It appears the ADC believes the only political strategy available to them is trying hard to turn the citizens against the ruling government using falsehood. What's the effect of your convention on Wike or the ruling party? This was how Boko-haram started thinking it will end in politics but has now degenerated to a menace that we are all suffering. |
The rate at which you guys keep displaying ignorance on issues of governance baffles me many times. There's a provision for community based development committee that oversee's the day to day activities of PHC's in our respective political wards across the country and it's membership includes the members of the community . They have an account that receives direct funding from the federal government and the management of that account it's collective which makes issues of monitoring very simple. Call to your village and ask... |

Wike is busy working while they other young man from River is only busy drawing battle lines daily. |
The hypocrisy and prejudice of many Nigerians is becoming too worrisome. It's not even up to two years when Wike was celebrated for outrightly calling out the federal Government under the leadership of president Muhammadu Buhari, flagrantly disrespected and interfered in the affairs of other state Governors. In the face of all this, he was awarded best Governor, nothing was wrong with his actions and now that the monster that was collectively nurtured is fully matured and practicing the craft he or she was made for, the same people are calling him names I do not wish to justify the position of Wike in the fuse going on between his predecessor but the Governor shouldn't forget that his only weaponry and armament in this ongoing battle is the law and the declarations from competent court of jurisdiction. From what am seeing, a well calculated pit has been dogged for him and his graciously walking into it with so much gods and impetus. |
Am really amazed and shocked by the self aggrandizing comments from overnight lovers of Fubara. From the cry against Wike rigging elections against labor party to Wike stoping Fubara from functioning. Fubara is just an escape goat that will be use for sacrifice. He failed to learn the tact of political socialization. I wish he knows how empty he is.... I understand Nigeria very well. Those supporting your weak mind and personality is not because the love you but because uptil now, they can't come to terms with the fact technical blow, Wike knocked them in 2023 general elections. |

Anti Nigerians will not like this news. They want the Economy to fail so their negative assertions can be proven. Empty barrels |
I stand with Tinubu on the decision not to pay a dime to Bandits. Someone has to put a full stop to this politically motivated kidnappings just to portray a particular seating government in a bad light or as a means of seizing political power. What's all this nonsense? If it's all about money, don't the have banks in their areas to attack and collect money with their sophisticated weapons? |

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan disclosed yesterday that the nation’s electricity generation capacity has increased to 6000MW just as he commissioned a 330/132/33kv transmission substation in Gwagwalada, Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The substation, executed by the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) under the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP), is meant to boost the wheeling of generated power to FCT and environs. Jonathan, who was represented by Vice President Namadi Sambo, also noted that the transmission infrastructure has increased to 5500mw, meaning that the nation is able to wheel much of the generated electricity, depending on the availability of gas. According to him, the second phase of NIPPs through the hydropower plants would generate up to 4,000mw and step up wheeling capacity to 20,000mw. There are the large hyrdos and the 13 existing medium hydro dams, mostly in the northern part of the country. The President also noted that his government had worked tirelessly to improve power in the country, stressing that posterity will judge his work positively. He noted that NIPP would soon enter its second phase, while assuring that the project would focus on the construction of hydropower plants, especially in the north. Jonathan also spoke of efforts to diversify Nigeria’s energy sources in the power sector, stating: “We are confident that posterity will place us on the good side of history. All the projects undertaken under NIPP were professionally advised and executed in the interest of our great country.” Of the FCT project, he noted: “Gwagwalada substation will evacuate power from 434mw Geregu II NIPP plant to the FCT through the 222.6kms 330kV double circuit line from Ajaokuta in Kogi State; there is a final 30km 330kV double circuit line terminating at the Shiroro (Niger State) and Katampe (Abuja) 330kV DC lines. “Since the completion of these works, the FCT and indeed the national grid have experienced remarkable system stability, especially during system disturbances that have in the past resulted in total system collapse.” Also speaking, the Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, stressed: “We are pleading with those vandalising our gas pipelines to give Nigeria a chance to enjoy what this administration has done. Today we have 6,000mw generation capacity, if there is gas, and we can evacuate up to 5,500mw.” |
Am totally confused about this country. Femi adesina please show us the pictures of your boss in Paris.... |

Are you supposed to quarrel PDP governors or question APC governor that are busy with the affairs of state that does not concern them. |
Imoke can proud of the following: monorail linking ICC, first functional shopping mart (spar) in calabar, standardisation of educational sector through provision of state of the art equipments, construction og rural roads, institute of management and technology, ikom stadium, digitalisation of cross river civil service, health sector reform etc. Imoke believes in action than words. |

That Donald Duke’s Gaffe on Ayade Former Cross River State Governor, Donald Duke was recently in the news for a very wrong reason when he referred to professor Ayade as an undertaker who had come to bury the state. This gaffe left many wondering whether the erstwhile governor really made that statement. But since it was an open statement and he has never denied it, the question then is, what could have prompted such a gaffe from a man many thought, despite his many glaring failures as the state governor, was at least respectable for the very reason that he had refuse to interfere in the affairs of succeeding administrations. His very choice of the word, “Undertaker”, is absurd as it implies that the state was dead by the time Ayade came in. But if this be the case then, happenings in the state since 2015 have proved that Ayade has managed to raise up the dead instead of burying it. Then Ayade deserves kudos rather than knocks from all and sundry, least from a man who plunged the state into debt through economically unviable projects executed at inflated costs. It was his debts that could have crippled the state that Ayade’s government is paying now at 1.5 billion naira a month. Objective comparison of Duke’s and Ayade’s administration reveals a yawning gap. Putting the two on scale, it would take at least hundred times of Duke’s achievements to balance up with Ayade. Firstly, Donald Duke was governor at a time when the state was still reaping fortune from the over seventy oil wells which were later given to Akwa Ibom State via a Supreme Court judgment. This was as a result of political shortsightedness of Duke who failed to see the potential danger ahead. The obudu cattle ranch and Tinapa projects of Duke are of no economic impact on the common man, instead they are drain pipes on the state’s meager revenue. In the area of Agriculture, Duke also failed woefully as the plantation system he met were in shambles by the time he left office. His administration concentrated huge resources on tourism which was under social services heading in his budget planning process. This perhaps is a reflection of his flippant character and his natural inclination to funfair to the detriment of real development. On the contrary, Ayade has delivered in three years and from nothing the most spectacular performance of any governor in the history of Nigeria. His industrialization projects including the Garment Factory, Calabar Pharmacy, The Cotton Farm, Ogoja Rice Mill and a host of many others show a mind serious about the development of the state. Well-thought out and meticulously executed projects which have direct bearing on the economy of the citizenry are hallmark of Ayade’s government. Infrastructures have witnessed unprecedented attention under Ayade touching the home of the erstwhile governor in particular. Welfare of the people is another area where Senator Ayade has performed brilliantly. Civil servants in the state as well as the general citizenry will attest to this. Salaries are being paid as at when due. Ayade runs an inclusive government that empowers thousands financially. Unlike Ayade, Duke sold all the assets of the state like the liaison office in Lagos, metropolitan hotel, all the state's estates and government houses in state housing . In addition, he sold the state's doctors quarters ,all government houses in the federal housing estate and government land. While Ayade is building assets for the state and expanding agriculture with several revolution in the areas of palm, cocoa rice, banana and yellow maize. Ayade is establishing industries in the state to ensure a solid future and has improved human capital development of the state. Ayade has also brought innovations to curbing crime and criminality in the state by adopting hi-tech security approach in the state and has created massive youth employment for the teeming young population in the state unlike Duke. Ayade has further shown he is a true leader as he is not bias as regards location of projects. Most of his major and key projects are not located in his senatorial district as Duke's senatorial district are the greatest beneficiary of most of Ayade's projects. But the question still lingers, why would Duke commit such a public blunder? This question is assumes more importance when one recollects that the whole world has been celebrating Professor Ayade as the best thing to ever happen to governance. A more recent testimony is the public acclaim for Ayade by the United Nations Development Programme, UNDP, which lauded his leadership style and quality. Why would Duke then not be afraid of swimming against the tide of public opinion? The answer lies in the fact that Duke knows that at the pace Ayade is going he will be totally erased from the political consciousness of Cross Riverians soon. Under Duke the budget process was incremental budgeting otherwise known as one item budget which means yearly increase of the budget eg under Duke tourism had the highest allocation and it was captured under social services rather than economic. Duke budget was not ambitious and was not committed to industrialization rather about creating infrastructure to boost tourism . He didn't require much, he made the situation worst by internal borrowing at commercial rate, resulting to leaving the state indebted to the tune of 98 billion naira which he left behind which became due for collection in 2007, leaving a time bomb for Liyel lmoke where 1.5billion naira was been deducted monthly from the state account to service the loan . In addition, Duke still collected Ecowas loan for the Tinapa project at 18billion naira, after which the state lost bakassi and its 76 oil wells. For that singular action by Governor Duke, Ayade is still paying for that loan till date . Imoke also paid part of it.The loans collected by Duke is responsible why the present government of Governor Ayade is operating under budget deficit where 1.5billion naira is deducted monthly to service the loan. In agricultural sector, where Governor Ayade is currently making huge impact, with his banana, cocoa, rice and yellow maize projects, Duke was a massive failure as all his projects in that areas never made head way. His biggest presence in the agricultural sector was his pineapple project that couldn't see the light of the day. Governor Duke met a plantation economy, rather than sustain and improve on it he couldn't handle it as they all failed. Duke has a lot of Gratitude to show to Ayade, as he brought him back to political relevance in the state, after his self styled political exile. Governor Duke 7 years in office cannot be compared to Ayade's 3years as he waited till one year to leaving office before most of projects were crystallised . But in the case of Ayade under 3years most of his projects are adding values to the lives of Cross Riverians already. On the state's reserved fund, Governor Duke left one billion in the fund and when he was leaving power, influenced the passage of a very selfish law that nobody should touch the money till 2023 when he knows power will return to back to his senatorial district but the house of assembly in their wisdom and in the interest of the state amended the law to ensure some of the funds could be used for certain interventions. Such interventions resulted to some projects like IMT ugep, CRUTECH medical college okuku campus,CRUTECH auditorium, and 3 nursing schools across the state. Unlike Duke, when Governor Imoke left office he was able to save 5billion in the reserved fund for the state . The huge loan incurred by Duke has today made it very difficult for the state to borrow and governor Duke is the only governor in the state who enjoyed federal government guarantee for his loans. The idea for the reserved fund is saving for the future. Governor Ayade believes in prosperity agenda for cross river state, he is an intellectual deep Person , an intellectual with an eye for the future showing in all his budgets . The budget deficit that he is paying today were as a result of Duke's action . It is important at this stage to know that You don't plan according to your pocket, the Tinapa project was bigger than the budget of cross river under Duke . The debts he left was bigger than the state despite the deficit, Ayade is managing the internal deficit by bringing a lot of intellectual intervention which have today delivered garment factory, rice city, tooth tip factory, cocoa factory, calapharm, ogoja rice mill, agricultural revolution with the banana plantation, yellow maize, and cotton e.t.c. These were projects Duke's incremental budget cannot handled. In 7years his achievement in office cannot be compared to Ayade's 3years . To this end, Governor Ayade has learnt from his failures because of his huge debt incurred for the state, today the state cannot borrow. Duke was the only Governor that had guarantee from federal government for loans and he did commercial bank rate putting the state in further financial challenges. If Liyel Imoke that was the political pathfinder learns to respect Duke ,he should learn to respect Liyel and Ayade. |
