Hon. Zakari Condemns Kidnap of CUSTECH Students, Sympathize With Parents, School Authority

Member representing Okene II Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Zakari Yusuf (Nescafe) has condemned in strong terms the attack on Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara where a number of students were abducted. Some of the students who are said to be preparing for their first semester exams were whisked away by criminals on Thursday 9th May, 2024 at about 8:30PM.

The lawmaker who was among government officials that visited the school shortly after the incidence sympathize with the management, parents and members of the university community over the unfortunate incidence.

Earlier, Hon. Zakari along side the state Commissioner of Police, CP Bertrand Onuoha, Commissioners of Information & Education Kingsley Fanwo and Wemi Jones respectively were conducted round the scene of the sad incidence by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdulrahaman Salawu.

Zakari commended the swift response of the various security agencies particularly the local hunters and vigilantes who were already in hot pursuit of the criminals with the aim of bringing our students back unhurt. He expresses sympathy to the parents of the abducted students and urged them to remain calm with strong believe that the state government will do everything possible to bring back their loved ones safely.

“With the various security strategies deplored so far by the state government backed with massive collaboration of all security agencies, the criminals will soon be smoked out as they have no place to hide”.

The outspoken lawmaker of the 8th Assembly insist that despite the shenanigans of distractors and pockets of criminalities in the state, administration of Alh. Usman Ododo will continue to prioritize security of lives and property of the people while investment in the educational sector to consolidate on the land mark achievements of his immediate predecessor, Alh. Yahaya Bello remain unshaken.

The Personal Assistant to the Kogi state governor Alhaji Ahmed Kashim met with the Central Working Committee. He appreciates their hard work, dedication and commitment and pray that Allah crown their efforts with success.

In his usual grassroots political dispensation he gave out bags of grains and some cash to CWC members and encourage them to be good ambassadors to their wards promising to do more as time unveiled. He said, before now there are people that brings information from the government to the people but won't take feedback to the government but he is here to change the narratives as he is much aware of the needs and wants of our people because he operates from the grassroots.

While responding, one of the members commended his Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for prioritizing the welfare of the citizens most especially civil servants and pensioners. He said that, he received 100% of his pension and him and other pensioners including civil servants appreciate him and encourage him to maintain the tempo and keep the ball rolling in all other spheres of the good governance.

In conclusion, the group leaders greatly appreciate Alhaji Kashim for he is a trusted servant that with him the administration of His Excellency Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo has nothing to fear as the youths of Kogi state will forever be on his path to liberate and consolidate on the achievements of his predecessors.

*STATEMENT*

On Tuesday, 23rd April 2024, Mr. Olanipekun Olukoyede, in a conduct unbecoming of a Legal Practitioner, organized a press conference where he made defamatory statements against His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello. Specifically, he alleged that Yahaya Bello withdrew cash from the Kogi State Government Account, sent it to Bureau De Change Operators, and used it to pay his children's school fees in advance.

*SETTING THE RECORDS STRAIGHT*

1. Yahaya Bello's children have attended the American International School, Abuja, since before he became Governor, and he has paid their fees as due without fail.
2. He did not pay USD720,000 or USD840,000 as alleged.
3. The payment commenced in 2021, not when he was leaving office.
4. He did not use Kogi State Government funds to pay the fees.
5. The EFCC's attempt to recover funds from the school was unsuccessful, and the court mandated the school to continue providing services.
6. The documents published online are public documents filed in court and show that Yahaya Bello has nothing to hide.
7. The payment is the subject of an ongoing court case, and we await the EFCC's proof in court.
8. We will not engage in prejudicial statements while the matter is sub judice.
9. We thank Nigerians who recognize the EFCC's desperation as personal vendetta.
10. We implore others not to be misled by mischievous narratives but to follow the case until justice is served.
11. Yahaya Bello will not be intimidated by blackmail and will continue to follow due process.

Bello: The Colossal loss of EFCC In An Attempt To Bridge The Existing Order

The politics of our common democracy has been materialized to an agency that should build on trust, credibility and transparency as it is now a perdagog way of jumping from order to get an order just for a selfish or otherwise law violation.

The question here is very simple are NBA cautioning their member in all agencies to be of good and moral discipline in discharging their duty to the organizational map and the country at large?

Recently, the witch hunting of Yahaya Bello,the former governor of Kogi state is what could be termed a colossal loss by the EFCC as the agency in a bid to be competent bridged competency simply because i see they injected by hullabaloos who is quick enough to forget the past for the present daybreak. Day and night are alternating simply because nights have not quarrel days for brightness.

Indeed,there are great lesson to learn from this display of act I may called script acting and the perspection of so many individuals as to the tune of EFCC calling or saying Bello denied an invitation from the honorable agency. Can Bello in his mindfulness be so reluctant in honoring such invitation? My advice is Bello should honor the invitation if it is so true as it's pertinent that as an elected leader that have served before now you might be queired and answering and prefer answers to the query by either EFCC,CCB or ICPC is of great importance and prove your dedication to the rule of law.

Both party should come to a limelight and set a statutory for the general public to rest. Above all, Yahaya Bello should file a suit against EFCC, Immigration and Attorney general of the federation for violation of human Rights and character defamation demanding for ransom.

Senator Smart Adeyemi (CON) Completed Construction of 3 Block of Classrooms At Community Secondary School Otu Egunbe, Kabba- Bunu LGA.

It would be recall that few weeks ago, Distinguished Senator Smart Adeyemi begins the construction of 3 block of classrooms in some Communities in Kogi West. In another related development, the construction which commenced some weeks ago has been successfully completed. The Senator also have similar project at Muslim Secondary School Iyara, Ijumu LGA of Kogi State.

This is a reflection that Senator Smart Adeyemi values the upcoming generations and their education and he has made several landmark achievements in the area of education just like he has been doing in other sectors in his bid to add more value.

It will interest us to know that Senator Smart Adeyemi has constructed and reconstructed schools, donated reasonable number of computer to schools, paid tuition fees for students whose course are capital intensive, embarks on scholarship award schemes, his over twenty million naira bursary award is a practical example and so many others.

Meanwhile, we have multi millions naira project of the Reconnection of Illu -Afon, Ottafun, Idoyi, Ila, Iluke, Aghara, Odahi, Ogharu Communities in Kabba/Bunu, Mopamuro and Ijumu LGAs to National Power Grid, installation of street solar lights,construction and reconstruction of roads, provision of motorized boreholes, health insurance scheme for pregnant women amongst others, majority of these laudable projects are completed while others are presently ongoing.

Distinguished Senator Smart Adeyemi (CON) has epitomizes outstanding representation and capacity delivery.
He has performed exemplarily well and has rescued us from shackles and shambles of misrepresentation and ill performance. Indeed the mantra redemption towards emancipation is genuine as we can see and feel the conscious efforts and tremendous impacts of DSSA in all ramifications.

May Almighty God continue to bless, uplift and replenish our own Distinguished Senator Smart Adeyemi (CON). Amen.

Kogi Central: 625 Recieve Oseni's Cash Grant, Bike, Deep Freezer, Sewing Machine

The city of Okene yesterday erupted in jubilation as the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Senator Yakubu Oseni unprecedentedly empowered 625 constituents in various empowerment phases.

Dubbed as ''Capacity building for youths and women in Kogi Central,” the first phase of the programme featured about 500 youths and women who were thoroughly coached on techniques to adopt for sustenance of micro business especially in a depressed economy.

The second phase of the empowerment programme was the distribution of bikes, deep freezer and industrial sewing machine to 125 people drawn from local government areas of his constituency.

Senator Yakubu Oseni who spoke through his Chief of Staff, Alhaji Aliyu Bello said that all the items distributed to the beneficiaries were meant to serve as a springboard to economic self-reliance and sustainability.

The lawmaker further encouraged them to judiciously utilise the items in productive economic ventures especially during the forthcoming festival period when the functions of sewing machines, deep freezer and bike are most needed.

While stressing his unalloyed commitment to the success of all candidates on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming general election, Senator Oseni opined that his party has considerably delivered on its campaign promises in Kogi State and Nigeria in general.

Senate Approves conversion of FCE Okene to Varsity

After series of legislative scrutiny and public hearing, the Nigeria Senate has finally passed the bill for conversion of Federal College of Education (FCE) Okene to Federal University of Education.

The bill for the conversion of the school to a full fledged University of Education was introduced to the 9th Senate by the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Senator Yakubu Oseni.

Senator Oseni had argued that considering the importance of education to the overall development of a nation, specialized universities ought to be established in order to meet up with the ever increasing demands of professional teachers in the country.

While soliciting the support of his colleagues for easy passage of the bill, Senator Oseni who is the chairman, Senate Committee on Information and Communication Technology Cyber/Security had earlier submitted that the conversion of FCE Okene to Varsity would be at minimal cost as structures and human resources required are already available in the school.

With the passage of the bill by the Senate following consideration of reports by Senate Committee on Tertiary Institution and TETFUND, the bill awaits concurrent of the House of Representatives before being transmitted to President Muhammadu Buhari for assent.

It would be recalled that out of several other bills sponsored by Senator Yakubu Oseni, Nigeria Steel University Ajaokuta and Federal University of Education Bills are principally focused on having specialised universities in Nigeria.

On the 3rd December, 2021 Senator Yakubu Oseni distributed Tricycle to empower the youth to enhance transportation in Kogi State

200 Adavi farmers were trained on seedlings from Dec. 17th to 19th 2021. At the end of the training, they were empowered with the following seeds: okra, tomato, pepper, bean, maize etc

From 20th to 24th December, 2021 he facilitated 5 days training of 70 Youths on ICT by Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy drawn across Kogi Central.

Over 800 women and Youths drawn from Okehi, Adavi and Ogori Magongo were empowered on 21st December, 2021

On 21st December, 2021 Senator Yakubu Oseni distributed two trucks of rice for Kogi Central Christians to celebrate Christmas. This is an annual tradition. In the same vein, party Excos were not left out.

On 22nd December, 2021 youth and women numbering over 800 were drawn from Okene and Ajaokuta LGA and were empowered by the peoples senator.

Fom 10th to 14th January, 2022 Senator Oseni facilitated the training of 50 youths on capacity development program and artisan and under-served youth on digital literacy and GSM phone repairs. He distributed, IPAD, kits for phone and computer repair alongside start off funds was also given

From 16th to 20th December, 2021. Senator Yakubu Oseni trained some sets of women and Youths on Catering Service and Shoe making and empowered them with the following s: Women: Micro-oven, Mixer and start up capital and Youths with Shoe-making kit, Filling machine and startup capital.

Senator Oseni Begins Construction of Ebogogo Multi-purpose Town Hall

The Ebogogo Community in Adavi LGA of Kogi State has been thrown into jubilation as Senator Yakubu Oseni representing Kogi Central Senatorial District begins construction of multi-purpose town hall for communal interactions of the people.

Members of the community had for years, yearned for community-owned befitting venue where issues of community development and communal misunderstanding could be deliberated upon.

In an interactive meeting with some members of the community, the Chief of Staff to the lawmaker, Alhaji Bello Aliyu said Senator Oseni is a leader who had a very humble beginning in many rural communities in Kogi Central, stressing that his quest to develop the rural communities has remain topmost in his agenda.

"For those of you that are keenly following Senator Oseni's project execution across Kogi Central, you will agree with me that he has soft spot for rural development especially in terms of education and entrepreneural development.

"He recently kick started construction of market in Upogoro Community aside the cash grant given to petty traders across the five local government areas of his constituency. So, this town hall is one of those many intervention he planned to execute before the end of his tenure", he said.

Alhaji Aliyu revealed that when completed, the Ebogogo Community Town Hall which will have provision for conveniences, would be equipped with other items to enhance users comfort during events.

He assured that the project would be supervised closely to ensure its completion in no distant time.

In recognition of his legislative contributions, dedication and selfless service to the nation, the Mayors of Road Traffic Officer/ Vehicle Inspection Officer (RTO/VIO) in Abuja have unanimously inducted Senator Yakubu Oseni as its Grand Patron.

The induction programme took place today at the VIO Conference Hall, Mabushi Abuja.

While speaking at the event, Senator Oseni who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Information and Communication Technology (ICT)/Cyber Security, Senator Yakubu Oseni opined that Nigeria is ripe for full deployment of ICT devices in road traffic and safety management.

The lawmaker who expressed his preparedness to align with VIO in its quest for safety roads in Abuja, highlighted several digital devices which could help the officers to forestall possible road mishaps and even deal with defaulters.

"In as much as I understand that this special Road Traffic Mayor Corps was established to increase stakeholders' participation in road safety and traffic management, I believe Nigeria is ripe for full deployment of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in traffic management. The need to adopt digital devices in management of road transport related issues becomes imperative because of several factors and attitude that could cause road mishaps.

"In addition to the much-needed attitudinal change amongst road users in Nigeria, I believe traffic control and management will become seamless when ICT devices are deployed", he said

He however called for positive attitudinal change amongst road users in Nigeria, noting that there should be no limit to measures, discourse and policies that are aimed at bringing more sanity to Nigeria roads and its users.

On his part, the Director of FCT Directorate of Road Transport Services (DRTS), Dr Bello Abdullateef commended Senator Yakubu Oseni and other inductees for their exemplary and selfless services to the nation in their various field of endeavors.

Dr Abdullateef further revealed that Senator Oseni's nomination as Patron of the VIO Mayors is in recognition of his legislative contributions and dedication, just as he expressed optimism that the lawmaker would lend his voice in the quest to decongest the Nigeria roads.

"I am sure that by the time Senator Yakubu appears in the chamber tomorrow, he will begin to tell his colleagues and every National Assembly workers on the need to ensure more safety on our roads by paying serious attention to the traffic safety measures", he said.

Imam Bello Muhammad Zakariya was a graduate from Egypt university and currently lying in federal medical center,lokoja, kogi state for chronic kidney disease. Before this he was on a regular check up and follow up for Lupus Nephritis since 29h October,2022.

Part of his treatment involves three times weekly hemodialysis,each costs about N35,000 naira only with an overall total of N100,000 per week and also a purchase of blood forming injection (Erythropoietin Injection) with a cost of N20,000 naira per week. His treatment also involves series of laboratory tests periodically and a purchase if blood pressure controlling drugs (Anti- hypertensive) estimated to N10,000 per month and currently he is on oxygen.

Finally, he will be subjected to renal transplant which is obtainable within and outside the country. And the current estimated cost of the transplant is about eighteen million naira (18,000,000) including post transplant care.

Imam Zakariya is a younger brother to Imam Hussein Bello who is the pre khutba Mallam in Ebira Central Mosque and the family do hereby solicit for financial support of the general public who will come across this for the treatment to be effective as they have spent more than five hundred thousand (N500,000) to keep him alive till this moment. Kogi G-21 remain a group that cut across the twenty one LGAs of the state and ofcourse has its state executives,zonal coordinators,LG coordinators,ward coordinators and student coordinators respectively which will ease the local politics more easier and accessible via the aforementioned positions.

Today we have held the physical meeting in the state capital where the state coordinator Comr. Abdullahi Jemil gave profound analysis of how the group came into existence and so far where the group has gotten to and what the group will offer in the nearest future as the group stands out high to make decision together for a greater kogi state.

In furtherance the state woman leader who is also Arewa Women Coordinator for Bola/Shettima group gave detailed explanation on how she picked interest in the group upon hearing it and since then has taken it as her baby group and she is happy with the dogged and rugged aluta struggle by the state coordinator and other dedicated members of this great platform and moreso gave caution to whoever that will by any means use this group for selfish interest upon hearing that he/she will be removed without any mercy and it is going to be as how you work you shall earn from this group as monkey will never work for baboon to be eating she said. She gave her unlimited happiness for the turn out despite the limitation because of the cost implications involved and charged all local Government coordinators to as a matter of urgency start their local Government meetings and ward meetings while they report back to the general house.

Senator Oseni Gives Take off Grant, Tools, 5G ipads to Digital Economy Trainees

The Chairman Senate Committee on Information and Communication Technology/Cyber Security and Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Senator Yakubu Oseni has empowered his constituents with take off grant in a just concluded training on digital economy.

Senator Oseni in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy has in the past one week been training no fewer than 70 of his constituents on phone and laptop repairs in Okene, Kogi State.

Aside the life-changing digital skills and a token of N20,000, each of the participants also went home with 5G ipads and complete set of phone and laptop repair accessories.

While charging the beneficiaries to nurture the skill and token given to them, the lawmaker who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Alhaji Bello Aliyu said they are expected to make both ends meet in the ever growing Nigeria digital economy which remains largely unexplored.

"To the beneficiaries, I congratulate you on all the skill sets gained and I believe you have had wonderful training sessions. You were selected from the five local government areas of Kogi Central Senatorial District and so far, you have been good ambassadors of your respective LGAs and communities.

"In my maiden address to you at the beginning of this training, I did mention that Nigeria has barely captured negligible fraction of its digital economic potential and will need to make strategic investments in order to develop a dynamic, transformative digital economy in line with recent World Bank assessment. If the current statistics about our digital economy is to be improved, our collective inputs are needed and this explains why you are all here", he said.

The lawmaker further noted that as trained technicians, they are better equipped to positively conquer the world of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), while urging them to train others who may be interested in the skill in their various communities.

I specially welcome you all to this phase of our human capacity building programme aimed at entrenching digital economy.

We began this training last year with over 600 artisans drawn across the five local government areas of Kogi Central Senatorial District. After days of intensive training on phone and laptop repairs, the beneficiaries had reasons to be excited with the life-changing insight and skill they got from our team of experts and I believe this group will not be an exception.

As chairman, Senate Committee on Information and Communication Technology Cyber/ Security, I was privilege to know that amidst sweeping advancement in the world of ICT, Nigeria has barely captured negligible fraction of its digital economic potential and will need to make strategic investments to develop a dynamic, transformative digital economy in line with recent World Bank assessment.

This need for strategic investments informed my decision to pay salient attention to this training aside my numerous empowerment programmes. At the end of this training, you can work as a full time technician with an authorized service centers of companies like Apple, Samsung, Sony, etc.

In addition to the above, my earnest desire is to see all of you become your own bosses. The skills that will be impacted on you by our experts are sufficient enough for you to start phone and laptop repair services in your respective locations. I believe that when you start your repair centre with the tools, skills and token that you will get at the end of the training, it will directly open up opportunities for other people that you will engage in your respective areas. You can then see the multiplier effect and contribution that you will be making to the Nigeria economy in your own little way.

Therefore, I encourage you all especially those that are yet to be engaged in either formal or informal sector to establish your service centers. We all know that mobile phone repair as a career is gaining a lot of traction among the youths. This is because of the increasing popularity of smartphones and iPhones usage. In today’s world, people are beginning to keep more than one mobile phones and there will continue to be cases of damages where your services will be required.

Ladies and gentlemen, the testimonies and feedback we got from the previous beneficiaries are a part of the impetus that made us to continue with the programme. Many of the previous beneficiaries are now employers of labour in their little way and making their legitimate earnings without resorting to being subservient to unscrupulous political leaders. I expect your inputs and contributions to the economy of your communities to be more felt than your predecessors.

Just like I charged the previous beneficiaries, the token, skill and tools that you will be given at the end of this program could be likened to a seed. Make sure you plant and nurture it very well in order to make bountiful harvest. There is absolute dignity and self respect in labour and the little money you earn on your own is far better than infectious millions you earn from somebody who may want to maneuver you for selfish interests.

KOGI APPEALS SHINES AT THE 14TH EDITION OF THE NATIONAL AGRICULTURAL SHOW

Kogi APPEALS has emerged 3rd place at the just concluded 14th edition of the National Agricultural Show “Youth and Women in Agriculture seminar held at the National Agricultural show Ground, Abuja –Keffi way, Nassarawa State.

The organizers noted that the award is in recognition of the effort of the project in creating jobs by empowering women and youth groups in agriculture in the state and the quality of our farm produce and products displayed at the event.

Speaking at the occasion Barrister Nkiruka Stella Okonkwo, Chief Executive Officer, Fresh & Young Brains Development Initiative, part of the organizers of the show noted that as key stakeholders in the agricultural sector of the country, there is urgent need to reposition youth and women farmers by overcoming challenges of climate change, insecurity and high cost of production through engendering gender-responsive budgeting, research, technology, capacity building, programing policy and legal frameworks.

At this year’s edition, dignitaries and guests from different parts of the country trooped in to the KOGI APPEALS stand to glance through farm produce and products showcased from five value chains of aqua culture, poultry, rice, cashew and cassava, and cutting across the production, processing and marketing segments.

The 2022 national agricultural show featured the opening ceremony, agricultural produce and products exhibitions, interactive session, display of assorted agricultural equipment and machineries, display of new agricultural technologies, cultural and road shows.

The state project coordinator, Dr Sanni Abdullahi Ozomata led the Kogi APPEALS team to the event and took out time to inspect products from other participating states and organizations.

The national agricultural show was organized as part of activities to mark this year’s World Food Day celebration with the team “Leave no One Behind, Better Production, Better Nutrition, A Better Environment and A Better Life”

The youngest chief of staff to the governor of Kogi state have today clocks three years in office and it is a purposeful leadership accumulate to standard of governance.

Pharm. Abdulkareem Asuku in his youthful age have served kogi state under the government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello as Director General in the first tenure and upon assuming office for second tenure he was duly appointed as the chief of staff and as it is he perform credibly well which shows that the youths to be in governance is of paramount important in our today politics. Inspection to the water construction by senator Oseni was done successfully.

In the afternoon of on Saturday,08/10/2022 some team of Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority was on inspection to the borehole construction by distinguished Senator Yakubu Oseni representing the good people of Kogi central at the red chamber.

The borehole construction which was intended to be distributed to the people of Ahache,Uruvoba and Okene-Eba communities to ease their suffering when it comes to water. Many of the people describe senator Oseni to have save life since water is life and it uses encompassing. The project upon completion will be solar powered as it contains 280W of solar panel numbering one to 58 as two panels is ontop of the control room which will give a total wattage of 16,240W with this alone the pressure is beyond imagination and it is going to be a 24/7 pumping and discharging as an overflow relay will control the whole discharge.

The team was led by Mr. Bayo who was excited upon seeing the status of the job well-done and has to let the community know that the contractor has done more than the specification on the septic tank and therefore commend distinguished senator for bringing this phase lift to his community. He urge the communities that upon commissioning they should make judicious use of the project. A tour through Uruvoba to Okene eba to see the proper laying of galvanized pipe was done by the engineer and his team.

The ward councillor have expressed his joy to distinguished and used the opportunity to urge all other political office holders, government appointees and other well meaning ebira leaders to trend on this part that will outlive you and stand as your legacy for the next generation to come

Kogi G-21 send her condolence message to Hon. Jibrin .

Late hour of on Sunday 02nd of October,2022 the attention of the group as above is drawn to a condolence visit to Hon. Jibrin O. Ahmed over the loss of his beloved mother.

The state coordinator Comr. Muhammad Abdullahi Jemil on a telephone call condole with the SA on youth sports and student development to his Excellency Gov Bello and his family over the demise of his beloved mother onbehalf of Kogi G-21 describing her as a woman of virtue and outstanding good characters which is a reflect in her children over some years he has met them. And that her death has created a big vacuum among her children and relatives yet to be replaced.

He pray that may Allah have mercy with the deceased and forgive her shortcomings and make it easy for the family to bear this irreplaceable loss.
