115p? Are there other features that you miss besides the better audio? I am seriously thinking of downgrading (upgrading?) my software to 108p from Strong Technologies if there is no better alternative. |
@ illish @ pidzo According to a member of RDI forum the former software for SRT 4930 i.e. 112 of 14-4-2011 had some problems and was affecting the receiver in the following way: ** It can now record only 2 channels simultaneously instead of the original 3. ** There is a bug that seems to limit timer recordings to less than 10 minutes. ** The preview window while checking recordings is black blank and only plays if you press OK. ** Sometimes the stb freezes when you play a media file (F1 button). ** The audio is very low compared to SRT 4669 and 4910 I have noted that you have upgraded your SRT 4930 with the latest software namely 115p dated 25-5-2011. Kindly please find out if the above problems have been eliminated. Stopping a recording is what annoys me most because the receiver freezes completely. Also you can not preview your recordings in the small preview window on top right hand corner. |

Is it a picture quality meter or timer? NO,it doesnt have P in P Thanks illish. How about the meter thingy? What does it do? What is the difference between 1080i and 1080p ? I am using the new firmware version 1.12p. One thing I have noticed though is that 4930 is cooler (heat-wise) than 4910 beside being smaller. |

Hi Nash, Appreciation for all your efforts. I am geman based in Kampala, Uganda. I must apologize for not responding to the topical issue, however, I need your input on challenge. I have moved around in Kampala looking for shops with Satellite equipment like big dishes(2.4m and above), serious LNBs like Fuji, Inverto and Invacom, Receivers of MPEG4 format etc but can't seem to find any. I am tempted to think that Nairobi and Mombasa could be having shops that sell such equipment since lots of equipment that come to Ug among other few routes, come through Kenya. Could you please give me some info on these shops particularly their contacts? For your own information, I am interested in getting a Solid 2.4m Pole mount motorized dish, a very good LNB preferably Fuji or Inverto Ultra Black quad and an MPEG-4 Receiver/ decoder. I want to track Badr6 (26East) for fox series and Fox movies and then Nilesat (7East). Your advice on this will also be treated with the utmost regard. Many thanks. @geman I was stationed in Kampala for 4 years up to mid 2010 but I now live in Canada. I am surprised that you cannot find satellite equipment as you mentioned. I have a feeling that you have just been sleeping and enjoying the good weather (and beatiful women !!). Kampala is a small organized city (unlike some places I know in ***) and you can do all your window shopping for the whole city in one day on foot or if you are lazy, by Boda Boda motor cycle. All the equipment you mentioned are available in serious satellite shops there. I had at least 10 different dishes ranging from 90cm to 12 ft all bought locally. Secondly it is not true that "--- equipment that come to Ug among other few routes, come through Kenya." Most satellite equipment are brought in from Dubai by air thru Entebbe which is in Uganda. Try reading the RDI forum (http://www.rdi-board.com/showthread.php?t=36090&page=326) and you will see that they are many active members from that country and all of them within your reach. You can for example send a PM to post #4885 on page 326 and I am sure that you will be directed to the right shop. So Bwana Geman my advice is simple. Get off your arse and move around and you will find what you want (not the women !!). |
