jaycent:Abeg i hear you. let's those who have eyes judge? |
jaycent:ok. let those who have better eyes judge. |
jaycent:i don't really like this kind of argument as it does not make any meaningful knowledge. but this is Ghana supreme court.
|
samorobo:Don't you see the irony on your own argument. Don't you factor in Nigeria large arable land. let's say Egypt have 50 percent of what is obtainable in Nigeria arable land, then it means, it will be leading Thailand. being the first does not matter, but the tecnological structure put in.place and the knowledge know how. if egypt can achieve that with less favourable climate and nature, then i wonder what they will acheive if they had just about 50 percent Nigerian arable soil. |
samorobo:Should this even be an argument. i think it is ignorant to debate this. Nigeria was only able to overtake Egypt at this time because the North African country voluntarily reduced is rice production in 2018. and that was intentional . not lack of capacity According to the online report, Nigeria now produces four million tonnes of rice annually, which is 400,000 tonnes smaller than Egypt’s annual production. ""Egypt’s ministry of irrigation and water resources, said the their country had reduced rice production by 40% to save water becuse they have limited amount of water"" Egyptian cable Egypt is water-poor already and it cannot keep growing crops that need huge amounts of water. And that is reasonable. so if Egypt finish her protect. Nigeria will sway behind egyypt agian “ |
theenchanter:You see, you can't excape the trap. usman dan fodio ( A federal uni located in the north) , UNN , futa, uniben and some few others are federal public enjoy the so called subsidy yet they are way expensive for any average Nigerians. in every country, majority of their citizen's attend public uni so the case is not peculiar to Nigeria. As per d bolded: I don't know where u get ur figures but my younger sister pays 35k per session in lasu (she's studying biz admin). Unilorin increased their tuition fee from 15k to 23k, but it decreases as a student reaches higher level.why are you giving this kind of argument. There is average price and highest price. show us what lasu engineering, medicine and law department pay it is normal for fees to go down as student progress. it is also not limited to nigeria educational system.so the above is not even an argument if ur govt "heavily subsidized" ur tertiary education, why do u still repay theBecause the student loan itself is a subsidy structure (the interest is just way low and doesn't accrue. it wait to manifest when you begin working) apart from that they are other social intervention (they are other subsides in Goverment institution like electrical bills , water, and residence fercility used in the school) student pay way too little for this benefit.likewise The student loan repayments plan is too easy amd flexible to pay back. it is even write off if the deptor dies or other meaningful project work is done by the borrower. if student loans is to make Ghana an educational hub, why do Ghanaians and not only international student receives d loan? The student loan only cover Ghanaian student because their parent or guidence pay direct tax to the nation pulse. and help develop the structure that back up the plan. international students will not work in Ghana, they are only coming to benefit from what the tax payer did(i.e) the nationals contribute . after their education, they will have to go back to their country . go away with everything they have gained in the country to develop their own country. in this sense they must pay for it, not just pay for it , they must pay in tripple. Elaborate on what u mean by d bolded.unless you repeat it again. i can't see what you bold what sort of developmental agenda is it that can no longer subsidize tertiary education, even with only 9 public unis.Ghana is subsidising terriatry EDUCATION and at the same time giving opportunity for the less privildege to attend private school ( a luxury in Nigeria) free EDUCATION cannot be sustained in Ghana for now because the current fiscal developments those not allow that.and no where is education free in sub Saharan African country. over 41 public institution are currently under Goverment subsidy. |
Just30:it shows the positive brand and international positive image Ghana economy has portray. so it is not always about oil, transparency and peace are even a lot of weath on itself. positive thinking country must strive toward it . |
PetroDollax:A total confidence i must say. |
Just30:i was surprised about the eurobond oversubscribed. Will goverment accept the 21 biillion dollar? |
theenchanter:Yet it is not free, because that will still make a student of lasu, uniosun , Eksu and others to pay around 200k annually that is more than 300 dollars and about 3500 cedis . that is not free boy"" even with the unregular stipends that is not always remmited by the state goverment, the fees i quoted above are too big to be called free. uniben and unilorin use to be the cheapest uni in nigeria but today, their fees has jump up. heavily subsidised is not d word u're looking for but "student loan". U can't subsidise tertiary education in Ghana.in Ghana, public uni in general is heavily subsidised. when a goverment is paying close to 70 percent of the fees, then that is heavy. Uni of ghana , perhaps the most expensive public uni in Ghana. pay just 700 cedis that is less than 50 thousand naira and not up to 125 dollars. The student loam is an additional back up plan to make Ghana an educational hup. and the diffrence is clear. Ghana educational ranking is far ahead of any country in west africa including nigeria. Nana only recently started d free SHS about 2 or 3years ago.. which is for senior schools.EDUCATION was initially free in Ghana up to UniversIty level in the begining during kwame inkrumah time but due to country developmental and progressive agenda, the free university cannot be sustained. so subsidy and students loan was introduce. there is also free education at basic level. |
theenchanter:EDUCATION is not free at UniversIty level in Nigeria. say it is subsidised and it will make more sense and fact base than what you posted. you can even say unregular stipends is payed by each state goverment to their indigine at their public uni. in Ghana, every public institution is heavily subsidised . A student from humble background in Ghana can subscribe to private uni even without the cash. there is student back-up plan called called student loan"" to cover such student till he graduate . |
samorobo:NIGERIA only overtook Egypt in rice production due to Egyptian goverment decision to curb down production to make way for more irrigation work and not because nigeria agriculture sector is working. it is even a shame Nigeria can be be competing with egypt in rice production. a country that have less arable land and population compare to Nigeria . rice is not major staple food in Egypt but it is Nigeria major staple food. Nigeria should by now outperform them with a large margin. Ghana with a population less than 30 million and a gdp of 51 billon is a good starting point for any African country. Ghana economy is rested on confidence. |
Ghana Government bags $3bn in Eurobond; 7 times oversubscribed The government has raised $3 billion from international financial institutions through a three-tranched Eurobond which attracted more bids than the country asked for. At the close of a roadshow in London yesterday, the appetite for the 2019 sovereign bond had swelled, resulting in orders totaling $21 billion – about seven times more than the amount needed. This heightened impetus enabled the book runners to negotiate attractive interest rates on the long-term loan instruments. The government delegation, led by the Minister of Finance, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, however, accepted only $3 billion, in consonance with the amount budgeted for and approved in the 2019 Budget Statement and Economic Policy of the government. Confirmation The Daily Graphic gathered that the government issued three separate bonds with maturity terms of seven, 12 and 31 years. A source at the Ministry of Finance, who is familiar with the transaction but was not authorised to speak about it, said the seven-year bond attracted an interest rate of 7.875 per cent, with the 12-year bond attracting 8.125 per cent coupons (interest rates), while the 31-year bond was priced at 8.95 per cent. Confidence The successful issuance of the bond is expected to bolster confidence in the economy and help reverse the current depreciation of the cedi, which analysts believe is as a result of portfolio reversals, negative sentiments about the planned exit of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and domestic rigidities arising from the recent banking sector clean-up exercise. According to international analysts familiar with Eurobonds of emerging markets, it was the first time that a sovereign bond from Africa had attracted that huge appetite, with orders being seven times the required amount. It is also the first time that the country has issued a 31-year bond to be repaid in 2050. Analyst A Professor in Economics, Prof. Peter Quarter, said he expected results of the sale to strengthen the cedi further. “It will go a long way to stabilise the cedi. We have seen the cedi move from around GH¢5.8 to one dollar to around GH¢5.3 to the dollar and I am sure that this will even push it down further,” he said in an interview. Capital flight Prof. Quarter, who is at the University of Ghana, Legon, said the oversubscription was a confirmation of current ratings on the economy. It indicated increased investor confidence in the economy, he said, explaining that all those should inure to the benefit of the general economy. He, however, observed that strong appetite for foreign debts could impact negatively on the debt stock of the country and also increase capital flight in the long term. With capital flight being one cause of the current cedi depreciation, he said the long-term implications on the exchange rate could be that the cedi would depreciate further. Use of funds According to the 2019 budget, in which the government first announced plans to raise the $3 billion from the international capital markets, about $2 billion would be used to execute this year’s budget while the remaining $1 billion would be used to refinance the 2023, 2026 and 2030 Eurobonds. A report by the Finance Committee of Parliament on the Eurobond showed that out of the $2 billion, which translated into about GH¢9.6 billion, to be used to execute the 2019 budget, about GH¢7.24 billion would go into managing the country’s liabilities. It further shows that about GH¢665.2 million was earmarked for the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPERP). Institutions such as the National Identification Authority (NIA), the Venture Capital Trust Fund and the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Plan are also candidates for the Eurobond proceeds. About GH¢106.87 million and GH¢300 million will also be used to support economic activities in Zongo communities and the Planting for Food and Jobs programme respectively. Source: Graphic.com.gh |

chrisagyei:well said. there was even a former Nigeria senator named arthur nzeribe who had work with both Ankara and inkrumah Goverment. even the suspended Nigeria chief justice nkanu onnoghen was educated in Ghana. |
Jonraid:Do you also have hausa in kenya? |
chrisagyei:Per forgiveness illogical explanation. how will he placed kwame inkrumah of ghana which was also a co president of Guinea.? when Ghana gained independence, so many african were recruited into ghana political sphere and adminisrative sector. This was also the case in Nigeria . many niger citizen's were recruited into the army from the northern side , Awolowo had to invite a Jamaican citizen from the bitish Goverment ""Darnley Arthur Alexander"" who later become Nigeria cheif justice. and so many more..... |
PetroDollaxx:sometimes, i wonder how much national lottery authority (Ghana) make in Nigeria. it will be close to billons of naira annually per my own estimation. we try to find out. i heard kenshiro Wellington(obasonjo inlaw) aka baba ijebu had a stake in it and he pays a lot to GHANAIAN goverment. |
PetroDollaxx:The dude himself knows the truth but he is not ready to open up for the sake of solidarity. |
forgiveness:in actuallity, a Yoruba will never identify with igbos. it doesn't matter if they are giving themselves out of marriage or making up a buisness contract. Yoruba will not associate themselves with igbos. most of their marriage and buisnesss contract are money focus and not love or understanding motivated . That is the honest truth. |
jaycent:A typical yoruba will never identify with igbos and likwise hausa. forgiveness is a Yoruba boy. he knows this fact |
PetroDollaxx:The dude doesn't know nothing. many Ghanaian turned Nigeria owned big buisness in kano and lagos. many of them are not aware |
SuperIgbo1:i intentionally mention igbo just to flog your ass again. i miss the way i made you useless. let me continue making your life miserable. …I will use Literacy and Poverty rate to answer this question. I know there is also GDP data that I can use, but I will stick with the two. No, the Igbos are the problem of Nigeria . The SE ranks 3rd among the 6 geopolitical zones in terms of poverty rate(from low to highest) and literacy. If one is wealthy, they should also educate their wards right? See analysis below. Also you may argue that Lagos has many Igbos who have taken it as their small london, in the second image, I deleted Lagos, yet the Yoruba still tops. http://www.unesco.org/fileadmin/MULTIMEDIA/HQ/ED/pdf/Nigeria.pdf https://www.nigerianbulletin.com/threads/list-see-poverty-rate-of-nigerias-36-states.113892/

forgiveness:lol, it is because i don't feel like letting you know. but few wise Nigerians on this forum know the truth. But to let you know again, the current Liberia President has something to do with Ghana biologically ... The current Ivorian president has something to do with burkina faso biologically. Even trump in the usa has something to do with Germany just like how obama has something to do with kenya biologically. This is sillent statement for a wise. they are Ghanaian holding significant position in Nigeria |

forgiveness:Go and abuse the same internet again. |
forgiveness:let me educate you on some hiding history you don't know . Yoruba and hause have been flocking Ghana before colonial era (i.e) the hausa trade in cola nut and groundnut. dantata family ( dangote direct father was a merchandise in ghana then., abubakar abdusalam ( former Nigeria head of state has a family background in Ghana) john mahama (former GHANAIAN President is a traditional cheif in ofa( kwara state) he had a step mother who was a complete Nigeria. he once live in offa before.
