Yampotatocarrot: Kudos, dear... You made building construction look easy with your "kobo-kobo" approach. I appreciate you opening the thread and regularly updating it
I'm planning on starting something also, and that was what led me here. Want to do it little by little, just a small 2bedroom duplex (if there is anything like that). A room, parlour, kitchen and co downstairs, while only one room upstairs. Already contacted an architect to draw up something nice for me. I'll keep following your thread to learn more. Thanks , am glad am communicating |

You lacked patience, you didn't try to fixed your loss am saying this because I have ventured into the same businesses you did and at almost the same time, you would have stick to nylon. Which I had time to text I would have point out and correct your errors one by one. But in all which you have stick to one and find out why you where not doing well you would have gone very far in business. As much as I would love to explain more this is morning I need to go and prepare my nylon, I started last year October and the buyers I talked to last year that rejected my work last year October they are the ones that are buying the same product this year October,I can't even meet demand right now,you don't need to get customers from a distance, look for what is in demand in market near you and you will be fine, though there will be competition from those on ground but you can creep him by giving quality before you know it you on top |
Most Nigerians are of the opinion that Business is the answer to the ever raising number of unemployed youths. What most doesnt know is that business too has its own challenges and not for the faint hearted. I would be sharing some of my experiences trying to do business.
**First Experience** Growing up I've always been a lover of business, I remember after my secondary education I was given two options of university education or business. I choose business without batting an eyelid. I think it was during the early days of Goodluck's tenure when ports were closed so most importations where from Cotonou Port and the goods smuggled into Nigeria.
I gathered small capital with the help of relatives and would go to Cotonou to get male jeans and resale in wholesale to my customers in Nigeria, I went on a trip at least once a week which gives me an average of 30k to 40k profit per week because my capital wasn't much. I started with 200k and within a little over a year I was counting in millions before my legendary village people gave me a call.
My logistics agent put my goods in a vehicle transporting second hand tyres, which was intercepted at Benin and everything got impounded. After spending so much for the release of the goods it was released several months later only for us to meet goods not up to 10% of what was originally seized. It was devastating and I came crashing down to square one. All attempts to gather another capital proved abortive.
Sorry for your experience, but in all you have said,I saw that you lack patience in |

Godsfathfulness: Dear Nairanders, I have noticed a consistent pattern in my health which is extremely worrisome to me. I noticed that a day after having sex I am perfectly fine; but two, three days after, I feel extreme fatigue and generally unwell. I am a married man with children and above 44 years. I have done several basic tests of my vitals and all tests confirmed medical fitness. For this reason it takes me at least a week or ten days after intercourse before meeting my partner again. I am worrying about this. Has anyone experienced anything like this? What help did you seek? Medical doctors in the house please, please what kind of test should I run to get to the root of this matter? Anyone with useful information or advice please, help a brother.
#Lala and other MODS, is it possible to move to front page so this can be seen by more people so that OP can get help. Thanks everyone. From experience,is two things involved. Your immune system is getting weak detox and boast it up with fruits and supplements. Second please go for infection test very important. |

collarfreak: I am based here in Abuja but I travelled through the route last year in December to yaounde in Cameroon. Cameroon border was closed during my visit but the Nigeria border was opened. Though I did not experience issues with Nigeria immigration just have to give 2k in two places making 4k and I was allowed to cross. I was dumped at Ikom because I was thinking getting to the border was far and I paid 30k to a cross river-based but Cameroonian man to cross me and it was on the road I discovered where he collected 30k for is just 5mins drive from where I was picked and he didn't even cross me because he left me and I have to face Nigeria immigration myself with my invitation letter. Never make such a mistake.
My passport was not stamped by Cameroon immigration because their border was still closed and I was told that we are going to face hell on our way because the Cameroon police gonna disturb us rather if we have ample cash to settle them. We were told we are going to meet 16 police checkpoints from Ekok to Daoula(economic state) and 14 police checkpoints from Ekok to Bamenda and the least each control would demand would-be 25thousand franc - 35thousand franc which is approximately at least 25k would be spent at each control and it was the time crisis was happening in Cameroon. After calculating what we have left we concluded passing through Bamenda to reduce the number of control checking points. We had to pass the night at Ekok because it was late before we got to the border and the hotel per night was 6thousandfranc(6k Nigeria money)
We proceeded early morning at exactly 5 am and we were charged 10-15thousand franc to Bamenda and the journey took almost 5hours but the roads are good but corners and hills were much on the road.
Once we approach any checkpoint, the driver would ask us to come down of the car and submit our passport and he would be the one to hand over our passport to the police and police would come to check our face if it tallies with a picture on the passport. We were asked to scatter our luggage and thoroughly checked and the money would be demanded and the driver would tell us to arrange a 25thousand franc on the ground whenever we are approaching any checkpoint. Cameroon citizens inside the vehicle would also come down of the car and they would show their national I.d card before they can be permitted to proceed. Before we got to Bamenda, the money on us got finished because some police delayed us and increased the fees because they feel we are from Nigerians and we have money. Though the driver really helped us at a point There was this last police checkpoint in conjunction with controls and army, we were supposed to pay them separating and our money got finished and we could not settle the last one, we had to collect the account number of the army that we are going to transfer money to him as soon as we get to Bamenda because they make use of momo agent in Cameroon. The driver stood by us to achieve this before they could release our passports to us.
Cameroon police and army are more corrupt than Nigeria police because their uniform men collect money opening they don't care who you are. At any checkpoint, Cameroon citizen would park their cars and go into where their boss who will be sitting under the tree to pay a fee before proceeding. The only thing about Cameroon uniform men is that they are young boys and girls, very hard to see old people in the service compare with Nigeria. They are all fine boys Asif handsomeness is part of the selection criteria. Their uniform is dope and looking good because the Cameroon government pays them well. In the end you paid heavily,so I just feel flight is more convenient. Have you by chance stayed over there |

collarfreak: Which part of the cross-river are you? Anywhere you are, find your way to ikom which is very close to ogoja and a 2hrs drive from Abakaliki. When you get to ikom, take a bike or a vehicle to ekok which is the Cameroon border though you might settle Nigeria soldiers at any given point before getting to Nigeria/Cameroon border not more than 500naira so you can budget 2k for the settlement. When you get to the border there is just one way to cut our immigration is via boat to cross you because the river is what separates Nigeria and Cameroon but you would have to pay for the boat but very cheap. But if you have your passport and the genuine reason going there, pass through our immigration gate just that you would have to tip them to allow you. N.B there are bad guys at the Nigeria border impersonating immigration once they see you are going for the first time, they would request for your passport and demand for money from you, and if you give at your own risk. you need to be sharp, don't form ajebo, and be observant instead be ready to waste money. Once you find your way to Ekok(Cameroon border) allow the Cameroon immigration to stamp your passport for you which comes with fees because all uniform men in Cameroon are also more corrupt than Nigerians. It is very important you get your passport stamp to avoid their police and control on the highway demanding money from you by seizing your passport. Once your passport is stamped, take a bike to the park still trekable though and when you get to the back you can change your naira to the franc and enter any vehicle going to your destination. If you have any more questions you can ask me Are you in cross river ,have you by chance taken that route. In summary what's the budget for the trip. |

lordally: First and foremost , change that your 1 million naira to Dollars and keep it in your Domiciliary account in any of the Nigerian banks while you think of what next to do as per travel matter! Because the way the Naira has been falling ehn! That money in few months from now fit no worth anything again so better change am to Dollars first before anything. I will start working on this now because I thought of it once, since I was in a haste I put it aside, thanks lordally |

For God's sake travel requires patience and proper planning if not you would make mistakes! Please make more research and study the countries of your choice well and please make sure any move you're making is legal so that when the chips are down you would at least be at an advantage.
Secondly which route do you want to follow? Student , work or what? So these are the questions you need to ask yourself and sort out. I don't mind following tourist then maybe get a work and then apply for work visa and do a reentry. |

Then your option is African countries as I learnt Qatar is not giving Work Visa to Nigerians for now.
Even at that, Do you have any skill that can fetch you money? Or You're ready to take the study route? If not, I will advice you to change Location within Nigeria (Sorry I have to say this) and maybe find another thing to do, rather than travelling out to waste that money or honestly return the money to those who contributed, with good reason of course.
1mill is 2k dollars. So think about the cost of travelling, renting apartment, getting other documents, food and the rest, you'd see the money will hardly last you for 2 months.
