Governor Obaseki is a man indeed. He will have our full support in the governorship election that is approaching. We like him and we will support him.

Governor Obaseki's ambition to become the Edo state governor for the second term is out of love for his people. He has good plans for his people and becoming the governor presents him with the opportunity to do it well.

Governor Obaseki has demonstrated his delight for the progress of the Edo state. To express it in full, he need a platform to do that. Because he couldn't get what will enable him do that from his former party All Progressive Congress (APC), he defected to PDP. This was a good move to pursue his ambition.

Governor Godwin Obaseki's success in cases like certificate forgery which he won recently among others is a sign that he is surrounded with favour. Cases that would have implicated his pursuit were resolved like cases that aren't serious.

The case of certificate forgery is just one. Recall that he was elected unopposed in the PDP's primary elections. We like the way he is progressing in his career. He crossed many dangerous hurdles yet, he remain strong.

We believe that Obaseki is not contesting for govership election to take advantage of anybody. He is contesting to fight for the right of the people of Edo state and to do any good thing that is within his ability to do.

Governor Obaseki is a good man because he could singlehandedly, declared that he was leaving his former party APC without fear of anybody. This is what many politicians cannot do.

We like this move because any man that can declare his intentions publicly without fear or timidity, he is capable of discharging his duties justly.

The reason is because, even when he become the governor, no one can stop him from doing what he feel is right and the good people of Edo state want.

We will support governor Obaseki fully. What he did is beyond the expectation of many. We like him and will support him fully.

A former Manager of Music Star, Oladapo Oyebanji aka D’Banj, says Seyitan Babatayo, had informed him of the alleged rape since December 2018 but she had agreed not to pursue the case.

The former manager, Frank Amudo, said this in an interview with GoldmyneTV.

Amudo said in December 2018 he helped Seyitan – who he met through a WhatsApp group – to attend a show where D’Banj performed in Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island.

He said he booked a room at Glee Hotel, Victoria Island, in the name of D’Banj’s entertainment company where he was supposed to have lodged after the show.

The former manager, however, said he gave the room to Seyitan while he returned home.

Amudo stated, “Around 2am she said it was late, she couldn’t go back to Egbeda. So, I told her I would drop my key for her but I’m going home, which I did. I got to the hotel, called her, she came downstairs, I was in the car. I gave her my room key and I left.

“On my way home, after I had passed Dolphin Estate inward Third Mainland Bridge, D’Banj called me, asking where I was and I said I had left, I was on Third Mainland Bridge. He said he would see me at the airport in the morning.

“My wife dropped me at the airport around 5am. Cheeky Chizzy and other members came, D’Banj arrived around 6.30am… We boarded a flight to Ghana. On getting to Ghana, on our way to the apartment, I received many calls from Seyitan but I didn’t pick.

“When I got to the apartment, I connected to the Wifi and called her. She asked, ‘Were you aware D’Banj was coming to my room?’ I said no. First of all, D’Banj didn’t even know my room and wasn’t lodged at Glee Hotel. That was when she said D’Banj came to her room and had forceful carnal knowledge of her. She sent the messages through voice notes and I still have them.”

Alleged international fraudster, Ramon Abbas aka Ray Hushpuppi, once said his dream was to own two commercial motorcycles otherwise known as okada and a commercial bus popularly called danfo.

He said this during a live Instagram video with social media influencer, Abisoye Michael, aka Oyemyke in 2018.

Ironically, 13 luxury cars including two Rolls Royce, a Bentley, a Mercedes Benz G Wagon, Ferrari, Maybach, Bugatti and others worth $6.8m (N2.5 billion) have been seized from Hushpuppi.

The alleged fraudster, who is in the United States facing charges of money laundering, fraud, and conspiracy, said he grew up in Oworonshoki, a Lagos community of mainly low and middle-income earners.

Oworonshoki is very close to the Third Mainland Bridge that links the highbrow Island to the mainland.

Hushpuppi said the reality on the island was in sharp contrast with that of Oworonshoki and he was determined to make it in life.

He stated that he also intended marrying an ‘amala girl’ who would own a small restaurant and they would live comfortably.

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the September 19 election in Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki has obtained a new discharge certificate from the National Youth Service Corps with number A004280695.

The Independent National Electoral Commission in Edo State had late Thursday displayed the forms of the 14 governorship candidates, that will contest for the election at the commission’s secretariat in Benin City.

It was observed that Obaseki’s new discharge certificate was issued on June 19, attached with a memo entitled, ‘Re-correction of name and re-issuance of my certificate of national service’, and signed on behalf of the Director-General by Mrs K.N Okonofua.

The memo read, “We refer to your letter referenced OEG/ABJ/99/VOL.IV/172 dated 18th June 2020, on the above subject matter

“I am directed to inform you that after the investigation, the management of the National Youth Service has approved a new certificate of National Service reflecting the surname Obaseki, be produced as earlier certificate number 063107 dated 6th August 1980 has been cancelled due to an error in the surname Obasek.

“Accept the assurances of the Director-General’s regard.”

Obaseki was, among other matters including credential discrepancy, disqualified by the All Progressives Congress screening committee from contesting the party’s primary.

On Inec’s notice board, Obaseki filled West African School Leaving Certificate, 1973, and Bachelor of Arts, 1979, as his qualifications.

His major contender in the election and candidate of the APC, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has his highest qualification as LLB from the University of Benin.

The Commissioner for Health in Ondo state, Dr Wahab Adegbenro, has died.

Adegbenro died of COVID-19 at the state infectious disease hospital in Akure on Thursday July 2nd. He was 65 years old.

This comes two days after the state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, tested positive for Coronavirus. Governor Akeredolu in a statewide broadcast disclosed his COVID-19 status. He said he is asymptomatic and is now in isolation.

Wahab Oluropo Adegbenro was born on 5th June 1955 at Ilara-mokin in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State. After his elementary education at Muslim Primary School, Ilara-mokin. Between 1962 and 1967.

Wahab attended Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure; and the University of Benin, Benin City. He holds the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (M.B; B.S).

He was a member of the Nigeria Medical Association; member of the Association of General and Private Medical Practitioners of Nigeria; Associate member, Royal College of General Practitioners of London; and member of Nigeria Guild of Medical Directors.

He established Crown Hospital, Akure where he was the Chief Medical Director.

urkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has vowed to tighten government controls on social media, following alleged insults directed at his family.
Erdogan said that his government is determined to introduce legislation that would force social media companies to establish a legal presence in Turkey.

The requirement would mean social media companies could be held financially accountable and forced to obey the decisions of Turkish courts.

"It is imperative that these channels are brought under control,'' Erdogan told party members in a televised address from the capital, Ankara.

The Chairman of the Lagos State branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Musliu Akinsanya (aka MC Oluomo) has made the 20-man list for the selection of beneficiaries for the Federal Government’s 774,000 jobs across all the Local Governments in the country.

The initiative, which is being handled by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment is targeted at providing jobs for 774,000 citizens across the 774 local governments area in the country.

The jobs are basically unskilled labour, with a monthly wage of N20,000

The Lagos State selection committee is chaired by Alhaji Mutiu Are, a member of the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council.

The committee also includes the Iyaloja of Lagos, Mrs Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, some traditional rulers, leaders of trade and labour associations as well as other stakeholders in Lagos.

Indications show that more hurdles lie ahead for the immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole.

This is because the Edo State government has not given up on its resolve to prosecute him and make him face the full wrath of the law if convicted by the court. Oshiomhole risks going to jail among other penalties if found guilty of the indictments made against him and some other people that worked under him as Governor of Edo State.

Recall that Governor Godwin Obaseki had set up a Judicial Commission of Inquiry (JCI) to probe Oshiomhole's administration. The commission was headed by Justice James Oyomire (rtd.) which investigated the construction of the Edo Specialist Hospital and supply of equipment for the hospital during Oshiomhole’s tenure. After its investigation, the commission made its findings known and made some recommendations for the state government.

Most importantly, the commission indicted Oshiomhole's administration for violating the state's Public Procurement Law. The JCI made eight recommendations contained in the white paper made public by the Edo State government based on the report of the commission. The commission also recommended that the Edo State Ministry of Justice should take civil and criminal actions against those indicted for breaching the procurement law.

“But the Governor didn’t call me. Even if he had called me and I didn’t pick his calls, I don’t have his number and I have never spoken with him on the phone. He could have sent me a text message for record purposes.

“And then today again, I read in the papers and saw how the Ajimobi’s family was lying about something again
“Mr Deputy, my husband never had anything against the Governor or anyone else. We were in different parties but he was an elder stateman and he slept on the ground.

“The Governor of Oyo State never called me nor sent a condolence message, my husband was hospitalised for one month. What politics are we playing, please?

“Life is short, I’m a Christian and my husband is a Muslim, we all should let the fear of God guide us in whatever we are doing. Ajimobi is gone today. Whatever he does doesn’t matter to me. It doesn’t matter to me as his wife and his widow. I’m going to mourn and respect my husband’s wishes and that was what I did today, laid him to rest peacefully.

“I don’t want any controversy. Everything I read in the papers, I just swallowed them all and let it go. So, please, the press are here, we never had any rift with the Governor with the state government. I never dialogued with them. I never contacted them nor sent them a word because I didn’t know it was necessry for me to send official messages that my husband was hospitalised.

“I didn’t send messages to Governor Fayemi. I didn’t send to Governor Ganduje. I didn’t send to Lagos State Governor, I didn’t send messages to anybody because it was all over the social media and they knew that my husband was ill.

“I think the least anybody can do as a God- fearing person was at least to send me a word of encouragement at that time. And even after he died. Not even you Mr Deputy Governor called. If you had called me as you claimed and I didn’t pick, you could have at least sent me a message Sir.

Facts emerged on Saturday 27th june that a lingering cold war between the family of the former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi and the Oyo State Government was largely responsible for the delay in his burial.

The late Ajimobi died in a Lagos hospital on Thursday after some complications arising from COVID-19.

According to Islamic injunction, the former governor was supposed to have been buried immediately or the next day after his demise.

However, it was gathered on Saturday that the late Acting Chairman of the All Progressives Congress was not buried three days after his death because conclusion had yet to be reached on his final resting place.

A reliable source close to the family alleged that the burial had been delayed due to some impediments by the state government to the burial plans by the family.
