The thing is most of these openings are mostly for the contract guys already working them that they want to convert to employees. So because of the company's standard of advertising openings, they need to first advertise the openings, the contract guys also apply like everyone else, then HR sends their names only to the various departments for interviews and they become employees.

I really don't think so...they haven't gotten back to anyone yet, so it's possible they are stalling their recruitment process for some reasons

My application on the career website reads 'Application saved'.

It should also be under submitted applications

Not sure of their methods. But you are right regarding them being strict with the recruitment. It's Shell, so it's no surprise.

It will be nice if they are a bit faster with the process as some of us still prefer the shell offer over others.
