The fact the batteries were still live amused me. Even at age grand, step Mom had retained a healthy sexuality. As I returned the Love Machine to its proper place, I found yet another diary buried beneath the heaps of panties.

I thumbed through the first book which held many relatively short entries interspersed with longer, more detailed personal entries back over the years.

As I read a few passages about my father and step Mom's courting days, I felt as if I were prying, and closed the book. The second volume began shortly after the funeral and I was more comfortable reading it.

Brief notes about finding the job, feelings expressed loneliness. There were comments about me. The fun we had at an amusement park. I won second in a tennis tournament at camp, growing up fast. I smiled at the prideful comments of a step Mom.

Then I stopped short.

"Maybe we have to stop baths together ... soon ... But not yet." A cryptic comment full of electricity. I would have been eleven, I noticed by the date on the entry. I lay back on the bed and thought about it.

"Come on, big boy, let's take our shower!"

We raced upstairs, laughing and stumbling.

At the bathroom door, I threw off my clothes and turned to watch her stepping out of high heels at the door of her closet. She hung up the blue suit jacket and the light behind her silhouetted her breasts through a plain white silk blouse.

The snap at her hip was loosened and the skirt fell to the floor and I watched as she retrieved it and hung it in the closet.

The blouse followed and she was standing in a full white slip with lace at the top and bottom. I think it was that step Mummy when I fell completely in love with my step Mom. I mean not like step Momly love. I mean full blown love.

I just adored the creamy softness that she had standing in that pretty slip with dark bands of stockings barely visible. She unsnapped the garters through the slip and the perfection of her legs was spoiled by the slumping nylons as they slithered part way down her legs.

"Do you mind?" she giggled, turning to me. "Can I have a little privacy, here?" she laughed and shooed me into the bathroom. "Get the water ready, young man!"

I dragged my eyes away and soon the steam was rolling from the shower stall. I waited in the rising steam, writing my name on the glass over and over until the door opened and the lower half of my step Mom appeared.

It was gathered by , that the suspected kidnappers, armed with assorted guns, attacked and abducted some travellers who they took into the bush.

However, the local vigilante group got wind of the kidnapping incident, mobilised and waylaid the suspects in the bush, Reports.

It was learnt that the locals, who had been angered by the spate of kidnapping in the area, forcefully snatched the suspects from the vigilantes as they were taking them to the police station, and set them ablaze.

"The kidnappers would have been contacting the families of the abducted travellers to ask for ransom if not for the bravery of the vigilantes while locals who were fed up with the criminal activities of these kidnappers set them on fire and left to die,” a source told .

Confirming the incident to News Crew, spokesperson of the Edo State Police Command, Kontongs Bello, said that investigation was ongoing.

"After the kidnap, the vigilantes went in search of the criminals who they apprehended in the bush. As they were coming out in Uokha Community on their way to the police station, angry youths in Uokha and adjoining towns took away the suspected kidnappers from the vigilantes. All efforts to get the suspects to the police proved abortive as they were burnt to death. The investigation is ongoing,” he added.

Her cotton shorts were of the kind that a man would wish to smoothen with his hands. Now, I could see that the top had the words, 'Honey Girl' written across it.

She should be busty; the big swelling on her chest amply suggested this.

"I think I really like the taste of the wine,' she said, gulping down the drink.

"Hey, be careful. It can get you intoxicated. Just be careful," I warned. "The drink has quite a punch."

She giggled. "Alright, I understand what you mean perfectly."

We talked of easy things as we sat there: her studies at the university, her plans to how she could secure a good, and stuff like that.

Gradually, as the drinks went into our stomachs, some awkwardness melted away. She seemed to very much relax now. Looking so cool and innocent, she gulped the rest of the drink in her glass down.

"Can I have another one?" she asked.

My own glass was empty by this moment and I could already feel the warmth in my empty stomach, the swimming in my head, as the triple shot coursed through my system.

My better judgment, which was usually quite sound, had taken a hit as well since serving her another drink didn't seem like a bad idea at all.

I grinned at her. "Sure," I told her, standing up and grabbing both glasses. "Another round, coming up." I began as I poured the drinks into the glasses. "There is one aspect you've not told me about. You've not told me about your boyfriend."

"Boyfriend?" She asked as if the question was out of place.

I nodded. I handed he glass to her.

"Well, let's just say I'm concentrating on my studies for now. I have no boyfriend."

That was hard to believe and I was certainly not going to believe that.

"Hmmm," I said thoughtfully, a slight gleam returning to my eyes, a gleam that seemed to be directed at her this time.

"That is very interesting. So, all you do is read and study over there?"

Without hesitation, she nodded. "And apart from that, I also think a lot of those guys are just loafers - bunch of unserious guys that it is better I do without."

She smiled wryly. "Some guys are just a bunch of assholes. Sorry about my saying that."

"You're excused," I said. "And you're right. A lot of us guys could be assholes." That would include me, I thought grimly.

A giggle came from her. "No, guys like you are different, from what I could see. In fact, you're very sweet. When I finally find the right guy, I think I will like him to be someone just like you."

"A lonely lawyer with two kids?"

She giggled again. "It does not matter if he's a lawyer or not. I want a nice guy. A guy who knows how to listen." She downed the rest of her drink. "One more?" she asked.

"Okay," I told her, taking her glass. "But that's it. You drink any more after that and you'll be smashed. I don't really want to explain to your mummy how you got smashed at my house."

"One more," she agreed. "And I promise I won't ask for more."

I gave her a fresh drink and, even though my own was still half full, I refreshed it as well. When I sat down on the couch I saw that Kate had turned towards me a little more, which served to open up the view of the hem of her shorts again.

It was even higher than it had been before, not quite high enough to get a peak at her panties, but up there.
