Christianity EtcRe: Did God Create Some People To Never Lack? by UgoFly: 8:34am On May 11
This is an important question.

You look at your life and the life of your age mates in other climes or from wealthy background and you ask yourself "why me?"

But then again this life is not summed up in the totality of what you can gather but the level of your impact. You can have huge impact on people without financial stability or wealth. So no matter where you find yourself in life, live as God's tool/vessel for mankind. This is the essence of life.
Nairaland GeneralLetter To Seun Osewa: Nairaland Should Be Monetized by UgoFly(op): 9:00am On Apr 11
Dear Seun Osewa,
I am a long-time Nairalander one of the many who joined back in the early 2010s and have never left. For over a decade, Nairaland has been my daily go-to for real talk: politics, business, tech, career advice, Naija entertainment, and everything in between. It is still the most authentic Nigerian online space. But brother, with all due respect, it is time to monetize the platform for its users.
Look at what is happening around us. TikTok’s Creator Rewards Program, YouTube Partner Programme, Instagram Reels bonuses and Facebook in-stream ads are paying creators real money for the content that keeps users glued to their apps. These platforms did not become global giants by accident. They gave their users a direct stake in the success of the platform. Nigerian creators who were once posting long threads here have migrated to TikTok and Instagram because that is where the money is. We are losing our best voices, our sharpest analysts, and our funniest storytellers to platforms that actually pay them for the value they create.
And the numbers don’t lie. As of October 2025, Nigeria has 47.8 million social media user identities — that is a massive 34.7% jump (12 million new users) in just one year, according to DataReportal. We rank among the top 5 countries in the world for daily time spent on social media (over 3 hours per user). Nigerians are some of the most active digital citizens on earth. Yet the one platform built by a Nigerian, for Nigerians, remains the only major one where the people creating the content get zero direct financial reward.
Imagine what would happen if Nairaland introduced a practical monetization system:
Ad revenue sharing for threads that cross certain view and engagement thresholds (just like X and YouTube do).
A Creator Fund or bonus pool for consistently high-quality contributors (similar to TikTok’s model).
Subscription tiers or tipping on posts for exclusive sections, premium discussions, or “Nairaland Gold” badges.
Even simple things like paid promotions or sponsored sections where users can earn commissions.
This is not rocket science. It is what every successful social platform has done. The result? More users stay longer, post better content, and bring their friends. Traffic explodes. Ad inventory becomes more valuable. Nairaland itself makes more money while finally giving back to the people who built it with their time and intellect.
Seun, you have built something special a truly Nigerian product that has outlived many foreign copycats. But the world has moved on. If we want Nairaland to compete globally and remain the number one destination for serious Naija conversation, we must give our contributors a reason to stay and invest their best effort here instead of chasing pennies on foreign apps.
This is a win-win. Better content = more users = more ad revenue = sustainable platform + empowered Nigerian voices. Our people are already online in record numbers. Let us stop exporting their talent and start rewarding it at home.
I am not asking for handouts. I am asking for a fair system that matches the global standard. Thousands of us long-time users are ready to support this move 100%. We just need you to take the first step.
Seun, the ball is in your court. Let’s monetize Nairaland and take it to the next level.

Respectfully and with all love for the platform,
A Dedicated Long-Time Nairalander

Why shouldn’t Boko Haram/ISWAP concern them? Beliefs of the sort lead to complacency. I read news not long ago of the US navy dropping troops on land to engage whatever. The major aim of defense forces is to carry out operations no matter where they find themselves.
Their focus is militants and pirates on the sea. It's not complacency. It's specialisation.

She was a combat pilot and the first female at that in the Nigeria Airforce.
Not at all. She wasn't.
PoliticsRe: Tolulope Arotile: Six Years After, Where Is The Justice? by UgoFly: 11:06am On Mar 03
Touching. But Arotile wasn't a combat pilot. The role she played was combat support. She supplied logistics with her helicopter. If a combat pilot was to be targeted and killed the way her death was described, it won't be Arotile. There are some excellent fighters still flying and causing havoc. It's quite unfortunate that our legal system is too weak hence the lack of diligent prosecution of the suspect. But her death was purely accidental.
PoliticsRe: Major, 3 Soldiers, Hunter Killed In Borno by UgoFly: 9:18am On Mar 03
None of the countries in this ongoing war in the middle east have lost the amount of soldiers we have lost in the same number of days. Yet we are all chilled and relaxed like we aren't at war with demons. We aren't deploying heavy aerial bombardments on all terrorist locations like Iran is doing across the whole Middle East. Our President's son is busy doing online scuffle with social media influencers and sharing 100 million. Our generals are still sitting in their cozy offices sipping tea and treating files. Northern Muslims are busy protesting the death of someone that has never cared about their existence in another continent. Everyone is just unconcerned while we are loosing hundreds of our troops daily to these demons who are getting emboldened. Muslims are keeping quiet because they are their religious brethren. Big Christian Pastors are dumb because they don't want to offend those in power. The US we hoped would assist us are currently engaging Iran. The situation is entirely hopeless but I know God, our Lord Jesus Christ, is not asleep. This Islamic bloodsuckers who have soaked the entire world with blood will get their doomsday from God Himself. It is well with Nigeria. We will not be crushed.

Before terrorism started, was Nigeria passport strong? Just flash back pre boko Aram saga. Was it bcoz of terrorism UAE stopped issuing visa to Nigerian passport holders? Some advanced countries eg Singapore used to be visa free to Nigerian passport. Was it bcoz of terrorism they stopped it?
A simple Google research will save you from this embarrassing question.

You were unlucky. Betnaija abi 9jabet had the same issue and they paid the guy 30m to repossess their domain name

Na Yahool and drug spoil Nigeria passport.
Nigeria doesn't rank top 50 nations with drug and fraud problems. Infact, all South American countries push drugs more than Nigeria. The sole problem is terrorism.

The effect of terrorism. No country wants terrorists within their borders.

This is why State governors that are advocating for peace with bandits should be removed and arrested.

She shouldn't be arrested. I don't support what she did but she should be sent to rehab or therapist not Nigerian Police Cell. This is why I don't support the way VDM exposed her. She trusted him with the truth and she is vulnerable. He shouldn't have played those records to the whole world. She is just 18!
