Education / Re: Allowing Fresh Graduates To Do Msc Without Nysc. by Ugwuoba2012(m): 6:49pm On Sep 21, 2013
@marv and applied maths you guys are on point, the main point is that the brain is still very hot then and some parents/sponsor are ready to train there child but once you go for Nysc they will feel that you are established and job and employment thing will be your priority, just spending an extra 18months to get an msc is no big deal, this will help us to help the country alot in terms of training experts in various area of science, engineering, basic medical science and it will also encourage people to go for phd, like in america phd is very common due to there system of education making things to be easy.
Education / Re: Allowing Fresh Graduates To Do Msc Without Nysc. by Ugwuoba2012(m): 7:50am On Sep 21, 2013
Government should look into these,if they want to country to have specialist in various fields in the country.
Education / Allowing Fresh Graduates To Do Msc Without Nysc. by Ugwuoba2012(m): 7:48am On Sep 21, 2013
Nuc should allow fresh graduates who are interested in doing there postgraduates studies to advance to it immediately they finish there undergraduate programmes this will increase the number of professionals in nigeria, imagine going for Nysc with bsc and msc, it will increase the number of experts in the country.
Education / Re: Unemployment In The Field Of Basic Medical Sciences In Nigeria. by Ugwuoba2012(m): 7:40am On Sep 21, 2013
I advice basic medical scientist to go and train as technicians and assistants in hospitals,it will help.
Education / The Penury Of Physiology And Anatomy In Unizik. by Ugwuoba2012(m): 7:36am On Sep 21, 2013
Nuc have not accredited the faculty of basic medical science at unizik what are they waiting for,the courses is a 4 years course leading to the award of a bsc in physiology or anatomy, final year students in the two departments have spent 6years and 5years for the pioneering set and current final year respectively, and students are crying and the school have provided everything and nuc have not come...NUC come and help and students are still admitted into the programmes...bsc physiology and bsc anatomy is only a stepping stone towards becoming a full anatomist or physiologist despite the unemployment in the field, the students are spending extra years...too frustrating .
Education / Fresh Graduates Should Be Allowed To Go For Postgraduates Without Nysc. by Ugwuoba2012(m): 11:44am On Sep 20, 2013
If fresh graduates who are interested in post-graduates without necessarily going for Nysc it will really help increase the number of professionals, experts and specialist in the various fields of study in the country. Just adding an extra 18months for msc will be helpful, imagine a person going to Nysc with bsc and msc...
Education / Allowing Fresh Graduates To Advance To Postgraduates Without Nysc. by Ugwuoba2012(m): 11:24am On Sep 20, 2013
Nuc and the ministry of education should look into this issue, allowing a fresh bsc graduate to do his/her postgraduate programme(pgd, msc) without necessarily going for the mandatory 1 year Nysc, then after the postgraduate programme the person will then go for Nysc the reason is because so many fresh graduates have interest in going further but once they go for Nysc the interest in advanced studies starts to decline they now prefer to go straight into the labour market secondly so many parents and sponsors have the mentality that once there child goes for Nysc that they are true with sponsoring him/her and therefore the person will fend for him/herself but when you allow the student to stay back or go to any other school to spend an extra 18months in school for advance studies before going for Nysc it will encourage professionalism, specialization and it will increase the number of experts in the various fields in the country, the government inturn should also provide study grants for such students...the top countries in the world today are those that encourages further studies, you will really want to know the reason behind the high number of phd holders in america,a young lad that have an msc will love to get a phd pretty soon...when a young person goes to Nysc with bsc and msc i think there will be alot of improvement in the system and it will also increase the number of experts in science and basic medical science who operates below 50% without an msc, only architecture adopted such a system making it a 6 years programme. But the one am talking about here should not be a compulsory one it should be meant for students who are interested in it. And it will increase the number of phd holders in nigeria then the government can be proud to make a phd the minimum requirement for lecturing in nigeria. What do you think about this idea?
Education / Going Into Msc Directly After Bsc Before Going For Nysc. by Ugwuoba2012(m): 8:17pm On Sep 19, 2013
I really want the federal government to look into these issue, interested students should be allowed to go for msc programme immediately they graduate without necessarily doing there Nysc these will increase professionals and experts in the various field of study...after the msc then he/she will go for Nysc, am saying this because many students are interested in going for post-graduate programmes but after there 1 yr Nysc due to the condition in the country they may change there mind and abandon there former decision. These will also help people in the biological sciences and medical sciences that lays emphasis on specialisation...america is developed today because they encourage further university education... Nuc and ministry of education should look into this because some parents have the mentality that ones there child goes for Nysc he or she can fend for himself, but if you allow a fresh graduate to do his pgd or msc immediately he is through with his undergraduate it will improve educational standards because that student is still fresh and can excel in post-graduate.
Education / Re: Unemployment In The Field Of Basic Medical Sciences In Nigeria. by Ugwuoba2012(m): 10:02pm On Sep 18, 2013
Hahahahaha...talking about research how many research institution is in nigeria currently. I still maintain my stand that they should scrap this courses in the undergraduate level ''bsc'' or they borrow a leaf from architecture by running the bsc together with the msc making it 6years at least giving the graduates a sense of belonging.
Education / Re: Unemployment In The Field Of Basic Medical Sciences In Nigeria. by Ugwuoba2012(m): 7:32pm On Sep 18, 2013
To me there is no need for this courses in nigeria since the health sector dont recognise them they only recognise medicine, pharmacy and health sciences and the worst part of it is that a good number of universities have started offering this courses, are you offering a course without any good plans for the graduate. They just have to scrap it off or change the curriculum, put some clinicals into it. not after a student have finished reading hefty books you will tell the person to go and buy a direct entry form to study medicine...even in postgraduate so many Bms graduates with Msc are still unable to secure an employment where people with Mbbs are prefered so what is the essence of it.
Education / Unemployment In The Field Of Basic Medical Sciences In Nigeria. by Ugwuoba2012(m): 7:55am On Sep 18, 2013
What is the essence of the bsc human physiology, anatomy or pharmacology programmes in our universities since graduates of these courses are not needed in the health ,public or private sectors. Graduates of these field are meant to be lecturers and researchers but how many lecturers are employed every year in nigeria and we have few bio-medical research institutions to absorb them...to me Nuc should scrap out the bsc human physiology, anatomy and pharmcology courses in the undergraduate level so that it can be offered only in the postgraduate level since medical doctors are given preference in the field and there is no job adverts for bsc holders of those fields inorder to reduce unemployment.

Career / Re: Human Anatomy & Physiology Graduates: Lets Meet Here by Ugwuoba2012(m): 3:33pm On Feb 09, 2013
Thanks olucheye, thats why i said that there should be a conference inviting the various stakeholders in education, health and labour sector to discuss on these. Either they upgrade bsc anatomy and bsc physiology to a better standard in these country or better scrap it off, inorder not to suffer the people.

Okechukwu chidiebere(Gurugenius) ''speaking for unizik SPAN & NAUBAMSSA'' Am a student of human physiology in unizik, everybody is saying that there is no job in anat and physio, then tell me any course you will finish studying in naija and u'l get an automatic job guarantee, the thing is that the physiology is divided clinical physiology and research.but the problem is with the ministry of health they dont want to implement clinical physiology as part of the health as it is being done in USA and UK. So thats why everybody is complaining in uk NHS trains physiology graduates in clinical physiology, for anatomy there is opportunities in stem cell transplants, transplantational medicine, histopathology,ART and clinical embryology, forensic medicine and anthropometry, but in naija it is all like a mirage. For the research we only have the NIMR which emplores only doctors, inwhich bms graduates are potential researchers in medicine and health sectors thats why nobel prize is shared b/w medicine and physiology. But they the ministry of health dont care. I think what is suppose to be döne is for the so called psn which is dormant dat is physiological society of nigeria, dats of anatomy, asson and span should organise a conference and invite the minister of health, the min.of science and tech, the min.of edu.,the nuc, and the various stakeholders of the various health sectors. Either to upgrade the basic medical science course in nigeria or abolish the bsc program by offering it only in postgraduate level. Although all over the world it is not a professional field. But they provide good parkage for the graduates in either research or clinical jobs. Pls i need comments.
