The "No Active Case" development in our dear State is a good news but it's not over, yet

With the upcoming activation of the testing facility at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital in Awka, our testing capacity, confirmation of cases and treatment will surely increase.

We have also taken a huge step to increase capacity in sample collection and local testing in the 21 local government areas of the State. This will ultimately help to curb community spread of the virus.

In collaboration with WHO and NCDC, we just trained 42 medical personnel as sample collectors for Covid-19 to equip them with requisite skills for sample collection at the grassroots. We hope to roll out this team within the week..

We had earlier established Covid-19 task force in the 21 local governments and 326 wards of the State

These sample collectors will compliment the work of the LGA and Ward Covid-19 task force and help strengthen the surveillance system that we have put in place

Angola has recorded its first two deaths from coronavirus, out of the seven confirmed cases in the southwestern African country, health minister said Sunday.

“We now have seven confirmed cases and unfortunately two people lost their lives between last night and this morning,” Health Minister Silvia Lutucuta told a news conference.

The fatalities were both Angolan citizens — a 59-year-old, who was regularly resident in Portugal,but returned home on March 12 and a 37-year-old who had returned home from Lisbon the following day.
