Arsenal vs Stoke

Arsenal have excited and frustrated their fans in equal measure so far this season.  If they do have title ambitions, they can scarcely afford to slip up again at the Emirates Stadium against Stoke as they have done against both West Brom and Newcastle so far this term.

Meanwhile, Tony Pulis's side sit firmly in mid-table.  Such is the unpredictability of the Premier League that three points would probably see Stoke City firmly in the top ten, but should they lose and other results go against them, they could well be looking over their shoulder at the relegation zone.

Stoke were enjoying a good unbeaten five-match run until Ian Holloway's Blackpool handed the Potters their first home defeat since going down to Manchester United in October.  Pulis will want an instant response from his side, but will find it tough going at the Emirates Stadium, where Arsenal too will be looking to bounce back straight away following Monday night's defeat at Old Trafford.  Given that the Gunners face Chelsea in their next game, Arsene Wenger will be desperate for a victory to take into the match against the Blues.

Arsenal will expect a tough game from a Stoke side that usually gives as good as it gets and is about as combative as they come.  The Gunners know that they possess players such as Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri who are capable of unlocking any side in the country, but they will also have to prove their solidity at the back and have a good measure of patience in order to get the better of Pulis's side.  Meanwhile Stoke will hope to unsettle the Arsenal defence, which has looked shaky at times this season, conceding nineteen goals so far.  In Kenwyne Jones and Ricardo Fuller , the Potters have plenty of ammunition.

We seem to play our games with alot of urgency in the first 20mins (if we get the goals, good. .if we don't, well there's 70 more mins to pass the ball around). Not the best performance I've seen in a long time but credit must go to the boys for digging deep to find the goals they needed to win the game.

Round of 16? Bring on Madrid or Bayern! My main worry is Sagna's red card cuz Eboue at RB doesn't do it for me. . then again, i'll let Lord Wenger handle that. Bar the earth-shaking free-kick  , RVP was not effective yesterday. . losing possession way too many times.
