The problem with people who call for a referendum is that they call for it only online and at rallies.

If you want a referendum, and I agree with the idea( allowing for people to agitiate for secession is the mark of a mature democracy IMHO)....get political support for it by going through the democratic process. The Scottish referendum was the result of nearly 70 years of hard spadework...and alliances.

Start by forming a party that is dedicated for restructuring...and get people voted in at all levels. Once you have the numbers you can then pass a law that allows for peaceful secession.
