Politics / Nigeria Vows No More Vote Delays Despite New Boko Haram Threats by vanen2: 3:11pm On Feb 10, 2015 |
ABUJA: Nigeria insisted on Monday (Tuesday in Manila) it will crush Boko Haram militants and avoid another election postponement, even as violence raged and the Islamists’ leader vowed to defeat a regional force hunting them. National Security Advisor Sambo Dasuki’s comments came as Boko Haram launched another attack in neighboring Niger and reports emerged of 20 people kidnapped in Cameroon, with 12 of them executed. The new polling date is March 28 and April 11. www.manilatimes.net/nigeria-vows-no-more-vote-delays-despite-new-boko-haram-threats/161993/ |

Presidents don't go to war Like Bible kings my friend. They don't do hard labour, they don't wash their cars or load cement or sit down and sell electronics, hawk each day etc . . . . I therefore feel if a youth has failed, he shouldn't just remain in there till he gets old because he is a youth, or from your region, religion or tribe. |

Politics / Meet The World's Poorest President And Why He's Called So!! by vanen2: 10:04pm On Feb 06, 2015 |
José Alberto Mujica Cordano (79) is a Uruguayan politician who has been President of Uruguay since 2010. He has been described as "the world's 'POOREST' president", due to his austere lifestyle and his donation of around 90 percent of his $12,000 (£7,500) monthly salary to charities that benefit poor people and small entrepreneurs. If we need more of anything in this world, it would be more people like this! This man doesn’t put value on his appearance or clothes. He is criticized for his posture and clothes, but Jose puts more value on other things in life instead. There’s no reason for money, fame, and a nice place to sleep when you can be humble and live on a farm. This president lives the life! His part time farming job, keeps him aware of the struggles and life that most other people of his country go though. He also grows and then sells flowers from his farm. You can see him frequently driving his old 1987 Volkswagen Beetle. He doesn’t need a fancy Bentley, because he doesn’t care about having a extravagant appearance. His people are what matters and what matters are his people. Even though he is known as the poorest president, he strongly disagrees. He says, “I’m not the poorest president. The poorest is the one who needs a lot to live… My lifestyle is a consequence of my wounds. I’m the son of my history. There have been years when I would have been happy just to have a mattress.” This president’s example is a testament to how we should live our lives. We don’t need more things to be happy. In fact, some of the most wealthy people in the world, have their wealth stored in the currency of unselfishness, kindness, and true love. The world needs more people like this. Don’t you agree? astoundable.com/worlds-poorest-president/ m.bbc.com/news/magazine-20243493 |
Religion / My Colours Will Be Clear - A Must Read For Nominal Christians by vanen2: 9:26pm On Feb 06, 2015 |
Check out this mission statement by a young African pastor found among his papers in Zimbabwe after he was martyred! I’m a part of the fellowship of the unashamed. The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made. I’m a disciple of His and I won’t look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still. My past is redeemed. My present makes sense. My future is secure. I’m done and finished with low living, sight walking, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, cheap living, and dwarfed goals. I no longer need preeminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I don’t have to be right, or first, or tops, or recognized, or praised, or rewarded. I live by faith, lean on His presence, walk by patience, lift by prayer, and labor by Holy Spirit power. My face is set. My gait is fast. My goal is heaven. My road may be narrow, my way rough, my companions few, but my guide is reliable and my mission is clear. I will not be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deluded or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice or hesitate in the presence of the adversary. I will not negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I won’t give up, shut up, or let up until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid up, and preached up for the cause of Christ. I am a disciple of Jesus. I must give until I drop, preach until all know, and work until He comes. And when He does come for His own, He’ll have no problems recognizing me. My colors will be clear! Are you ready to carry the banner of Christ before you? Are you ready to rise up and become the men and women of God He created you to be? Will your colors be clear? |

If you are not prepared for Christ, you will be Left Behind. No body will enter Heaven by suprise. Jesus said it's better to make Heaven with one eye and one hand than to enter hell with both eyes and hands. This means it's better to suffer pain physically, hunger, persecution, insults and forfeit worldly pleasures etc for the sake OF CHRIST. MAY THIS WORDS OF GOD CHANGE YOU. |

Religion / The Incredible Salmon by vanen2: 1:45pm On Feb 06, 2015 |
The life of a salmon is very interesting. From the fresh water rivers, they go through their normal life cycle as eggs and fingerlings and eventually live in the sea. But once they reach maturity, they have an absolute resolve to go back to their spawning grounds, hundreds or thousands of kilometres away. The trip back to their spawning grounds is a seemingly impossible task, full of dangers, traps, and obstacles, as they will be swimming against the overbearing current of the rivers. Many of the salmon die going back to their grounds – bears and birds of prey catch them and eat them. Some of them hit the rocks, logs, and other obstacles along the way and die. Sometimes they have to swim through shallow waters just to get through their journey. But they never stop or rest from swimming against the current – otherwise it would carry them away from their destination. The incredible things is, in order for them to reach their spawning grounds, they have to jump upstream, up a waterfall and sometimes more than once in their journey. Many of their jumps fail but they persist – until they get through the waterfall, or die trying. Against all odds, many of them eventually reach their spawning grounds and a new generation of salmon eggs are laid and later hatch to become fingerlings. You can probably count yourself lucky not to be a salmon! But you are a Christian. And guess what? The odds are stacked heavily against you if you are resolved to follow God. And there is a very strong current that is sweeping across the face earth. A current of wickedness, immorality, blatant and not so blatant sin. Acceptance and practice of ungodly values and activities pervade the world we live in. I really don’t know who is in a better place – the salmon swimming upstream to their spawning grounds or us Christians trying to live holy lives in an unholy world. Pursue...holiness, without which no one will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14). God desires us to pursue holiness at all costs, because without holiness we cannot see the Lord. Make no mistake about it – the world that we live in is an unholy world. We need to actively pursue holiness if we desire to draw closer to God, because the world will not give us holiness on a silver platter but will put all hindrances and obstacles in front of us. It is extremely difficult to win the battle, and we need to learn from the salmon: to have an absolute resolve, come what may, to reach our “spawning grounds” – heaven. |
Religion / Addiction: The Devil's Tool by vanen2: 1:12pm On Feb 06, 2015 |
“Cravings are a bent form of hunger. The body hungering for something that is poisonous, and like puppets in a play, we dance to its deadly song.” How does Satan gain control? By creating and fulfilling need — creating dependency, and providing the sole source of fulfillment. Alcohol, sex, heroin, caffeine, nicotine, even junk food are prime examples of his destructive tools of control. The list is endless, pornography, sleeping pills, fantasy books, late night infomercials, diets, internet, dating chat lines, even the cable shopping channel. There are therapists who specialize in helping lonely souls overcome shopping channel addiction. People will sit up day and night watching this stuff. It becomes their closest friend, sometimes their only companion. Any form of stimulation, whether drugs, alcohol, porn Internet or a roller coaster ride, falsely heightens sensory awareness through an increase of adrenaline in the blood stream. Heart rate increases, the body tingles, palms sweat, emotions soar and imagination runs wild. This state is always temporary and results in a stimulation deficit causing a feeling of restless emptiness. Sex was created by God. It is given to the husband and wife as a wedding gift to enjoy physical and spiritual union. Between a married couple it is the dance of love. A sweet incense pleasing to God. In marriage, it is one of the most holy acts our flesh can engage in. But Satan has twisted sex into a powerful destructive lever—a tool of control. Respected Christian leaders have been caught with their pants down for all the world to see. Broken men with broken dreams, teaching God, living in sin. Satan laughs as the world asks, is nothing sacred? Who can we trust? Christian ministers, husbands, wives, teachers, politicians, rock stars, and teenagers have come crashing to the ground because of sex. It is a powerful tool because it has been created by a powerful God. In the same way, food in its twisted state, has the power to control. Sugar, salt, and fat–laced foods are physically and emotionally addictive. The average North American Diet is clear evidence of Satan's agenda. Healthy, nutrient–rich foods, twisted into addictive tools of control. Cravings are a bent form of hunger. The body hungering for something that is poisonous, and like puppets in a play, we dance to its deadly song. Promising satisfaction, only to end in sickness, suffering, and a hellish cycle of dependence. Culture is in a constant state of evolution. Directing that evolution is the key to power. A force that impacts the unconscious movements of the herd. Man is a creature of habit; we live our lives in patterns. The world is changing and we are changing with it. Changes that affect how we think and feel. It seems we have been caught in a tide, so busy swimming to keep up there is no time to stop, think, and consider the direction life has taken. And as the years roll by, we wonder where the time has gone, too frightened to even consider how meaningless our lives have become. 1 Like |
