Where do you intend to study Nigeria or Abroad ? I'd advice you to study Mathematics as studying computer science is a waste of time. Pick up any book on programming C and you are good to go.

I think what is really needed is a dedicated website/forum run by developers for developers geared towards Nigerians. For this I can provide the hardware and network bandwidth provided there is enough interest and seriousness from those who will run it.

My advice to anyone who wants to learn UNIX and by UNIX I mean any POSIX compliant SYS V, BSD or LINUX variants is to install it and go straight to http://www.ugu.com/sui/ugu/show?I=help.beginners . It will make learning easier and less painful. And one more piece of advice, learn to program in C and you will truly be a master of any UNIX domain.

Yes you can if you have direct access to an operators smsc via SMPP or some other protocols. You should checkout http://www.simplewire.com, they provide very affordable sms sdks and have agents in Nigeria. In my opinion they make the best ESME/SMPP platform in the world.
