Politics › 2027: Case For Option A4 by Validated(op): 1:39pm On May 17, 2025
We still talk about the 1993 presidential elections, won by MKO Abiola as the most credible and freest elections in Nigeria.

What was unique about 1993 election?
Answer: OPTION A 4 introduced by Late Humphrey Nwosu.

Up till today, APC still adopt Option A 4 for her primaries. If the ruling party sees nothing wrong with Option A4, why is INEC shying away from it?

Fellow Nigerians, we have used the current secret ballots for 7 times and each of these times, the resukts are challenged as fraudulent owing to fraught in collation and announcements. In fact, the secret ballots gave room to secret manipulations. So, let us pressure INEC to use Option A 4 in 2027.

The benefits of Option A 4 are numerous.

1. Voting can be concluded in less than 2 hours. Once accreditation is finalized, people queue behind their candidates.

2. No need for several rounds of collation. Immediate tesukts are know Polling Unit by Pollong unit.

3. No ballot box snatching and killing of officials.

4. Reduced costs of logistics by INEC by 67%

5. Results from polling booths are sent directly to viewing INEC portal

6. We will beat Guinness Book of record as the fasted and freest elections in the world.

7. Litigation around resukt manipulations will become history.

8. Truly accepted candidates would be elected, not grab and run.

9. Grassroot mobilization will become the norm, rather than defection by politicians

10. Option A4 will reflect the wishes of the people as only credible people will be accepted.

Fellow Nigerians, let us help INEC to give us a credible elections in 2027.

I think the forest gaurd initiative in every state will go a long way in reducing insecurity fuelled by herdsmen killings and banditry, including kidnappings.

It needs serious executions if it were to be effective on the long run.
Bro, you need to wake up. Nigeria is not that simple. The Forest Guards will metamorphosis into kidnap gangs and political thugs in the hands of state governors. The real aim is to create a new force in the control of governors for 2027 elections. Watch and come here to tell me what you see. With all the defections, they know governors cannot control people's vote, but with a force in place, they can control it with armed men in the name of Forest Guards.

Why create another forces, what do we have the armed forces, police, civil defence for? Why not train special forces from these to man our forests?

malali:
❝A Nation in Shackles – Not of War, But of Waistlines❞

Nigeria is not poor. Let’s start there. We are a land sitting on sweet crude, gold dust, limestone, cocoa, and a youth population hungrier for opportunity than any in the world. And yet, we are drowning in debt. Not productive debt. Not visionary debt. But the debt of gluttony. Bureaucratic obesity. Political indiscipline.

As of today, Nigeria’s Debt-to-GDP ratio hovers above 46%, and rising. You might say, “America’s is over 100%.” Yes, but America prints dollars and its debt is owned in its own currency. Nigeria borrows in dollars, repays in naira, and earns in a system hemorrhaging oil revenues, while our elite import designer slippers.

How Did We Get Here?
• Overpaid Public Office: We run a country with 1,000+ government parastatals, each with board members paid in dollars for meetings they don’t attend.
• Political Looting: Every election year, we borrow to “fund” the budget, which vanishes into campaign pockets and padded contracts.
• Import Addiction: Nigeria imports fuel (despite producing oil), cars, clothing, even toothpicks—funded by a dollar we don’t earn, then pays back loans in FX.
• Zombie Ministries: Duplicated MDAs with overlapping duties guzzling salaries, overhead, and SUVs with police escorts.

The Fallout
• In 2024, N3.57 trillion went into debt servicing in one quarter. That’s not repayment. Just interest.
• Every naira borrowed means less for hospitals, roads, water.
• The naira falls because foreign investors know we’re not serious.
• Real businesses are dying, taxed to death to fund a vampire government.

The Solution: Scorched-Earth Bureaucratic Reform

We don’t need IMF loans. We need discipline. And here’s what we must do immediately:

1. Slash the Size of Government – Mercilessly
• Collapse overlapping ministries: Combine Ministries of Police Affairs, Interior, and Defense admin under one roof.
• Cap senator salary to ₦500,000/month and ban security votes.
• Convert legislative houses to part-time roles. Lawmaking is not a full-time job for full-time looters.

2. Enforce Local Production and Self-Sustenance
• All public officers must wear 100% Made-in-Nigeria clothing. No agbadas from Dubai.
• Public schools and hospitals must use only local products. Let the leaders taste what they neglect.

3. Luxury Import Tax
• Impose 300% tax on luxury goods—wines, designer bags, foreign soaps, luxury cars, etc.
• Ban public servants from buying any imported good above ₦50,000 unless proven essential.

4. Transparent Public Spending Dashboard
• Monthly real-time publication of every naira spent, down to stationery.
• Independent audit of ALL foreign loans. Where did they go?

5. Incentivize Local Manufacturing
• Zero tax for 5 years to any business producing textiles, food, tech hardware, or medicine locally.
• Create tax-free “makers’ zones” across all six geopolitical zones.

6. Foreign Loan Moratorium & Renegotiation
• Immediate halt on all new external borrowing.
• Appoint a sovereign debt czar to renegotiate high-interest foreign loans and restructure to longer-term repayment.
Op, you see what you gave as solution? They know that only one person can take this bull head on. Peter Obi and this is why they cannot support him. Peter Obi will kill the Political Enterprise
For me, we do not need House of Rep. We have enough laws. Nothing new to ad that cannot be handled by a senate of 73 members (Max)..
Reduce Ministries to 20 and prune MDAs. Make parastatals self-sustaining. If anyone cannot manage, they should shutdown and government outsource the services.

Politics › Electoral Reform Bills Should Punish Electoral Violence by Validated(op): 5:59pm On May 16, 2025
Any electoral reform that does not curb activities of touts and miscreant is a mirage. Our laws should must have the following inputs. Instead of criminalizing absentee voters, the law should focus on:

1. Election/electoral obstructions: Fixing Oro or any other ethnic or religious events on election day is electoral obstruction. This should be punishable by 10 years jail without option of fine.

2. Obstruction of voters: The intimidation of election officials and voters should attract 25 years jail term. Offenders should be punished severely, including ban from electoral activities for a further 10 years.

3. Snatching of electoral materials: This should equate to armed robbery and punishable by death by public execution

4. Rigging election: Election rigging is worse than banditry and must be treated as such. If bandits are to face death penalty, why would election riggers not face the same penalty?

Until we begin to make people accountable for their evil, we are just wasting our time.

Politics › Re: Electoral Act Amendment: Nigerians Reject Reps’ Proposal For Compulsory Voting by Validated:
Reps are confused. They have no work. Infact Nigeria does not need a House of Representatives. It is pure economic was. That chambers should be sold to a cinema company and these people disbanded. Imagine how much Nigeria will save without House of Rep. They say they represent the grassroot but only go there when there are elections. Instead of HOR, strengthen the LGA Councillors and LGA chairmen with accountability and performance metrics.

Imagine making voting compulsory as if the current votes count? When people are talking about improving elections, we want end to end result without human intervention. Noone wants to see some old professors who cannot use common spreadsheets to tabulate numbers come on the screens to reel out manipulated figures. We expect to see real-time results from polling units to the central collation systems.
We want to see biometrics implemented across board. We want to see a truly independent national electoral commission. Not some compromised institutions failing every four years, and yet demand more money afterwards.

The constitution needs to be amended to expunge HOR from our polity. They are of NO USE!

Politics › Monthly Rent In Lagos ... Cheap Politics Or What? by Validated(op): 9:32am On May 16, 2025
The idea of monthly rent in Lagos will be a mirage, especially for the tenants. The fact that LASG have not even implemented the current rental laws in Ikoyi, VI , Ikeja and Apapa makes this new proposal unjustifiable.

In climes where monthly rentals are applicable, government have building stocks with which they control average rental. Also in such economies builders usually build with mortgage loans spanning 25 - 30 years, hence monthly rents are used to match monthly mortgages.

Additional, in such climes, people are paid hourly, so you can push your hours to meet up. Thirdly, such economies boast of stable currencies.
Now back to Lagos. Housing permits and Land Use charges are not spread monthly. Infact you would have to pay out of pocket all permits, charges and Omonile before you commence building. So, how can a government that does not bother buiding houses be thinking to control what they do not own.

It may sound sweet in the ears of the masses, but it will shoot rents up by over 100% in 2 years.
Let me explain, if a landlord wants to increase rent, all he will do is issue quit notice within 7 days to tenant. That is what the current laws stipulate. The mass eviction that will follow the implementation with push home demand at least 3x. With high demand comes higher prices. Hence a house currently going for N2m per annum may jump to N3m on monthly rental. Secondly, most landlords do not have the luxury of pursuing tenants monthly, hence more work for agencies and so, more charges to tenants in agencies, agreements, etc.

Thirdly, with Naira to $ dropping like fall-leaves, landlords would need economic hedging, so may seek to increase rent every quarter. No law stops that you cannot increase your rent every other month.

Fourthly, most employers pay their staff lumpsum for annual rent. With monthly salaries significantly reduced by that token. So, imagine a tenant who is paying monthly rent say in September, when school fees are also due, how does the family manage, without defaulting? Especially if they have enjoyed their rental lumpsum earlier?

The idea of monthly rental may appeal to the masses, just like banning Okada was. Have they worked on the positive side? These are mere political gimmicks. If LASG means well, they can embark on massive low cost building. If they build 5 million two bedroom apartments in 3 years, they can effectively implement these noble idea. At this time, it is just a mirage, perhaps for political score points.

NB: Like someone said elsewhere, let them start with Parkview Estates.
