One of Nigeria’s largest online shopping sites, Konga.com, has been ranked as the most visited website in Nigeria in the latest Alexa rankings. This puts Konga.com ahead of the widely read Nairaland forum, the Linda Ikeji blog and other e- commerce players in Nigeria today, according to Business Week. Konga is ranked at number 8 on Alexa.com and number 7 on Similar web. The only companies ahead of Konga in the rankings are international websites and social media companies such as Google, Facebook and Twitter. The recent data on Alexa and Similar web shows that engagement and time spent on Konga.com is 50 per cent more than that of its closest e- commerce competitors. Konga also appears to enjoy more time spent on the site by customers with lower bounce rates. This is coming on the heels of the company’s disclosure that it enjoyed very successful business results in 2014, following strategic choices by the company’s leadership team. Speaking on its ranking, PR Head for Konga, Olatomiwa Akande, said the e-retail site is on the way to realising its mission of being the engine of trade and commerce in Africa. “We are meeting the daily needs of more and more Nigerians from our array of affordable products.” Akande reiterated the company’s commitment to continuous improvement of the e-commerce platform and to supporting sales on the site. She spoke of the company’s pleasure with the volume and variety of high quality goods traded on the platform. “With over 150,000 items available to customers, Konga has now become a one stop shop for meeting the fashion, gadgetry and household needs of Nigerian,” she said. President Goodluck Jonathan has assured Nigerians that his administration is determined to reduce hunger and poverty in the country. “As President, my goal is to work hard so that no citizen is hungry. We are making progress in eliminating hunger. The report from GHI corroborates our own records which show that our food import bill has reduced from 1.1 Trillion Naira in 2009 to 634 Billion Naira in 2014 and falling,” he said. The president said he is impressed with the statistics from the International Food Policy Research Institute which shows that the country is making progress on the annual Global Hunger Index. He noted that his administration has been able to reduce hunger by cutting out the middle men and empowering 14 million Nigerian farmers (of which 2 million are women) with fertilizers directly. “We are not only reducing hunger in our nation, we are also reducing our dependence on foreign nations for our food security while at the same time creating wealth at the grass roots of Nigeria,” he added. The president made the disclosure on his verified facebook account, Goodluck Jonathan. It will be recalled that he also shared some of his achievements with his friends on the social media, with a promise to keep them with up to date account of his stewardship in the last four years. His political party, the People Democratic Party, PDP, via its official twitter handle, @PdpNigeria, is also promoting the achievements of the president. The party is sharing wit its 31, 000 followers what the president has achieved across the states, especially in meeting the Millennium Developmental Goals (MDGs). In a related development his Special Assistant on New Media, Reno Omkri, took to twitter to share a photo of the 10 lane Abuja Highway completed by Jonathan administration. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/01/goal-ensure-no-nigerian-hungry-jonathan/ 1 Like |

ceo4eva:GOODLUCK WELCOMED TO MAKURDI WITH BROOMS! President Gej's convoy proceeding from Airport to IBB square venue for his campaign rally in company with Pdp State and National chairman and several others, the Dignitaries were welcomed to Mkd by students of BSU, market women & the general public with BROOMS WAVING @ d president's Convoy which signifies CHANGE. The Governor Rt. Hon. Dr Gabriel Torwua Suswam could not help the situation turned to the President and said this Is one of my major problem in the state, these people are sponsored by opposition party. According to Benue Motorcycle Associtn Chair Comr Akaa, even when he offered #2000 to Okada Riders they refused to turn up for the rally. He further explained how the neighbouring local govt's okada rider were used. Speaking with one Okada rider who was simply Known as Freeman stated that, most of d okada riders are graduate whom out of bad governance settle for okada as means of surviving and are very angry with the present Pdp administration and can't accept anything from them describing pdp as evil People. On the part of The students, comr David Gbasha a final yr student of political science dept denied being sponsored by any politician stating that pdp themselves know we are tired of them because our normal scholarship has become a previlege, our parents are dying of hunger for non payment of salaries/ pension, goodluck commissioned water project here yet we buy water from commercial tanker drivers, our polytechnic/ colleges of educations have spent over 6months at home with all these mess how could rational thinking human being support d pdp goverment? 3 Likes 1 Share |
