According to Wikipedia, a job is anything a person does regularly in exchange for money. We are going to use this definition of a job as the standard definition even as we research and create a list of the highest paying jobs in Nigeria. What may surprise you is that some of these jobs have little or no entry barrier while others are very delicate and require years upon years of training.

In creating this list, we took into consideration the average annual take home pay for each profession, we considered the delicacy of the tasks they handle and how desired they are in their place of employment. We also considered how many millionaires each profession has created. We then narrowed our list by researching and comparing the findings of other researchers. This list may not be precise but it is completely ‘true’.

The ten highest paying jobs in Nigeria are:

1. CEO/BUSINESS MOGUL
One of the most demanding jobs of our day is the job of the CEO or a business owner. The CEO is answerable for the success or failure of any company. They oversee the company’s operations, production, marketing and human resource. Generally, the CEO is the company. As such they are equally rewarded for the heavy crown they wear. Median Salary of a CEO is about N40 million.

2. PASTOR
There is no way around this. Nigerians appreciate their religious leaders — especially pastor. In fact we idolize them and shower them with gifts and money. A powerful ‘beginner’ in this circle would take home up to N5 million and ‘established’ names rake in 9 times as much.

3. PETROLEUM ENGINEER
The place of the Petroleum Engineer in the world today is prominent because the world has a high demand for petroleum. These engineers, who design, test and deploy means of extracting petroleum are revered and paid well. An average salary will be N12 million.

4. AERONAUTIC ENGINEER
Aeronautical engineers are ‘airplane engineers’. In Nigeria, their main job is the maintenance of aircrafts technology. Their job is very delicate because the safety of the nation’s aircrafts, military or commercial, rests on their shoulders. The lives and safety of everyday traveler depends on them so aeronautic engineers get up to N11 million.

5. SURGEON
Everybody seems to understand why a surgeon needs to be well paid since a surgeon is responsible for identifying patients who requires surgery, perform the operation, and provide patients with care and treatment after the surgery. Since people figuratively and literally ‘lay’ their lives at his table, the surgeon is well compensated and takes about N11 million too.

6. PILOT
Choosing who come first between the pilots and the surgeon was hard. Pilots fly planes. They convey people from one location to another in the most delicate means of transportation. They get paid about N9 million.

7. TELECOMS ENGINEER
Telecoms engineers make it possible for you to make calls and browse from your phone. If you know how mobile networks work you will understand why the Telecoms engineer is well-regarded.

8. INVESTMENT BANKER
Investment bankers manage your ‘happiness and comfort’ as such we reward them proportionately. What price is your happiness?

9. MUSICIAN
A musician’s job is straightforward: they make music that entertains, informs, shape and sometimes change our ways of thinking. It is not uncommon to find people idolize musicians like they do religious leaders as such, we pay musicians from N600,000 to N2 million for their presence at our events

10. PROGRAMMERS
Programmers are problem solvers. They figure out how to make computers solve our problems. Programmers are among the top 5 best paid professions in developed worlds but in naija they are probably the least appreciated financially. They get about N5 million yearly.

Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Andrew Felix Kaweesi, was shot dead by unknown gunmen this yesterday morning. The spokesman for Uganda's police force left his home in the capital Kampala but was killed alongside his bodyguard and driver on the road.

He was wayla!d this morning by yet unknown gunmen. Everyone in the vehicle were killed. His wife and daughter can be seen in the pictures below as they were taken out of their residence....

Many Nigerian students spend the first two years of their stay in the university playing.





Teenagers who have been caged for long use the opportunity to unleash the demons in them and know what it feels like to be free; afterwards, they settle down to the school business and find ways of making something good out of their lives.

Lots of emphasis is always la!d on finishing with a ‘good grade’. Finishing with a good grade in Nigeria means either having a first class or 2.1 as a university graduate; anything short of this is considered not good enough.

Also, most of the jobs applied for have certain requirements that the applicants are expected to have. The labour market favours those with good grades over people with 2.2.

This is not to mean that graduates who have a third-class or a pass do not get good jobs at the end of the day. The thing done by the graduates after leaving school will determine how far they will go in getting their dream jobs.

Check out the things you can do to improve your chances of getting a good job if you graduated with a 2.2.

1. Change your mentality

You need to let go of the limiting thoughts that could drag you back.

Finishing with a 2.2 is not the end of the world. Some graduates in the past refused to attend their convocation ceremonies simply because they did not do well by their own standards.

You are who you think you are; do not allow some grade written on a paper to prevent you from moving forward and doing something meaningful with your life. You attitude towards life must change if you want to leave your footsteps in the sands of time.

2. Discover what you are good at

If you are a Nigeria you must have heard this popular phrase ‘Exam is not the true test of someone’s ability’. You might have finished with a 2.2 by not doing so well in a course.

Most people make a particular grade by few points. Do not dwell on this grade, find what you are good at and see where it takes you to. What are your unique attributes? Lay more emphasis on them when applying for jobs.

3. Boost your confidence and communication skills

Those who graduate with a 2.1 may have a big problem getting a job if they do not know how to sell themselves.

To get a good job with a 2.2 grade, you have to develop some skills that will be highly useful to the companies you are applying to. Improve on your communication skills and you have a great chance of convincing an employer to give you the job.

4. Add professional certifications to your grade

Instead of drooling on the grade you have made in school, you can make plans to boost your qualifications. Take short certificate courses and improve yourself the best way you can.

You will be surprised to see how far you will go when you do this. Graduates with professional certifications stand a better chance of getting jobs irrespective of their grades in school.

5. Do all it takes to gain experience

At this point, you should not focus on making money if you want to make it big. Do not let your ego overrule when offered job in smaller companies. Jump at those opportunities because they will prepare you for the road ahead.

It is a learning curve; whatever experience you gain there may give you an edge over those who finished with good grades.

6. Drop your CV everywhere

Your CVs are to be shared everywhere; do not see this as a waste of paper and money. You never can tell when the hard copies would be picked by some interested employers.

You stand to lose more if you do not risk taking a risk. Make yourself available for every job till you get to the stage where you can make a choice and turn down offers.

7. Network

Be opened to networking in order to meet important people in the labour market.

The social media should be used as a tool for meeting important contacts that can change your life forever. Do not appear less serious on it; there are a couple of pages that you can sell yourself and make employers get attracted to your profile.

LinkedIn, Facebook and other pages can connect you with important people in the society. Be available to go for conferences and have the contacts of these people. You may need them to call a shot on your behalf one day.

8. Pray for GRACE

There are some job applications that grace will take over for you if you pray.

Grace makes the unqualified qualified. Finishing with a 2.2 should not discourage you and prevent you from soaring high in life. Apply for jobs and ask for divine intervention at every point in time.

Some graduates have gotten six figure jobs in places where they do not know anyone and are not qualified. When the world expects you to know someone, tell them you know God and see what happens next.

The CW has just ordered a fifth season of The 100 which is to premiere sometime in the 2017-18 season.

CW president Mark Pedowitz made the renewal announcement Friday, though an episode count for Season 5 has yet to be determined.

Based on the book series by Kass Morgan, “The 100” is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Alloy Entertainment, Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios with executive producers Jason Rothenberg and Leslie Morgenstein (“The Vampire Diaries”). The series stars Eliza Taylor, Paige Turco, Bob Morley, Marie Avgeropoulos, Christopher Larking, Devon Bostick, Isaiah Washington, Henry Ian Cusick, and Zach McGowan.

The 100 is the ninth CW series to score a renewal for the 2017-18 season, joining the likes of Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Supernatural, Jane the Virgin, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Riverdale. No word yet on the fates of iZombie and The Originals, both of which have new seasons on the way. Additionally, freshmen series Frequency and No Tomorroware not expected to return, though neither has been officially cancelled.

A 16-year-old youngster from New Jersey is on his way to becoming the first black student ever to build a nuclear fusor.

The first part of this prototype is already built, and Steven Udotong raised the needed remaining $1,500 to finish the fusor in less than one month, through a GoFundMe page he created.

Once the whole fusor is finished, Steven will enter it in science fairs and competitions, which will help him achieve eventual scholarships.


This 16-year-old boy has a bright scientific future ahead of him.
Steven was one of the three students from New Jersey to be accepted into the Yale Young Global Scholar Program, which allowed him to pursue the engineering workshop at the Singapore campus last summer.

He is now a high school junior, and hopes his nuclear energy construction will ultimately inspire people, at a local and even national level, to adopt cleaner energy sources.

Steven is convinced minorities have opportunities in diverse fields, if they are up to challenges. “I’m proof that there are many ways for minorities to pursue success. Sports and music are not the only avenues for us… Rather, there’s a need for us to participate in academia, business, art, law, medicine, and yes, nuclear energy,” he said in an interview. His older brother Emmanuel is proof of this, being a computer science student at Princeton University.

The teenager hopes the nuclear fusor project will become an example of academic excellence, for other black students to look upon.


Steven comments he started to get curious about nuclear energy after at a chemistry class last year. “I decided to do more research and I soon learned that I could actually make a nuclear fusor. That sparked my interest. I want people to know that there are alternate methods for obtaining power and energy,” he said.

“Nuclear energy is a lot safer than people think,” Steven thinks, so he plans to continue with this quest in the years to come. He firmly believes there has to be “more serious action towards adopting alternative energy sources.”

The 72-year old Indian woman who last year made headlines after giving birth to a baby, is now dwelling on the pros and cons of having given birth at her age. “It's been harder than I thought,” she admits.

Daljinder Kaur developed high blood pressure and her joints weakened, soon after her first child was born last April. The baby is healthy, but suffers from low weight for his age. Even though Armaan Singh will turn one in less than one month, he only weighs 15 lbs.

Now that the baby is starting to crawl, Kaur comments it is hard for her to cope, but firmly says she has no regrets, and both she and her husband, 80-year old Mohinder Singh Gill, are trying their best to raise her on their own, without any outside help.

“I have to take care of my health but I have to care of Armaan too. Since he’s been crawling I’m on my hands and knees and it’s hard. My body can’t take it,” Kaur explains. She adds she feels very tired most of the time. Her husband also helps, but always within his boundaries due to his advanced age.

The couple comes from Amritsar, in the northern Punjab region of India. They had been married for 46 years before conceiving Armaan, through IVF method.

As easy as it may seem to do, very few of us brush our teeth as well as we could. Thankfully, where there are mistakes, there are ways to fix them.

1. You pick the wrong brush.

How do you choose from the mind-melting selection of brushes at your local supermarket?

Kimberly Harms, a dentist from Farmington, MN, says make sure your brush can cover the places that need covering. That’s everywhere you should be able to reach with a toothbrush. It can be a power toothbrush or a manual one. But there is one rule Harms says isn’t negotiable.

“The one thing that we really insist upon -- it’s very important -- is it has to have soft bristles,” she says. “The bristles need to be able to bend, to kind of get right under that gum.”

The size of the brush’s head is important, too, especially if you have a smaller mouth. Brushes also have various sizes of handles and different angles. Some are more flexible than others.

But the critical part, dentists agree, is the bristles that remove the bacteria and loosen plaque from your teeth and gums. That plaque can cause gum disease and lead to tooth decay.

“Sometimes people think that the harder the bristles are, the more they’ll clean. But that’s not something that’s necessarily true,” says Maricelle Abayon, a dentist with the Eastman Institute for Oral Health in Rochester, NY.

“Soft bristles clean very effectively, more than the hard bristles. The hard bristles actually can wear down your tooth structure.”

Look for the American Dental Association seal of approval on your new brush, too.

2. You go to town on your teeth.

When it comes to brushing, harder isn’t better.

“I think one of the biggest issues that people have is that they try to scrub their teeth too hard. They feel like if they really don’t go at the teeth, like they’re trying to clean the grout in their bathroom tile, that they’re not doing the right job,” says Matt Messina, a dentist from Fairview Park, OH.

Plaque is soft and loose, so you don’t have to scrub, Messina says.

“The best way to fix this is to take away the mental issue of ‘scrub’ and ‘scrub brush’ and replace it with the word ‘massage.’”


3. You rush.

You should brush at least twice a day for 2 minutes each time. But you’re late for school or work. Or you want to get to bed. Once in a while, you need to cut that brushing short.

Don’t.

“We used to suggest, back in the day, we’d talk about using an egg timer or something like that,” Messina says. “But everybody has this wonderful thing on their body all the time now called a cell phone. If you want to set a timer and set it for 2 minutes, that’s great.

“I see a lot of young people walking around with headphones on,” she says. “If you can leave your headphones in and put on a song, your average pop song’s in the 2-3 minute range. So if you brush while you listen to one of your favorite songs, you’ve probably been in there long enough.”

A group of Nigerian students came together to create Africa’s first electric car from scratch, using locally sourced materials.


Unilag students have built first 'electric car' in Africa

The project began was said to have commenced in 2014 and by 2015 the students had built a zero emission electric powered prototype vehicle called the ‘DOVE P1’. Olukoya Olusanya and Maduka Smart pioneered the project, and enlisted other students to help.

However, during an interview they revealed that ‘DOVE’ is an acronym for Designed for Zero Vehicle Emission. The electric car was made of a fibre glass body which weighs about 200kg and is capable of speeds of up to 35 km/h.

A 21-year old armed robbery suspect identified as Christopher Ohiememe, who is an undergraduate of the University of Benin, has confessed how he loves r*ping married women and children as a way of fortifying his spiritual powers.
The Edo State-born student who was arrested alongside three other suspects by a team of operatives of the Lagos State Anti-Robbery Squad led by CSP Umar Paiko in Lagos recently, said he derives sexual satisfaction from r*ping married women and female children as it gives him spiritual strength.
The suspect said he was told r*ping married and underage women will give him strength to commit all sorts of criminal act while joining a secret cult.
He also revealed that he was initiated into the secret cult by his late father at a tender age when he was in secondary school so that he will not be intimidated by his friends.
Ohiememe said though his father introduced him and trained him to be a hardened criminal, he however, did not spare his family members, including his father while carrying out his operations.
The suspect further confessed to had participated in several robbery operations, raping, kidnapping and other criminal activities involving prominent Nigerians.
He said, “I was involved in so many criminal activities in the south east and south west including high level kidnappings across Nigeria.”
He was arrested after a tip-off by one of his gang members arrested by SARS during separate operations in Ajah area of Lagos State.
They were later arrested at Okokomaiko area and were then taken to SARS in Ikeja.

Faith Ayeh, who was allegedly kidnapped by her parents’ maid, Mary, in the Iju Ishaga area of Lagos State, has been found.





Saturday Punch reports that the victim was found in Abeokuta, Ogun State by a man, who had read an earlier report by about her disappearance.



The resident was said to have called Faith’s parents, who then raced to the area to bring her home.

It was earlier reported that Mary was employed by the Ghanaian family about five months ago to assist with house chores at their home on Kudirat Abiola Estate, Akute Road, Iju Ishaga.

She was also reported to be assisting the mother of the house, Glory, with her frozen foods business on the street.

However, the suspect allegedly went out with the victim last Thursday, claiming Glory sent them on errands when she was challenged by the family driver.

Their whereabouts had remained unknown since then.

Faith’s father, Paul, revealed that his daughter was found by a man who read the report.

He said, “The man called us that he found my daughter on the road. He said he saw her picture in your (PUNCH) newspaper and he got my number to call us so we could come and take her.

“My wife said she would go and we had to get some policemen to follow her there. The police were able to arrest two suspects and the case was taken to Abeokuta, before it was transferred to the anti-kidnapping section of the Surulere Police Division.”

Asked if the maid had been arrested and what the daughter said, he said his daughter and wife were on their way home, adding that he would call back as soon as they reached the house.

According to Saturday Punch, While his wife’s contact could not be reached on the telephone, he had yet to also call back as of press time.

But the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said it was a case of absconding, adding that Faith fled her parents’ home on her own volition.

She said, “What happened was that the girl, Faith, claimed that her mother was too harsh on her and she decided to run away with the housemaid, who was eloping with her boyfriend. When they got to Abeokuta, the home of the boyfriend, the man decided to habour the two of them. It was there that he was sleeping with the maid, Mary, who had equally been declared missing by her parents.

“The boyfriend, however, started having an affair with Faith as well, which got the maid jealous. As a way of revenging, she decided to call Faith’s parents to tell them their whereabouts. That was how the secret was leaked. The matter is under investigation.”

A London TV worker claims she was dismissed from her job at a Soho production company for being “too good looking”.

Emma Hulse says she was sent home from her freelancing shift at the central London TV company by a manager who told her: “You should be on a catwalk”.

The 24-year-old, who lives in Mayfair, said she was only five minutes into her eight-hour shift when her boss told her to leave.

Company UNIT TV, based on Great Marlborough Street, accepted the incident happened and have since dismissed the employee who was allegedly involved, who had only been working there for three months.

Ms Hulse told the Standard: “We were supposed to finish at 6pm and I got there for 9.30am and when I got there this other runner started explaining to me what I should do.

“Then they send me on a run. Then my agent text me that I’m no longer required.

“I got there and spoke to the line manager and he asked me, ‘are you a model? Are you not doing catwalks, why are you not at the front of house?’

“I was wearing a lipstick but from my perspective I was not inappropriate. I was wearing a shirt and trousers. I really didn’t think I looked inappropriate.

“Then he took my number, he suggested we go for a drink.

A man from the Changchun area of China proved that he can be inventive when thinking of a gift for his girlfriend, as he gave her a bouquet of rose flower made from bank notes totaling 10,000 yuan (£1,168) and handed it to her.

According to QQ.com, the man went into a flower shop in Changchun, Jilin province with a bag of 10,000 yuan (£1,168) on 13 February and asked the owner of the shop to make him a bouquet of roses using the notes.

A young inspiring girl has been found in Cross River State engaging in a roadside business to see herself through school.

The young girl is simply identified as Vicky, who sells newspapers to pay her fees.

According to Vanguard, Vicky, who said she started selling newspapers when she was nine years old and in Junior Secondary, JSS III in WAPI, disclosed that she made on the average N500 and N600 proceeds daily from the venture.





“I also gave the regular (daily) for N50.00 and sports newspaper for N20.00 to those who came here to read and return the paper and still sold the paper to those who wanted to buy,” she said.

She said her school runs two sessions and she attends the afternoon session, which affords her time to sell newspapers in the morning before leaving for school.

“Many prominent people live in this area, commissioners, House of Assembly members, judges, businessmen and even the present governor of our state before he became governor, Prof. Ben Ayade, used to buy papers from me,”
she further said.
On how she gets the papers to sell, Vicky said she wakes up at 5.30 every morning and heads to Bassey Duke Street, the newspaper distribution point to collect the day’s papers when they arrive from Port Harcourt and Asaba every morning and by 8.00 am, she was already at her stand where some customers were waiting for her to arrive with the day’s papers.

“If there is a breaking news, before I get here, people are waiting for me, but some days, especially during the rainy season, because of the bad roads, papers arrive here late, except during weekends whether bad road or no bad road, the van drivers do manage to get here on time since the papers are produced early,”
she said.

When she was asked what she does with the money, or if she hands it to her parents, the the fair-skinned girl retorted “No,” adding that she used the money to meet her needs in school and pay her fees, except when there was urgent need at home and her parents had no money, then she could help out.

Her words:
“I use the money to meet my school needs, but sometimes, I help at home when my parents ask me to, may be they have no immediate cash at that time.”

She said she was yet to decide if she would continue being a vendor after her education, but for now, the business was quite lucrative.

Gone are the days when people thought women were inherently squeamish about sex. And good riddance. It's so obvious, it seems silly to even say it, but women are every bit as interested in having sex as men -- and just as comfortable with the nitty gritty.

But sometimes, things happen during sex that can take even the most sexually confident of us aback. There are sounds, and smells and feelings that make us stop and think ... "Uh, what just happened?" "Is that normal?"

So we asked a team of sex-health experts to spill: What are some typical things that happen to women during sex, but that you never really hear people cop to or wonder about? And what, if anything, do they mean? Here's what they said.

1. You're Dry:

It's very common for women to become (or stay) dry or irritated during sex. In fact, roughly one-third of young women say they experience vaginal dryness. But lubrication is one of the keys to a pleasurable, comfortable sexual encounter. The best way to get there, Good ol' fashioned pre-intimacy. Vibrators can help too.

If dryness is taking a more serious toll on your sex life or making you uncomfortable throughout the day (which can be a particular problem as women age), make an appointment with your health care provider. Vaginal dryness affects many women, although they frequently don't bring up the topic with their doctors.

2. You Have 'The Moment'

No, not an orgasm, but that moment -- seconds or minutes after sex begins -- when you just somehow know how the rest of the encounter is going to play out for you, good, bad or otherwise.

When it comes to sex, women often start in a state of sexual neutrality. Sometimes, you start engaging in sexual activity and right away, you think, 'This is going to work.

Other times, you sense that what's coming next will be nice, or fun, but that you won't quite get there. Women are pretty intuitive about whether they're going to be able to achieve orgasm.

3. You Feel Like Peeing

If during certain sexual positions, like doggie-style, you [have] a need-to-pee feeling, it's completely normal. Those sensations are usually from center of gravity stimulation, which can lead to female ejaculation. Ejaculate comes out of the urethra and is clear and odorless.

That said, it is entirely possible -- and not atypical -- for women to pee and orgasm at the same time. Some women find they pee a little when they laugh, sneeze or orgasm, particularly after giving birth. It's also easy to confuse the feeling of an impending orgasm with the urge to pee. Women who do not experience urinary incontinence at other times, but feel the urge to pee when approaching orgasm, may be getting confusing messages from very sensitive parts of their bodies. If fears about going to the bathroom during sex are going to hold you back in any way, simply go before you get started.

4. You Scream

Sure, there's often a performance aspect to screaming during sex. A small 2011 study found that 66 percent moan during sex to speed up their partner's climax, while 87 percent did so to boost their partners' self-esteem. But making noises can be a great way to be clear about what you want in bed, and "there are many women who need to be vocal to help themselves achieve orgasm. There is a difference between faking it like a screamer, and being in the moment and expressing how you're feeling, which can increase sound. Some women are quiet during sex, others are loud -- it's as simple as that.

5. You 'Fart'

Vaginal flatulence is not actually the same thing as passing gas -- it's just air being released through the vagina -- but it does make a very similar sound. Dubbed "queefing," it occurs when air gets trapped in the vagina and while there isn't really any way to prevent it, avoiding certain sex positions may help, whereas switching positions several times may increase the chances of it happening. Better yet, just don't sweat it. Sex can be awkward -- we queef ... bump body parts and miss the mark, It's completely natural for it not to be seamless, and your best bet is to laugh it off and keep going.

6. You're Distracted

Sometimes when you're having sex, you're totally in the moment --incapable of thinking about anything else. Other times, you're thinking about approximately 12 million other things. Women report that they're pretty easily distracted by what is happening in their life. They wonder if something is wrong with them. Why am I thinking about that? Why am I not able to focus?

Sometimes, it is what it is. In other words, women shouldn't beat themselves up if other elements of their lives creep into their bedroom. But if distraction becomes a frequent issue, there are mindfulness interventions women can try -- most of which they practice on their own -- that can make them feel more connected and focused.

7. You Get A Headache



A sex headache is usually a dull ache in your head or neck that builds as sexual excitement mounts, or it can be a more sudden pain, often accompanying orgasm. Most are nothing to worry about, but sudden-onset ones may be a sign of something more serious. In rare situations, some women have a severe headache at the time of intercourse, which is possibly related to changes in blood pressure. If you do have it, you’re not crazy, but do mention it to your healthcare provider.
