oh shut up! Just because you don't think tithing is necessary doesn't mean i should too. If Abraham paid tithe as a thankful offering for what God has done for him not because it was placed as law, why can't i do the same? You just go right ahead to assume all tithe payers do so because we've been brainwashed into paying a tenth. What i give to the church and why i give is between myself and my God.

I've made it a rule NEVER to partake in an argument that involves the catholic church. People were born into this, and if you think posting this here is going to be welcomed with open arms hahaha na laff i dey laff sha.

Notwithstanding let me just add that i don't see anything wrong with replacing pagan traditions with Godly doctrines. What's important is that you aren't worshipping the pagans of history in your heart but God in heaven.
How else did you expect the ancient Romans to be converted to Christianity...by completely preaching doom? Burning down their idols? Killing all those who refused to be a Christian? I'm sure they would have revolted. The church was wise in replacing their idols with God figures, this way in time they can gently be turned from pagans to Christians.

Now i agree the church has done atrocious things in the past(who hasn't) but that doesn't mean the whole body should be judged by what the pope does.

On the other hand, i will always be against the worship of Mary(or whatever it is they say they do with her) and the godlike status placed on the pope.

Understanding why certain things were done in the past is one thing, but still practising those things in the present age is something totally different.
I think it's high time the Roman catholic church reviewed her doctrines and made adequate changes to fall in line with what the bible actually teaches.

Which is wrong. Tithing is what the bible asks of us but forcing people to do it is just plain annoying. I hate when churches have log books for tithers n non tithers

It either gives them hope of becoming rich someday or because they have more time on their hand and the absence of a God replacement(in d case of those we aren't really interested in wealth).
