A report by Daily Trust indicates that political agitations have commenced for the replacement of Late Senator Bayo Oshinowo.

Bayo Oshinowo, a former majority leader in the Lagos state House of Assembly died after a brief illness suspected to be COVID-19 at the age of 64.

His sudden death has therefore created a vacuum in the upper chamber of the National Assembly.

BENIN monarch Omo N’Oba Nedo Uku Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare II on Thursday stated his position on political developments in Edo State. He is opposed to imposition (consensus candidate) and god-fatherism, a statement from Benin Palace said.

The statement, signed by Frank Irabor, Secretary to the Benin Traditional Council, said there was no truth in social media speculations that the royal father had prevailed on some governorship aspirants to step down for one of the aspirants in the upcoming shadow poll of a certain political party.

The rescheduled primary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will hold on June 23, a day after that of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The statement said the monarch’s prayer had always been that “God and our ancestors should give us a governor that will accord respect to traditional institution, develop this state and, provide food on the table for the masses.”

The atmosphere was tense in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Thursday over the health status of a former Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.

It was gathered in the early hour of the day that the condition of the former governor had deteriorated.

The controversy over the disqualification of Godwin Obaseki, on an alleged discrepancies in his certificates, by the professor Ayuba's APC screening committee, despite the University of Ibadan confirmation that Obaseki is a graduate of the institution, has led to the emergence of Adams Oshiomhole's only certificate online; showing that he only attended adult education program.

He was 64 years old.

The four-time Lagos House of Assembly member was elected a senator in 2019.
