Celebrities / Being Raped As A Teen Changed My Life Completely-- Lady Gaga by Vabadonsblog(m): 12:38pm On Dec 13, 2015
Lady Gaga has been into series of traumas lately. She told her story of how she was raped as a young girl and continued in the act for over seven years which has changed her life fundamentally. In a documentary of her new song, she hopes it will shine light on this terrifying epidemic that has really traumatized her and hopes no one as young as she was go through such pain.

While speaking at a TimesTalks panel discussion for the documentary The Hunting Ground, which focuses on the growing epidemic of campus rape, she shared her personal experiences, and why she penned a song for the film. She doesn’t want to be defined by what happened to her.

“I think it was important to everyone that the person singing this song had been abused, or experienced something like that so it was authentic,” Gaga said at the panel discussion of the song she penned for the documentary, “Til It Happens to You.”

“I didn’t tell anyone for I think seven years [about the rape]. I didn’t know how to think about it,” Gaga said. “I didn’t know how to accept it. I didn’t know how to not blame myself or think it was my fault. It’s something that really changed my life. It changed who I was completely. It changed my body, it changed my thoughts.”

Gaga spoke further about how the rape changed her body. “When you go through a trauma like that, it doesn’t just have the immediate physical ramifications,” Gaga said. “For many people it has almost like trauma, where you re-experience it through the years after it. It can trigger patterns in your body of physical distress. So a lot of people suffer not just emotional and mental pain, but physical pain as a result of being abused, raped or traumatized in some way.”

She first spoke about the rape on the Howard Stern Show in December 14, and expressed that she didn’t want the crime to define her. Why should it? Gaga’s an incredible, successful — dare we say iconic? — artist who keeps growing and amazing every time she’s in the spotlight. Who else can perform with Tony Bennett one day, and shock in bloody glory on American Horror Story the next?

“I’ll be damned if somebody’s gonna say that every creatively intelligent thing that I ever did is all boiled down to one d—head that did that to me,” Gaga told Howard.” Hear, hear!

Celebrities / People Doing Music Now Are The Yahoo/drug Boys-- Baba Fryo Fires The Industry by Vabadonsblog(m): 12:21pm On Dec 12, 2015
Baba Fryo who reigned in the Music Industry during the 90s while speaking with Saturday beats said he didn't just live the music industry because of frustration but left because the system changed as raw talent is currently not found in the industry again but Yahoo/drug boys doing music.

“There was no time I left music, but the system has changed. At present, we don’t have raw talents in the music industry; people doing music now are the ‘Yahoo’ and drug boys. They took over the industry.

A ‘Yahoo boy’ can just enter the studio because music is easy now unlike before when you would have to pass through many processes to release a song. Then you would sing from the beginning of that track till the end, but they cut corners nowadays which also explains why their songs don’t last more than six months. When they play some of my songs like Denge Pose and Notice Me, people still dance to them and remember the lyrics. Many things have changed.

“It is not true that I quit music out of frustration. It can never be so. When I was growing up in Ajegunle, I became used to gossips. I cannot be moved by dirty talks because I have been hearing it all my life, especially when my music was famous. I am not the only artiste that has gone silent over the years; we have many but I am not willing to mention names. If they said I left music out of frustration, they should describe frustration. If I was frustrated out of music, I would tell people myself.”

Baba Fryo said that to keep body and soul together, he became involved in land speculation despite the fact that he is from Delta State.

“I am still doing my music obviously; I go to shows. Also, it is not only Yoruba who are land speculators (Omo Onile) in Lagos. I collect my entitlements too, I sell lands. It does not matter that I am from Delta.

Was I born in Delta? I was born and bred here, so I have the right to collect entitlement. I have lived in Lagos all my life,” he said.

Crime / Girl Who Poured Hot Water On Her Step Sister's Body Tells Own Side Of The Story by Vabadonsblog(m): 11:52am On Dec 11, 2015
Yemisi Arogbonlo, a Medical student who lives in Port Harcourt reportedly poured hot water on her step sister, Oluwafunke Arogbonlo over a fight with her mother. She denied reports stating that her sister fell on a bucket of hot water and injured her self during a fight.

She said:

"I arrived from the school on Friday around 8pm and she was not around.
Later, I saw her emerge from her room and we greeted. I told her we had a lot of gist since we last saw about six months ago.

"She said she was surprised I was talking with her. I asked why she said that, and she replied that it was not important. I drifted off to sleep and I woke up around 11pm. I boiled water for my bath and took the bucket of water to the bathroom we all shared.

"I was there when I saw her and I asked if she had changed the bed sheet where we would sleep because we share the same bed. She asked if I didn’t hear that she beat up my mother while I was away from home. She said she could not believe that I could still talk to her. I was angry because she didn’t even put into consideration that the woman was old. I punched her and that was how we began to struggle and there was confusion in the house.

"I started crying when I saw what had happened. I treated her wounds to the best of my medical ability and I eventually took her to a hospital.

"My father later took her to another hospital. The medical doctors said somebody will have to stay with her and I decided to do that. Later, her friends came and started insulting me. When her mother also arrived from Lagos, she said I should not stay with her again and all my attempts to explain what happened to her fell on deaf ears," she added.

However, Oluwafunke told Punch the telephone that the claim she fought with Yemisi was a lie.

"It is a big lie. I was sleeping when she poured hot water on me. She is 24 years old, so how can she overpower me if we actually fought?" she queried.

Celebrities / South Africa TV Host, Bonang Matheba Showers Praises On Nigeria by Vabadonsblog(m): 11:45pm On Dec 10, 2015
South African TV cum Show Host, Bonang Matheba was recently in Nigeria as she featured as the host of the Future Awards Africa 2015 alongside Darey Art Alade last week Sunday.

Speaking in a recent interview, the TV host so praised and adore Nigerians lifestyle revealing why she still prefers a Nigerian man to any other in Africa.

You are well known in South Africa for your radio and television shows, but in Nigeria you are relatively known. Who is Bonang Matheba?

I am a South African TV host and a radio DJ. I have a show on Metro FM and I do Mondays to Fridays 10am to 12 mid-day. It’s a fabulous show and one of the biggest shows in the country. I also do Afternoon Express which is my everyday talk show on SABC 3 and I also host a show called Top Billing which is the premium luxury lifestyle magazine show in South Africa.

I’m also quite a fashionista as I am big on the blogs and social media platforms, but in Nigeria, I am known mostly for my fashion.

I have been getting quite a lot of support from YNaija, Bella Naija, and Linda Ikeji. I am falling in love with this country.

What’s striking about Nigeria for you?

I have been here about a couple of times but this is my first official visit in a working capacity. I feel it’s the people. Everywhere I go, the weather is fantastic, the food is good but it’s the people. I find Nigerians especially the ones in Lagos a little more loving and little more supportive.

They are very spiritual as I can connect easily. They love family, they love food and religion. They are very spirited and strong in their beliefs. The fun, the night life and everything about them is incredible.

Another thing I like about Nigerians is they are very fashion savvy and I think that’s how I caught their attention and the bloggers are quite obsessed with my fashion sense and how I put things together.

In one word describe Nigerian men

They are tall glasses of dark chocolate and I am obsessed with them. They are so tall, very strong, dark and very gentleman like. That’s how I can describe Nigerian men.

Can we delve into that a little?

I’d rather we focus on The Future Awards and me being in this incredible space and being here for work.
Yes I know of my connection with D’banj but for now I’d rather we speak about The Future Awards.

With all these aspirations and your busy schedule, how do you make time for your personal life?

I don’t. I don’t even have a relationship at the moment. I am married to my work and my career and I think when that changes, then I’ll be able to have a successful relationship.

So you are in the work-phase at this point in time?

Yes! I am 28. And when you are in your twenties, you are to establish your brand and make sure you have the foundation laid and after that, you can focus on your relationship but my relationship is definitely my work as it takes all of my time. In the morning I do radio, in the afternoon I do TV then I travel frequently. So until I am settled, happy and content and get to a certain level of success, then I’ll find time.

How do you respond to backlash and nasty comments from social media?

I don’t. When I see them, I just ignore them. I hardly respond to anyone that is mean unless they catch me at a very bad time. I realised that when you ignore them, everybody else ignores them. For instance, I get 90% love and 10% hate , so I’d rather take that energy and focus on the 90% of the people who really love and appreciate me rather than focusing on that 1 person out of 10.

So that means you hardly respond to hate comments?

I hardly ever respond on Twitter and I have had quite a number of them and I hardly ever respond. I think silence is what wins you the war.
