1. The Grand Norm of every nation is the constitution and every activity of all the entities within the association is encapsulated in the constitution. Anything outside the constitution is ultra vires, null and avoid.

“We are not aware he committed any crime; we only know and heard he is fighting for Biafra in the most civilized and peaceful way. We know he is not even living in Nigeria and has not stolen Nigerian money. He is aspiring for self-determination without guns or infringement of any one’s right. We heard he used radio Biafra and has never fought anyone or wanted to overthrow Buhari. He told Buhari to conduct referendum for Biafran people and spoke with a strong voice and Buhari pressed the panic button by arresting him. That was how he came here. We have been hearing of him before he came and when he came, we celebrated him and now in our football championship, we called him to sponsor it as someone different from all of us. He came here for the sake of peacefully and legally aspiring for self-determination; we pity him because he has done nothing. With the opening of the championship, we are not aware Kanu committed any crime” A prison inmate said on behalf of other inmates.

Ifeanyi Chijioke had conducted a quiet interview which was done through his source that visited Kuje prison and spoke with the inmate on a confidential note. The target of Ifeanyi Chijioke was to know what really came about voting Nnamdi Kanu to open and sponsor a football championship despite being charged with treason by the Nigerian government. Kuje prison is known for its high profile inmates either sentenced or waiting trial. The opening of the said football championship by Nnamdi Kanu signifies negligence and mockery of the charge against him. A man with such serious charge to have won the love and approval of the whole inmates is something of grave concern to the government owing to how his case is being handled. “Nnamdi Kanu keeps winning because he is light; the young man spoke the truth and we are aware what truth can do. Don’t be surprise one day you hear that the inmates revolted against Buhari for imprisonment of an innocent man that ought to be used as a model for agitation” One Mr Chukwuka, a resident of Kuje said when contacted over the phone to speak with Ifeanyi Chijioke.

Nnamdi Kanu was arrested on 14th of October 2015 en route to Biafra land after sufficient awareness he created about his transit. Before the journey back to Biafra land, he noted that he would freely come home without fear of anyone. Prior to his arrest, the Federal government had tried to jam or neutralize radio Biafra which Buhari accused of hate speech but to no avail. Frustration grew until on 14th last year October, Nnamdi Kanu was arrested. He was charged with terrorism related offences but two competent courts quashed the charges and released him unconditionally. To the greatest dismay of many, Buhari flouted court orders and said before the press that he would not release Nnamdi Kanu.

Meanwhile, since the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, Nigeria has not had it easy with millions of protesters across the old Eastern region storming the streets in demand for his unconditional release. Buhari applied maximum force in stopping unarmed protesters which resulted to series of murder and massacre. Various and leading human right institutions have termed the military action ‘an act of genocide’ “Most of the victims were shot from the back, either while running away or outright execution” a representative of Amnesty international who investigated Nkpor heroes day massacre said.

“Nnamdi Kanu has been a fearless and friendly person since he came into this prison. We are very much lucky to have him around because any time you come close to him; he lectures you what you don’t know. He is not inquisitive to leave here, he feels so relaxed and hopeful, and he feels more like he is doing what should be done or expected of him. We love him so much that we approved him to sponsor our football championship” the inmate said and continued “He was accused of hate speech but we have not observed that here.
He speaks truth notwithstanding who is affected and he encourages peace and harmony here. One thing we found out about this very man is his passion for people around him and that drew us close to knowing why he is here with us. He is here because of everyone of us; for a better Nigeria because with the emergence of Biafra, Nigeria will also be a better country” the inmate noted.

There was a rumored prison break in Kuje and Okah was reported to have escaped and manhunt launched against him. The prison break which was organized by few inmates was not clearly reported as there was conflicting reports. In some quarters, people believed that the prison break was staged to set Nnamdi Kanu up, so if he tries to escape, he would be murdered. While speaking on the development, the inmate said “I don’t know anything about prison break because we are stable here and have no reason to break the prison. The wardens here are professionals and we are happy with them, even if you open this prison illegally, Nnamdi Kanu will not leave because he did nothing to be here in the first place. We are not breaking out because we would leave here someday so no need trying to force our exit, to me the prison break is a hoax” he said.

The picture of the Football championship went viral on the internet with some Wardens partaking in the opening of the football championship. There seems to be joy and happiness that Nnamdi Kanu was with them and the inmate held this view “Not only us; the Wardens might have forgotten that he was charged with treason because there was actually no treason. You would not rightly blame the Wardens because they have to be at peace with the inmates and they are doing their jobs. Nnamdi Kanu is a political prisoner and not a criminal so being with him is an honor to the Wardens and to us the inmates”. There is a report that Buhari is unhappy with the support given to Nnamdi Kanu in the prison and might take drastic action against the Wardens.

“Taking action against the Wardens is frustration, Buhari cannot make people hate Nnamdi Kanu, he made the boy a hero and he should live with that. The Wardens must do everything possible to keep the prison in order and cordial relationship with inmates is key and they just did their job by supporting the championship” a retired Warden who does not want his name in print said.

The worst scenario of Kanu’s arrest was the emergence of Niger Delta Avengers who had vowed to cripple the economy until Kanu is released as a basis for dialogue. Recently; a Liberian vessel was also hijacked by CML to push for Kanu’s release. But Buhari has chosen military action which was predicted to end in disaster over releasing Nnamdi Kanu and discussing on a round table.

Last week, the world received a shocking but fake news peddled by a group of Judases who go by the name MEND, stating that they have reached agreement with the disastrous Islamic and blood-sucking government of Nigeria in which the Leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, will be released from his illegal detention on the condition that he renounces Biafra.

Nothing can be further from the truth!!!
For the avoidance of doubt, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu never consented to any agreement nor did he at anytime meet with MEND and their "Ahithophel Team (Not Aaron)." It is understandable that MEND and their Ahithophel Team are scavenging for relevance from their moribund status but they should not use the sacred name of IPOB or its leader as a means of survival. MEND and their Ahithophel Team can conveniently carry out their “Operation Absalom (Not Moses)” without dragging the name of IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu into that shenanigans.

On the other hand, IPOB and their leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu are in full support of any group of dedicated and hardcore freedom fighters such as the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA). We have stated unequivocally and without any fear of contradiction that we are fully in support of the NDA as they embark on freeing themselves from the British criminality called Nigeria, a contraption led by a man that committed treason on December 31, 1983.

What MEND and its Ahithophel Team must know is that Biafra is a spirit because Nnamdi Kanu, by the grace of God, brought spirituality into the agitation for Biafra independence. The fact that many people claiming to be fighting for the interest of the people have sold out in the past or that the so called elites engaged in the mortgaging of their soul to the devil does not mean the emergence of clean, conscientious and patriotic Biafrans is no longer possible. A lot of people thought the agitation for Biafra was dead before the emergence of Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB. One thing remains certain, things can never be the same after this. We assert that IPOB is not in the business of betrayal and we would die rather than renounce Biafra.

The restoration of the nation of Biafra is not subject to negotiation. If there should be any form of negotiation at all, it must be centered on asset sharing between Nigeria and Biafra and on the payment of reparations for money stolen from Biafrans by Nigeria through the 1970 twenty pounds deal and other subsequent acts of thievery by Nigeria against Biafrans. We want to make it categorically clear that MEND and their Ahithophel Team are strictly on their own and do not in any way, shape or form represent IPOB or the leader of IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. When we say “Biafra or Death”, we meant every syllable of that phrase.

Again, we reiterate that Nnamdi Kanu is not Ralph Uwazuruike and IPOB is not MASSOB. Therefore, anybody thinking that our leader will renounce Biafra is certifiably mad. For both IPOB and their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, it is either we get Biafra or we die getting Biafra. There is no middle ground.

MEND and their Ahithophel Team in their “Operation Absalom” are hereby warned to desist from deceiving the public with their disinformation and betrayal of the Biafran cause!!!

By Dele Sobowale

“We are simply saying that we have a very credible plan for dealing with the challenges we are facing, which we’ve been very honest about…there is still a long way to go…diversifying and repositioning” will bear fruit..” Minister of Finance, PUNCH, July 25, 2016, p 40.

That the Nigerian economy is in a recession is no longer news. In fact, for some of us, it was predictable, even long before the Economic Management Team was aware that it was on the way.

The International Monetary Fund, IMF, recently projected contraction of 1.8% for 2016. The Federal Government while not officially contesting the IMF estimates still clings to the faint hope that “the economy will show recovery in the third quarter of this year” (Mrs Adeosun).

One month of that quarter is over and there is no sign of recovery simply because there is no money to bring about a rebound.

The statements quoted above raise the question: what is the outlook for the rest of 2016? Asking government officials is useless. They will be the last to forecast bad news. They prefer the unpleasant surprise first and they can offer excuses after for the failure.

In the report by PUNCH, Mrs Adeosun, is on her way to the World Bank, cap in hand, to present the nation’s policy support document which would make it possible for us to source for $11bn [N387bn] from the external financial markets to help plug the hole created by budget deficits already incurred this year.

Before addressing the statements credited to the Minister, we need to quickly summarise where the nation stood as at the end of the first four months and then make projections for the rest of the year. Those figures will help us in deciding how much reliance we can place on the utterances of what the President calls his Economic Management Team, EMT.

In that same PUNCH, President Buhari reportedly asked, obviously in anger, ‘What do they mean by team? The Vice-President heads our economic management team.” It probably never occurred to Buhari that the question keeps occurring because most Nigerians with vast experience in economics and finance don’t think much about the quality of his “team”. To be quite candid, it is lightweight compared to others in the past and there has been nothing to induce confidence in the group.

The VP is a magnificent lawyer but nobody has ever accused him of being a great economist; the same goes for the Ministers of Finance, Budget and Trade. Even the CBN Governor is a banker and one of the best bankers Nigeria has ever produced, Mr Atedo Peterside, during the race for banking consolidation in 2004/5 told the truth that “it is much more difficult to be a great economist than to be a banker.”

At any rate, the CBN Governor is only responsible for monetary policy. Without sound fiscal policy, which the President, or his surrogate (in this case the VP) and the Minister of Finance provide, the economy is like a bird flying with one wing. Until recently, the CBN Governor was even prevented from introducing the measures required to soften the impact of an inevitable recession by a President who adamantly refused to consider devaluation of the currency until it was almost too late.

Nobody on the EMT had the guts to argue until Buhari went to London and was persuaded. Even then the CBN “floated” the currency and only recently permitted market forces to determine the rates.

These were the pre-conditions imposed by the global financial markets from which we seek the loans. We wasted precious time and Mrs Adeosun is now just on her way to start discussions which should have been concluded in April.

This is the end of July and the funds will not start to flow, if at all, until August by which time our debt burden would have increased and our ability to repay would have been further impaired.

A quick look at the results for the first four months suggest the economy is in far worse condition than anybody envisaged. In fact, the results are so off the mark the 2016 budget might as well be thrown into the dust bin. Nothing done from August to December would redeem it.

Against a revenue budget of N1.5tn, the actual revenue generated was N660bn or 44% of budget and the deficit was N890bn or -56%. Results for May and June are not yet available, but, one needs no doctorate in economics to realise that the trend started in January and continued to April had not been reversed. Governments still have no money to spend.

No major new private investment had occurred, aggregate consumption is either stagnant or declining and foreign exchange inflow is low. All the variables which can stimulate a reversal were going down and there is no light at the end of the dark tunnel.

Mrs Adeosun, like all government officials, is forced to be optimistic, even if there is no evidence to support her predictions. When she claims that “a boost in [agricultural] output is expected this year”, one is forced to ask if she had consulted the Meteorological Services who would have told her that the nation, on the whole, has experienced the lowest rainfall in decades this year.

“Low cost loans to farmers” is more fiction than real and “improved distribution” can only take place if there is any fertilizer to distribute in the first place. For most of the year, farmers have had little fertilizer supplied. How can imaginary boost in agricultural output help to “bridge the shortfall in oil revenue” as she falsely claimed? The outlook for the rest of 2016 is discouraging because what the President’s Economic Management Team announces is pure drivel.

The‎ Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra, (MASSOB), on Sunday rejected the Federal Government’s reported offer of a conditional release for the detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and several others.
It was earlier reported that a meeting between the federal government and representatives of some militant group proposed the release on Kanu and several others on the condition that they would drop Biafra agitation.

However, MASSOB leader, Comrade Uchenna Madu, in a statement, declared that the conditions “are not only laughable but inconsequential.”

The statement wondered how any sane man thought that Nnamdi Kanu would renounce Biafra and sell-out the good people of Biafra clamouring for self-rule.

The statement noted that Biafra struggle was bigger than Nnamdi Kanu or any other leader, pointing out that “nobody, not even Kanu can stop the tide.”

“MASSOB’s reaction on the FG’s condition on Nnamdi KANU’s release is a bluff of government that knows nothing about genuine self determination. This condition is not only laughable but inconsequential.

“MASSOB does not see Mazi Nnamdi Kanu as one who can betray his belief on Biafra. He is not a sellout, his ideologies on Biafra may differ, he can never betray hundreds of Biafrans that died recently on the course of Biafra.

“Secondly, Biafra is not a religious faith that can be renounced or abandoned. Nobody can renounce Biafra, it is an identity, culture, tradition and existence of group of nationalities, it’s not personal or individualistic.

“There are thousands of Biafranistic persons more determined, consistent, dangerous, focused, unshakable than Nnamdi KANU, Uchenna Madu and other leading figures in Biafra struggle.Biafra is also bigger than all the leading figures put together.”

“It is childish on Federal government to expect Nnamdi KANU to renounce Biafra, the fate of over fifty million people.

“MASSOB advises Buhari to save his battered Nigeria’s face from more diplomatic shame by allowing the court to grant Nnamdi Kanu and others bail.

“We shall continue to press for their release including the ultimate aim of Biafra actualization with non-violence. Nigeria will soon experience another dimension of non violence struggle that will marvel them. Soon the world will celebrate the downfall of the most corrupt country,” the statement asserted.

The Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brig-Gen. Paul Boroh (retd), has said ex-Niger Delta militants will start receiving their stipends on Monday.

Boroh consequently appealed to the ex-militants in the region to shelve the planned protests scheduled to hold on Monday.

This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the Head of the Media and Communication Department of the office of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Abuja, Mr. Piriye Keyaramo.

The coordinator, who expressed concern over the plight of the ex-agitators in respect of the delay in the payment of their stipends, explained that President Muhammandu Buhari appreciated their patience and the challenges were being addressed.

The statement read in part, “President Buhari attaches so much importance to the Amnesty Programme, which explains why the President in his inaugural address to the nation specifically promised to invest heavily in the projects, and programmes currently in place for the ex-agitators in the region.”

Boroh added that the Federal Government planned to improve the amnesty programme for the benefit of the 30,000 ex-militants and other youths in the region.

“President Muhammandu Buhari, is already putting together a youth development and empowerment package that would directly impact the ex-agatators and other youths in the region,” he said.

The Movement for the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, Sunday, lash out on the Federal Government and the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta who are currently engaged in a dialogue to end renewed bombing in the oil-rich Niger Delta describing their condition to free detained Director, Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, as laughable.

MEND had in a statement weekend through its spokesperson, Jomo Gbomo, said that it proposed to the Federal Government,” the release of Indigenous
People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, on the condition that he renounces the agitation of Biafra Republic” as resolutions to end the revolts in the south-east and south-south geopolitical zones.

But frowning at the resolutions from MEND, the Leader of MASSOB, Uche Madu,in a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Enugu yesterday, insisted that the agitation for Biafra Republic was hinged on self determination which has become a spiritual movement that cannot be quenched by any force.

THE spiritual leader of the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and International Coordinator of Biafran Christian Movement (ICBCM), Ndubuisi Igwekani, has said that more calamities would befall Nigeria if the Federal Government continues to detain the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mr. Nnamdi Kanu.

He warned that if anything untoward happens to the IPOB leader, Nigeria would be on flame, adding that the African continent would not contain whatwould happen if he dies in prison.

Igwekani stated this after an emergency meeting of Biafran Christian Movement yesterday, calling on the international community to prevail on President Muhammadu Buhari to release Kanu to go for medical treatment. “Federal government has no power to continue to detain Nnamdi Kanu after a court of competent jurisdiction had granted him bail. We want to call on President Buhari to release Nnamdi Kanu with immediate effect because we are running out of patience. They should release Kanu to go for medical treatment and if anything happens to Kanu Nigeria will be on flames and we will not take it lightly with the leaders of this country,” he threatened.

He dismissed Ohaneze Ndigbo as a knocked engine and called for a new platform to represent the voice of the Igbo nation. His words: “Ohaneze Ndigbo which is the motor that carries the entire Igbo nations presently has knocked engine by delving into politics. We are calling on the Igbo nation to come up with another platform that will chart the cause of Igbo socio-cultural affairs because the present Ohaneze is as good as dead and will soon be buried.”

“The leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo is not speaking the minds of Igbo nation. Look at what happened last week during their Exco meeting in Enugu when they were allegedly attacked as they were allegedly sharing money probably given to them by politicians.”

“We know that Igbo are suffering in this country and we need leaders who are not politicians who will speak on behalf of Ndigbo in this country which the Ohaneze Ndigbo has failed to do. We need people that can speak on the social cultural interest and not politicians.”

He lamented further: “The roads in Southeast zone are nothing to write home about. They are death traps and Ohaneze is not saying anything about it, they are after their pockets. We describe the gathering of Owerri as gathering of politicians who are looking for contracts and we will never associate ourselves with such Ohanaeze leaders.”

He also urged the people of the old eastern region who are now in the South-South not to be deceived by the enemies in the land that they are not part of Biafra, calling on them “to remain steadfast and come together to chart a new course for Biafra state where they belong.”

PoliticsHenry, Charles Okah, Nnamdi Kanu May Be Freed As MEND, FG Strike Deal To End NDA by ukomko(op): 3:24pm On Jul 30, 2016
The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) and the Federal Government currently engaged in a dialogue through the oil companies and security agencies have reached far-reaching compromises, including the release of former militant leader, Henry Okah, in prison in South Africa and Charles Okah, incarcerated in Nigeria.

They also agreed that ex-militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo , alias Tompolo, would not be harassed by government if he makes himself available as a delegate on MEND Aaron Team 2, while the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, would be released on condition that he renounces the agitation for “Biafra Republic.”

MEND in a statement by spokesperson, Jomo Gbomo, today (Saturday) announced other breakthroughs in the discussions that will end the revolt in the South-South and South East regions in a jiffy.

However, it said the recalcitrant Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, still has opportunity to embrace peace failing which a combination of military forces and volunteers in the region, would smoke them out.

The statement read: “The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) is the only militant group from the Niger Delta region who are presently engaged in a dialogue with the Federal Government of Nigeria – through oil companies and security agencies -with a view to resolving the current Niger Delta crisis.”

“Thus far, the deliberations have been fruitful, various concessions and guarantees have already been secured. Some of which include, but are not limited to: Release of Henry Okah, Charles Okah and Obi Nwabueze; Review of the life sentence handed to Mr. Edmund Ebiware based on a proposal put forward by the Aaron Team representative for Abia and Imo states, Senator Adolphus Wabara.

“Also, conditional release of IPOB leader, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu and others if they renounce their agitation for a “Biafra Republic,” the group said.

Furthermore, MEND said they agreed: “That Mr. Government Ekpemupolo shall not be arrested, harassed and/or intimidated whenever he makes himself available as a delegate of the MEND Aaron Team.”

It added: “That international arbitrator and conflict negotiator, American Dr. Judith Asuni shall be accepted as the representative of the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) on the MEND Aaron Team; that the criminal charges against Urhobo freedom fighter, Mr. Kelvin Prosper Oniarah shall be reviewed.

“That the life sentence which was handed to seven soldiers in 2008, who actively supported the Niger Delta struggle be reviewed under the Presidential Amnesty Programme. The affected persons are: Suleiman Alabi Akubo, Major. Mathias Peter, SGT, Alexander Davou, L.Cpl., Moses Nwaigwe, L.Cpl., Nnandi Anene, L.Cpl. Taatihi Emmanuel, L.Cpl and Caleb Bawa, PTE,” it said. .

“However, one of the most immediate and urgent fallout of the ongoing dialogue is the imperative for the Federal Government and MEND to jointly and separately take proactive steps to rescue and secure the region. This is in the event that the recalcitrant Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) continuing on its senseless and politically-motivated path of attacks on the country’s oil assets,” it noted.

MEND asserted: “To this end, both parties agreed that the Special Forces of the Nigerian Army should commence the purely routine but strategic military exercise code-named “Operation Crocodile Tears”; while MEND would commence a meet-the Government-Actors-and-People tour of the Niger Delta region code-named “Operation Moses”.

Northeast Nigeria is “close” to famine with hundreds of thousands trapped without help, and must be declared a “top emergency” by the UN, said Medical charity Doctors Without Borders on Wednesday.

The charity known by its French acronym MSF said the region devastated by Boko Haram’s Islamist insurgency had between 500,000 and 800,000 people trapped in areas that cannot be reached by humanitarian workers.

A UN “top emergency” designation — which would put Nigeria on a list with Syria, Iraq and Yemen — would immediately mobilise more resources to a crisis that has not received nearly enough attention, MSF said.

Boko Haram attacks in the northeast have declined over the last year, but MSF’s emergency programme manager Hugues Robert noted that aid workers were still limited in where they can go.

Some cities in the northeast, such as Banki and Bama, had gone up to 18 months without any humanitarian deliveries before aid agencies and the UN arrived in June.

“What was extremely shocking was the level of severe acute malnutrition,” Robert said, adding that communities faced “close to a famine situation.”

Many areas can only be accessed under escort from the Nigerian army, he told reporters in Geneva after returning from Borno state, the epicentre of the Boko Haram insurgency.

“We need the UN and all their agencies to consider this as a top emergency,” Bruno Jochum, director of MSF Switzerland, told reporters.

Boko Haram, which seeks to impose strict Islamic law in northern Nigeria, has been blamed for some 20,000 deaths and displacing more than 2.6 million people since 2009.
