Thanks Crizzle-2-d-Dizzle grin

Ok back to the business of the day, Arsenal against Bolton Wanderers (May the Wander today! grin)

The Arsenal will finally play their game in hand on Wednesday night and the Gunners & fanz will be hoping for max. points at home to a managerless Bolton Wanderers. Matches against the Trotters have always been close fought affairs but without Alex Song and Cesc Fabregas in midfield, will the Gunners be able to stand up to the physical threat posed by Bolton?

Aaron Ramsey continues to look every bit of a future Arsenal star, his maturity has impressed many and even Arsène Wenger has been surprised how quickly he has improved to become a first-team regular. With two goals in his last two games earning him a succession of man-of-the-match displays "Rambo" as he's know among the fans is sure to start alongside Dyaby grin lipsrsealed & Denilson in the midfield.

Andrey Arshavin (Arrrrrrrshaaaa al hilaaaaal arsshaaaa grin grin) returns from a minor foot injury and he is expected to be joined up front by Eduardo and the tricky Samir Nasri who will relish the tussle with Bolton's defenders.

Nicklas Bendtner, Walcott, Vela, Clichy'll like make the bench. With the weather ish all around the UK, i can ONLY pray it favorz us. *sneeezes* undecided

Debo,

He's good wiv spot-kicks (something we've NOT been having good fortune wiv lately), plus he's a free-kick specialist and thet's someone that could give RVP a run his money in the red n white shirt (sentiments apart), good aerial ability, two footed. . now tell me he ain't worth it.

All i'm saying is d kid got it & could well fit right into d system if he comes in.

Debo,
What we'll NEVER understand as loyal arsenal fanz are Wengers mind games, one minute he's all "i'll sign a replacement", the next minute he's cold on the topic.  What we NEVER knew'z that Le Prof'z been on Cardoso'z trail for 2 seasons now  shocked. . Or you don't remember his alleged remarks about Angel Di Maria?, the thing is, the moment wenger mentions a name, everyone would wanna fall over themselves to sign him so he has to mush. .I dont need to remind you or Arshavin'z case when his name first came up. . the chavz wiv they megabuckz were waiting to pounce, so where tottenham!

It wouldn't surprise me if we landed this dude, it's been a long wait. cool

Honestly, only the Prof knows. undecided

Oscar Cardozo is a "direct style" striker

Cesc talks about a direct style as sometimes the best way to go about scoring goals.

"An average team that has the best striker in the world can always do something and Didier Drogba makes all the difference to them."

The problem is who? The names that get mentioned the most. Edin Dzeko (Wolfsburg) will be too expensive. In Maroaune Chamakh's case, his club is not planning to jettison him mid season. Plus, these players will not come as mere replacements for RVP. They would expect first squad action even on his return. Which means that some players might become surplus.

Actually RVP lacks the physicality to take the bull by the horns, go behind the defense. He is far more nuanced. Technically he is better as a second striker. So strictly speaking Fabregas is not looking at a RVP replacement. What Fabregas is suggesting is a totally different player.

I remember Obafemi Martins name being bandied quite a bit a few years ago while at Newcastle. He is at Wolfsburg and doing decently.

Athletic, great ability to get behind the defense, good with both feet, shame about the temperament though.

What Arsenal lacks is a set piece specialist. The player who comes on board should have that capability too. Its been a long time since I saw a free kick taken by an Arsenal player that has resulted in a goal. Tomas Vermaelen tried his hand against Chelsea but his effort was woeful.

I have always thought that Roque Santa Cruz's Paraguayan strike partner Oscar Cardozo presently at Benfica would have been a great addition.

At 6'4" and about 90 kgs, he can muscle his way through any defense and has been on fire this season scoring 14 goals in 10 appearances for Benfica. For the record he has 44 goals in 65 Benfica appearances and a number of them through free kicks. Cardozo has plenty of international experience for the Paraguayan team. Now in his third season, he has remained remarkably durable which is an important consideration for Arsenal as an injury prone club. A few disciplinary issues aside, his appearances have been uninterrupted.

What i'm reading up on him is certainly interesting and this dude is way under the radar compared to otherz making the dailies.

Arsene Wenger REALLY is a crook  shocked, this dude is juz 11million euros and is ON FIRE for Benfica.

Darren bent at Arsenalhuh huh
You have got to be kidding me.
I will rather Crouchy or Beattie
Nah H, twas from the horses mouth this time. . .i was shocked to hear it, hope it fizzles though.

Now it's "Hulk" from Porto who's been linked to the emirates for d third time today on diff soccer sites. . this one don pass be careful as it ain't the first time we've heard abt it, dude costs about 20mil though  undecided

Arsenal told they must wait for Hulk

Manchester United and Arsenal must wait for Porto striker Hulk.

Arsene Wenger fancies Porto's Brazilian striker, real name Givanildo Vieira de Souza, who will cost around £20m.

Yet Hulk, 23, wants stability in Portugal ahead of the World Cup this summer.

His agent Teodoro Fonseca said: "Inclusion in Brazil's World Cup squad is the most important thing.

"If he gets in, it could act as a gateway to England for him and that is what we want."
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only. by v3: 9:18am On Jan 05, 2010
Debo,

Point taken, but IMO. . Bent defo is a good buy for Arsenal (should AW sign him), he's got the same build as KJ, pace, good shooting ability and is a team player unlike KJ (remember the ish between him&Cisse?). Bent is looking to resurrect his dwindling career & Arsene said he was looking to offer him a helping hand but from AW'z history wiv "english" strikerz, signing Bent is pure fantasy grin

I don't mind him bringing a nuthead wiv a penchant for scoring goals, like Bellamy cool .

About Vela, gotta agree AGAIN wiv u. .yes he is good, but NOT showing the same potential thet saw an arsene scout bribing vela's father wiv "king size burger" in mexico juz to have a chat wiv his son. Remember he's at home in the CF forward but has been playing wide left of recent which has limited his abilities. .i STILL remember the vela-dudu combo that terrorised opponents when DUDU return from injury, same thing wiv walcott, it's the "playing outta position" thingy IMO.

Give em time Debo. .

Good morning y'all, still waking up to the shocker thet left me speechless for some minutes (anyways it'z dead & gone)!

Juz heard again thet Fran Merida has agreed a five year deal wiv Alt. Madrid and he could be allowed to go under the bosman ruling. .Gotta say this, though i like the kid, it won't be right for him to make THET move NOW. Reyes coulda done more then TH14, but he wasn't patient!, Could it be not getting regular play?, being sidelined for way too long?, or juz feeling "home-sick" ? Only heaven knows.

Anyways he'd always supported Alt. Madrid since he was a kid, would be unfair if we didn't let him live his dream of wearing they jersey.

I hope FAB4 convinces him it's not the best option for him right now. cry cry  but if he chooses to leave, he leaves wiv our blessing.

This is goood. . . from www.football365.com

Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner is to return to full training on Tuesday following injury.

The Denmark international has been struggling for a couple of months after being forced to undergo a hernia operation.

Bendtner had hoped to pull on a Gunners shirt again before the turn of the year but suffered a couple of setbacks.

However, he is now making good progress and believes he could be available for selection in time for the trip to Bolton later this month.

"Tomorrow (Tuesday) I hope to start training with the ball, and the fun will begin," the 21-year-old told Sporten.dk.

"I hope to be able to make my comeback against Bolton on January 17th, the day after my birthday.

"That would be the best gift I could give myself. At least it is my personal goal, so now we will see."

ritch,

I didnt say he was "left-footed" either, there's a difference between strong foot & preferred foot, Ramsey's left foot is stronger but he's right foot is his preferred one as he gets most passes accurately wiv it. cool

I think Wenger will buy!
He may have taken a gamble not to buy if Bendtner had been fit and putting in the goals.
He knows Eduardo is still not 100%.
Vela and Theo have not been convincing upfront either
He knows it and feels it, that this may be Arsenal's best chance since 07/08 to win the league
11 points gap may be reduced to just 1 in a few days.
The chavs haven't been magnificent
The Scummies sunk to a new low yesterday, losing to Leeds.
Liverpool are more or less out of it.
Spuds, Citeh.Villa and co are just looking to be in 4th position
AW can be stubborn but I don't think he's daft.
It's his best chance and not buying would simply be foolish.
Let's wait and see!
What else can be done if NOT wait?

My major worries for wednesday's game is Denilson,i pray he recovers enough to play as Song and Cesc wouldnt be available.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only. by v3: 3:43pm On Jan 04, 2010
Wenger saw it early enough to know the "invincibles" wouldn't remain the same AFTER achieving the feat (both mentally & physically) cuz most of em had crossed the 28 or 30 + mark  undecided

5 yrs of nurturing and harnessing raw talent's starting to pay off  cool

Who woulda known a diaby, song, denilson fab4 n co would take the bull by the horn and ride it all the way? defo none of us!

It's the product of careful scouting, catching em young & guiding them aright & that's where wenger gets the applause! Take away the injuries debo, we would defo be smiling all the way to May, can bet me 2 cents on thet.

The Arsenal have enough depth to compensate for ANY injured or missing player, like it or not, at least it's been evident in two of our last matches!

But if the injuries claim the entire first 11,the question of "would the others be willing to step-up?" comes up and we both know the young gunz have done a gr8 job so far.

Let's leave it @ that, if wenger chooses to sign either permanently or on loan, it's his biz. His faith in what he has is what keeps the whole team together, unlike the play-for-henry & adebayor scenarios, the boys now ALL play for eachother!

As the arsenal faithful say "Wenger knows best & in Sir Arsene Wenger. . .we trust!"

Dunno hw else to put it. . get where i'm coming from?

It can't be helped, it's whats given Arsenal the name it has today. . .take away these "kids" and the house comes down on everyone! Don't u heavenly feeling @ d sight of 16 yr olds kicking "manish" butts? grin

The ONLY "experience" wenger knows (if he chooses to sign) are no older then 23-24 yrs, which we STILL call kids? grin grin

I want wenger to sign but if he sees talent @ an early age, he has my SOLID backing to snap it up AQAP!

Some refreshing news

Wenger seems to have a thing for Brazilian whiz kids ala Denilson.

Juventude striker Zezinho is edging closer to joining Arsenal.

The 'Young Guns' website reports his club have rejected a number of bids from Arsenal but they finally succumbed to increase pressure and accepted an offer in December.

Zézinho only signed a new deal recently but Juventude expect him to leave, with an improved bid set to come to secure the transfer for Arsenal shortly.

A spokesman said: “The last contact from Arsenal was about 20 days ago. I think they are waiting until January, when the transfer window opens and the Head of Arsenal Youth will make an improved bid. For now, there is nothing new.”

My bad, that reminds me, whats up wiv the Botelho kid? huh
