A Kano State-based businessman has been arrested for allegedly raping a six months old baby with the support of his wife.

A wicked man has been arrested by the Kano State Police Command for allegedly raping a 6-month-old baby girl, » with the full support of his wife who held the infant down.
According to Aishat Alubankudi, human rights activist who reported the sordid incident, the baby girl identified as Khadijah Bashir was by the man who is the husband of her mother's friend.

Alubankudi who narrated how the incident happened, said the man and his wife had been childless since they got married and in their quest for a baby, they visited a native doctor who advised the husband to sleep with a six-month-old girl for them to have kids.
So the wife went to her friend's house and took the infant on the pretext of looking after her and when she got home, she reportedly held the baby's legs for husband while he was raping her.

Alubankudi who said she has visited the baby in the hospital added that the suspect who is a very influential man has hired 10 lawyers to defend him in court.
The traumatized baby is being treated at a hospital in Kano after undergoing surgery as her parents are unable to hire any legal representative due to lack of funds.

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Kukah has described the controversial N42m tithe paid by a man into a church account in Benue state as ‘chicken feed’.
Kukah said this in an interview with PUNCH when he was asked how he felt about such an offering to the church while the society was riddled by people who lacked basic necessities of life.
He said: “This (N42m tithe) is ‘chicken feed’ compared to what contractors and businessmen and women are paying to corrupt church men, who are largely partners in crime and claim to be praying for rich people.
“So, it is important to check and cross-check your facts. You should educate us by telling us what really happened now that the right hand knows what the left is doing.”
Kukah further said the anti-corruption efforts of the Muhammadu Buhari administration lacked a clear strategy and “proper understanding of the enemy”.
The cleric added that the President was still stuck with a mindset of his military days.
The Catholic bishop maintained that he was against the metaphor of “war” as a strategy to fight corruption.
He expressed sadness that even with the metaphor that hadd been adopted by the government to tackle corruption, the desired results had not been achieved.
Kukah said it did not speak well of the government’s anti-corruption efforts when the national assembly and the executive could not agree on a pick for Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) chairman.
“It is not enough to say we will fight the corrupt, especially when the President is still stuck in a mindset of his military days, which sees corruption as something that wicked and unpatriotic politicians and office holders are doing. Still, we believe that corruption is what the political class has done,” he said.
“I was, and still am, against the lack of vision, clarity, diagnosis, strategy and intellectual depth of what we call a fight against corruption.
“Conceptually, I was and am against the idea of the metaphor of war as a strategy because once we saw it as a war, the government believed it only needed to rally its army and then go to the war front.
“Sadly, even if we took that metaphor, we were unlikely to get the desired results because this was a war without timelines, without a proper understanding of the enemy, his strength and his landscape.
“Every day, the predicament of the government is a more visible and palpable illustration that we were right all along: an assembly led by the ruling party and the President cannot agree on the choice of the chairman (of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission), the leader of this fight. What does this tell you?”
He said the EFCC should be “less preoccupied by the politics of the moment.”
“All these monies that our sensibilities are being assaulted with, what do they do to us? Are we supposed to salivate or what?
“We have been showing armed robbers on television for years. Has it reduced armed robbery?” he asked.

Apostle Johnson Suleman, General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries, has vowed not to allow allegations made against him by his alleged lover, Miss Stephanie Otobo, go unchallenged.
Apostle Suleman, who spoke to The Sun through his Media Adviser, Phrank Shaibu, dared Otobo to prove all her allegations in court.
He said: “It is not for her to probe the wisdom of the mother in going to beg for forgiveness. The mother has done what she felt was right and we have responded to the mother’s appeal for forgiveness.
“Can’t you see the contradiction in the claim of being poisoned by Apostle? First, she claimed that the poison was given to her by Apostle in a hotel. Next she said it was in a dream. Perhaps, she would come up with another bizarre tale. Seriously, even my three -year- old daughter can do better”.
On Otobo’s claims that if Apostle Suleman presents his international passport, it will reveal that both of them travelled together on a certain day to Canada, Shuaib responded: “How do you travel with someone you have never met? It is clearly an illusion and part of her romantic fantasy.
“But again, if she wants to prove her case before the media, are we the ones to help her do so? Can’t she go to the airline and get a manifest on how they travelled together? Tell the world her seat number and that of Apostle Suleman. Let her get those facts and give to the press.
“Besides, when a stalker is desperate, he/she can go to any length to get his/her victim’s attention. If you know the itinerary of your target, particularly a preacher whose international meetings are made public, a desperate stalker can go there in attempt to see the person. The truth is that, this is an unnecessary media trial and it is deceitful, mendaciously knavish and full of falsehood.”
On bank statement showing payments Apostle Suleman allegedly made into her (Stephanie’s) account, Suleman’s aide said “Anyone can type and print a statement and call it by any name. But it cannot be called a genuine bank statement, except such a statement has been so verified by a forensic expert under the direction of a court of competent jurisdiction to so do.
“More so, what we had expected was evidence to buttress her initial claims of tons of dollars, Euros and the Pound Sterling being paid into her account, not the lodgment in a Naira account. Certainly, this is an afterthought, but it is not strange as Apostle Suleman engages in a lot of charity. On a daily basis, men and women come for help and he assists them.
“Was Apostle Johnson Suleman sleeping with Nollywood Actor, Leo Mezie, when he paid his entire medical bill of £30,000 for kidney transplant in UK? This is what they don’t tell you. Was Apostle Suleman sleeping with the nine poor Nigerians (male and female) he gave cars to on February 5th, 2016?
“Was he sleeping with the 30 widows and other indigent people that he gave out millions to start their own businesses? To Johnson Suleman, giving is a lifestyle. The fact is that, we have never denied extending help to this girl.”
Asked if the matter has eroded the confidence of the public and members of the church have in Apostle Suleman, Shuaib maintained that the church has reached a decision on this matter.
“And I don’t think there is any need expanding any debate on this. Her mother has come to beg for forgiveness and we have reached a decision on that. The church also knows that this is a lady that deliberately wants to distract Apostle Suleman from his good works and there is no point giving her attention.
“Till date, she has not brought out any credible evidence that she has been able to hold on to. Everything she has said in the past, she contradicted in her subsequent videos. It’s so unfortunate that she has wasted everybody’s time”.

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the North-East, has apologized to immediate past president Goodluck Jonathan over the action of the National Chairman of the party, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff.
Sheriff had during the reconciliatory meeting chaired by the former president walked out on him for not recognizing him as the Chairman of the part.
In a statement signed by the Zonal Chairman of the of the party, Amb. (Dr.) Emmanuel Q Njiwah and secretary, Hon. kabiru Bappah Jauro, the northeast leaders disassociated “the zone from the unfortunate and lamentable actions of one of our prominent member who walked out of the reconciliatory meeting held at the Yar’adua Center on Thursday the 6th of April 2017.
“As members and executives of the PDP in the North East we strongly stand by the moves initiated by the former President and encourage him not to relent in his effort and quest to find a lasting solution to the current Challenges confronting our party.”
It added that the zonal stakeholders’ meeting, earlier scheduled to hold at Gombe state had been postponed.
“Owing to security reports from the security agencies we were compelled to postpone the meeting indefinitely.
“A new date and venue will be communicated to parties concerned as soon as the decision is arrived at,” the statement reads.

The presidential committee investigating the discovery of $43.4m by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos, has written to suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir David Lawal and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Ayo Oke.
The committee is investigating corruption allegations against Lawal, in the award of contracts under the Presidential Initiative on the North East (PINE).
The committee, which on Thursday grilled some officials, is headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami and National Security Adviser Babagana Monguno, are members.
The separate letters to Lawal and Oke directed the duo to submit all documents relating to award of contracts by PINE and the cash remittances to NIA in the last two years.
The Osinbajo-led panel listed documents to be submitted as follows:
details of appropriated funds in the last two years;
allocation of special funds if given;
approvals for funds and by who;
expenditures; withdrawals from the Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN) if any;
covert operations and for what purposes;
completed and non-completed projects;
list of contracts awarded;
ongoing projects;
and operation of safe houses.
The committee said it expects the two officials to send their responses on or before Monday.
This will be followed by continued questioning of Lawal, Oke and some government officials and agencies whose names have not been revealed.
It was gathered the modalities for their appearance are being worked out by the committee.
Oke had earlier told the panel that former
President ,Goodluck Jonathan approved a sum of $289 million.
Jonathan was said to have directed that the money be given to NIA from the account of National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS), a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
The said sum, tagged Special Intervention Fund, was reportedly approved by the former president for the security agency in February 2015, ahead of the presidential election.
Osinbajo committee will also probe speculations that the $289 million might have been part of the slush funds deployed for the 2015 general election.

Popular Nollywood actor, Dele Odule, has revealed how his colleague Olumide Bakare died.
News of Bakare’s death broke on Saturday.
In a chat with The Nation, Odule said that he gave up the ghost on his way to the hospital.
“He was declared dead on arrival at UCH Ibadan,” he said, quoting a family source.
On rumours of a failed surgery as it is being peddled online, Odule said “It is not true that he went through surgery again. He did undergo a surgery, but that was a long time ago and it was successful.
“It will be recalled that he was very sick at one time, but he came out of it and he has been in his home,” he added.
Bakare had been ill for over three years, battling heart and lung illnesses.

good afternoon fellow nairalander....I have being having this issue of having to scratch my knees (both) for some days now. I noticed that if I scratch them it is like am enjoying it and before I notice I already have this little cut/opening (injury). the injury is now virtually all over my knees now. the itching is spreading to my laps gradually. I have use different creams but still nothing works.......please what is this and what can I do to stop it. Any advice please

having an extra year doesn't measure where you will be and how you will there. this is just an opportunity to make everything work better. I have an extra year like yourself not because I failed but because I felt sick and couldn't write my exams and when my friends were leaving for service I felt like that was the end of it all but I later came to the realisation that it was an opportunity to make everything work better for me. I will be writing the final exam now starting Monday. so just summon up courage and tell your parents about it just will be of great help to your self
