ALVARO MORATA has lost the No9 shirt at Chelsea - but it's all his own choice.

The Spanish striker has paid an emotional tribute to his wife and new-born twins by choosing to wear the No29 for the new season - the date his two children were born in July

The Chelsea striker and Italian model Alice Campello named the new arrivals Alessandro and Leonardo.

And next season the 25-year-old will sport a new number on his shirt in an incredible family gesture.

Speaking to the Chelsea website about his decision: "It is a day I will never forget, to welcome my twin sons into the world.

"My family is so important to me and I want to honour them and my wife, Alice, when I am on the pitch which is why I have decided to take a different number for the new season and remember this special day by adding the No2

"I am sorry to the fans who may have bought a No9 with my name already, but I hope you understand my tribute and that it will not be a problem and we can make you a new one

"Thank you for your support and I hope this year there will be lots more to celebrate."

The former Real Madrid star posted a photo with his wife and the twins to his Instagram page on Sunday.

Alongside the image, he added: "And the day arrived ... July 29, 2018, a day I will never forget.

"I have no words to thank you Alice, thank you for making me the most beautiful and incredible gift in the world.

"Every day since I know you I thank God for having put you in my way, you are the cornerstone of my life.

"These months you have fought like a lioness, I can not be more proud of you; nights in the hospital, dehydrated days, whole days together in bed without being able to move... but in the end the day arrived, it arrived and everything was worth it.
