The Onitsha people came from the ancient Benin empire.
Their ancestral home is still at Onuchu-Ugbo (pronounced Onitsha -Ugbo) is a town in Aniocha North in Delta state.
It was from there their early ancestors crossed the river Niger and settled in the island that is today called Onitsha.
Many of their elderly ones still have this history strong in their hearts.

When I was younger, I was deceived to think that there are more literate people in the South West. Now I know better.

Igbos are doing very well with education and everything that concerns literacy. That's why they have a decent society that understands societal events and reacts positively to it.
