There has been calls to make a nairaland fantasy league for the uefa champions league competition but with time running out and no visible action, i have decided to do it myself but the moderators can create a new one if this is not appropriate.

Here is the link and the codes for both the classic and head to head league, they are both unlimited with a knockout round.

Your league code is : 93171-16171

That penalty call turned the game on its head. It could have ended in a draw.
It could have ended in a loss if casillas had not stopped some of Miku's shot on goal
and
It could have ended in another zaragoza if fabio had taken his chances
but that shows you the power a slight error by official could cause in a game.
Car Talk › Re: Ever Been Mislead By A Car Advert? by usbcable(m): 10:10pm On Sep 11, 2011
I have the intent of getting a car soon(and likely from a NLander) but ''bad people are now painting good people bad'' all cos no checks are in place to stop fraudulent people from taking advantage of buyers.

its a tough step considering the fact that some people may take advantage to soil the image of genuine and honest dealers, but a work around can be put in place to at least guard against frauds.

for instance financial institutions and telecom firms nowadays put a caveat on the websites on fraudulent SMS's likewise we see all around us houses with the inscription "house not for sale" this are some measures to prevent problems than solve problems that may arise.

the Auto/Business/phone sections provide a good market for people to buy and sell but it will be better if some steps can be put in place to preserve user trust and confidence in transactions done based on information gotten from the site.

i may suggest the following:
1. just like all other trade associations a background check is done for any new member. so its a lot better if I know that user 'A','B' and 'C' are members of an association thus less risk of running into trouble transacting business with them. and like the sign 'cars parked at owners risk' trading with a one time seller will be made known.
2. any car/vehicle sale thread/post without a VIN number be prohibited or deleted
3. a thread can be made for dealers providing some level of information about them

the above is subject to criticism(not abusive as is the norm on NL) grin

MATCH PREVIEW

Real Madrid set down an impressive marker at the start of this season's title race, with Getafe the next roadblock Mourinho intends on motoring down.So far, so good for Real, who sit on top of La Liga for the first time since Barcelona usurped them with their 5-0 win at the Camp Nou last November. The important thing now is to stay there.Real were irresistible in their 6-0 win over Real Zaragoza. Four different scorers, five different players making the final pass, six goals. Real have been irresistible, in spells, under Jose Mourinho. That win a fortnight ago was the eighth time Real Madrid had scored six or more since Mourinho took charge.

The main problem for Real Madrid - just one trophy in the past three seasons - is maintaining that form against most teams in the league. Dropped points to Sporting, Zaragoza, Levante, Mallorca, Deportivo and Almeria disrupted last year's title charge. It's now up to Real to prove that won't happen this year, with Getafe the first example to be made of at home, with the added incentive of it being a local derby.Mourinho, who hadn't lost a league game at home in nine years, lost two towards the rear of last season against Sporting and Zaragoza. Getafe will have to be beyond their best to add to that pair. With 61 goals scored by Real Madrid at the Bernabeau last season, Getafe - who conceded 34 goals on the road last season - will hope for their back four of Mane, Lopo, Cata Diaz and former Madridista Miguel Torres can stay fit in order to stop a front-line containing some of the best attacking talent in the world; however, Mane and Lopo are struggling with injuries, meaning Alex Perez and Masilela may slot in.

Getafe are still searching for their first win under new manager Luis Garcia after his former club Levante picked up a deserved point on the opening weekend. Nicolas Fedor's long-range effort was a rare bright spot for the Azulones, who were under pressure from Levante for large periods of the match - despite the trio of Lacen, Casquero and Rodriguez in the midfield looking to contain the opposition.

Those three will have to be in phenomenal form to stop Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo scored 40 league goals last season and already has three after his hat trick at Zaragoza, and with Di Maria, Ozil, Benzema, Kaka and Higuain - amongst others - supplying him, he'll be looking to top the scoring charts again this season. But the table that really matters to those involved at Real Madrid is the La Liga one; a comfortable win against Getafe will see them at the summit for one more week, at least.

and the picture is a fraud( which doesn't surprise me since diving and faking injuries is a hall mark in catalunya) because perez was not president in 2008-2009 season.

moreover, in three season we've spent:
2009-10:  250
2010-11:  56
2011-12:  55
and barcelona has spent:
2009-10:  86+eto'o(A VERY DUMB DEAL BTW and the greatest beneficiary was, ,, JM himself) tongue
2010-11:  72
2011-12:  53

meaning
RMFC:  370
FCB:     210

NOW if we add the worth of eto'o(at least 30M) the difference further pales down. and yet you say we spend in our fantasies. I laugh in BH. grin
worse still 240 was spent on 10 players as against 370 on 19 players(ratio 24:19). who is more realistic and prudent with spending now. wink

With his present state in madrid, he is very very very unlikely to return to the premiership.

Most ManUtd fans still want him back but he seems to have also found great admiration from the madrid community. and this is vivid from the very first day he was unveiled to the number of fans on his social network page.
he has also accomplished some level of success:
1. having the record of highest goal scorer for a season in laliga
2. having the highest goal to match rate for real madrid
3. increased income
4. his obvious likeness for the club
e.t.c will surely make it difficult for him to leave.
and I hope he is able to achieve UCL success this season. That will just seal the deal to keep him for a very long time in real.

Fergie stands up for Mourinho
Sir Alex Ferguson has defended the touchline antics of Jose Mourinho.

The Real Madrid manager hit the headlines once more after appearing to poke Barcelona assistant Tito Vilanova in the eye following a recent Spanish Supercopa clash. Many feel such incidents could cost Mourinho any chance of succeeding Ferguson as Manchester United boss when the Scot eventually calls time on his stellar career.

However, Ferguson is not convinced Mourinho is a member of the bad boys' club. Indeed, the former Chelsea boss reminds him very much of himself. "I don't find anything wrong with his enthusiasm," Ferguson told Corriere dello Sport.

"When I was younger I showed more enthusiasm on the bench too. I was always gesticulating and directing. It's Mourinho's nature to be agitated," added Ferguson, recalling the night he charged up the touchline at Old Trafford after Porto had recorded a memorable Champions League win in 2004.

"When I saw Mourinho run up and down the touchline at Old Trafford when he coached Porto, I said to myself, 'Did I also use to do that?' People recognise his enthusiasm. The fans understand that he's fighting for them and for the squad."

Mourinho will doubtless be glad of the support, especially from such a respected figure. However, with the Champions League due to get under way again, Ferguson has plenty on his plate with the memories of last season's chastening final defeat to Barcelona still fresh in the memory.

The current Barca side has been hailed by some as the finest in history, but Ferguson was more equivocal in his assessment.

He said: "It is certainly among the best sides of all time. But so was the Milan side with (Franco) Baresi, (Carlo) Ancelotti, (Roberto) Donadoni and the Dutch players.

"People in football have short memories. Now everyone says Barcelona are a fantastic squad, but at the time they said the same thing about Milan. There is no sense in asking which is the best team of all time.

"The important thing is to remember that a certain squad was special. That makes me think of the Dutch squads in the 70s, Bayern and Celtic, which beat Inter in the European Cup in 1967. That was a squad in which the players were born within a 25-kilometre radius

And that is why the whole of Real madrid save the outcast calderon is behind him.

i watched the interview and the journalist never asked the lady if she were nigerian and the lady never at any point in time said she was nigerian.

it was only two males the journalists asked for their nationality that responded as being nigerians.

the lady only said when libyan rebels came in hilux cars to the camp the were chased away by a group of ''nigerians and other nationals'' after when the rebels claimed to wantin to violation the ladies in the camp. she then further said (at the behest of the journalist) that they want the UN to come to their aid . the journalist asked if they wanted the help of the libyan govt(NTC) the lady declined the offer saying the rebels will keep them as slaves and that they cant go back home because there is'' political unrest in their country''.

am not saying she is not nigerian or she is but she did not at any point in time declare her citizenship.
Biggoozz:
Guys, tune to Aljazera now and see Nigerians begging for UN rescue. The funny thing is that they turned down Nig Govt rescue @ the request of the interviewer saying Naija is currently in chaos. The Lady said the previous night, the rebels came dragging them out to despoil them. I wonder why our Govt hasn't conducted the usual rescue operation as they did in other troubled Arab countries than begging the rebels to stop killing Nigerians.
