okhiai1:Sorry I din't get your point @okhia1 |
megamindmaster:@megamindmaster Am expecting your mail. Shalom! |
CASH WITHDRAWAL FOR YOUR FREELANCE FUNDS There are different withdrawal methods, but unfortunately and fortunately for us Nigerians Payoneer is our best option for now. I CAN ONLY SHARE MY EXPERIENCE: I use PAYONEER MasterCard: and I will emphasis on their hidden charges first so you know. Why other thread/people won't tell you this! Payoneer Deductions: $29 for annual fee $9.67 for activation fee $3.5 more or less. This depends on your card usage for a particular month which will determine the monthly fee charged next month $2.5 fast-tracking withdrawal from merchant to your payoneer card $0.00 Every withdrawal from merchant takes 2 days to hit your payoneer card from merchant. $0.00 for payoneer to payoneer cash transfer $1 for every withdrawal $1 for ATM insufficient fund prompt $1 for checking account Balance $12 for card replacement The deductions figures above might be slightly different please visit www.payoneer.com and do your own findings. Go to www.payoneer.com and register to get your Payoneer MasterCard, The card looks nice I liked it at first sight (Black colour design)!, Yeah and is free to apply and it will be delivered through NIPOST to your address in Nigeria at no cost. (Payoneer is a financial service firm in New York US), Please don't wait for NIPOST to come to you. I advice you go to them, guys be proactive here, my experience: I had to visit NIPOST state office here a day after the scheduled date with my ID card, and my letter containing the card was handed to me free of charge. The letter had been there waiting for me, so you can go before the scheduled date sent to your email by payoneer. My Advice: make sure you build or get a contact in your state NIPOST office to track your letter containing the card. Important Advice: Please MAKE SURE that you use the same name/surname and address as with your upwork.com or other freelance sites account. Why? I have researched that these freelancing sites do verify these cards. For example Elance.com takes 5 days( weekend inclusive) to verify your payoneer card, after you have added it as a means of withdrawal. Note, upwork.com have scheduled dates for withdrawals and their minimum of $100. You can withdraw cash from any ATM with a the MasterCard logo,( Final Advice: At your point of registering for your card on the payoneer website, please don't forget your 4digit PIN number you used during registration this is the pin you must use to withdraw at the ATM. Just like your normal naija ATM, When you insert your card it tells you welcome, Please check your balance first (I know it will deduct $1 but is wise this way than at the end it tells you insufficient fund) Then continue, click savings, amount to withdrawal, then your naira gets to you. If you find this post helpful or informative give it 10,000 likes. Am counting...........still counting...... Direct your question here or to my email aprofessor@naij.com if am less busy I will reply. Shalom! |

Pidggin:@pidggin, lets be FOCUS!! we have so many things to cover. |
Datazone:Ask your questions.. |

Guys, I will be here for the next 30 minutes to take questions....... keep them coming is 8:15pm .. 30 minutes only, then am gone to work, I've got two jobs to tackle this night. Cheers. |
Good Evening Guys. Am here for the newbies, and for all those who like to share, cos that's what am about. SHARING! I have taken out time to observed how Some guys come here to derail this thread, well I will say to you, continue, just continue.......... Now for the serious ones here. BUILDING YOUR FREELANCER PROFILE Things to take note of: 1. YOU MUST ADD A PICTURE: Here, is important you upload a picture of yourself, IF IT ISN'T GOOD LOOKING DON'T PUT IT UP. (This help to sell your brand) everything doesn't end with having the skills, create a likable first impression. Smiling profile pic sells your skills.. Hey, if you don't have good looking pic, Just create a logo with your your skill as the theme and upload . For example you can create a logo of with "Expert Copy Writer/Editor: For all your writing/editing needs' inscribed. If you can't create a logo then use google search and find a befitting logo. 2. TAKE A TEST: Yes this is necessary, I did the American English test and it looks easy, try it. The beautiful thing about Upwork is that, you have the choice of either making your test details public or not, and also you can retake the test again and again. So if you fail the first test, don't worry, you have another chance. 3. Don't exhaust your Connects: Connects in Upwork.com is like the currency use to bid for jobs, is usually 60 connect for starters (Free of charge), I advice new users to always bid for jobs that have their main skill ( I mean if you an proofreader) then bid for jobs that wants a proofreader. Take note, if the first skill in your profile is Proofreading, you are automatically in first place, so the client sees you first. In the case of Elance.com there is an exception to bidders who sponsor their bid, they appear first before you. Also you don't have to bid for jobs that have North America as preferred location. Please don't waste those bids for nothing. My point is this, like in Elance.com after you've exhausted all your bids, you will pay $10 for 10 connects if you need connects, I think this also applies for upwork.com. So use your connects wisely. make sure it last you for a month, the beautiful part of it is that, you can roll your connects over to the next month. 4. Bidding for Jobs: Listen to me, if you want to apply for a Cheveron job, how do you write your cover letter? Yes just picture that Cheveron job. I used Cheveron job, because I want you to see every bidding opportunity as applying for a Cheveron Job. Guys be serious, you are competing with other smart and intelligent folks out there. On Elance Kenyans are well known for Academic Writing, Yes this I observed. There are so many brilliant Nigerians out there who can write excellently, but loose their being chosen for the job, why? because their proposal isn't convincing. Well, I will dwell on this in subsequent writing here. 5. Build your Sample Portfolio: I use to have some research projects I did back then on my PC. I used them as portfolio samples, Now my jobs on Elance serves as my portfolio samples. This is important. Most client want to see your previous work, So this is an opportunity to prove your worth. Upload samples of what is relevant to the services you offer. 6. Stay Online: You must be online 24/7 I have missed couple of jobs before, because of this. My advice get a browsing phone with internet connection which you can use to check your emails to see if any client want your services, why your laptop will be for executing the jobs. 7. How to bid for jobs on upwork.com: I will always advice you make sure your profile gets to 100% completeness. Therefore take test and add certifications. With these, you are fully armed to bid. Go to the left side of your screen, under MY CATEGORIES - click a skill, then it takes you to jobs within that skill. Browse to see which one suits you. Note: on the same page always refresh to see the most recent job post, you can also check the page numbers to search further. 8. Take Time Out: Yes take time out to observe and study your competitor's profile, compare their skills with yours look at their profile overview, their overall brand and do your own assessment, because this assessment will bring so many questions to you. 1. Am I quoting the right prize for my job bids? 2. Am I under quoting or over quoting? 3. Is my profile strong and convincing enough? 4. Do I need to add other certifications? 5. Is my headline, description, profile picture, outlining, word usage appropriate enough? 6. Am I writing too much of too little profile description? and so on.... Guys you can always reach me here: aprofessor@naij.com If am less busy I will reply your email. (Please let your question(s) be more specific) GUYS, PLEASE DON'T DERAIL THIS THREAD **** add to the thread don't derail please****** THE AIM OF THIS THREAD IS TO HELP NEW AND OLD FREELANCERS NOT FOR "SHOW OFF" @stagger @fxbox @ipain @G12 and Others. |
eripecs:@eripecs payoneer does not carry out this option for our country, because of your banking policy. So, I wonder how you did yours. |
eripecs:@eripecs Please which support team did you chat with payoneer or freelancer support team? re they deductions made before transfer? at what exchange rate does this transfer get to you? Awaiting your response. Thanks |
@Tranxo at what rate did fidelity bank charge? PLEASE HOUSE, I want to know which bank exchange rate is best for my withdrawal (In terms of good rate, network and without my card been compromised) If you have answers to my question, please when recently did you withdraw? |
lordfredrick:Lordfredick yes you have to download the app and send your time sheet to the client to pay you accordingly. Here is a tip, tell the client an approximate time it will get uou to finish the job, then pacify him to fund escrow, then start work, send and he approves payment. In all it depends on your relationship with the client. For example I just write the time I start the work and end on the top of the doc I've worked on then sent to him, then he approves and releases payment to me. I have never downloaded that timer thing. Na timer wan do the work abi na me!... |
Good Morning Guys JUST SO WE DON'T DERAIL THIS BEAUTIFUL THREAD I OPENED TO GIVE THE BEST I CAN This morning I will dwell on: My Strory: A Freelancer's Journey. Yes you have the basics (laptop, modem), Yes you have the skills, Yes you are hardworking, but there is more to all these relevant attribute to becoming a successful freelancer, MY STORY: It all started here, I mean here on nairaland, I have seen the thread before several times "How to make $1000/monthly from researching' Hmmm, I subconsciously assert that is one of those nairaland again looking to open a thread for popularity, or perhaps another way to lure unsuspecting nairalander to buy some product/service. Day in day out, I read the topic on the job section and am like mtchewwww, "no be me and una" I never clicked to check its content, Then just one day, one faithful day I just decided to click this topic screaming loud every time on my laptop screen, hmm " make I even check wetin dem dey do here" gbam, I got glued " Making to make $1000 in a month" singing sweet melody in my head. Yes, is Ladywriter's thread, very informative, but before now, Nigerian Lady in London had already posted a data entry/product description job in the jobs/vacancies section, its a freelance job, because am quite new to it, I applied and later got to find out that she works from Elance.com immediately I typed elance.com and did my own little research, subsequently, register a profile and started work. As at today I haven't gotten any reply from this lady, She asked us to add here ID on Skype up till today no add back. She went blank. I did my research, yes of course with help from Ladywriter's thread, I observed her thread was mostly about Freelancer, which was cool, but I know straight away, Nigerians must have flooded this site, let me focus on Elance.com now Upwork.com. Yes, it paid off.I get better jobs in Elance.com compared to freelancer.com MORAL OF THE STORY: I did my home work with finding out, not just settling with what I see. I know there is more and there will always be more. I know we have many gurus out there making millions. My question is, What is the essence of those million without impacting on others. Hey, am not a millionaire, but Am worth more than a billionaire. Shalom! |
diligreat:Ensure you've got the basics, Laptop, modem(connected to net) then take time to visit these sites www.upwork.com and www.freelancer.com , I will like to see more nairalanders on upwork. you will get big cash here.. hmmm, freelancer, is a preparatory ground, why? because you get lots of spamming and Indians there(the site doesn't look serious), If you've got marketable skill. I'll advice you come to upwork. Well any other thing, you can reach me here or my email: aprofessor@naij.com ( If am less busy I will reply). |

Nairalander01:You can charge per word, per page or per hour. Choose the one that suits your work schedule. For per word you can do 0.10cents for big clients or 0.5cents for small clients(Indians) whatever your charges are let it be within those range. Now if it's a large continuous project, I'll advice your do per page charge. NOTE: Clients who are stingy would like always insist in per hour charge, Please don't fall for it.( Indians are fond of this) you'll profit more on per word. Per page charge is just at the middle, to be on the safe side charge per word. ADVICE: I will advice you ask if its a continuous project, then what ever price you give let the client know is because you want them to use your service repeatedly. In all, it depends on the pocket of the client and your bargaining skills. @Nairaland01, hope this helps, anyother thing, let me know. Shalom! |
rotile247:They do ACCEEPT Nigerians, So no need for IP change. |

offegas:Hi Offegas, You are correct! if you need assistance never hesitate to reach me. Shalom! |
stagger:Good, congratulations on the invite.! Join the course, lets help others succeed as freelancers. Shalom! |
pimplucious:this isn't like the usual freelancing site, is more of a job board. |
michaelokoi:For Upwork.com no requirement what so ever, Why I said so, is that you will be given 60 connects free to bid for jobs, after you must have created a profile, then you are good to making dollars with your skills is www.upwork.com formerly www.elance.com Let me know if you find any thing difficult. Cheers |
1. Build your Profile: Upon having the zeal to make big money in dollars online and zeroing on a particular freelancing site to get clients, you are also expected to create a catchy, WELL FOCUS profile that will give the discerning client an air of relieve he is hiring the best fit for the job, while did I activate my caps lock key on "well focus", is because I have observed that most freelancers always want to do all jobs out there, whether they are skilled in it or not. My advice however, is if you are a writer, then specialized in an aspect or two at most in this beautiful field of writing. Every client out there want to hire the best fit for the task, so If your profile description reads Astute Writer, Data Entry Specialist cum Virtual Assistant, client won't take you serious. Be focus, that's the aim, If you go with; Professional Content Writer! this spells seriousness and captures the need of a client who need a content writer. I will explain more about this in subsequent writing here, so stay glued! Building a credible profile can take me a whole e-book. 2. Bid for Job: Guys time with out number, I have emphasized that freelancing site isn't a platform for spamming, that is why you must be FOCUS, sit yourself down and answer this simple question " what skill can I give most effectively" then work around that answer. However, your bid proposal should be apt and tailored to the job post. For some client, in making sure that all bidders read their job post, they sometimes includes word(s) you must include in your bid proposal. So carefully read job post and importantly, understand what the job requires, check if you posses the relevant skill(s) because this is among the pointers for inviting job bidders. My advise; for starters, quote a low price, I will dedicate more writings on here, so stay glued! 3. Stay Online: Guys freelancing is a career, just like in the bible God ask Jeremiah "What seeth thou" so I ask you now, what do you see? your answer will form your innate ability to greatly succeed in this ocean of opportunity call freelancing. Yes, it just don't stop at bidding bidding bidding for jobs, Stay connected always 24/7 especially for starters. Most client during invite many bidders for a job and gives it to that person you is of course online at the time and meet his requirements. Some clients need to invite you for a quick negotiation, update etc, so you must find means to always stay connected 24/7 4. Customer Service: Yes, this is what puts me ahead of other I think, so everybody can write, and proofread, but not every body knows how to retain a client, "I Know" and am using it to my advantage. I will write more on this subsequently, stay glued! 5. Ask for review: Also, the fruit, of our customer service skill will make your client always give you excellent review, most importantly, most freelancer don't know you can bargain/negotiate price quote with asking for excellent review and 5 star rating nothing less. I will write more on this subsequently, stay glued! |
