uzoexcel: watching the 'counting' on sky news...the 'yes' guys are really serious...but i have to applaud the interest shown by every scottish person eligible to vote even down to the 16yr olds...in some counties the turn out was 100percent meaning that every eligible person turned out including the old..I hope and pray nigerians can take a cue from this when the next election comes around.

Between if the 'yes' guys carry the 'night', then David Cameron may have to resign before the end of tommorrow evening as expected..hmmmm
Same here I am sure the yes guys will take it

yungchop: Omo please scotland be an independent country jare, so that your currency will be less that the dollars. Hereby making it possible for people to visit the place, pounds is a very stupid currency! Ma papa nearly sell him house because ma brother wan go school for UK
i think the independence of scotland will present a lot opportunities like you rightly mentioned....the other thing that amazes me is how easy and simple its for people to go their separate ways. Maybe we can try same in Nigeria....if scotland succeeds.......i dey laugh oh!!!!
Foreign Affairs"To Be Or To Be" Scotland And The United Kingdom.... by ulster(op): 1:56pm On Sep 18, 2014
The fate of the United Kingdom is at stake today as Scotland begin voting in a referendum on becoming an independent state, deciding whether to unravel a marriage that helped build an empire but has increasingly been felt by many Scots as stifling and one-sided.
The question on the ballot paper is simplicity itself: "Should Scotland be an independent country?" Yet it has divided Scots during months of campaigning — and in 15 hours today, the future of the 307-year old union with England hangs in the balance.
More than 2,600 polling places opened today at 7 a.m. and will close at 10 p.m. Turnout is expected to be high, with more than 4.2 million people registered to vote — 97 percent of those eligible.
Polls suggest the result is too close to call, with the pro-independence Yes side gaining momentum in the final weeks of the campaign.
First Minister Alex Salmond was casting his vote near his home in northeastern Scotland. If the Yes side prevails he will realize a long-held dream of leading his country to independence after an alliance with England formed in 1707.
Pro-independence forces got a last-minute boost from tennis star Andy Murray, who abandoned neutrality and signalled his support of the Yes campaign in a tweet to his 2.7 million followers early Thursday.
Anti-independence leaders including former Prime Minister Gordon Brown have implored Scots not to break their links with the rest of the United Kingdom.
On a foggy morning in Scotland's capital, Edinburgh, a heavy stream of voters began arriving at a polling station in the city centre the moment it opened. The mood was electric, tinged by nervousness.
One of the first, Anne Seaton, said she had voted Yes — "because why not?"
"Scotland got under the English Parliament by mischance," in 1707, she said. "It's time now for Scotland to make a deliberate decision for independence."
Voters expressed a mixture of excitement and apprehension about Scotland's choice.
Thomas Roberts said he had voted Yes because he felt optimistic about its future as an independent country.
"Why not roll the dice for once?" he said.
Once the polls close, ballot boxes will be transported to 32 regional centres for counting of the votes. The result is anticipated Friday morning.
Roberts said he was looking forward to watching the results in a pub, many of which are staying open overnight.
"I'm going to sit with a beer in my hand watching the results coming in," Roberts said.
But financial consultant Michael MacPhee, a No voter, said he would observe the returns coming in "with anxiety."
He said Scottish independence was "the daftest idea I've ever heard."

Well, I hold a contrary view and looks forward to the emergence of the world's new state. Just like the american elections, I will keep another late night, here in 9ja, to watch the results as they reel in!

Jokes EtcMad Man Texting (with Pics) by ulster(op):
Took this picture on my way home yesternight.....a supposedly mad man texting! I began to wonder if he is truly mad or an economic driven homeless destitute.

If he is mad, who is he texting, where does he charge his phone, why are his contacts not supporting him? Those questions continue to bother me and fill my mind since last night after I took the shots!

What do you think?

Yaksson: How will u know u are buying the correct thinghuh
well my peeps u knw an alcohol if u put a little of it on Ur watch. or any glass. it will take a few mins before it vaporize. the higher its concentration the higher the rate of vaporization. so 99% alcohol vaporizes readily due to its low melting point. again u hold a small table water in Ur drinking bottle, pour a little of the alcohol in a little if the water, if it is a real one, the temperature of the mixture will increase, I.e u will feel the bottle getting a bit warm.
thanks for the clarification!

phreakabit: In the absence of raw ethanol would using ethanol based alcoholic products be an option?
using an ethanol based product will reduce the composition of the ethanol, chemically, the covalent bond binding hydroxyl group to carbon might be broken during the formulation of the ethanol based product, meaning that it is no longer a potent ethyl alcohol, thereby reducing the active ingredient in the home made sanitiser. I would strongly suggest that you use raw ethanol........well distilled local gin- ogogoro could be a good substitute!

RomanceRe: Some Very Silly Things Girls Should Stop Doing by ulster: 10:06pm On Sep 03, 2014
handysuzy: Call it a counter thread if you must

I just don't know why many of us indulge in these irritating behaviors

1. Asking a guy you just met for recharge card
This is very annoying. It makes you look cheap. A guy met you in the afternoon, gave you a call in the evening and you are already asking
him to send you a recharge card. Trust me, that guy can never respect you. He might eventually send you the recharge card, but the only thing on his mind would be to sleep with you once or twice and get rid of you.

2. Judging a guy by his looks
I believe guys should be the ones that should be hell bent on beauty and physical appearance. Dont fall for a guy chiefly because he looks good physically. You need to access his acumen, sense of judgment, level-headedness, dreams etc. What makes a good guy is by far more than just looks.

3. Having sex with a guy the day you met him
This is uncalled for. You automatically lose some respect if you allow this guy to get down with you the first day you met him. Little kisses here and there and some cuddling would do, if you are tempted, let him feel your boobs just to get yourself wet. The longer you make a guy wait, the more he will appreciate you and value your body. No one values what he gets easily.

4. Pouting of lips to take a selfie
Do we have to do this? Its so disgusting. Okay fine, I am guilty of this too and am going to stop. Every picture of a girl on facebook shows her pouting her lips to look pretty. This doesn't make us look prettier; it only make us look childish. I didnt realise it makes me look like a kid until my boyfriend told me 5 days ago.

5. Manipulating a guy to over spend for you on a date.
Because he looks rich and came to the eatery in a car makes you feel you can drain his pocket abi. This instantaneously tells the guy that you are a hungry girl and from a very poor background. Cant you just order for just one ice cream or a soft drink and be fine with this cool dude. Even if you do not like him, do not do this. Trust me, the guy will never call you again and if he does he only wants to get laid just once. The worst is taking your friend along so that you can both finish him.

6. Forcing yourself on a guy that doesn't give a damn about you
If a guy likes you, he will show it. Dont you ever force yourself on a guy. You can indicate some green lights but don't force yourself on him. If you do he will treat you like shit. I have read some post here on Nairaland telling girls how to woo a guy. Dont try it. There are a million subtle ways to make him see that you like him than forcing yourself on him and asking him out outrightly.

7. Keeping too many boyfriends
Cant we just be cool with one guy we love? 8 boyfriends equals to 8 dicks. Jesus Christ! How many guys are combing you?

8. Excessive Make Up
Excessive make up make us look like masquerades, ojuju calabar like Tiwa Savage. Trust me, guys dont like girls with excessive make-ups. I have heard guys say it more than a thousand times how much they hate excessive make up on ladies. Look natural and if you must apply make ups, make it very lite.
You nailed it.......thanks. E

Mutuwa: True, coz we lack creativity and have alot of frustrations in our art and literature forcing us to imbibe a foreign norm.
the other point to be made is that the white wedding is now considered as the authentic or main wedding.....if you have complete the traditional aspects with all obligations fulfilled, you are still considered as 'not married' except the white wedding is done. This stance creates room for more spending and you hear people saying, i did traditional, court and white wedding......three weddings all to satisfy the society!

Iolite: Is the Aloe vera compulsory? Cos I can't stand the taste if my hands get close to my lips.
It is optional, although it has antibacterial and antifungal properties, and it also does double duty as a moisturizer, keeping your hands soft and safe from getting dried out.

In this ebola season where cost of hand-sanitisers have literally trebled and the composition of these hand-sanitisers are in doubt, why not make your own home-made hand sanitizer from ingredients you select. This is an excellent project for kids, now that schools are not resuming soon and you'll save money, protect yourself from germs, and can customize the scent of the hand sanitizer, and be sure of the composition of the hand sanitisers you are using this period. It is not rocket science but simple chemistry, so lets go:?

2/3 cup 99% rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) or ethanol
1/3 cup aloe vera gel
8-10 drops essential oil, optional (such as lavendar, tea-tree, vanilla, peppermint, grapefruit)
bowl and spoon
funnel
recycled liquid soap or hand sanitizer bottle

Nothing could be easier! Simply mix the ingredients together and then use the funnel to pour them into the bottle. Screw the pump back onto the bottle and you're ready to go.

Wash your hands regularly with soap, apply your home made hand-sanitiser and put your trust in Jesus and be ebola free!
God bless wink

urhoboman: "HER CHURCH"huh That would be the problm. I believe u will do same for a lady. I don't have a church I call "my church". Evry sunday I do attend any church that comes to mind, at timez I do get invite from frndz to attend their church, nd I will attend the same church for like 3 to 4timez, itz the same God I went there to pray to. If at the point of getting ready 4 marriage my lady suggest to get it done in her church I won't mind bt glady accept, but if she INSIST itz her church alone or else she can't marry me. To hell with her. It amazes me how/why a pastor would brainwash hez/her members to that extent.
