ladionline: Quite an age usadiaspora. I am happy that you are still constant. You know, life is one big quest that engage we all, but just as you've said, its not 'all comer' thing. Some will be embarrased by our quest, that our devotion is delution. But like Churchill would say, never ever, ever, ever give up. Lincoln said something to that effect in his letter to his child teacher: 'teach him to have faith in his own idea...' Hang on to that faith, it is not delution but devotion.
Hi ladi! You are one of the first ones to welcome me online smiley. Life is one big quest, for sure. It's sometimes hard to do the things we dream of, especially the older we get. But if we could only hang on to the faith we had as children, we could do anything.

RandomAfricanAm: Luckily people aren't waiting around for folks to decide if they "should go" or if they're "welcome" or not.

I tried watching the videos in your thread, but for some reason my browser crashes every time. What do they say in the videos?

Very interesting thread! At one point I would have probably jumped at the chance to move to Africa permanently. What may have kept me from pursuing it seriously was that I had no idea of which country I'm from. Now I know I'm from Nigeria, but I only learned that this year; and at this point in my life, I'm very well established in my career. Most importantly all of my extended family are here; and I couldn't leave without them. The most I can now hope to do is visit -- and hopefully many times over my lifetime. I applaud anyone courageous enough to have made the move.

The first thing that came to mind when I read the topic was what it would take for more countries in Africa to excel on a global stage, and what role the diaspora could play in it. There are so many areas for collaboration, but perhaps an equal number of challenges. If diaspora were to return, I would hope they would seek out Africans who are receptive to collaboration and not be dissuaded by those who might oppose. It's the same in the US. No matter what you do, some will be for it, and some will be against it. Just stick with those who are for it and over time you will make a difference.

Terrible thing to do. He's getting more media coverage than Mandela!

So much for security if a fraud could get so close to world leaders. Someone's going to lose his job.

Swiftboy: Wow! Let it me give it a try! Hard tho.lol
You can definitely solve it. Your first attempt is clear evidence.

Jbluv55: U dint mention if we cud cut-and-join or not cheesy cheesy so I wud say we shud cut out 4 envelope-like shapes by dividing(imaginarily) each of the 3 squares into 4 triangles and take out 1 triangle each to form a 4th envelope-like shape i.e. Each envelope-like shape is bin formed from 3 small triangles.
I hereby attach an image to further help in clarifying grin.
You are very clever! Although some might say you have shown us 12 pieces instead of 4. You are an exceptionally creative group in this threadcheesy.

So I will also give you partial credit for this impressive attempt. Can you solve without cut-and-join? It can be done.

sweet-tease:

Exactly! Didn't even take me up to a minute cool
You are very bright, but can you solve without folding? The four pieces must be identical along all dimensions and leaving no scraps of material behind nor adding any additional material.

Swiftboy: I've found the solution! Lol you did not say anything about thickness so we can cut and fold the 2 of the squares to triangles by diagonal so that'll be 2 triangles...we can then cut the extra square into 2...making 4 equallateral triangles! grin

I wasn't clear. Very creative attempt, Swift! However it can be solved without folding the shape, and you would not be able to tell the difference between the four pieces. So I give you partial credit for your answer. cool

Ok, I'll try...

Who can cut the black shape into 4 pieces each of identical size and shape?
