Job Description

To provide on-site expertise to the worksite Management. To provide assistance in establishing and maintaining the highest standards of HSE at the worksite commensurate with Company policies.

• Continuous monitoring and review of working practices and worksite management and promotion of best practice HSE standards in compliance with the HSE reference manual;
• Provision of safety briefings to site personnel;
• Development of a framework for managing HSE compliance, aimed at managing deviations and behavioural controls;
• Provision of regular fire and safety reviews of the worksite and initiation of appropriate follow up action;
• Provision of quality assurance and control in development/review of the HSE-MS and facility Safety Cases;
• Provision of specialist advice on safety engineering services i.e. HAZOP, HAZID, FIREPRAN, QRA;
• Lead / facilitate accident investigations with appropriate record of analysis, trends, risk reduction measures and follow up;
• Maintenance of the HSE database and compliance monitoring system.
• Verification of hygiene conditions in living quarters, kitchen and mess room;
• Provision of weekly and monthly reports to the Project Management;
Qualifications

Experience Required
• Minimum 5 years experience as HSE Supervisor on EPIC Oil and Gas Construction Projects.
• Familiar with working with multinational, multicultural workforce.
• Preferably previously worked with Shell operations.
• Excellent inter-personal and leadership skills with good communications skills (i.e. report writing and presentation) are essential.
• Team player, acting as a champion to break new grounds, self-motivated, starter.

• HND or equivalent in a technical discipline.
• Conversant with Group and SPDC fire and HSE philosophy and practice.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Professionally qualified holding one of the following HSE qualifications:
• NEBOSH Diploma (U.K.)
• Diploma in Safety Management (DipSM) U.K.
• Registered Safety Practitioner (RSP) Australia, USA, Canada
• Nigerian Equivalent HSE Qualification.
• Member of the Nigerian Institute of Safety Professionals.

Skills Required
• Computer literate; skilled in Microsoft Office software and capable of being self sufficient in correspondence, documentation, generating charts and schedules etc.
• Good knowledge of International HSE legislative requirements in the Oil and Gas Construction Industry.
• Trained in conducting Risk Management techniques and applying these to the Project scope of work
• Trained in HSE Auditing techniques
• Trained in accident/incident investigation and reporting techniques e.g. Tripod Beta, TapRoot or similar.
