PoliticsRe: Why I Dumped APC - Gov. Amaechi's Deputy by ulster(op): 9:39am On Mar 23, 2015
ulster:
The Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Tele Ikuru, has given reasons for dumping the All Progressives Congress to join the Peoples Democratic Party, saying the APC is of rebels, insurgents and anarchists.
PREMIUM TIMES had earlier reported the news of Mr. Ikulu’s decision to return to the PDP in a move that is considered a betrayal of his boss and friend, Governor Rotimi Amaechi.
Mr. Ikuru, who was one of Governor Amaechi’s major ally, is said to have announced his defection in Port Harcourt, the state capital on Sunday.
The decampee was first elected deputy governor to Celestine Omehia in 2007, before the duo was removed by the Supreme Court less than six months in office. When Mr. Amaechi was sworn in as governor, he retained Mr. Ikuru as his deputy and the duo fought against the interests and allies of the former governor of the state, Peter Odili.
At the time Mr. Amaechi fell out with the leadership of the PDP and defected to the APC with majority of his aides, Mr. Ikuru remained loyal to the governor and fought on the same side.
But in his formal defection statement titled, “A call on the Conscience of the People of Rivers State,” Mr. Ikulu said he is compeled to address the people out of the fullness of heart.
Recalling events in December 2013, he said he, alongside other disillusioned people of the state, joined the APC out of extreme loyalty to his friend and boss, Mr. Amaechi.
“Ever since, as the true nature and motives of APC are unveiled, I have continued to twist and turn in extreme mental and emotional agony. The more I struggle to belong, the more the Rivers man in me rejects the APC,” Mr. Ikuru said.
“After carefully studying, interacting and analyzing the leadership of the party, I have come to the sad conclusion that the APC is a party of rebels, insurgents and anarchists, clothed in robes of pretense and deceit. APC is a party founded on deception and it thrives on unholy propaganda and falsehood.”
Based on these, Mr. Ikuru said he and his supporters have decided to denounce the APC and have jointly and severally resigned their membership of the party.
“My dear people of Rivers State,” the deputy governor continued, “we of this generation will not in good conscience expect forgiveness and compassion from our forebears, posterity, and the spirit of our unborn generations if it is recorded in the annals of history that after 48 years of Rivers people supporting leaders from all other parts of this country with our votes and resources, we were the same that witch hunted and hounded down the very first ever President from this region, granted us by providence. I wash my hands off this treachery.”
He, therefore, urged his supporters and the people of the state to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP gubernatorial candidate in the state, Nyesom Wike.
But in a swift response, Mr. Amaechi said he only received news of his deputy’s resignation from the APC on Sunday evening.
Mr. Amaechi, who spoke through the state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Ibim Semenitari, said Mr. Ikuru’s resignation remains unofficial since he is yet to notify his principal of the move.
While wishing his estranged deputy all the best in his future political endeavour, Mr. amaechi noted that the reasons adduced by Mr. Ikuru for dumping the APC are shocking.
“Deputy Governor lkuru has consistently been the one driving political activities in his local government area of Andoni,” Mr. Amaechi said.
“He has also been the second in command driving politics and governance in Rivers State.
On a personal note, Governor Amaechi has accorded Engr Ikuru all the privileges and respect due the office of the deputy governor and has treated him with love as a friend and brother.
“Though the governor had hoped that the numerous rumours of Engr Ikuru’s double-faced membership of the APC and open romance with the PDP were not true, he however appreciates the fact that every individual has a right to pursue his political dreams, as he deems most appropriate.”
Mr. Amaechi said it is regrettable that Mr. Ikuru has chosen the dishonourable path of bare faced lies and name-calling rather than the more honourable path of simply retracing his steps to where he has always been.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Job Offer And I'm About Going For NYSC: What Do I Do? by ulster: 1:02pm On Mar 05, 2015
samuelson06:
Bro, don't say it'll be difficult to withdraw it. I know that depends on the organization but they can see you as trying to use them and hence resist you except you resign. Like my organization, you can't leave for more than a week let alone 3 weeks camping. For me, I have decided not to serve again because I'm in the same shoe with that guy. I don't want problem with the organization in future and I hope to grow with them. So many organizations don't tolerate you leave for long.
I didnt say he sholud skip work and come back after three weeks or so, thats un-authorised absence and its a grave sin in employment! what i adviced was take the offer and accept it first, then go back and inform the HR via the supposed supervisor that actually, i am still serving...hope this doesnt dim my chances etc.....
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Job Offer And I'm About Going For NYSC: What Do I Do? by ulster: 11:44am On Mar 03, 2015
johnbimbo12:
Hello house,

I'm in a fix and I need your advice.

I did my IT (Industrial Training) two years ago in an oil company in Port Harcourt, spent 8 months there. Now I'm a B.Tech graduate, going to serve with 2015 batch A of NYSC.

This evening I read a message from my supervisor (back then at the company) that there's an opening in the office that she's about discussing with the division manager to fill me in. She's aware I'm a graduate now, but she doesn't know of my NYSC status (yet).

The opening is actually by July 2015, of which NYSC camp starts on May 5.

The reason she prefers me is because of my experience with the company, even as an IT student back then. A friend of mine that we did internship together in the company is already working there now, and the pay is well into the six figures arena.

The company, from what I've discovered when I was with them, actually prefers employing people that have worked with them in one capacity or the other before, that's why my friend could easily fill in (with just ND, he's even yet to do his HND). And that's also the reason my supervisor wants me there.

I'd initially decided I won't influence my posting, but even if I do, what are the chances that my PPA will be that company? (I'm quite aware Rivers state corps members are majorly deployed to schools though).

I'm yet to discuss this issue with my supervisor, cos I don't have a perfect explanation yet.

What do you think I can do? Should I just say no? If I do, I stand the chance of entering their 'black book'. This company doesn't enjoy people turning down their offers (From experience), hence, they might not accept you in the future even if you apply for a job telling them you've worked with them before.

Mature and practicable advice please. Thanks in anticipation.
Similar case in my time. What I did, was allow the recruitment process to go on, took the offer and mentioned that I am still a corper. What it did was i had a contract with the firm-then Prudent Bank. The offer was made in Nov, but i didnt resume till march the next year. So let your former boss that I keen on taking up employments options with the coy, collect and accept your offer from HR and then go back to your boss to inform her that you will be proceeding to do your NYSC, once the offer has been made and accepted, it will be difficult to withdraw it.
God Bless!

PoliticsElection 2015 Saga: Rivers State PDP Office Set Ablaze by ulster(op): 12:58pm On Oct 31, 2014
Reports this morning states that the Rivers State PDP Office has been set ablaze by unknown youths this morning.
The state Chairman of the party, Mr Felix Obuah who spoke on the incident blamed it on those whom he alleged did not want the party ward congress slated for tomorrow to hold.
It is not clear if he referred to the opposition parties in the state or opposition within the party. The PDP has been enmeshed in internal crisis in the last four months with some of the party members calling for the dissolution of the state leadership on the ground that it is allegedly acting the script of the former Minister of State for Education, Mr Nyesom Wike, an allegation the party leadership had continued to deny. On his part, Wike who is also contesting for the party’s ticket for the next governorship election also dismissed the allegation as false.
Meantime, about fifteen governorship aspirants of the party Thursday called on the national leadership of the party to ensure the governorship ticket did not go to an Ikwerre man, apparently referring to Nr Wike who is from Ikwerre. According to them it would amount to injustice if another Ikwerre man succeeded governor Chibuike Amaechi who is from Ikwerre.
Some of them also accused the state leadership of the party of moving to install Wike as the party’s candidate.
The state Chairman of the party, Mr Obua said the congress would still go ahead inspite of the protest and complaints

cool Angelica Rivera
On the bottom of our list is Mexico’s current First Lady, Angelica Rivera, She was previously a star on the Spanish network Telenovela.

By the time she took up residence in Mexico’s White House she was prepared to be in the public eye as the wife of President Enrique Pena Nieto. Two years after their 2010 wedding he was elected as Mexico’s President. Now that she has become a political figure Angelica Rivera traded her curly hair style in for a more sophisticated style. Her wardrobe went from revealing to chic, featuring sheath dresses and modest suits. Even her wedding gown was a modest style; it included a full train and a high collar.

Well done Angelica for the sudden transformation with regards she wardrobes!

6) Michelle Obama
Here comes our own Afro-descent gazelle Michelle, U.S. President Barack Obama’s wife.

She is also among the world’s most beautiful first ladies. She has been making headlines for her beauty since her husband became the Commander – In – Chief of the United States. Her beauty combined with her strong yet caring personality explains her self-assuredness. Mrs. Obama has also been recognized as one of the world’s 100 most beautiful people. Popular opinion is that of all the first ladies of the U.S. Mrs. Obama comes in second only to Jacqueline Kennedy (JFK's widow) when it comes to beauty.

Michelle Obama is known for fashions such as the sleeveless gowns that show off her smooth and toned arms. She has also received a lot of attention for the silk coat by Thom Browne that she wore to mark the second inauguration of President Obama. As someone who frequently appears in public wearing clothes designed in the U.S, Michelle Obama has made quite a splash on the world that other first ladies haven’t. Unlike the majority of first ladies, Michelle Obama often chooses clothes that the average American can afford. This is one of the reasons so many people like her more than any other first lady in the past. The average woman in America admires Michelle Obama’s style.

My best shot of her includes those taken at a State banquet in Buckingham Palace with HRM The Queen of England. One minute let me dig up that shot. in the interim,
