Idimu bus-stop is usually a beehive of activities particularly in the evening. But notable in the area is a beer parlor where people from different walks of life gather to ease off in the cool of the evening. However, at the weekend, an unprecedented crowd gathered at the beer parlor, following an argument between two men. One of them simply identified as Jamiu, was seen trying to force a cup of liquor into a man’s mouth, with the second man identified as Chidi, strenuously covering his mouth and at the same time, using his hand to block Jamiu’s hand. Just then, a commercial motorcyclist stepped in to demand what the matter was. And to the astonishment of all, Jamiu alleged that Chidi attempted to poison him through his drink. He further explained to the inquisitive crowd that he left his drink uncovered in the care of Chidi to ease himself. But upon his arrival, one of the bar men reportedly whispered to him that he saw when his friend, Chidi was administering some substance into his drink. An eye witness told Crime Alert that, “ when Jamiu got to his seat, he exchanged his glass with Chidi’s and jokingly asked him to drink the content. But Chidi refused, saying he was not used to drinking from other people’s glass. At that point, Jamiu raised alarm and alleged that Chidi wanted to poison him.” Policemen from Idimu were invited and both men taken to the station where 26 -year-old Chidi, according to police sources, admitted to have put some substance into his friend’s drink but maintained that the substance was not meant to kill him. When Crime Alert visited Idimu division, the case was said to have been charged to Ejigbo Magistrate court from where Chidi was granted bail by the presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M. B. Folami, in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. He was however, remanded at the Kirikiri prison pending when he would fulfill the bail conditions, with the case adjourned to August 29, 2012. |

In the United States, while the minimum wage is $1,257 (N191, 667), a US lawmaker earns $15,080 (N2.3m) per month. In the United Kingdom, a lawmaker earns $8,686(N1.3m) monthly while the gross national minimum wage is $1,883 (N283, 333) per month. Also, Nigerian lawmakers earn higher than their counterparts in Sweden. With a monthly pay of $7,707 (N1.2m), a lawmaker in Sweden will need to work for over 12 years to equal what a Nigerian senator earn per annum. The president of the United States takes home an anual salary of $400,000 (N64.156,0m), including a $50,000 expense allowance making the president the highest paid public servant in the US. The $400,000 includes everything and $350,000 out of it is taxable. Selected States (salary per annum) The prime minister of the United Kingdom……USD 226,627.00 French president………………………………….. Effectively, a Nigerian senator was taking home at least $1.40m ($1.28m quarterly allocations + $0.113m regular salaries and allowances) as against the $0.174m an American senator takes home hence a Nigeria senator earns at least 8 times as much as an American senator and more than 3 times the American president. Whereas a Senator in the U.S earns N21, 146,000, the same as a member of the House of Representatives; a UK Member of Parliament earn £64,766 (N14, 896,180) In other words, a Federal Legislator in Nigeria is paid more than double what a Member of British Parliament earns per annum. Senate President David Mark alone takes N250 million quarterly or N83.33 million per month. Senate Deputy President Ike Ekweremadu gets N150 million per quarter or N50 million a month. Mark and Ekweremadu earns in 4 months, six times what the UK Prime Minister earns in a year. David Cameron goes home with £190,000 per anum (N43, 700,000) In a newspaper news article entitled ‘An Assembly for looting’ written by Musikilu Mojeed with Elor Nkereuwem, the authors rightly claimed that each of the 360 members of the House of Representatives were getting N35 million in cash money in quarterly allocation while each of the 109 Senators pockets N48 million each. These allocations have however been slashed by 20% to N27 million ($180,000) and N38 million ($253,333) respectively due to the 20% reduction requested by the late president. |
Mtshewwwmmm... Una dey craze. |
bin gbagbo: yeah, it once happened to me too, i was in bed with my landlady and this unfortunate incident happened. i shit all over the placethats ur opinion dude. |
This story is embarrassing but funny though. it happened that i visited a friend in another town, after hanging out with him, i decied to leave for my town. i used a public transport for the journey. After about one hour into the journey and thirty minutes to my destination, i started hearing some funny noise in my tommy. Before i could say Jack Robinson, am already pressed. I decided to hold it cos am almost home. the worst part is that the closer i get to my house, the more am pressed. About, 500m to my house, i couldnt hold it any more and most of the shit leaked out of my anus. It dripped down my boxers and into my jeans. my question now is; has anyone ever had such experience of shitting in his/her pants? |

Grief and sorrow enveloped yesterday Umuakuru village in Emekuku, Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State following the mysterious death of nine members of a family whose bodies were discovered in their rooms early hours of the day. The family had buried their 98-year-old mother, Mrs Felicia Njoku on Saturday, July 7 in their country home. The deceased include Mr. Pascal Njoku, his wife Juliana and their five children, Ebere (first daughter), Ifunanya (second daughter), Chibueze (son) Jackline (third daughter) and Uchechi (last daughter). Others, who also died along with the Njokus, were Mr. Njoku’s sister, Christina Uba (nee Njoku) and her friend Catherine who accompanied her to the burial. A family relation who pleaded anonymity told Daily Sun that with the burial of their mother over and attendant funeral activities completed, the embattled family retired to bed late in the night but could not wake up the following day. However, fingers were being pointed at a member of the family whom the source said had earlier threatened to deal with the late Njoku and his family over a lingering family problem. Not prepared to take chances over the threat, Njoku’s wife, Juliana reportedly compelled him to relocate herself and their children for safety, but her advice was ignored. When Daily Sun visited the deceased’s residence, their corpses were yet to be taken to the mortuary as armed police and soldiers cordoned off the area to prevent possible breakdown of law and order as the youths from the area were sporting for action. An elderly man from the village told Daily Sun that the corpses would not be removed from the compound until certain rituals were performed to appease the gods of the land. “We have never witnessed this kind of tragedy in our village. I am 90 years of age, this type of calamity had not happened before and something serious must be done to appease the gods.” Another source told Daily Sun that a pastor, who visited the family last Wednesday before the burial, suffered a spiritual attack and was unable to continue the prayer session. A woman, who narrated her ordeal to Daily Sun also, said a day to the burial she defeacated in her dress unknowingly and was rushed to the hospital. Suspicion of the victims’ death from fumes of generating set was dismissed by eyewitness, who said the family had none.

Going back the memory lane, we really spent more for less. I can remeber making a minute call for 60 Naira back then in 2002/2003. Bought my Nokia 1100 for 32,000 Naira. MTN sim was 28,000 Naira. We were charged by minutes and not by seconds. Guys post ur comments and memories of those days. dont 4get the days when call centers use pole and antenna 2get signals or when u need climb an upstair building or a tree in ur village when u are expecting or about to make a call. sometimes, u hv to pay for calls u recieved in a call center. kai, we try ooo. |
