Hi!

1. I flight at 37 weeks. It's better to check pregnancy policy with air company. Anyway, you can ask your doctor to write reference letter with another date. Just 2 weeks ago my friend flight from Malaysia to Chicago on 10th of March and she also had DUE on 10th of March shocked So crazy! She landed, slept one night and next day deliver. I think 2-3 weeks before DUE is fine

2. I would stay for a night, but if you take hotel near by airport to not spend money for taxi

3. I have never stayed in Houston, but I stayed in Extended Stay in Phoenix. It wasn't good. I would advise you to rent that accommodation for 5-7 days and may be try to find out new place. Id you won't have any intention, just stay there longer..

Good luck!

osat82:
hello everyone

pls can anyone help me with the following questions

1. is it advisable to travel at 34wks on a 23hr flight to US?

2. my visa application was denied at my first application(was planning to go to Ohio),it was approved when I applied the 2nd time however the VO was surprised i plan to go to houston and not ohio(i told her i got a cheaper option, and the doctor was able to give me all the required documentation),and she said i av to make sure i go to houston and if i'm at a different POE i could be turned back. So now i plan to go through JFK and take a local flight to houston, but I want to spend a night in new york to rest from the 23hr flight. Is this advisable?

3. I have narrowed my accommodation search to intown suite a couple of minutes from the hospital and doctor's office, the reviews on intown suite's website are very good not a single bad comment, but on other accommodation booking sites the reviews are not so good, So please has anyone ever stayed in any of the intown suite in houston?wat was the experience like?
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by Varvara: 11:35am On Mar 23, 2016
You cannot imagine smiley They gave visa to my husband, when we had bought tickets for me and newborn to come back home. So it was senseless. Then it was expired after one year and we applied again. There was one more round of administrative processing around 5 months and then he got visa for 3 years. And then I get pregnant. In that time we'll flight together. Lucky we are cheesy

And thank you for support!

nefertitiram:
I remember varvara. she gave feedback about her visa hustles (i think she was on admin review with her hubby). @twizzie, she even try pass many 9ja people sef! cut her small slack na

Hi!
It's not about me.
I'm russian staying in Malaysia. I did all feedback that I could do 1,5 year ago.
Even I was bringing medicine to unknown Nigerian given birth woman in MIHS.

I am still in contact with that 2 girls.

twizzie:
Been a while I commented though I usually pop in to read and keep myself updated(even though I have no intentions of having another baby..lol)

For people that use agents, not everyone has the time to read up like we do here...I remember begging my cuz just to read Nairaland when she wanted to go for hers..I even offered to help in my way, but she still went ahead to pay D***x* even when everyone knows she comes here for info... For some, it's just pure laziness...
It's their hustle and oyinbo them dey build career on top this thing, so Lady G, abeg leave them...Their money to spend...My own is just that use correct agents..Not all these useless guys that cook up stories when filling your forms.. I once used an agent but my husband insisted we get a copy of d form he filled even though we filled the form together. Just highlight all, copy and paste on Ms word.

I remember you Vavarah...You aren't Nigerian..Indian or Asian... You stayed in Intown abi whats the name of that lodge again...Mamas that stayed there complained how you used to snub them then even though people really helped you on this blog...
Y'all be coming to Nairaland for info, y'all don't give back and y'all come back expecting more info when y'all need more...Kontinu.

Congrats to all mamas and papas...sleepless nights ti take over. hehehe...

The leaky tribe, so sorry ehn, God will replenish your purse...My kid sister once fell for these people..The poor girl had just N150 with her as T.fare and they collected it with her Nokia 1100 phone, plus her BOWEN id card..(Wetin dem wan take that one do) They now told the poor girl to be praying as she was walking.. Na so she walked from secretariat Alausa to Ojodu o.. Good thing you reported to the police already..She should be used as bait for them later on but we know our Naija Force..Very pathetic..

Hi!
I paid 1000 dollars in Extended Stay per month and it was disgusting and smelly. I really don'y understand for what I paid. And I have checked rent house in sarasota right now. There are a lot of options with swimming pool with the same price per month. So I hope we can deal with that.

happytbaby:
Yes, I have heard of Sarasota, it is cheap, sounded nice but my Aunty that wanted to use it couldn't find reasonable cheap accommodation.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by Varvara: 5:01am On Mar 23, 2016
Oh really? So nice cheesy
It was me, thats right. I'm so glad to find you. Where did you deliver last time? When is your next DUE?

I have send already mail in Sarasota to clarify fees for doctor and pediatritian. If they don't answer, I will call them this Friday. The difference in hours doesn't allow me to call early this week.

What another delivery options do you have?

On the one hand, I'm happy that MIHS doesn't accept anymore international patients, it means that I don't need to come back there shocked
Totally desert!

vcole:
hello Varvara! i remember you from pt 1. how you told the VO when he was probing during your interview that us citizenship was one of your reasons for travelling cheesy
We arrived the states on d same day back in 2014 and had our babies about the same time although i wasn't in Phoenix. Congrats on your new baby! i pray you have a smooth and safe pregnancy and delivery.
Unfortunately mihs stopped taking international patients. I looked at the sarasota package, not bad. maybe check for doctors first and compare prices?
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by Varvara: 4:54am On Mar 23, 2016
Thank you very much for that information. From the last parts of that forum I have discovered that Houston is very hard POE. Everybody faced there with problems and second inspection

anonymousmum:
Hello Varvara..welcome back! I don't think anyone has heard of this new hospital that you mentioned.

As far as I know MIHS does not take international clients anymore.

You can look for other hospitals in Houston that will not be as hot as Phoenix..

sessibasi: Yes it's western passport center. But b careful with d ride. Cuz all d people I heard dat went to tucson d cheapest fare I heard was $300 to and fro. $70 sounds fishy so do ur research well before u go for it.

Plus people saying one area is good or bad, we all shud just pray for God's safety, d place u think is safe might just av a psyco living there, so it's just God's grace. People told me crossland area isn't safe but trust me people are living and staying there and nothing happened to them. Same with the hospital, we all take bus to the hospital alone and nothing happened, am back home with my baby and some of my other friends also and we are all fine...everyone shud just b careful no matter d state dey decide to have their baby.
I proposed her that price, 70 usd and she accepted, but I will read more review about their service. Thank you for your worries!

It's true about Crossland. In the public trasport there are a lot of weird and inadequate people, but they don't touch you. I just wonder how many psycho here ))) But Crossland is very safe and quiet place. Almost each day I come back in dark time and no any accidents.

Sessibasi, do we have any infant seat car available in Crossland McDowell?

sessibasi: Hi dearie. I went to Tucson for my baby's passport cuz I dint av time at hand again. Luckily d cab guy dat took me to vitals office advised I cud take a bus to and fro tucson cuz cab to tucson is like $300 if u get a good bargain. I booked my trip to tucson with greyhound express bus service. It's d same time to get to tucson as a cab also. And my ticket to tucson and back was just $15 including tax. Den I took a cab from their station to d passport agency. My appointment was for 11am, got there 10am, passport was ready by 2pm I waited there till pp was ready and went back to tempe on d last bus to phoenix. Simple. I stayed in tempe but greyhound also has a station in phoenix. Just Google greyhound express u'l see and book ur ticket. I paid online. I hope dis helps u. Will advise u take ur baby along in a baby carrier cuz dey will check in ur stroller and carseat as luggage. I dint know so I carried my baby on my laps to and fro during d bus ride. And d buses are very comfortable with Internet and charging points
One more question. Is it Western Passport Center Tucson?

Thank you very much for that usefull information. By the way, I found people who offer riding in Phoenix http://angiescarservice.setmore.com/bookappointment I contacted with girl and proposed her to drive me in Tucson and back me for 70 usd. So I will think...Take bus or that car, that is more convenient and expensive.

More over, may be for all of you will be usefull that service http://phoenix.craigslist.org/search/rid
People offer just ride in any direction and you will share only gas. But I'm not sure that is too safe with baby

Just after delivering, you don't know exact date when your baby will decide to arrive ))

POPSTAR: U get passport same day if u go to tucson or 2 any other direct agent in d US, Most passport agencies require proof of travel within two weeks in order to make an appointment. Also u will be pay $60 extra as an expedited fee...
Thank you very much. So I can order driver, go in Tucson with him, spend there some time (how long to wait that passport?) and then to back with the same driver, is it right?

And how to make an appointment in Tucson?

MIHS moms, does anybody know in Tucson they will do passport in the same day or next one?
Thank you
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Varvara: 4:07am On Oct 01, 2014
naijamumcarephx: Varvara,
Typically MIH will not let you leave or discharge you without a baby car seat, most moms invest in a baby car seat. You can purchase one for a reasonable price at Burlington, Walmart or Target.
The fastest way to get to Tucson is to hire a taxi, private transportation service or book a flight to Tucson.
Considering that you would have a new born baby with you, you probably want to choose the safest and most convenient option.
I've sent you replies to your emails but no response from you.
Plus if you stay at Crossland, you should have met some of the moms on this forum who can help with some of your questions.....I hope. huh
Thank you very much. Yes, I know about baby seat. As I know hospital sells it around 40 usd. Sorry, I didn't receive anything from you ((

dserious: Woow @ MIHS price review, not good at all embarassed

Oawele, et all, pls help!!!! i had booked an appointment for October 6th with MIHS financials, but i decided to travel earlier and would be there on Monday 22nd. Will i be allowed to pay the old price?

@Dechica congrats on new born, can you kindly share wat your bill was like in Holycross, did they allow for the one night stay thingy we had discussed? i understand their quality of service is pretty good

Thot to share ds for those lukin for affordable hospitals elsewhere, someone mentioned Elkhart General Hospital in Indianapolis i think the package is all inclusive, doc fees, hospital, pre-natal etc

http://www.egh.org/maternitypackage
As I Understood from Finnancial if you have already your appointmnet and you are in the system, you will pay previous bill. Try to come to pay early ))
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Varvara: 6:39pm On Sep 15, 2014
MIHS ppl!

Right now I've paid 2888$ in MiHs. So if you had appointment already with financial and you are in the system , it's not a problem. The price the same. About website she told that contract is under revising and it will be load after 1 October. She told that price will be higher

She mentioned to me that there are a lot of Nigerian women come to sign that contract

Phema: Crossland rooms smell of smoke?? Wow! I hate odour of any kind ooo. I thought there was a "non smoking policy" in the hotel? angry Anyways, how much did they charge per night? How long will you be staying there? Were you given a discount and for how much?

Did the POE Officers at San Francisco ask for your Dr's appointment letter from MIHS? I'm just a little concerned since MIHS no longer gives Dr's appointment and also refuse to provide an email correspondence.
I'm talking about Crossland on the Mc Dowell Road. When I booked it trough Internet, I marked non-smoking room. Then when I settled down , I was askint to change a room. They tried to give me another toom and it was the same smelling. So, I decided to stay here for 2 weeks (for one week they prosposed higher price) and them I'm thinking to move in Palm Shadows. Before I want to check rooms there. By the way, Crossland takes taxes.

About POE. I just gave him my passport and in another hand I hold folder with all papers. He was just courious about that folder. I proposed to him to see my Financial Appointment Letter. There was mail from Women Clinic with Confirmation. My original Financial Appointmernt Letter was left in USA Embassy.

Hi, me dears! I'm here in Phoenix, in Crossland Mc.Dowell Road. It's true that rooms smoking smell. I tied to change room, but in the next one the same situation. Right now I'm just trying to blow up it with air-cond and some freshners.

My POE was San-Fransicso. They ask about purpose, I answered medical treatment. For how long? Three months.
Then he was just curious and was Asking what did I did in malaysia and Taiwan before I came in USA. I declared it.
I explained that in malaysia I work there, but my country of residence is Russia and in Taiwan I had just transfer flight.

he asked why I choose Phoenix? I answered that they have very good maternity package. He didn't get that I come to have my baby here ))))
In general, nothing special. No any second inspection.

By the way, it seems that they don't see that I'm pregnant )))) I forced in United Airliens and US Airways take my fit fly letter )))
I'm already 36 weeks.

Good luck for everybody!

cfcchick: Palm shadows looks gud...pls dear aw far is it frm d hospital?
Palm Shadow is more close, then Crossland. Even it's more easy to go to the city center from there, hos I researched.
I can tell you exactly in the end of this week.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Varvara: 3:24am On Sep 08, 2014
oluloveme: yes, you can get a private insurance on the side.
but if you tell the hospital or the doctor you have insurance, then the price changes as you will be moved out of the self-pay status.

you can call CIGNA or BuPA to learn more.......google it also..
Yes, thank you very much. Anyway all that insurance will not cover delivering and I won't tell them about my insurance.
