Politics / Diezani, PDP And The Price Of Impunity by umoetteumoh: 9:04am On Nov 19, 2015
The raid on a luxury home in London and detention of Diezani Alison-Madueke, Nigerian’s ex-minister of Petroleum and one of the oil amazons and influencers in Jonathan’s administration on October 2, 2015 by London Police on money laundering and corruption charges is a practical and undeniable exposure on the level of criminality and corruption perpetrated against Nigerians by some of the public office holders in the last PDP led government.
Most startling to Nigerians is not merely the level and amount of resources wasted and stolen, but more despicable and impulsive is the level of impunity and manner at which majority of the public office holders in the Jonathan administration carried out such indecency and anomalies against their country and her citizens.
The level of impunity, carelessness, free looting of national treasury, misappropriation of public funds, institutional decay, lack of respect and value for Nigerians, arrogantly and publicly displayed by the top guns of the last PDP led administration cannot be over emphasized.
It is not propaganda that the ongoing money laundering and corruption charges against the Diezani in London will be a mere tip of an iceberg compared to the damage done to this country and her citizens in the last 8 years.
It is worthy of note that the deep injury inflicted on the Nigeria socio-economic and political system, no doubt requires a timely application of advanced, reliable and appropriate medication. The hostile and irresponsible platforms instituted by the past regimes need to be systematically dismantled in all ramifications to give way for the nation’s genuine movement to greatness.
The emergence of the new sheriff and reformed democrat (Muhammadu Buhari) as the newly democratically elected president of Nigeria gave a huge sigh of relief and optimism to well meaning and teeming Nigerians, shows of God’s grace and march towards a new dawn. It was also greeted with fear, applaud and excitement by various categories of individuals/ persons and groups.
As the corrupt past and present public office holders are gripped with fear of consequences of their indecent and corrupt practices, applaud were accorded to the foot soldiers and heroes of change while excitement befell majority of Nigerians who have for long been praying and clamouring for positive change that will usher in pragmatic and proactive measures on the war against the endemic diseases of corruption, insecurity/insurgency and unemployment.
Taking cognizance of the fact the new leader with commitment to the rule of law, capacity to weather the storm, some groups/persons, particularly the opposition PDP have become critical of Mr. president’s categorical and strong worded statement that the fight against corruption and indiscipline must get to a logical conclusion. The very modest president further stated that anyone found guilty of the dangerous and deadly disease (corruption) irrespective of the person’s status, social, religious or political affiliation will face the wrath of the law.
President Buhari went further to urge Nigerians not to exercise any fears, but rather people should fear the consequences of their action.
Without mincing words President Buhari has in no small measure shown commitment to the rule of law, transparency, purposefulness and simplicity in the handling of government affairs. His tenacity and zeal to wipe out corruption, strengthen the nation, revamp the economy, clean the huge rot his administration inherited as well as his diplomatic shuttles to reposition Nigeria’s image and values within the comity of nations are pointers to Buhari’s purposefulness which without contention deserves applaud, encouragement, and support.
The achievements so far recorded by this administration in power sector, anti-corruption, security and firm promises to wipe out Boko Haram/ insurgency by the end of the year has hugely rekindled the confidence and believes by international community on Nigeria’s ability and readiness to offer /provide conducive investment environment, secure and profitable international business relations.

Politics / $31m Probe: Oshiomhole Is A Drowning Man – Igbinedion by umoetteumoh: 6:20am On Nov 07, 2015
Former Edo State governor, Lucky Igbinedion, has replied his successor, Adams Oshiomhole, on allegations of diverting $31 million meant to build a cement factory in the state during his administration.
Igbinedion was governor of the state from 1999 to 2003.
On Wednesday, the Edo State Government, through the Commissioner for Information, Loius Odion, said an investigation would be launched on the alleged missing funds and has directed the Attorney General to commence legal action.
“I feel joining issues with Oshiomhole would amount to dignifying him and his outbursts and lending credence to his bogus allegations…
“On the AVA Cement Company, for that is the true name of the company they are referring to, Oshiomhole claimed that I used Edo State $31 million to execute the project to about 90 percent…As at 2006 when the AVA Cement Company project kicked off, the exchange rate for a dollar was about N100/$1 hence, $31 million then amounted to about N3 billion.
“So, if Edo State Government invested N3 billion for a project that gulped well over N20 billion, the question is; where did the balance of N17 billion come from?”
Meanwhile, Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said yesterday in Benin that moves by the state government to recover $31million alleged to have been fraudulently taken from the state’s coffers by the government of former governor Lucky Igbinedion, smacks of political desperation and persecution.
Speaking through the state Publicity Secretary, Chris Nehikhare, at a press briefing yesterday, the party said it was shameful and disgraceful that “it took the Oshiomhole administration seven years to wake up from its slumber to begin what is clearly a case of political witch-hunting.”
It pointed out that instead of facing the challenges of the state in form of dilapidated roads, corruption, flood and others, Oshiomhole was plotting how “to perpetuate himself in office by installing his lackey as successor.”

Politics / Buhari’s ‘noisemakers’ Are Here by umoetteumoh: 11:26am On Nov 05, 2015
The clearest hunch that the March 28, 2015 election victory may have taken President Muhammadu Buhari by surprise can be felt in his dreary and befuddling handling of issues of governance so far.
Nigerians expected a swifter and pragmatic start of the administration than what they have been witnessing in the last six months. Those who imagined quick action from Buhari have strong reasons why they should hold such position, why not, this is a 72-year-old man coming with the experience of being a former Head of State and who indeed had contested for the Presidential position thrice before getting through on the fourth. But frankly speaking, Nigerians, including great admirers of the President are wondering if really their judgement of him was right.
The President himself has often acknowledged the frustration of the people on his style when he said ‘they say am baba go slow, but to me is better to go slow and get it right’ But the apprehension is not only on the snail speed of the President, the real fear is the pointer that the slow mover is perhaps headed to the wrong direction.
The framers of the 1999 constitution, the operational guide for this power game called democracy provided for a reasonable period of time after election victory and before takeoff for two main reasons. One, to enable possible litigations to be exhausted, and two to give ample time for the victor to prepare for the immediate ascent of his government upon being sworn into power.
The usual litigation that usually distracts new governments was never in existence as former President Goodluck Jonathan solved that aspect in that historic April 1st call to President Buhari, acknowledging his defeat.
From April 1 to May 29, when this government was inaugurated, President Buhari had two full months within which to prepare and form a government, an opportunity he never took.
Soon after his inauguration President Buhari rushed to the then outgoing 7th National Assembly to secure approval for the appointment of 15 Advisers which was quickly okayed for him by the outgoing PDPled parliament. Expectedly, political watchers thought that a President in a hurry had arrived the scene. Six months after, only three of the 15 positions, Media and Publicity, Security and National Assembly Adviser positions have been filled with twelve still outstanding, apparently for want of saints to occupy it. Pundits have been at a loss why he rushed to the former assembly, when there was no urgency in his style of governance.
For the ministers that required confirmation from the Senate, it took him five months to find one person from each of the 36 states of the federation and since this is an era of slow speed, it took another one month for the equally embattled Senate to screen and confirm them.
From all indications swearing them in and assigning of portfolio is likely to take another one week or more as the Presidential spokesman told anxious newsmen that they may have to wait yet again as only ‘baba go slow’ can fix the swearing in date. In all these, one thing you must not take away from President Buhari is the fact that he is not a pretentious person. Reading his body language is usually not difficult as he often makes pronouncements that give him away.
He has never hidden his disdain for politicians and the fact remains clear that if he had his way, he would have preferred to run a government without them. Recall that he was short of saying ‘I don’t need them’ when he told France 24 international Radio station recently that he wondered the hullabaloo about the delay in appointing ministers, who to him do not do much and what you miss in their absence is usually their noise.
Under Buhari controlled system therefore, these 36 Nigerians just confirmed for ministerial position should owe their new job to the constitution that made the existence of “noisemakers” in government mandatory, otherwise this President would not have needed them.
For the geo-political region like the South East that is clearly lost in the appointment radar of President Buhari, apparently due to the so called 97 per cent political reality, they should thank the constitution.

Politics / Amaechi: PDP Senators Reject Thursday’s Votes And Proceedings by umoetteumoh: 9:51am On Nov 04, 2015
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Senators rejected Thursday’s votes and proceedings held for the confirmation of former Gov. Rotimi Ameachi and 17 others.
Although the Senate adopted the votes and proceedings, the PDP senators were firm in their dissent.
When the President of the senate posed the question for the adoption of the proceedings, the APC senators answered in the affirmative while the PDP senators chorused a loud `nay’.
However, Senate President Bukola Saraki went ahead to hit the gavel in favour of the affirmative and as such, validated the votes and proceedings of the senate for that day.
The plenary was dedicated to confirmation of the appointment of former Rivers State Gov. Rotimi Amaechi and 17 other ministerial nominees
The PDP senators, led by the Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio had vehemently moved to reject the confirmation of the former governor.
They had insisted that a committee report on the alleged corruption petition against Amaechi be considered by the Senate to determine whether or not to confirm him.
While the APC Senators rejected the recommendation of the committee that the nominee’s screening should not be entertained due to a pending court case, the PDP senators supported the recommendation.

Politics / Lagos Moves To Intensify Security Surveillance Across Metropolis by umoetteumoh: 9:03pm On Nov 03, 2015
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, on Tuesday presided over the State Security Council meeting with an assurance to the people of the state that the government will increase security surveillance across the metropolis and continuously raid identified hideouts of criminals.
Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, who spoke to Government House Correspondents shortly after the meeting which lasted for over three hours, said the Council deliberated on the margin of security challenges and trends confronting the state and the strategies to address them especially as the festive period approaches.
He added that the Council also reviewed the security architecture of the state and resolved to improve on the strategies and techniques to wage war against all forms of criminal activities, especially traffic robberies.
“We looked again at the margin of security challenges and trends that we are facing in Lagos and the need to rededicate ourselves.”
“The Council also came up with the need for us to re-commit our personnel to addressing these challenges with a view to ensuring that as we approach the yuletide, the Christmas period, we would be able to at least reduce the crimes and criminalities in the state to the bearest minimum and to reassure our people in Lagos that the government is committed to their safety,” he said.
The Police boss said the Council also appraised the activities of the security agencies and came to a conclusion that within the past few days, there has been a reduction in some of these incidents.

Politics / 2019 Zoning: We Will Never Support PDP Again – Igbo Forum by umoetteumoh: 11:23am On Oct 17, 2015
A South-East socio-political organization, Njiko Igbo Forum, has described the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, leaders as cowards and bunch of ingrates.
Reacting to PDP’s zoning of its 2019 presidential ticket to the North, the Forum said it was a height of ingratitude to deny the South-East the presidential ticket despite getting block votes from the zone in 2015.
In a communique issued after its emergency meeting in Enugu, signed by its President, Rev. Okechukwu Obioha, the group said, “we consider the recommendation of Senator Ike Ekweremadu’s PDP committee and subsequent approval of PDP’s NWC that 2019 presidential candidate of the party will come from the North as an act of cowardice to electoral victory and ingratitude to Ndigbo.
“What this hasty declaration and politicking means is that if PDP wins in 2019, her candidate (a Northerner) will seek a second term constitutional provision; if the APC wins again in 2019, they will return the Presidency to the S/West and thereby elongating the chances of the South-East to the Presidency of this country-Nigeria.
“This is unacceptable to say the least. Njiko Igbo will intensify her efforts in making sure that any organized and coordinated party that puts up an Igbo as presidential candidate, will have our support.
“We will rather be in opposition than sale our birthright. After all, the S/West had stayed in the opposition for many years now and they are where they are today. Since PDP is hasty and selfish in starting the politics of 2019 Presidency now, Njiko Igbo will be hasty to let them know that we deliberately made a statement in 2015 general elections without apologies, and will repeat this feat in 2019 by rejecting them.
“We are a major partner in this project called Nigeria. We will never support PDP and will vote against her come 2019. We call on all patriotic Onye Igbo in PDP to begin to address their minds come 2019 that PDP will not have the blessing of Ndigbo as far as the Presidency is concerned. We are not visitors in this country-Nigeria.”
The Forum, which is an affiliate of Ohanaeze Ndigbo added that “we express our disappointment on our own Sen Ike Ekweremadu on chairing the committee that did that recommendation in the first instance. He should look for an appropriate fora to apologize for that unpatriotic show.
“We reiterate that Njiko Igbo Forum has no regret for joining forces to vote down APC in the general elections of 2015 especially the Presidency. because we wanted to make a statement. This is why we are not and will not complain of the divisionary tendencies President Mohammed Buhari has shown so far concerning Ndigbo in the running of his government, vis avis every of his appointments made and his support and calculated attempt to have Ndigbo absent in the three tiers of government. It is been very remarkable! This is why we make bold to say that no further appointments will assuage us from believing that we are part of this government.
“We request President Muhammadu Buhari as our Commander in Chief to tread and treat with caution the harassment and arrests of Igbo Indigenes by several security agencies in the guise that they are clamouring for Biafra. The other day, Yoruba Elders openly threatened to secede and declared a war against the Fulani Herdsmen, and nothing has happened to them.
“Yes, Ndigbo may have been defeated in war as declared by Junaid Mohammed and Arewa Consultative Assembly, but we are not vanquished in any way at all. We hold the ace and the scepter of this country. This is a proven fact!”

Politics / Jonathan Was A Victim Of Power Game, Vicious Propaganda – Abati by umoetteumoh: 1:57pm On Oct 16, 2015
Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s senior adviser on media, Dr. Reuben Abati, has dismissed the widespread view that the former president lost the last election because of incompetence and cluelessness.
Abati said in his first major interview in the October/November edition of The Interview, that Jonathan was “a victim of power game” and the vicious propaganda of the opposition.
He said, “All they could focus on was trying to discredit the president. They called him clueless; they said he was incompetent; they said he was a drunkard!”
In a separate interview also featured in the coming edition of The Interview, Mr. Femi Adesina, the senior adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity, expressed a different view.
Adesina said he knew that Jonathan would lose and was not surprised when it happened.
“If Jonathan had won the election, Nigeria would have shut down”, he said, adding that the government had run out of steam.
Abati spoke on the last days of Jonathan in the Aso Rock Villa, his own controversial retraction of the article against Buhari, the attitude of the moneybags who abandoned Jonathan in his moment of need, his relationship with former first lady, Patience Jonathan, and his love-hate drama with many of his passionate fans.
Adesina was no less forthright. He spoke on Buhari’s style, the war on corruption and Boko Haram, the CBN’s policy of defending the naira, and his relationship with the president.
The edition, which promises to keep the reader on the edge of their seats, also contains interviews with the incoming vice chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Abel Olayinka; a conversation with Corps Marshal Boboye Oyeyemi; and an insight by social entrepreneur, Chude Jideonwu on how Red Media Africa ran Buhari’s election campaign.

Politics / Amaechi’s Ministerial Screening Splits Senate Panel by umoetteumoh: 1:39pm On Oct 16, 2015
The Senate appears to be finding ministerial nominee Rotimi Amaechi’s case a hard nut to crack, as its Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions for the umpteenth time, could not sit to consider the petition against him.
However, the panel chairman, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, said there was no cause for alarm, dismissing allegations of a crack in their rank, even when sources said that the committee has been unable to write its report because it could not form a quorum.
It has not been able to sit in the past three days despite being asked to hasten action on the petition by Senate President Bukola Saraki.
On Tuesday, Saraki mandated the committee to ensure that its report was ready for consideration on Wednesday.
He asked the committee to speed up after Anyanwu told the Senate that the report was not ready.
But the panel submitted its report on another nominee, Amina Mohammed, who was among the 18 cleared on Wednesday.
The panel could still not submit its report on Amaechi on Wednesday, leading to the dropping of the former Rivers State governor from the list of those screened.
The panel consequently scheduled a meeting for 2pm on Wednesday but only Anyanwu and Senator Obinna Ogba (Ebonyi Central) turned up. The development has increased talks of a division among members.
Sources said there was a plot to sabotage Amaechi’s screening by some interested parties to orchestrate his withdrawal by President Muhammadu Buhari.
A member of the committee, who did not want his name mentioned, said: “It seems all is not well in our committee. Some of us are not happy about certain things. We cannot just go to a meeting for going sake. But what is happening is not for the media please, I beg you.”
Another member said: “No comment. I am not the spokesman of the committee. Go and meet the chairman if you want any information about the Ethics Committee.”
But Anyanwu, who is worried about the panel’s inability to submit its report, said he had carried every member along.
The Imo State-born lawmaker said he had demonstrated “a high level of openness and transparency in the affairs of the committee”.
There was no indication of when the committee will meet to write its report when the Senate adjourned plenary yesterday.
Saraki also did not mention the petition against Amaechi at the session.
When Amaechi appeared before the committee on October 12, the petition against him could not be considered because of his disclosure that it was a subject of litigation.
The Port Harcourt-based “The Integrity Group” petitioned the Senate asking that Amaechi should not be confirmed as a minister.
The group claimed that Amaechi mismanaged N70 billion of Rivers State funds when he was in office.
Amaechi has long dismissed the claim as part of the orchestrated campaign to smear him.
But the Chairman, Senate Ad-hoc Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Dino Melaye, Thursday raised hope of Amaechi’s screening.
“The committee has a one-line report that the matter is in court and that in compliance with our laid down rules and regulations, any case that is undergoing judicial remedy cannot be discussed.
So, we have distanced ourselves from it. The report will be presented on Tuesday by the grace of God.
“I assure Nigerians that former Governor Rotimi Amaechi by the grace of God, will be screened on Tuesday.”
According to him, the screening and confirmation of the remaining 18 ministerial nominees will hold on Tuesday and Wednesday.
“We are going to screen nine of them on Tuesday and the remaining nine on Wednesday. The confirmation of all the nominees will be taken on Wednesday.”

Politics / Why Buhari Should Not Be Petroleum Minister by umoetteumoh: 12:58pm On Oct 16, 2015
“The President of Federal Republic of Nigeria shall not, during his tenure in office, hold any other executive office or paid employment in any capacity whatsoever”- Section 138, constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999. Pursuant to the above quoted Section, the President is expressly, definitively and unambiguously disallowed from holding any other executive position throughout the duration of his presidency.
As has become a customary, albeit most offensive, feature of presidency, Muhammadu Buhari chose to formally inform his fellow citizens of his ill-advised intention to retain the coveted Petroleum Resources Ministerial portfolio while on foreign land, precisely during his recent visit to New York, in the United States of America.
Media sources have quoted the President’s Spokeperson, Mallam Garba Shehu, as citing the desire to personally superintend the restructuring of the corruption-infested petroleum industry, as the rationale for Buhari’s controversial decision.
The unstated precedence that may have encouraged President Buhari to do likewise, is the fact that former President Olusegun Obasanjo, also held on to the office of Petroleum Resources Minister throughout the latter’s tenure, from 1999 to 2007, in violation of Section 138 of Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999.
As we wait for the processing and screening of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Ministerial Nominess both the first batch and second batch by the Senate, in pursuant to Section 147(2) of the Constitution of the Feferal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, it is pertinent/important to raise a clear alarm not only about on imminent infraction, but indeed to shed more light on an ongoing illegality being perpeterated by the President for reserving the juicy position of Petroleum Minister for himself in contravention of the Section 138 of the Nigerian Consitution of 1999.
Since his assumption of office on May 29th 2015, President Muhammadu Buhari has been acting and exercising the substantive authority of the Minister of Petroleum Resources; and is likely to continue to do so till the very hour of the publication of this piece. Perhaps he may even continue to do so thereafter if he is not advised to the contrary.
Based on the foregoing, it is indisputable that Muhammadu Buhari is in ongoing violation of Section 138 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as the Nigerian believes that he is the law abiding citizen and corrupt free leader in Nigeria.
It is possible that former President Olusegun Obasanjo and incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari may have relied, or may be relying on the seemingly broad power of the office of the President, pursuant to Section 5(1)(a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 which states;
“Subject to the provisions of this Constitution, the executive powers of the Federation shall be vested on the President and may subject as aforesaid and to the provisions of law made by the National Assembly, be exercised by him either directly or through the Vice-President and Ministers of the Government of the Federation or officers in the public service of the Federation”.
However, I believe it is settled in law that where certain provisions of any grundnorm are ambiguous on a particular subject matter, the existence of any prohibitive provision effectively circumscribes and supersedes every other section which may suggest otherwise.
This means that the express prohibition provision as slated in Section 138 of the Constitution if the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 effectively precludes President Buhari from appointing himself Nigeria’s Minister of Petroleum Resources and, therefore, also not allows/disallows him from exercising the substantive power and authority of the referred executive office.
Accordingly, the widely reported speculation that the President is likely to nominate Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) as the Minister of state, Petroleum Resources, should also be reviewed and not be allowed to take place.
Going ahead with this plan is most likely to violate certain provisions of the Nigerian Petroleum Act of 1969 which clearly stated the functions of the Minister of Petroleum Resources, the Board of NNPC, the GMD of NNPC and other agencies.
Since President Buhari has an established reputation as a dogged advocate for the rule of law, I hereby invite other more learned persons and constitutional authorities to weigh in on this very important subject matter, in order to prevent the President from perpetrating a constitutional breach which, as of today has become a reference point, and is ongoing.
Nobody can convince me that in a Country of ours (Nigeria) that boasts of many leading authorities in Petroleum Resources Engineering and Administration, President Muhammadu Buhari is unable to find any competent and credible person to champion the much anticipated reforms in the petroleum industry.
Like millions of Nigerians and many well-meaning persons all over Africa and the World at large, I continue to pray that may God almighty grant President Muhammmadu Buhari and his incoming cabinet the grace and wisdom to enable them steer this nation aright. He needs our continued fervent prayers, patience, wisdom, knowledge and understanding.

Health / 50% Nigerians Unsure Of HIV Status – Group by umoetteumoh: 12:23am On Oct 16, 2015
The AIDS Health Care Foundation (AHF), an NGO, on Thursday said that about 50 per cent of Nigerians were yet to know their HIV status.
Mrs Oluwakemi Gbadamosi, the Advocacy Manager of the foundation, said this in Abuja in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Gbadamosi said the figure was worrisome because of Nigeria’s population of about 170 million people and its status as a country with the second highest burden of HIV in Africa after South Africa.
According to her, Nigeria’s current HIV testing uptake is quite low and for a country targeting 50 per-cent testing coverage, a robust community testing drive is needed to bridge the yawning gap.
Speaking on the prevalence rate, Gbadamosi said the country had 3.1 per cent prevalence, with about 3.5 million people living with the disease globally.
She said the UNAIDS in 2013 put the figures at 3.5 million people living with HIV out of which 1.6 million people required anti-retro viral drugs.
The UNAIDS, she said, puts the treatment gap at over 54 per cent, revealing that only about 673,000 persons out of those living with the disease were currently accessing treatment.
However, she urged stakeholders to put in place policies to enable more people living with the virus access treatment using anti-retroviral drugs.
According to her, there is need to increase the number of those without access to treatment to reduce AIDS-related deaths.
She said that the viral load of an AIDS patient would be reduced drastically when placed on anti-retroviral therapy consistently and correctly.
Gbadamosi added that the chances of such patient transmitting the virus would also be reduced.
“We cannot achieve an AIDS-free generation without addressing issues of treatment, testing, stigma and discrimination.
“In our foundation, we believe that treatment is very important and we have gotten to the stage globally where no one deserves to die of the virus anymore.
“We have drugs that are available globally for AIDS patients to live a healthy and productive life even while living with the virus,” she said.
Gbadamosi stressed the need for government at all levels as well as stakeholders to work together to contain the spread of the disease.
On the activities of the foundation, she said it was fully involved in the fight against HIV and AIDS globally.
According to her, the foundation is focused on treatment, prevention, and advocacy and provides free treatment option for about 7,000 PLWHA in Nigeria.
She said that the services of the foundation were being fully implemented in four states; namely Abuja, Benue, Nasarawa and Kogi.
Gbadamosi added that HIV and AIDS treatment was still a priority, stating that treatment coverage was very low.
She noted that the foundation was supporting five community-based organisations in the four states with commodities and also provides funds in the fight against HIV and AIDS.
The manager said the foundation also conducted community outreach on HIV and AIDS, counselling, testing, sensitisation and awareness campaign, as well as community dialogue which helps to address stigma and discrimination.

Phones / Apple Found Guilty Of Patent Infringement by umoetteumoh: 1:43pm On Oct 15, 2015
The Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF), which protects the University of Wisconsin’s intellectual rights and patents, just won a patent case against Apple for infringement of one of its processor patents.
The tech giant may have to cough up a whopping $862 million in damages after a Madison, Wisconsin jury decided the company’s A7, A8, and A8X processors – found in recent versions of the iPhone, as well as several iPad models – violate a patent for improving chip efficiency, Reuters reported Tuesday.
The patent at the center of the dispute was granted way back in 1998, with papers showing it was invented by a number of current and former researchers at the University of Wisconsin.

And finally the ministerial list was read on the floor of the Upper Chamber of Nigeria’s National Assembly, and in few hours the nation was under the couch, the wailing wailers and the body language experts went into over drive.
I sat back, and watched as Nigerians, who over the years have developed expertise in majoring in minors, and taking major issues with minor treaties. Showcasing interesting drama, with cast drawn from every corner, no wonder we are home to Nollywod.
TONY: So this was the list we waited for four months for, where are the saints, this list is just full of ex-this, ex-that, same people, no young person. Rubbish!
MADUKA: Very balanced list, these are technocrat, Ngige “worked” in Anambra, even so did Fashola, and Amaechi too, anybody saying otherwise is just not sincere.
AKIN: I think otherwise, how could one bring back Audu Ogbeh, a man who was minister over 30 years ago. It is equally not fair, and against the corruption mantra of this government, to bring an Amaechi, whom, a commission of inquiry in his home state has just indicted.
SOLOMON: What are we talking about, none of these men we sing moral blues about have been found wanting in any competent court of law. Audu is a simple and honest man, not a looter, one of the few ministers that was not even picked up for corruption during Buhari’s first coming
IBRAHIM: I am a party man, no apologies, what do we expect from the list, these men worked for the party and what is wrong in rewarding them, we can only expect them to deliver and they would under “mai gaskiya”.
ALIYU: Deliver what, and how; with the exception of a few, all these men have been PDP at one point or the other. Was it not that Ngige that confessed with Chris Uba that they rigged elections few years ago? And how about Dambazu who practically was amongst those that defied constitutional requirements and smuggled the late Yar’adau during those dark periods before the law of necessity.
KIKELOMO: For me, three women, no way, this is not what Buhari promised, Jonathan did better, maybe Aisha has no influence over him. I am hopefully though, that there will be women in the next batch.
TONY: Which batch, are we talking about; this list is just dancing “azonto” with common sense. I don’t see anything good from it. How, already Katsina would have two ministers.
SOLOMON: All is I see is bias, what else is performance, other than Fashola, whom at his height, the great Jagaban could not remove, or an Amaechi who against odd, stood for what he believed and fought his own to a standstill.
TONY: What bias, I even heard Fayemi of Ekiti say he was surprised, what “French” lie is that, when their CVs were collected and they were screened, what did he think, it was for?
MADUKA: Listen to yourself, if they were screened by the DSS, police etc., and not found wanting, the more reason I stand by the list, and I believe they would perform. We must give them a chance, I know that anyone that refuses to do so, will be butted out.
