A 24-year-old woman identified simply as Nneka is currently assisting the Lagos State Police Command in its investigation into the death of a man, Emeka Amadi, suspected to be her lover.
Nneka, a mother of two, was said to be with the 28-year-old Amadi in a hotel located on Muibi Street in Olodi- Apapa, before he died on Friday.
Both of them were said to have arrived the hotel in the deceased’s blue Peugeot 406 car marked DY 693 GGE about 40 minutes before hotel attendants heard a noise from their room.
Amadi reportedly rushed out of the room, gasping for breath and demanding that he be taken to a nearby hospital.
When he was rushed to the hospital in his car, the doctor on duty confirmed him dead.
While confirming the incident, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Frank Mba, on Monday said Nneka was being held so that she could assist in investigation.
Mba, a superintendent of police, said that the corpse had been deposited at the mortuary of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja for autopsy.
He said that until the autopsy result was released, it would be premature to link the deceased’s death to a sex romp.
A source told our correspondent that the deceased and the lady, a school teacher, were close friends and intended to marry before Amadi travelled to Spain about six years ago.
They were said to have renewed their amorous relationship when the deceased returned to Nigeria a few weeks back despite the fact that Nneka was already married.
