NOTICE OF VACANCIES IN THE RIVERS STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY UNDER SECTION 109(1)(G) AND (2) OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA 1999 (AS AMENDED) AND REQUEST FOR CONDUCT OF FRESH ELECTIONS IN THE 25 STATE CONSTITUENCIES IN THE RIVERS STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY

I write to formally bring to your notice vacancies in the seats of the under-listed constituencies and membership under Section 109(1)(g)of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).

The under-listed members who represented the respective Constituencies indicated against their names jointly and severally decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under whose platform they were elected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the day 11th of December 2023, As a result, by Section 109 (2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) and by Resolution of the House at the 90th Legislative Sitting of the Rivers State House of Assembly held on
Wednesday. 13th day of December 2023, their seats were declared vacant.

Consequently, I write on behalf of the Rivers State House of Assembly to kindly request for a by-election to be conducted to fill the vacant seats in the
Rivers State House of Assembly.

CONGRATULATIONS RT.HON.Barr. Ehie Edison ON YOUR THIRD ANNIVERSARY IN OFFICE AS THE DEPUTY OF THE SPEAKER OF THE 9TH ASSEMBLY, RIVERS STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY.

On this day 3rd June 2019, you were made the Deputy Speaker of the 9th Assembly, RSHA. An office which you swore an oath to protect and serve with full capacity. It is a pleasure to note that you have not failed in any of the promises which you made to the good people of Ahoada East Constituency 2 and Rivers State at large.

Your one year as the deputy speaker recorded a tremendous amount of infrastructural development, human capacity development, and community peace and reconciliation programs.

1. The completion and commissioning of Ihuowo ultra-modern community markets, Ahaoda East LGA

2. The completion and commissioning of Fully Equipped Up Primary School, Idoke, Ahaoda East LGA.

3. The completion and commissioning of Edeoha Community Market, Ahoada East LGA.

4. The completion of Ozochi Ultra Morden Market, Ahaoda East, LGA awaiting commissioning.

5. The completion of a standard landing Jetty in Ozochi Community, Ahoada East, LGA awaiting commissioning.

Rt Hon, you also invested in human capacity development programs for youths and the elderly, this aspect we know is a lifestyle and doesn't mean a lot to you but Rt Hon sir, we are mentioning them because they mean a lot to the people who have benefited from your kind nature and charitable lifestyle.

1. With the Deputy Speaker Initiative for widows, you gave over 150 widows the Sum of 3Million (3,000,000) Naira cash for business support/ empowerment.

2. You have also supported the orphanage homes with food and cash palliative.

3. And as an ambassador, a preacher of peace and love you also initiated the peace and reconciliation strategy of two notorious cult groups in Ahoada East, LGA.

4. You have also sponsored over 115 Upata sons and daughters in skills acquisition programmes.

5. And also a co-founder of the empowerment scheme of youths in 1Million Youth for New Rivers State.

6. Not to forget the just recent 5Million Naira cash palliative you donated to pregnant women, widows/widowers sick and aged persons across the 13 wards/ communities of ahead east local government area.

Today, we are not just celebrating the third (3rd) anniversary of your office as the deputy speaker of RSHA but also celebrating your integrity, steadfastness, ideology to community development and your proactive nature as a role model to the youths in the society.

Your report card for your first one in office recorded a handful of quality projects you single-handed built or initiated with personal funds and also that of your constituency projects.

Rt Hon, your achievements in this 3rd anniversary in the office are too numerous but we will try to list a few as most of the projects are already commissioned for the sake of this 3rd-anniversary celebration.

6. Townhall for the good people Udebu Community.

7. Townhall for the good people of Ihubuluko Community

8. Townhall for the good people of Okpoga Odhodu Community.

9.The completed fencing of Edeoha Community health centre.

10. Townhall for the good people of Ikata Community.

11. Market for the good people of the Ochigba Community.

12. Health centre for the good people of Ozochi Community.

13.50 million empowerment to your constituent.
14. Ongoing construction of Oshigbokor Primary School.

Rt Hon, when others are giving excuses you were busy working and inspecting ongoing and completed projects executed by your good office.

We know there are a lot of projects and empowerment schemes lined up in your To-do list yet to be made public, you are one lawmaker who believes more in action than words, there is nothing you have promised that you haven't fulfilled.

The Deputy Speaker RSHA uses the medium to reassure her constituent of continued quality representation and promise to complete all ongoing and also flag off new ones in the coming days before his tenure elapsed in 2023.

The Deputy Speaker RSHA, thanked all PDP faithful for the overwhelming support before, during and after the yesterday primaries that brought him back as the sole candidate of PDP for Ahoada East Constituency 2.

The leader of the decampees an APC Stalwart LoveGod Obuka AKA old-school reiterates their displeasure in Apc due to lack of people-oriented programs that has bedevilled the APC since its inception as a political party and has today with his friends and colleague have decided to dump the Apc and embrace the party that has the interest of her members and electorate at heart before, during and after the election.

Mr Obuka thanked the Deputy Speaker for always sitting project of impact to his people and the state at large and most recently is the ongoing construction of the modern primary school at Oshiugbokor community in Ward 9.

The Ward 6 Chairman, Comrade West Sunday thanked the decampees for finding their root after many years of deceit from a failed government of Apc at all levels.

Receiving the decampees Hon.Ogenma Idalunimulu councillor representing Ward 6 assured the decampees of equal rights and privileges because the PDP has no old or new members that it belongs to every members and he will always ensure an all inclusive party activities which he promise to make them enjoy every dividend as a party member.

On his part, the Contractor thanked the community for the harmonious relationship witness during the foundation laying and he urges them to always maintain such during and after the completion of this great job as been initiated by our pragmatic leader and representative Rt.Hon.Barr.Ehie Edison Deputy Speaker RSHA.

Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has signed into law bills on Value Added Tax (VAT) collection, Open Grazing Prohibition in Rivers State.

He has maintained that the judgement of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt had sufficiently addressed the illegality perpetrated by the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) on behalf of the Federal Government in the collection of VAT in States.

The governor stated this at the Government House, Port Harcourt, shortly after signing into law on Thursday, the Valued Added Tax Law No. 4 of 2021; The Open Rearing and Grazing Prohibition Law No 5 of 2021; The Child's Rights Amendment Law No 2 of 2021; The Residents Registration Agency Law No 6 of 2021 and the Naming and Renaming of Infrastructure Law No3 of 2021.

The signed bills were recently passed by the Rivers State House of Assembly.

WELCOME TO NIGERIA BAR ASSOCIATION (NBA), PORT HARCOURT BRANCH.

Today, a novelty football match was played between the NBA PH vs ALL STARS FC, PH in honour of the Rt Hon Deputy Speaker RSHA, Rt Hon Ehie Edison Esq to officially welcome him to the Port Harcourt Bar.

The match took place at the Rivers State Civic Centre, Sharks Stadium, Ph. ended 2-3 in favour of the All STARS FC, PH.

Immediately after the Novelty football match, the NBA P-H Branch hosted the deputy speaker and entourage at the NBA House PH to a surprise reception party with members of the NBA PH and the ALL-STARS FC fully present.

Hon Barr. Solomon Sokolo, member representing Abual/ Odual Constituency and the Committee Chairman on Judiciary who also doubles as the chairman of the NBA PH sports committee officially welcomed the honourable deputy speaker and his other colleagues for making out time to honour the invitation on a very short notice.

While speaking he said, " This event is the first of its kind to hold anywhere in the country where the NBA welcomes one of her own in such an exclusive manner" and they are blessed to have such a benevolent man of the person of the deputy speaker as one of them today in port Harcourt BAR.

Furthermore, the Hon member/ committee chairman also described the Hon deputy speaker as a "Dangerous giver" a man who doesn't speak from both sides of his mouth, if he makes you a promise, go and sleep he will do even more than expected that is who he is, a transparent leader, friend and colleague.

Also speaking at the event was Hon. (Barr) Dumle Maol, a member representing Gokana constituency in the RSHA and also the Chairman House Committee on Environment, wholeheartedly appreciated the Hon deputy speaker for the constant support he has shown him ever since their part crossed, in his words he said "DS I respect you cause what you are today is what kept most of us where we are today at the RSHA may God continue to bless you for all you do for us".

The Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) PH Branch, who was unavoidably absent at the event was represented by Barr. Chile Christian Woke, Social Secretary NBA PH, while speaking also welcomed th deputy speaker to the NBA and congratulated him for not just passing the BAR finals but also coming out the best.

The deputy speaker while speaking appreciated Hon (Barr) Sokolo Solomon, his colleagues and everyone who made the event a success, he thanked His Excellency Chief Barr E.N Wike in his words " I must thank specially my principal who is the Governor of Rivers State Chief Barr E.N Wike for allowing me to be where I am today by extension all of us who are politicians serving in Rivers State Government and I thanked we have a principal who is also a lawyer, is a true leader and defender of democracy and a great believer and supporter of the legal profession.

"A man who has always done everything within his power to make sure the judiciary in Rivers state works and live in a better environment we can't stop thanking God for giving us such a compassionate leader".

Still speaking the deputy speaker expressed great joy over the warm reception from the NBA PH Branch and the NBA football committee under the chairmanship of Hon (Barr) Solomon Sokolo, he expressed great joy and appreciation for honouring him and his colleagues as parliamentarians who have joined this noble and most prestigious profession in the world.

"And of course we will all agree even though some of us here are not lawyers that this is the most outstanding profession in Nigeria and by extension all over the world"

Lastly, the deputy speaker gave all the glory to God for the success of his BAR finals after many years of graduating from the University, he still has the privilege of going to Nigeria Law School (NLS) and also coming out with flying colours.

He also promised 100% support to the NBA Football Team through her Chairman Hon (Barr) Solomon Sokolo and also promise to support the NBA PH Branch behind the Governor of Rivers State.

In his words "I will always support the NBA PH BRANCH behind our principal His Excellency Chief Barr E.N Wike who is doing eventually everything we thank him and thank you all thank you and God bless you"

The high point of the event was when the deputy speaker donated the sum of 500 thousand Naira to the NBA Sport Committee and the ALL-STARS FC. Followed by his colleagues who also donated the sum of 100 thousand naira each for the NBA football committee and the ALL-STARS FC.

And the position of a Lifetime patron of the NBA Football Team was also bestowed upon the Rt Hon Deputy Speaker RSHA, Rt Hon Ehie Edison, Esq.

This is in line with the traditions of the Nigerian judicial system that greets graduates of the legal profession with the successful completion of annual legal studies at the Nigeria law school.

It is worthy of note that Rt.Hon.Barr.Ehie Edison meritoriously graduated with distinction at the Nigeria law school and has been this day to be addressed as Rt.Hon.Ehie Edison Esq by the law pavilion Nigeria Bar Association(NBA) in Abuja, Nigeria.

The Deputy Speaker, eulogies the CEO for his business-oriented personality despite the economic hardship in our country and encourage the CEO to always promote peaceful co-existence amongst customers and management as that alone is the hallmark of every business drive in our country and Africa at large.

The highlight of the event was the official defection of Hon.Owuze Umah (Ibubu Izaza) former Deputy leader of Ahoada East legislative council, Fmr chairman APC Ahoada East LGA.

Today the Deputy Speaker RSHA, Rt.Hon.Ehie Edison played host to EYC executive, former EYC president, Igbu president and all community President in Ekpeye Ethnic Nation.

In his remarks, the Deputy Speaker thanked all Ekpeye sons and daughters for been present within the short notice and implore them to be an ambassador of peace in thier different communities and homes that is the only way to bring more development to our people by the government led by our indefatigable Inlaw and Governor, His Excellency Barr. E.N Wike GSSRS.

The Eze Ugboji Ekpeye Logbo went further to unveil educational support for Ekpeye sons and daughters seeking to write Waec, Neco and Jamb to send in names through the community chairmen for issuance of forms and registration for free.

The pioneering president of Ekpeye Youths Congress senior comrade Boma Agi commends the Eze Ugboji for his kind gesture to the people of Ekpeye and Rivers State at large thereby declared an unalloyed of Ekpeye Youths to the Eze Ugboji in all his endeavours.

In attendance are former EYC presidents, EYC present Executives, Igbu Presidents and community chairmen.

The deputy speaker RSHA, Rt.Hon.Ehie Edison visits the people of Ward 5 the administrative headquarter of the Upata people(Constituency 2) in Ahoada East LGA, Rivers State.
The visit of the lawmaker is aimed at building a synergy between the government and his constituents as a way to bring more developmental program which is the bedrock of his representation to the people of Upata

The lawmaker immediately ordered for the fencing of Edeoha health center which has been without fence since it's construction and went further to preach peace amongst party faithful and non PDP members to vote massively come next week local government election.

The Deputy Speaker went further to thank the people of Ward 5 for the warm reception despite the short notice of his coming and promise to reciprocate the same soon.

The lawmaker also craves the support of all and sundry in the ward to vote massively for PDP in the next Saturday election in the state because that is the only Rivers party that has the yearning and aspiration of the people as ably led by the most performing Governor in Nigeria H.E Nyeso Ezenwo Wike CON GSSRS, POS Africa.Executive Governor of River State.
In their responses the community leaders and stakeholders the party thanked the Deputy Speaker for visiting the ward at a moment like this and went further to reassure him of 100% votes come next Saturday local government election for PDP and that ward 5 has been a PDP ward from 1998 till date.
